You are the one coping
I have never seen a more annoying compilation of utter dogshit bosses, obnoxious turret sections, scripted non gameplay sequences, forced stealth sections, slow boring horse modes where you are supposed to be overwhelmed but chase the enemy and QTEs. Mikami went above and beyond the call of duty and took RE5 and added an even worse inventory system, and more unnecessary break ups from actions.
>keeper >weak
He's one of the few boss fights that punishes you for not having supplies. It drags on far longer than it needs to. Had to redo that whole fricking fight multiple times.
I enjoyed it a lot. It's great game by Mikami with a satisfying and addictive gameplay loop, especially when you try to get all the upgrades. Interesting premise with good execution and absorbing pacing, although they threw the actual plot into the DLC expansions.
Have fun, I enjoyed it vastly more than the first. First game in a long time I didn't want to end. Unpopular opinion depending on who you tell, but I prefer the second to the first. >aiming and movement far less clunky >kino hub room to return to to chill with a cat >crafting >actual skill tree >story is about saving your e-girl daughter and bringing down an evil organization >wide map to explore >hidden events within the map >shooting range minigames
I was honestly bummed to learn that tokyo ghostwire originally started as Evil Within 3. I really want another game.
>difficulty
Think I went with middle of the road, that no save mode is just insane. Stealth is pretty OP as you'll save a shit ton of ammo, but with weapons upgrades you'll be pretty OP by the end of the game regardless.
>guys what if we make an horror game, right??? But get this... OPEN WORLD >Oh and, let's throw in some crafting as well, kids like that, right???
Frick no, it was passable at best.
Impossible, they got lucky making TEW1 as good (yet flawed) as it was, TEW2 and GWT proved they actually have no talent, it's over for them.
>narrow corridors and scary monsters good >open world and scary monster bad
corridors and scary monsters good
In this one, you're forced to fight. >>open world and scary monster bad
In this one you can just run away, since the maps are massive.
Which one is better for a horror game?
i have been kinda interested a lot in evil within
do you know anything about the console commands?
it has a lot of interesting stuff and i'd love to dick around but most of the commands have been removed in the Retail version apparently.
Though i think you could bypass that somehow, tried a lot of stuff but never got them to work.
>colourful
Yes because turning quite literally every single trhing on screen for its entire duration gray is moronic and serves no purpose other than assault my eyes.
It is bad taste and a failute of understanding sytlistic usage of such effects.
They are not just slapped on for the entire time, they have a time and place.
The first one? Absolutely not, pure dogshit start to finish.
I had the lowest possible expectations for the sequel and was surprised by how much better it was; enjoyable gameplay and decently fun exploration/stealth elements, while the first game was just a shitty RE4 set in straight corridors. The story was still utter shit but it was more or less ignorable so didn't bother as much as the cringe """twist""" in 1.
This game filtered a shit ton of people didn't it?
The monster designs and area aesthetics were top notch. I liked the areas and how trippy and sudden the transitions were. I remember hearing a lot of complaints about instant death situations but it didn't feel that bad to me. I am actually one of the 7 people who like the cinematic black bars and all those filters. Made it feel more like a movie and gave me actual headaches. Sadly the second ditched everything that made the first good and had some of the most boring ass areas i'd seen in a game. Shooting somehow felt worse too. The monsters were still pretty good though and I appreciated them giving Seb more of a character.
>This game filtered a shit ton of people didn't it?
People went into it thinking the game is rootin' tootin' point-and-shootin' RE4.2 and it absolutely is not due to the difficulty of the game - evasion is the name of the game.
It is why the second game actually IS watered down horror with a vast increase in shooting designed explicitly to appeal to the brainlets.
I really liked the intro stage and thought the rest of the game would be like that. Limping around and trying not to get killed under such an adverse condition was thrilling and felt like a real survival horror element.
Was pretty disappointed when it turned out just to be a more modern RE4 in terms of gameplay.
the game always marketed itself as an anti to the then popular run for your life horror games where you didn't really fight back (outlast, amnesia etc).
>guys what if we make an horror game, right??? But get this... OPEN WORLD >Oh and, let's throw in some crafting as well, kids like that, right???
Frick no, it was passable at best.
It felt pointless, you had to go back and forth through those boring maintenance tunnels, wasting your time with what seemed a glorified loading screen, and they not only decided to make an open world map, they also added npcs you could talk to and even side quests, it seemed so strange given the urgency of finding your daughter, it just didn't fit with the tone of the game, I think that linear and open ended levels are much better for this genre.
I LITERALLY just finished 2 and came here. No where near as good as 1.They're kind of both shit though. I really liked the ideas of 1 and the gameplay eventually clicked. Zipperheads cannot write a good story to save their life though
I remember playing this and thinking "why aren't I just playing RE4 instead?"
And then i went and played RE4 instead and never came back to finish this.
TEW was a mad rollercoaster ride, the best haunted house simulator of last gen and reminded me of RE4 goodness. If it didnt take itself so seriously, it could have been GOTG contender. Also, technical issues, I know, but those were patched luckily.
TEW2 felt neutered. There was so much downtime between horror encounters, there were much fewer, and the designs were mostly dull. Even when they reintroduced some of the bosses of TEW1, it felt soulless, no impact at all. I still liked it though.
I was having my doubts about the third game of Tango going further down the boring open level or even openworld structure, and then tokyo happened.
Kino monster design
Amalagam alpha best boi
You just lowered your expectations
It's still a mediocre product
I think its fun, i just hated how weak the keeper was, the design was the best one
>It's still a mediocre product

Good man.
It's better than resident evil 4
it just suffers from too many cutscenes and gameplay section being shorter than 4's
I enjoyed it a lot. It's great game by Mikami with a satisfying and addictive gameplay loop, especially when you try to get all the upgrades. Interesting premise with good execution and absorbing pacing, although they threw the actual plot into the DLC expansions.
>although they threw the actual plot into the DLC expansions.
I completely ignored the DLCs. Should I go back to replay it with them?
The kidman DLC is the one with the plot.
Let me guess, you GOT how matches worked
Why was there such a big fujo following for this game?
I started playing Evil Within 2 a few days ago, really good

What's the best difficulty and upgrades to go with? I think I heard the stealth shit is overpowered as frick.

Which one is better for a horror game?
you can run but you cant hide
Apart from all the parts of the world like bushes that explicitly let you hide.
That's what she said.
Enemies don't follow you forever since they're tied to the zone you found them in, once you're far away, they'll go back to their spawn area.
I've disabled the shitty filter and I encourage everyone to do the same.
Makes the game way more atmospheric and the locations look more distinctive.
which filter
The one that turns everything blue/gray
http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2021/09/the-evil-within-dx11.html
Nope I filtered the filter
i have been kinda interested a lot in evil within
do you know anything about the console commands?

I've only messed around with timestop and the debug camera.
>filtered by a filter
You made it more atmospheric by making it brighter and colourful?
>brighter
gamma levels are untouched
>colourful

the atmosphere was great, it was sometimes a struggle to progress but at least it wasnt always a streamlined borefest like tew2

You mean you wanted something more difficult? Maybe Akumu would be nice for you.
God i hope they can bounce back from ghostwire tokyo
Impossible, they got lucky making TEW1 as good (yet flawed) as it was, TEW2 and GWT proved they actually have no talent, it's over for them.
TEW2 was fine you moron.
>guys what if we make an horror game, right??? But get this... OPEN WORLD

Yes zoomy chan - all the best horror games are closed and relatively linear experiences.
Evil within 2 is not open world
did you cry about RE8 being ""open world""
I didn't play RE8, it looked like shit and RE7 wasn't that good anyway.
dunno why they made that shit game and not just Evil Within 3
>the troony within
yikes!
I LITERALLY just finished 2 and came here. No where near as good as 1.They're kind of both shit though. I really liked the ideas of 1 and the gameplay eventually clicked. Zipperheads cannot write a good story to save their life though

Cool game, got boring fast though.
This is the last game my cat sat with me to play. I can't look at it anymore.
I didn't enjoy both 1+2. Bland and mediocre.

I actually really liked 2 but 1 is top tier kino. I wish they didn't change Sebastian's VA.
They unfortunately changed everyone's VA
>tfw no more Jennifer Carpenter as Kidman
seriously the aiming on this game fricking suck AASSSSs BIG BOOTY ASSSSS
