Is Resident Evil 2 as good as people make it out to be?

Is this as good as people make it out to be? The only Resident Evil game I have played was 5 on the Xbox 360, it was ok. How much of the game is inside the police station?

    No, it really isn't.
It's just the first and only over-hyped game the zoomers have gotten to play on their NoGaems boxes.

    >The only Resident Evil game I have played was 5 on the Xbox 360, it was o
    Totally different types of games.
Go play the classic REs 1-3, REmake 1 and 4.

It is good, and I would say a third to half the game takes place in the police station.

this homosexual is blinded by nostalgia vision. Go play the old ones and realize the tank controls and awkward camera angles are terrible.

I like the old games, but RE2 remake is definitely an improvement, and I am excited for them to release more in the series.
RE3 Remake is kind of shit if you played RE:Nemesis, but not bad if you have no former experience with the series. A bit to linear and a missed opportunity to explore raccoon city.

Only reason Piss4 owners shill DE-make2 are the coomer memes and because it plays like TLOU games.

Point to how it's "TLOU" exactly. An over the shoulder aim that's in ALL third person games with gun aim since RE4?

The overall game design is practically a carbon copy of The Last Of Uncharted games.
It certainly has none of the horror-themed adventure game vibes of the classic games. Hell, it outright prioritizes shooting and running by making the world a bland, static place, with no flavor text and every single item and important objective highlighted for you.

I played the remake first. I was so excited to play the original, but then I was underwhelmed when I did end up playing it. There is less of an emphasis on survival than the remake. I couldn't give six shits about the story because the voice acting is so bad (not in the funny RE1 way). I was flying through the game with a feeling of indifference. RE2 is the ultimate nostalgiatard RE game I don't care what any homosexual says.

I played RE2 back when it released that's pretty close to my opinion on it too. They made it ridiculously easy and dumbed everything down to appeal to the biggest casual audience possible.

I had the complete opposite experience. I really did dig REm2, but the original game had much better flow and design, and more fleshed out characters and story. The VA job was a huge improvement from the RE1 if you ask me. I honestly couldn't put the game down until I had beaten the 4 campaigns.

It's just "okay". It was hyped up as this long awaited remake for one of the best games in history, but the end results a pretty typical, cinematic 3rd person horror-shooter, with tons of content and replay value cut compared to the 1998 OG.
People were expecting a similar faithful recreation as the 2002's REmake on Game Cube, the one that was HD re-released in 2014 for other systems, but instead we got a new game with some bizarre design choices and pretty cringy new script. It's essentially a soft-reboot, not part of the original series any more.

New-gay here. REm2 was my first RE-game and got me into the survival horror genre. Afterwards I went and emulated the very original PS1 Resident Evil game, and was blown away it. Besides the silly VA, the game has aged tremendously well.
I played rest in the release order afterwards, and had good time with most of 'em. I must admit that the 98 RE2 is a much better designed game, but unlike RE1 vs REmake, the two are quite apples/oranges.

Probably the best RE at the very least the most consistent. About 60% or so, if you're not into item management and figuring out ways to get to a place without getting killed by monsters you're not gonna have a good time.

About 70-75% of this game takes place in the police station. Don't be worried, because it is the best part of the game. OP I need to hear from more about your RE5 experience before I can determine if this game is good for you or not.

I enjoyed the opening area from what I remember, I played only in co-op mode. When the zombies mutated was probably the worst part. I enjoyed basic zombies and open areas. The hallway style gameplay isn't my thing on paper but it looks fine in RE2.

I consider it the best remake ever made, only slightly edged out by REMake 1. It has its share of problems but it is probably the most faithful possible translation of the original game with modern gameplay sensibilities. Unfortunately after this they followed it up with total laziness with REMake 3.
