if this is obtained by playing matches then i don't know why but my save progress isn't saving. i've won 2 mother runs and 1 delirium run and not gotten any of the marks on any of the characters.
Well i managed to get it to work went back and just disabled all the mods and it stopped crashing. Seems like everyone is having a problem cause only one lobby was up its kinda laggy to. I also lost all my completion marks on my chars for some reason
they probably expected it to wipe saves so they implemented a failsafe that takes your achievements on steam and makes a makeshift save in case it happens, maybe

if it's a mod problem I just favourited all the mods I subscribed to, then i unsubscribed, ran the game, disabled the repentance DLC, reinstalled, re-enabled the repentance DLC and re-installed, then enabled the beta. I don't think I had to do that but it told me I had to restart my game to play online because of my mod environment (despite disabling steam cloud and reinstalling) then after game restart it worked

On console I have a consistent 50 Eden tokens or so and on PC I just got a save with 1000000.
I'd still like an infinite token unlock method. Call it autism but you can't really play Isaac effectively and not have some degree of autism.
I'd be way more interested in giving greed mode a shot with them again.
No there isn't any scaling at the moment, although only the amount of boss items is scaled per player, so it's not quite as bad of a beat down as it would be otherwise.
However, bear in mind that the online is currently missing hardmode; that seems like the appropriate place to put scaling in, if they're going to do it.
I believe they're going to be adding a friendly fire option at some point as well, but that's going to be a complete disaster.

when i booted the game up after doing this, the game said all three files were corrupted, but gave me the option to remake them with older data which seemed to do the trick just fine.

I feel like playing certain characters there's unspoken etiquette that forms.
Like the random Azazel I played with took all the damage upgrades the second they appeared, used black hearts on beggars and didn't touch any range upgrade that showed up.
I sort of just said, "Yup, that sounds like an Azazel main." Then I realized I didn't actually have to cross rooms when we were backtracking cause the Azazel was at the next doorway before I hit the halfway point. You learn to adapt.
The lost has a unspoken respect in terms of priority items, I played as the lost and became a demolition expert with ipecac, someone else everyone stepped by for angel crown.

I was playing Tainted Eden and rolled into an Ipecac build. I'm a beast when it comes to Ipecac control but adding in 3 players and trying to understand what they're likely to do the moment they enter a room throws a real wrench into everything.
I like a bit of chaos in Isaac but I can see it being extremely frustrating for any autists going for marks.

How does joining mid match work anyway?
I've just left any lobby that isn't starting up cause without a timer to indicate how long it's likely to be until a floor transition it feels like I could just be waiting forever. Also joining mid match means you don't get completion marks.
Normal Characters and Tainted Characters get the same colored marks.
It's Cyan for Normal and Purple for Hard. Currently there's no way to legitimately get Purple marks or any of the Greed mode marks cause the Beta only has Normal mode turned on. Some dumb testing bullshit on Tyrone's part. He's seriously planning to have it up for two weeks and then take it down for two weeks during the winter holidays.

They already are filtering reports by version number and ignoring everyone who doesn't report things correctly.
At worst they get repeat reports that will be summarily collapsed into an individual case and closed that way unless it can be replicated in a later version
it doesn't even matter anyway, guarantee that the final 1.0 version of online will be exactly identical to this one with the exception of having two more buttons, "hard mode" and "greed"

kilburn also snuck in an unfinished online mode at launch which could be accessed using steam commands, it was very buggy and often desynced. i guess the fine folks over at homielis finally decided to do something with that unfinished code.
correction, it had shitty "little brother" coop since launch where the second player would be a completely gimped baby that couldn't collect items.
Antibirth devs made real true coop, and then Eddy recruited them and we got true coop in Repentance.

There's 500+ co op babies and now they're totally obsolete with true co-op, and also are worthless unlocks

Isaac is an insurmountable coding challenge with complex variables and systems interacting with each other in unexpected ways. When the original Flash version released, it was a buggy mess because Edmund and Florian alone couldn't playtest for every possible scenario. Isaac's first wave of players were unwittingly paying five dollars to playtest and send bug reports for the first released version of Isaac. As a sort of apology, the Halloween update was added to the game.
Glitches and bugs have become tradition for the Binding of Isaac. From Wrath of the Lamb to Repentance, the game was always doomed to remain on some level of unfinished but to say it's unplayable feels like an exaggeration. I can get through like 95% of Isaac without encountering a bug, and the odds of them being devastating is miniscule. The worst thing is that Delirium sucks ass, but I can always tweak the game to my liking by browsing the workshop or modding features in myself.
Seeing anons complain about the online beta being a disaster is dumb because shit like getting your saves deleted were probably among the different reasons Kilburn shelved online co-op in the first place. Isaac Online is a whole other spaghetti monster on top of another, fairly stable spaghetti monster as it's base.
Mate, you're as delusional as an IRL Isaac. It's not about the bugs being tradition or Delirium sucking major ass - it's about a principle. We pay for a product, we expect it to work as promised. "Spaghetti coding" isn't an excuse - get your shit together or don't release until it's ready.

Well i managed to get it to work went back and just disabled all the mods and it stopped crashing. Seems like everyone is having a problem cause only one lobby was up its kinda laggy to. I also lost all my completion marks on my chars for some reason

i know how to do it, the problem is that the backup doesn't work.
desync from the steam cloud in properties, it can overwrite when you try to load from a backup
if it's a mod problem I just favourited all the mods I subscribed to, then i unsubscribed, ran the game, disabled the repentance DLC, reinstalled, re-enabled the repentance DLC and re-installed, then enabled the beta. I don't think I had to do that but it told me I had to restart my game to play online because of my mod environment (despite disabling steam cloud and reinstalling) then after game restart it worked

i usually run out because i use eden as a way to get those last annoying items into my completion page.
On console I have a consistent 50 Eden tokens or so and on PC I just got a save with 1000000.
I'd still like an infinite token unlock method. Call it autism but you can't really play Isaac effectively and not have some degree of autism.
I'd be way more interested in giving greed mode a shot with them again.

No there isn't any scaling at the moment, although only the amount of boss items is scaled per player, so it's not quite as bad of a beat down as it would be otherwise.
However, bear in mind that the online is currently missing hardmode; that seems like the appropriate place to put scaling in, if they're going to do it.
I believe they're going to be adding a friendly fire option at some point as well, but that's going to be a complete disaster.

okay, i somehow managed to fix my broken saves.
dunno how much is actually needed, but here's what i did:
>maybe turn off steam cloud sync before doing this, and then turn it back on after, not sure how important this is but if this doesn't work try it
>go to documents > my games > binding of isaac rebirth
>look for the bottommost (if you sort by name, ascending at least) rep_persistentgamedata.dat set
>make note of the numbers in front of the bottommost 3
>delete them, and replace with the second-bottom set, replacing the numbers in front with the newer ones'
>go to program files > steam > userdata > (You) > 250900 > remote
>do what you did before and replace the files with the older ones, but shave off the number entirely instead
when i booted the game up after doing this, the game said all three files were corrupted, but gave me the option to remake them with older data which seemed to do the trick just fine.

I uninstalled the game after getting dead god in 1 file, the other day I felt like playing again and reinstalled the game expecting my save to be the same as before and it was missing a bunch of marks. No idea why and the backup I thought I made before uninstalling did not help. I just wanna keep my progress.
I think if you go to the stats page and press alt+F2 your game save syncs to your achievments, so if you had dead god you would get it back

I feel like playing certain characters there's unspoken etiquette that forms.
Like the random Azazel I played with took all the damage upgrades the second they appeared, used black hearts on beggars and didn't touch any range upgrade that showed up.
I sort of just said, "Yup, that sounds like an Azazel main." Then I realized I didn't actually have to cross rooms when we were backtracking cause the Azazel was at the next doorway before I hit the halfway point. You learn to adapt.

I was playing Tainted Eden and rolled into an Ipecac build. I'm a beast when it comes to Ipecac control but adding in 3 players and trying to understand what they're likely to do the moment they enter a room throws a real wrench into everything.
I like a bit of chaos in Isaac but I can see it being extremely frustrating for any autists going for marks.

I've just left any lobby that isn't starting up cause without a timer to indicate how long it's likely to be until a floor transition it feels like I could just be waiting forever. Also joining mid match means you don't get completion marks.

Normal Characters and Tainted Characters get the same colored marks.
It's Cyan for Normal and Purple for Hard. Currently there's no way to legitimately get Purple marks or any of the Greed mode marks cause the Beta only has Normal mode turned on. Some dumb testing bullshit on Tyrone's part. He's seriously planning to have it up for two weeks and then take it down for two weeks during the winter holidays.

correction, it had shitty "little brother" coop since launch where the second player would be a completely gimped baby that couldn't collect items.
Antibirth devs made real true coop, and then Eddy recruited them and we got true coop in Repentance.

Isaac is an insurmountable coding challenge with complex variables and systems interacting with each other in unexpected ways. When the original Flash version released, it was a buggy mess because Edmund and Florian alone couldn't playtest for every possible scenario. Isaac's first wave of players were unwittingly paying five dollars to playtest and send bug reports for the first released version of Isaac. As a sort of apology, the Halloween update was added to the game.
Glitches and bugs have become tradition for the Binding of Isaac. From Wrath of the Lamb to Repentance, the game was always doomed to remain on some level of unfinished but to say it's unplayable feels like an exaggeration. I can get through like 95% of Isaac without encountering a bug, and the odds of them being devastating is miniscule. The worst thing is that Delirium sucks ass, but I can always tweak the game to my liking by browsing the workshop or modding features in myself.
Seeing anons complain about the online beta being a disaster is dumb because shit like getting your saves deleted were probably among the different reasons Kilburn shelved online co-op in the first place. Isaac Online is a whole other spaghetti monster on top of another, fairly stable spaghetti monster as it's base.
