Not at all, this is companies trimming off all the useless managers and blue hairs they hired to make their quarterlies look good when they were making high profits
It was better to higher more employees and look good rather than pay taxes with the same money.
Now they're letting all the dead weight go and the homosexuals who were in adult day care are shocked and shitting and pissing themselves.

This is what people who think company finance functions like a video game don't get.
Companies don't just sit on money, they spend it (Because otherwise its just going straight to the government anyway)

Phil Spencer is literally the worst most incompetent out of touch CEO in the history of gaming who FRICKING REFUSED to listen to what gamers want.
This homie could have EASILY beaten Sony and Nintendo by putting out weird crazy AA games like the OG Xbox and early Xbox 360 on top of stuff like Halo but NOPE, can't have any more Banjo Kazooies it wouldn't take 5 years to develop and then cancel and there aren't enough hideous manjawed offensive caricature level minority characters.

I want to return to an era when games didn't take 6+ years, 800 people, and still turn out to be a disappointment. Can't we just have more some B to AA games that are experimental and good? Maybe Hi-Fi Rush didn't break sales records. But what if they could generate several Hi-Fi Rush like games per year? That could generate momentum and influence a more positive trend in gaming. MS has the money and the platform to do it. Something like what Sony used to have with JapanStudio before every game had to be a movie-game and sell 12 million copies.
      >It's a game about catching monkeys: green lit
      >only enemies are bosses; has exploration and is moody: green lit

    >ctrl+f tax code
    >0 results
US companies can't deduct software dev salaries from their tax obligations anymore, that's why so many places not just gaming orgs are firing lots of people.

    >Before the TCJA, IRC Section 174 allowed taxpayers to deduct research or experimental expenditures (pre-2022 R&E expenditures) in the tax year incurred. Taxpayers could also elect to capitalize and amortize these pre-2022 R&E expenditures over not less than 60 months, beginning in the month the taxpayer first benefitted from the research. A taxpayer that did not expense or capitalize and amortize IRC Section 174 pre-2022 R&E expenditures had to treat the costs as chargeable to a capital account, as IRC Section 174 did not provide any cost recovery provisions for those amounts.
    >The TCJA primarily modified IRC Section 174 by (1) requiring capitalization and amortization of SRE expenditures, (2) classifying all software development costs as SRE expenditures, and (3) restricting recovery of SRE expenditures until the end of the amortization period, even if the research is abandoned, retired or disposed.

Not so much a crash, it's just that a ton of companies saw the trend during COVID, over-hired, over-borrowed or over-promised their profits so much that they're having to lay off jobs because earnings decreases over COVID. It's currently across the entire IT industry.

People are getting tired of the technological hold over modern society and how we operate. Social media is dying. AI will make white collar workers obsolete in a decade. If you're entire job involves being in front of a computer all day you need to change careers now.
