no. The 3DS can play all its games and has the same features. Get a New 3DS or New 3DS XL

Unironically yes, don't listen to people like this guy
It has supior build quality to the ds lite in every single way
      >muh gba slot
Okay? We're fricking adults you can buy both or just get a fricking Gameboy.

The DSi is just too redundant, regardless of its build quality. The handful of DSi games/applications do not make up for the lack of a GBA slot. Another anon said to just get a 3DS which can play the entire 3DS AND DS library, is extremely easy to hack, and can also play those GBA games natively or through homebrew.
If you are truly so married to the idea of having the exact proper aspect ratio and the exact same hardware, and you only want to run DS software, then you have a point. But if you want something that can everything the DSi can, and more, and don't care about le scary fuzzy image, then just get a 3DS.
If you are like the anon I'm replying to, then I guess a DSi is the only choice.

Can you play DS games and GBA games at the same time? No you can't so you might as well play them on the better console, I've myself been using the DSI Xl as my main NDS and have recently switched to the ds lite because I've had the urge to "bring it back to basics" like I said you can always pick up one and get the other later, no use in arguing when the dsi (xl) is just factually better for ds games.

True but the OP didn't really clarify what he was looking for. He just said
            >is the dsi best
Best for what? For the particular use case of playing only DS games, yeah, I suppose it is, but I wouldn't actually know because I never owned one. To me, though, it seems like you're getting into nuance and splitting hairs because you prefer one piece of hardware over the other, which is fine.
If the case is that the OP wants something versatile, then a 3DS is an obvious straight upgrade from the DSi in every conceivable way other than the fuzzy picture and/or unused screen real estate, which I think, for most people, will be nothing more than a minor issue, if it's an issue at all.
I myself wish my N3DS XL never got wet, because I bought a N2DS XL as a replacement, and it doesn't feel nearly as good. The build quality sucks compared to the N3DS XL and it's not as comfortable to hold. But if the N2DS XL had a bunch of new features and could play Switch games, I would say, yeah, in a lot of people's use cases, it's going to be the better option.
            >just buy the original hardware
OP's post is about which one is the best. Regarding what he means by that question, I guess we'll never know.

Best DS model is the original. The lite is a flimsy piece of shit and the d-pads on both it and the DSi, and every d-pad the DS family had since even, are all too small and cramped. The fat DS is so much better in that regard it's unreal.

I had a DS Lite and a DSi XL, and I liked the lite better. On the Lite, I liked having the GBA slot, especially for the Gen 4 Pokemon games, which let you transfer pokemon over from the Gen 3 games. I'm not sure, but I figure other games must have done something similar. It did feel flimsy, but mine took abuse pretty well without ever breaking.
The XL was very inconvenient to carry, and even though the screen was bigger, it was the same res, so everything looked like it was blown up bigger than it was meant to be. I have fairly big hands, and the XL didn't feel more comfortable to hold or anything. My friend had a regular DSi, and I thought it felt a lot better to hold (also sturdier than my lite).
I don't the DSi is the very best DS revision, but it's good. If it had a GBA slot, it would be perfect.

DSi > DS > DS Lite
DS Lite feels cheap and has a very bad dpad. No I don't care that it can play GBA games, I have a GBA for that.

I wouldn't call it the best, but I had some damn good memories with it.
Nothin' like comin' home from school, playing some games, lookin' at all the cool shit on Flipnote Hatena, and then little while later using your DSi to look up porn.
All on the same little handheld.
I miss that era so much.
