I'm trying to play some PS2 games through the pcsm emulator but they go so slow. Loading screens taking up almost 10 seconds, sometimes more.
I don't use emulators a lot so i don't know much beyond basic guides on using them.

what are you trying to play, what are you playing it on, and did you change any settings?
Try the absolute latest version and one of the older stable releases (1.4.0), you might get what you need.
Get PCSX2's nightly build, they run a lot faster and have less bugs, 1.6.0 is only useful for if you want to play online with friends using christian's dns.
Who's Christian?
Some dude that hosted dns servers to bring back online multiplayer to PS2 games. If you want to play, check out Ps2online dot com, most of the time the games are arranged through discord due to the lack of players though.
>Loading screens taking up almost 10 seconds
the horror!
get the newest 64bit nightly build
>get the newest 64bit nightly build
They have 64bit builds now?
You need to download more RAM.
Real PS2 games had some fairly long loadtimes. For PCSX2, enable fast DVD access, however that setting tends break some games.
>Loading screens taking up almost 10 seconds, sometimes more
get a faster ssd
Back in my day it took 10 seconds or more just to load the loading screen.
sounds worse than hell
im barely holding on with 10second loading screens
Grab the latest AVX2 QT nightly build currently its v1.7.3073

If you have an AMD GPU then avoid OpenGL and use Direct3D or Vulkan in the graphics settings.
Enable MTVU Multi Threaded VU1 if you have a decent multi core CPU in the system settings.
Press Tab to toggle 200% fast forward mode or F4 to toggle the framerate limiter.
You are all moronic. There's a turbo function in PCSX2. Bind it to a button and press it when on loading screens. You're welcome.
I use a gaming laptop, and all games (including emulators) run slow when it's not plugged to electricity. That could be your issue.
>I'm too moronic to know how to manage power settings or use tools to disable throttling
>That could be your issue
100% guarantee OPs problem is moronation. Even he's a poorgay who can only afford a 20 year old netbook that's because moronation.

those 10second loading screens are really doing a number on me 🙁
Press alt + F4 multiple times to start turbo mode.
It's emulating the loading screens you tard, it doesn't matter how fast your computer is.
