And the shape of the object too.
A cylinder bigger than the square hole won't fit, of course. A rectangular prism would not either, if it's too large.
But said cylinder fits in the whole because the widest point isn't greater than the circumference of the hole.
Not to mention it's shape. Pointed surface makes it easier to fit in a whole.

that's where the gas piston lives. excess gas pressure from the barrel forces the piston back cycling the gun
>moron, all that extra metal is added weight that serves almost no purpose even if the cartridge your using is high powered
NTA but you’re making a lot of assumptions about space-age materials science. Maybe it’s something like titanium which is absurdly light for its extreme rigidity, which is important to prevent warping in extreme pressure differentials like shipping equipment across the vacuum of space, or utilizing it on planets with increased gravity and atmospheric pressure? If so, a thickened barrel will add negligible mass (perhaps even desirable mass in terms of mitigating recoil) and will reduce catastrophic failures due to the brittleness of the material?
Maybe it’s not barrel. Maybe it’s a handguard for the actual barrel that encases it entirely to hold coolant and protect the hand in C-clamp because the gun fires extremely hot in oxygen-heavy environments like space ships.
>a thickened barrel will add negligible mass (perhaps even desirable mass in terms of mitigating recoil)
this doesn't make any sense. more mass will always be bad for carrying something around, and is ineffective for reducing recoil if it's just a few kilograms more. if anything, you would use a different type of ammo for reducing recoil instead of low-tech powder ammo.
Anonymous
>you would use a different type of ammo for reducing recoil instead of low-tech powder ammo
Basic physics says any momentum on the projectile exiting the gun MUST also be applied back to the gun itself. You can’t “reduce recoil” by changing the propellant, except by reducing the power of the projectile.
But increasing barrel mass does reduce recoil somewhat, since the same force to more mass produces less velocity. Granted it wouldn’t be much, but if a gun being made of titanium instead of steel reduces its mass from 5lbs to 1lb, that’s 5x the recoil.

yes >The Salyut 3, although called a "civilian" station, was equipped with a "self-defence" gun which had been designed for use aboard the station, and whose design is attributed to Alexander Nudelman.[1] Some accounts claim the station was equipped with a Nudelman-Rikhter "Vulkan" gun, which was a variant of the 23 mm Nudelman aircraft cannon, or possibly a Nudelman NR-30 30 mm gun.[12] Later Russian sources indicate that the gun was the virtually unknown (in the West) Rikhter R-23.[13] These claims have reportedly been verified by Pavel Popovich, who had visited the station in orbit, as commander of Soyuz 14.[12] Due to potential shaking of the station, in-orbit tests of the weapon with cosmonauts in the station were ruled out.[1] The gun was fixed to the station in such a way that the only way to aim would have been to change the orientation of the entire station.[1][12] Following the last manned mission to the station, the gun was commanded by the ground to be fired; some sources say it was fired to depletion,[12] while other sources say three test firings took place during the Salyut 3 mission.[1]

gas chamber for forcing small israelites inside the gun to chamber the next round
Space is bigger. The explosion bounces back on the gun in the lab setting because the gases hit the vaccum chamber wall and scatter back. In space, unless they bounce off something, they continue forward. Otherwise rockets would melt themselves.
>>okay so then post for us a manual and schematics on the operation and construction of a space gun

Cold welds don't happen often enough to be a fatal issue, the oxidation that happens in atmosphere is enough to coat and protect metals from it for a reasonable period.
For firearms manufacturers, it would be a consideration just like jamming from mud and sand are tested against.

because if this thread is any indication, they don't want to be seen as those "other guys" or "/k/gays". Thats literally it, if they care then it affects their image of themselves so they excuse it.
>BethSoft are ten years behind the rest of the industry
name any other game where you can drop something from your inventory then pick it up using the physics engine and bully people with it until they aggro you and the guards show up to issue you a fine
Thing is, Beth wanted people to play it in 3rd person. 4 and 76 are made with 3rd person in mind. Thats also why left-handed guns AND letterbox aspect ratios.
Enemy doesn't react to 10 bullets entering his back and drops like he just got unplugged while in the Matrix. ZERO impact from those bullets, the other enemy sprints through bullets like they're not there. Zombies in Resident Evil 1 (1996) seem more alive.
First guy was still in his standing up animation, very typical bethesda issue. Second guy seemed to react to the last shot as he died, and did so in the location he got hit, which is a small improvement to the death animations of Skyrim and Fallout 4.
Seems like the animations related to impact are tied to health, the guys in the second gunfight all reacted to gunshots just before they died.
Doesn't fix the bullet sponge issue of the rest of the shots being ignored, and it's why I always go for high powered shotguns and rifles. Unloading 15 rounds into a single guy just kills it for me.
He kept running after being shot....yeah too much foreshadowing. This game will be so shit to the point we'll have to buy it to experience the hilarious shitshow
do you think they are going to fix that?
they've been working on the game for almost 10 years and even put it in the trailer, they dont care or know any better

experimental tech that didn't work because materials as we have them can't handle it. someone else in the thread said it already. no guarantees they're using the same metals
>experimental tech that didn't work because materials as we have them can't handle it
wait, so thin barrels work fine on revolvers, but thick barrels not, because the material was too weak?
can you explain why a thinner barrel is stronger than a thick one on a gun?
its not that the thick barrels don't work on revolvers with inline bores. that delves into the point the k side has made. it is too heavy. but that really wouldn't matter in space. its weightless. all you have to worry about in space is recoil and power

>could just have made laser guns with battery ammo packs and nobody would give a shit >instead decide to showcase a gunpowder weapon that ejects whole bullets after a shot from square barrels
but why?
only laser design i found annoying in fallout 4 was the spinning barrels for automatic lasers. maintaining collimation must mean that those little boxes must be the greatest shock dampeners in the universe
Except for the laser musket, I though a majority of the other laser weapons looked good. I esp. liked design of Institute weapons apart from that they take up half the screen.
I'm just saying: People gave them shit for the square laser guns. I personally liked them for the most part (the stupid laser musket was one that I can't get over though).
Guns that use bullets would be far better in a place with next to no atmosphere, or in the vacuum of space. The absolute best weapons would be coil guns. Laser and plasma weaponry in space is not possible, or extremely hard.

Can a chemical-propellant-based gun even fire in an environment with an atmosphere that doesn’t support combustion similar to earth’s? Too little oxygen or any chemical in the atmosphere that inhibited burning or other reactions could cause slow or improper burn (or failure on primer strike), and the opposite could cause too fast combustion which could lead to critical failure of the barrel.
Anon, the combustion that fires the bullet is entirely sealed. That's why guns work in space, they don't care about outside factors because the outside has no impact on the explosion created inside the casing.
That doesn’t sound right. As soon as the bullet exits the shell casing, the atmospheric gas starts to get in. MOST of the force on the bullet is caused by it accelerating down the barrel as the expanding gases continue to burn. That’s why longer barrels fire bullets faster.
The same force that is propelling the bullet would also be pushing out the natural atmosphere of wherever you happened to be. The explosive force generated from within the casing of the bullet has to go somewhere, and that somewhere is projected through the barrel of the gun.
Anonymous
That’s a good point although turbulence being what it is it’s unlikely NO external atmosphere would get in. And that’s assuming the atmosphere doesn’t get in anyway when it’s NOT being fired. Leave a gun underwater too long and you can ruin the rounds as water may eventually get into the casings, and this is easier for atmospheric gas. It’s not a problem for environments that are just low oxygen but for any environment which contains gases that actively inhibit combustion it could still cause problems.
Still, it does seem like a chemical propellant would be more reliable than I originally thought.

Anonymous
Say sike right now.

If you're in an environment where the atmospheric gas is getting through the seal made between the bullet and casing then you're in some real deep shit and probably have bigger things to worry about (AND probably have a gun with bullets designed for that environment).

Anonymous
If you’re in a high-oxygen environment (which seems likely in a space station) your muzzle flash will set fire to the air around you. That’s another point to consider. At 30% atmospheric oxygen, wet grass will catch fire. It doesn’t take a lot.

I mean I guess technically the only true railgun that exists DOES have enormous muzzle flash but thats because it has a massive slug with a flat front that compresses the shit out of the air in front of it. On a proper aerodynamic projectile it would be okay. One more reason a railgun would be the best choice for a wide variety of environments.

>a high-oxygen environment (which seems likely in a space station)
Google the Apollo 1 accident.
why would air get into the barrel when it's experiencing massive pressure from the expanding gases? At most you could have cycling issues if the gases from the round alone wouldn't be enough in the absence of atmos - and even that pressure can be easily modified in a lot of guns.
Traditional firearms do have an issue in the vacuum of space, and it's a lack of heat dissipation ability compared to an atmosphere. Old machine guns, including the one that the fallout 4 assault rifle is based off of, were water cooled to via a tank jacketed around the barrel prevent the barrel from getting too hot undersustained fire. Modern machine guns due to changes in doctrine and improvements in technology are usually air cooled, meaning they have no inbuilt cooling system, instead allowing built up heat to passively dissipate by ambient air flowing over the barrel.
In a vacuum, you don't have anything around the barrel to transfer heat to, which can cause problems realistically.
Of course none of this matters because it's a fricking video game.
>company makes a racing game >but all the tires are square instead of round >visually the cars drive as if their tires were still round
it would still be wrong, because cars don't use square tires
ummm they are actually energy weapons, the bullets are just energy storage and they are ejected when the energy is spent
they are designed to look like bullets for nostalgia reasons
because it's a symptom. if you can go so wrong on such an obvious easy detail like that (and the obviousness is key), what promise is there that you know what you're doing when it comes to everything more important? it's like an admission of total incompetence. the cope is to say it's just a detail, it doesn't matter-- the reality is that it would have been trivial to get it right, so if you can't even do that, then what CAN you do?

they're well designed and have a distinctive style. whether that style made it successfully into the actual game is another question. in my experience most concept art fails to reach its potential because the 3d artist intermediaries don't quite nail it, which is definitely the case with this art vs. the actual appearance of the weapons in fallout 3/nv

they are literally barrels with a handle. a piece of scrap from a car crash is distinctive too, but that doesn't make it good design.

no, the fallout laser guns are LITERALLY barrels/bricks with a handle. if you want to make it look silly, just go with early laser rifle concepts.

those look cool imo, what didn't look cool was the plastic white toy weapons in fallout 4. I would take these over those any day of the week
They have an aesthetic, but I can't call them aesthetically pleasing.
All of the guns shown in Starfield are too nerf-like, big polymer furniture without any obvious purpose, especially the laser gun which looks like a plastic 4x4 with half a car battery strapped on.
Try to imagine the player running around with multiple of these stupidly big batteries in a harness, he'd look like a pack mule.
I don't care if the barrel and hole are square but at least make them consistent. If the barrel is going to be square make the shells square, I couldn't care less about how realistic it is.
>Who says that in the future shotgun shells and barrells can't be shaped differently?
physics and common sense generally do. the chamber of a firearm as well as the cartridge casing are pressure vessels, and the optimal shape for a pressure vessel is some sort of cyllinder or sphere. granted shotgun shells are very low pressure, but it could be an issue with things like rifle rounds. the other big issue is that getting a square shell into a square hole is less intuitive than getting a round shell into a round hole. There really is no good reason for that particular weapon to be designed that way.
To anyone here that doesn't have the slightest frick how a gun works, round cartridges in square barrel would never work because the casings would expand to fit the square chamber and explode. If the projectile even managed to fire from the gun it wouldn't go very far at all because the barrel makes bullets spin and build velocity, and that wouldn't be possible with a square barrel. If this is a rifle, it would be completely non-functional, if it's a shotgun, it would still be non-functional. Bethesda is shit.
I don't care about pronouns shit until it's in a game with voice acting, just because that means wasting more money on it to have lines for using he/she/them
Hardly, because 99,5% of the dialogue in the previous Bethesda games had them speaking to you directly. That leaves you with with only a few extra sentences that need to be voiced in.
My main point is I don't care about pandering shit like muh pronouns until it actually begins having a cost on development at all. I didn't care From Software made Male/Female Body A/B since it's just changing two words.
How many guns did they even show in that gameplay? There was no melee combat shown right? I know it's in because some of the backgrounds mention giving you extra melee damage.
They have an aesthetic, but I can't call them aesthetically pleasing.

, one that looked like a POP and a pistol is all iirc.
There's a pirate with a knife shown charging but no actual melee combat shown.
Total guns shown, in order of appearance: >Eon Pistol
Looks equivalent to FO4's 10mm, can be modded to hell >Grendel submachine gun
a P90 clone using caseless ammunition, has a glitchy magwell and an ammo counter built into the mag >Coachman shotgun
Blocky double barrel shotgun that ejects full rifle cartidges instead of shells (99% sure it's a placeholder asset) >Equinox Laser gun
Semi-auto blocky laser gun with a fatass battery as a mag. >Maelstrom sub(?)machine gun
normal magwell, kinda odd looking with a tube going over the gun connecting to an ammo counter >AR-99 machine gun
A proper automatic rifle, shown both barebones and with heavy modifications (pic related).
Ah, missed one gun, it was used for a 1-second shot and was never shown firing.
I think it's called the PD-3A, and it has a very odd magazine that seems to either hold 25 rounds of caseless ammunition, or is a battery pack for an energy weapon either way, it also has an ammo counter on the side like other guns do.
Out of every gun shown so far, this is the only one that actually seems unique, not just a ported over gun from Fallout 4 with a new model slapped on.
I'm looking over each of the guns in 4k and I noticed the Maelstrom has interesting casings. Grey with markings on it and a brass primer.
Much better defined than the single color brass cartridge the shotgun spits out.

I saw it as a joke, just like the fricking game. It seems filled with nothing but bullshit to flesh the game out. I bet you if you do end up playing it, you won't "explore" most if not all of these extra planets outside of one or two. Then, the worst thing is, you don't get to fly to them, you just select them and I don't know why everyone was expecting something amazing.
Way I see it, ships are player bases that are actually connected to gameplay.
The settlement shit in FO4 was okay but it was just a place to drop your stuff off at and use the workbenches, you only put effort in if you enjoy playing dress up with a plot of land. The raid mechanic was barebones and didn't give any real sense of achievement.
Taking your home with you as you interact with the game will give it a lot more worth in the long run.
I do hope the settlements actually matter more since they mention npcs you recruit, so they aren't all just generic sameface NPC's but have even a little character.
And that there's an actual reason to make them.
>Build settlement focused around producing resources over time >Load up resources onto my big rig >Space truck over to another settlement >Upgrade that settlement using the resources and collect what they produced while I'm there >Space truck over to one of the cities >Sell the remaining raw resources for cash to upgrade the ship >Repeat
LET'S GO SPACE TRUCKIN' CMON!
Well that is essentially what trucking would be. Hell my favourite run of New Vegas was as a high repair/gun/science guy and I used mods so I could craft guns and robots and sell them for a profit, travelling around with a few bots for personal protection and to carry my guns as I sold them like a travelling merchant.
>Todd make a thousand empty planets for modders to fill up >They'll just put their mods in the actual games planets
Why do modders do this? We saw this shit with New Vegas, NCR had tons of content and the Legion frick all, yet the vast majority of mods focus on the NCR or have you work alongside them.
Legion just didn't have enough charm. Same thing happened with the Institute in Fallout 4, there's only two noteworthy mods that do stuff beyond changing gun and armor models.
Legion in game were a fricking dead faction with nobody interesting and no real chance to explore them
NCR got mod content because the NCR is more popular and doesn't look like a bunch of drugged up gangers
Honestly, I kind of love this incompetent shit Todd pulls in every game. It's part of the charm of their games. We all know they release full of bugs with horrible performance issues and hair-brained decisions like the OP's image but frick me if they aren't full of unrefined pure SOVL.

Is it confirmed that its actually a shotgun and not a double rifle? That would at least be some saving grace.
>double rifle? That would at least be some saving grace
I mean, if you forget about the rectangle barrels for round bullets, ejecting the entire bullet after firing and the thickness of the barrels...
I know but at the very least they got that rifle ammo --> rifle instead of rifle ammo --> shotgun. At LEAST that is correct.
moron, all that extra metal is added weight that serves almost no purpose even if the cartridge your using is high powered because the point of failure will be the locking mechanism not the barrel. Its completely moronic to have the barrel so thick and looks stupid.
oh look that isn't a technical manual or field kit guide. whats up larping fatass? basedsperging about gun realism all you have?
are you really getting mad over anons pointing out how moronic the starfield design is?

What technical manuals? What are you talking about? Not studies or any other sort of photographic evidence, but these "technical manuals" that nobody's ever heard of. You want a how-to guide? A step by step instruction or something? Describe what you're attempting to move the goalpost to a little better please.
you've already been told why moron. You just keep plugging your ears pretending not to listen. Why would you need some space manual for tech that exists today? Do you honestly believe that the simple action of using a gun on anywhere not on earth somehow changes the mechanism and design considerations of it? That taking it off earth makes it into some device that can't be understood?
The ultimate conclusion to this shit cope:
"I was merely trolling". What a sad frick.
STOP MAKING FUN OF ME! FRICK YOU moronS WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND GUNS! I'M TIRED OF IT. IT'S NOT HARD FOR THEM TO BE MADE SUPER REALISTIC LIKE IN BATTLEFIELD WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND ABOUT THAT?

Way to out yourself as someone who does not know what he meant, I am not even that anon but I would suggest to stop replying to a conversation that you don't understand, or maybe ask if you don't know things....or insult people, like that will achieve anything.
round things can fit in square things you mega moron. A square thing cannot fit in a round thing.
Depends on the size of the object autismo
And the shape of the object too.
A cylinder bigger than the square hole won't fit, of course. A rectangular prism would not either, if it's too large.
But said cylinder fits in the whole because the widest point isn't greater than the circumference of the hole.
Not to mention it's shape. Pointed surface makes it easier to fit in a whole.
What's the upper cilinder thing above the barrel for anyway?
that's where the gas piston lives. excess gas pressure from the barrel forces the piston back cycling the gun
>defending todd's mediocrity
>moron, all that extra metal is added weight that serves almost no purpose even if the cartridge your using is high powered
It’s a space gun. Not an Earth gun.
>a thickened barrel will add negligible mass (perhaps even desirable mass in terms of mitigating recoil)
this doesn't make any sense. more mass will always be bad for carrying something around, and is ineffective for reducing recoil if it's just a few kilograms more. if anything, you would use a different type of ammo for reducing recoil instead of low-tech powder ammo.
>you would use a different type of ammo for reducing recoil instead of low-tech powder ammo
It's the aperture method. More bullet area more damage
because I'm not a virgin who whines about a frame of animation in a game that takes place in sci fi space shit
okay so then post for us a manual and schematics on the operation and construction of a space gun. any response other than a machining manual or/and field kit is you admitting you're being a pathetic virgin gravy seal about it
>okay so then post for us a manual and schematics on the operation and construction of a space gun
you mean a completely normal gun?
>he thinks a controlled lab vacuum is the same as space
yes
>The Salyut 3, although called a "civilian" station, was equipped with a "self-defence" gun which had been designed for use aboard the station, and whose design is attributed to Alexander Nudelman.[1] Some accounts claim the station was equipped with a Nudelman-Rikhter "Vulkan" gun, which was a variant of the 23 mm Nudelman aircraft cannon, or possibly a Nudelman NR-30 30 mm gun.[12] Later Russian sources indicate that the gun was the virtually unknown (in the West) Rikhter R-23.[13] These claims have reportedly been verified by Pavel Popovich, who had visited the station in orbit, as commander of Soyuz 14.[12] Due to potential shaking of the station, in-orbit tests of the weapon with cosmonauts in the station were ruled out.[1] The gun was fixed to the station in such a way that the only way to aim would have been to change the orientation of the entire station.[1][12] Following the last manned mission to the station, the gun was commanded by the ground to be fired; some sources say it was fired to depletion,[12] while other sources say three test firings took place during the Salyut 3 mission.[1]

in space. guns work completely normal in space.
gas chamber for forcing small israelites inside the gun to chamber the next round
why would it not?
Space is bigger. The explosion bounces back on the gun in the lab setting because the gases hit the vaccum chamber wall and scatter back. In space, unless they bounce off something, they continue forward. Otherwise rockets would melt themselves.
>>okay so then post for us a manual and schematics on the operation and construction of a space gun
Not that anon but I do remember like ten or so years ago reading schematics on a gun that was designed (But I think never made) For use by NASA in space and on the moon. But Googling it now, as you might imagine, only results in hundreds of thousands of call of duty concept art and their fanart. I genuinely despise social media and web 2.0
NASA never made a gun for space. Russians have one on the ISS, but it is incase they land in a remote area to defend against wildlife in Siberia.
>Russians have one on the ISS
[x] Doubt
Space is cold as frick and would cold weld the moving parts of a gun together
probably
Cold welds don't happen often enough to be a fatal issue, the oxidation that happens in atmosphere is enough to coat and protect metals from it for a reasonable period.
For firearms manufacturers, it would be a consideration just like jamming from mud and sand are tested against.

the fact you have to qualify it with other words and not just say shotgun means they've done the design work necessary for it to be not a regular modern earth tech shotgun.
true, it even compensates for recoil by not shooting anything and instead ejecting the entire bullet
they havent, they put wrong ammo in and its spitting out unshot ammo

Imagine thinking your small, smelly group of /k/ authentics actually is cared about on a broader scale. you fricks get ignored 24/7 and its hilarious.

Bethesda makes absolute shit israelite games, they are like golems, dumb and stupid and full of shit and worthless.
Bethesda sucks major ass, i get it. Bethesda is the shittiest american company.
Kant wont be angry he's involved in this image.
most writers are fricking disgusting drunks and junkies and slobs, its always funny how high class people think that artists are high class at all
hell they wont even pay most artists enough to even larp high class
>Bethesda doesn't give a frick
That is pretty much clear
what is this, criticism of the transition between outdoors lighting and indoors?
its rough but anything more might be """cinematic"""
kek
>Bethesda doesn't care about attention to detail
Well that's obvious. Why do you think everyone dunked on the guns in Fo4?
Why do redditors/trannies hate this design?
Because some epic e celeb told them it's bad
... but it is bad.
it's a 40 lbs. water cooled piece of shit that gets outperformed by rifles half its size and a fifth of its weight.
Because it unironically looks like shit, and that's coming from someone who enjoys both fallout 4 and even 76
Its a legitimately bad design
>.t gun autist
All the guns in 4 look like shit
Because it reeks of colonialism.
It's modelled after a Maxim gun.
Trannies hate the Maxim gun because it blew the legs off their BIPOC grandpappy when the white man came and took over.
I have not played a Bethesda developed game since Oblivion
what is up with the shitposters on this board still thinking pretending to be moronic is funny
Influx of /k/tards always happens when any new AAA shooter is on the horizon. It always dies down a week after release though when the games inevitably go on to sell millions because under a 35bmi nobody gives a shit.
I know, its hilarious. I cant wait for /k/ to revolt on Ganker because the game is successful.
when has that ever happened moron?
literally every AAA shooter in the last decade. the most notable was the whining over mw2019 and now that has become the dominant AAA fps and is uncontested in sales in that market
>literally every AAA shooter in the last decade

if you're too much of a new gay to know then I'm not going to bother explaining it to you.
ah, so you are lying. guess I shouldn't have expected anything different.
okay newbie. cope however you need to
nah, I'm happy enough with pointing out out to everyone that you are just a little liar.
It really wouldn't have been hard to find examples from the archive anon. Stop being salty he called you out
Been here for over a decade and people complaining about unrealistic guns is INCREDIBLY rare, you got called out because you wouldn't be able to find even one example of it and are mad that no one fell for your "I'm an oldgay" routine
Normalgays buy stuff on brand name alone and will shovel shitty entertainment down their gullets. Sales mean nothing to me. I enjoy when a developer pays attention to the gun detail in their games. Especially when a lot of the player's time is gonna be spent using said guns.
>successful things are successful because they were successful in the past
>i want details that amount to a good presentation with zero substance like most devs that tout detail such as horse balls in rdr2 and city scales in cyberpunk
okay
>i want details that amount to a good presentation with zero substance
You can have one and have the other, they are not mutually exclusive you sophistic wienersucker.
okay so what do you consider a recent(last 5 years) triple A game that had both immense details and substantive, in depth gameplay that is fun through to the end? and no, games that need to be modded into a playable state don't count
Ok you got me, I honestly don't know.
>the most notable was the whining over mw2019
Am I in the bizzaro thread? MW19 was praised by /k/gays BECAUSE of its realistic gun design and attention to detail. Hell, the later games that didn't focus on that (Cold War and Vanguard) sold vastly worse in comparison.
God no cursed gun preset was as cursed as the bullshit that was Vanguard.
The difference is that in MW19, every cursed gun is the same ass shit:
>no stock
>big-ass scope
>grenade launcher
>extended mag
>silencer
Whereas in Vanguard, putting even a SINGLE attachment on any weapon will immediately make it cursed, because most of them look like you need a handsaw and some duct tape just to craft it. And you can put TEN of them.
that doesnt change that mw19 is homosexual-tier fps and easily one of the worst cods in history
which wasn't the point
I'm curious as to why you think this.
I thought the campaign had some really good moments at least
Starfield isn't a gungay game, moron.
right now
Why can Sawyer do it but Todd can't? Legit question.
Todd has the mind of a bullied child that found success through nepotism.
Where is this schizo rambling coming from
The mind of a small, bullied child will carry over into adulthood in form of extreme insecurity.
It does get a bit annoying when the /k/ posters always shit up Ganker over silly stuff like this but not like it lasts long anyway. Hope they get the help they need someday. They're always so angry and easily upset by the smallest things
Someone is getting a bit passive aggressive in here. Mad because someone doesn't like dogshit gun design?
Oh look, exactly what anon said is happening. a k poster gets angry and defensive over something small
pottery
why are you so mad, anon? just because some people make fun of dogshit bethesda design? kinda sad
You're projecting pretty hard. The only one here cussing and getting flamed up is you. Re-evaluate who you are and how you react to things. You're likely too young to be this angry of a person.
Still mad because people make jokes about dogshit bethesda gun design? calm down, it's just a game.
I'm laughing at you. You are here wasting your life arguing about bullets. Sort your life out, you loser.
look, when you get mad because someone rips into a dogshit video game gun, you seriously need to take a day off this site. it's only gonna get worse for you if you keep getting triggered like this.
>no U
LMAO at your life
That they will frick it up. The promise of authenticity of gun mechanics in games is so far gone from my mind I don't care. I'm not invested into this website or video games in general to care THAT much. I dont care if Starfield succeeds or fails, I'm only interested in pissing off /k/ gays
>I'm not invested into this website or video games in general to care THAT much
but you explicitly seek out threads making fun of moronic gun design and jump to the rescue of poor todd. something smells fishy in here.
As I said:
>I'm only interested in pissing of /k/ gays
should have kept reading.
then why are you getting mad at jokes?
How do you know I'm mad? Can you see me? What if I'm naked, but smiling? You don't know, I could be a BOT. Crazy, huh?!

you are deliberately joining a thread making fun of moronic gun design and keep replying to everyone. you are triggered harder than todd having to stand next to someone taller than him.

>I'm not invested to this site, I just have reaction images ready for shitposting!
Lying and a mad little homosexual lmao
And you're here wasting your life arguing with someone on an anonymous image board. At least other anon is trying to make things a little less shit
Why anyone is against higher standards is beyond me. The more focus is shown to little details in a game, such as accurate gun tech, ect, the higher the odds are that polish and care has been applied across the board. Not a 100% true rule, but it's pretty common to see.
I don't understand why this is a complicated or controversial take
I don't understand what this means in relation to my post
I dont know, I ran out of things to stoke the fire with. I just posted qt necro.
>silly stuff
if guns are so silly and not worth researching or understanding even the basic mechanics of how they work why in the frick would they make a game thats combat revolves entirely around shooting them?
GILF wonder woman is widow now, i wish to have a chance to have sex with her everyday. Unnhhh
Ganker has an unhealthy obsession with Todd.
Seriously.
Because Sawyer's held a gun in his life
Sawyer didn't do it though some unnamed homosexual on the team did
Why does Ganker constantly flip flop on if realism is good or bad?
>Ganker is one person
Even still, the pro-Bethesda shills ITT are literally being paid, anon.

>complete fantasy setting with magic and elves
>nobody cares if wizards shoot bullets out of their asses
>pseudo-realistic sci-fi setting with low-tech powder guns
>gun ejecting entire round bullets out of square chamber sticks out like a sore thumb
I mean, it's really not that hard.
It only does that when it's a western game because of self hatred.
you are moronic
having some thought towards the technology in your game and not just slapping futuristic looking stuff on some vaguely looking gun is always better.
I'm looking forward to this game since I can find some enjoyment in Bethesda games still and watching Ganker lose their shit about Todd like they always do.
i have an announcement
I don't think i've ever seen a game get shotgun shells wrong.
I'll be honest and say that a very stupid idiot part of me hopes this game is good, just because I like space games, especially space RPGs.
honestly, I'm gonna pirate it regardless due to mods. I'm sure someone will fix it.
True, but pirating Bethesda games (especially on day one) is always shitty because they update their games abit now and therefore breaks mods instantly.

BethSoft are ten years behind the rest of the industry. Why do you think that's acceptable? Why are your standards so fricking low?
because if this thread is any indication, they don't want to be seen as those "other guys" or "/k/gays". Thats literally it, if they care then it affects their image of themselves so they excuse it.
>BethSoft are ten years behind the rest of the industry

Pretty sure it's because it looks kinda bad, anon. It doesn't look impactful, and the enemies AI isn't looking to be the best
Anon he was sneaking up on them, no shit they didn't react till it was too late.
Enemy doesn't react to 10 bullets entering his back and drops like he just got unplugged while in the Matrix. ZERO impact from those bullets, the other enemy sprints through bullets like they're not there. Zombies in Resident Evil 1 (1996) seem more alive.
Yep, it's a RPG alright.
>No stagger animation when getting rinsed
>literally runs into gunfire with no effort

>sneak up on looters looting

>futuristic game must be bound by current day rules
Why are gamers so fricking autistic?
its just a bunch of gun larps not knowing about centered bore axis and thick barrels being early experimental technology on revolvers decades ago. just ignore them
they're the same guys who make pol posts about cute brown girls being bad
>early experimental technology on revolvers decades ago
>futuristic sci-fi space game
anon...
experimental tech that didn't work because materials as we have them can't handle it. someone else in the thread said it already. no guarantees they're using the same metals
>experimental tech that didn't work because materials as we have them can't handle it
wait, so thin barrels work fine on revolvers, but thick barrels not, because the material was too weak?
can you explain why a thinner barrel is stronger than a thick one on a gun?
its not that the thick barrels don't work on revolvers with inline bores. that delves into the point the k side has made. it is too heavy. but that really wouldn't matter in space. its weightless. all you have to worry about in space is recoil and power
>but that really wouldn't matter in space. its weightless.
the footage from the video wasn't ground combat on a planet?
>In space, mass doesn't matter
Okay moron.
When did I say mass? I said weight. until you're in a gravitational field, mass doesn't translate to weight to the same degree that something that would be heavy on a terrestrial object
inertia would like to have a word with you
see
>but that really wouldn't matter in space. its weightless
mass and inertia still exists in space tho
yeah. inertia is addressed by when i said recoil. and mass of that gun only affects the inertia but not the weight. weight is a qualifier for how something feels in a field not is actual physical properties across all spave
inertia plays a big role when you move an object with you and do other actions like changing aim.
>weight is a qualifier for how something feels in a field not is actual physical properties across all spave
I seriously doubt you will have separate guns for space and ground combat. I also seriously doubt that you will have any form of combat while floating in space.
Well we'll find out when the game releases. I for one don't actually think the game will be that good given Bethesdas last 2 games.
Until then, I'm glad someone else in the thread is capable of a argument beyond screaming matches and can understand dynamics enough to at least bring inertia into the conversation even if the weight =|=mass thing was misunderstood at the beginning. so thanks for that
cheers anon for at least staying critical.
Not him but that doesn't mean someone couldn't have seen that and liked it to put it into the game
>centered bore axis

>could just have made laser guns with battery ammo packs and nobody would give a shit
>instead decide to showcase a gunpowder weapon that ejects whole bullets after a shot from square barrels
but why?
because ballistics are cool
>but why?
the same reason Fallout 4 featured a minigun and heckin doggerino in marketing material
People got pissed off at them for their energy weapon designs in Fallout 4 too. Particularly for the square laser guns.
i hated the laser guns too, because they felt weak as frick. the plasma guns with the goo effect was pretty kino though.
only laser design i found annoying in fallout 4 was the spinning barrels for automatic lasers. maintaining collimation must mean that those little boxes must be the greatest shock dampeners in the universe
I mostly hated the Institute weapons because they blocked a ton of your screen
Guns that use bullets would be far better in a place with next to no atmosphere, or in the vacuum of space. The absolute best weapons would be coil guns. Laser and plasma weaponry in space is not possible, or extremely hard.
>Laser ... in space is not possible
Why?
collimation
I dont get it, if anything wouldn't a vacuum be better for a laser because theres no atmosphere to scatter and refract the light?
He never replied so I will explain why
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________i dont know____________________________________________________________
to make it short: yes, a laser is more effective in a vacuum than in atmosphere
Can a chemical-propellant-based gun even fire in an environment with an atmosphere that doesn’t support combustion similar to earth’s? Too little oxygen or any chemical in the atmosphere that inhibited burning or other reactions could cause slow or improper burn (or failure on primer strike), and the opposite could cause too fast combustion which could lead to critical failure of the barrel.
Agreed that a coilgun/railgun would be the ideal.
You dumb frick, bullets don't need outside factors like an atmosphere to fire.
Say sike right now.
If you're in an environment where the atmospheric gas is getting through the seal made between the bullet and casing then you're in some real deep shit and probably have bigger things to worry about (AND probably have a gun with bullets designed for that environment).
If you’re in a high-oxygen environment (which seems likely in a space station) your muzzle flash will set fire to the air around you. That’s another point to consider. At 30% atmospheric oxygen, wet grass will catch fire. It doesn’t take a lot.
Firing a gun inside a space station in general sounds like a bad idea.
I think we're getting off track here from the original issue posted lol.
Well but that wouldn’t be true of a coilgun/railgun.
Finally, melee is optimal.
>a high-oxygen environment (which seems likely in a space station)
The worst part is you know about 20 people signed off on this and thought it looked cool
yeah and inertia is a mass based quotient, not weight.
>company makes a racing game
>but all the tires are square instead of round
>visually the cars drive as if their tires were still round
it would still be wrong, because cars don't use square tires
and you be a virgin that should go back to rddit for noticing, Why can you guys just buy the game, that's what important here

Why bethesda got the most moronic hater group in the entire industry ?
This game looks like boring shite but who the frick cares about nonsense like the shape of bullets or whatever
because it's a symptom. if you can go so wrong on such an obvious easy detail like that (and the obviousness is key), what promise is there that you know what you're doing when it comes to everything more important? it's like an admission of total incompetence. the cope is to say it's just a detail, it doesn't matter-- the reality is that it would have been trivial to get it right, so if you can't even do that, then what CAN you do?
True. The game looks shit in every regard though so why even care about the bullets
this board fumes over the word "clip" but is absolutely fine when a bullet doesn't leave the cartridge?
Those are gun-illiterate yuropoors

Oh man i bet they have interracial orgies every friday at bethesda....i want to work there.
I love when Todd releases a game. The games he makes aren't even particularly good or bad but Ganker always has a absolute fricking autistic meltdown over them that's fun to watch and shitpost in.
they are particularly bad tho, that's why it's so fun to joke about them
They really aren't. You haven't played many bad games if you think Bethesda's are bottom of the barrel.
I don't think bethesda games are bottom of the barrel. I just think they are pretty bad games in too many aspects to consider them "not bad".
How is something like this even possible? Doom 2 had a more realistic double barrel shotgun 30 fricking years ago.
Because Todd cares about aesthetic over muh realism
Square barrels simply look better, deal with it.
>Because Todd cares about aesthetic over muh realism
then why do his guns looks like shit?
They don't, they're aesthetic.
Real guns are aesthetic. Todd's guns are the laughing stock of the entire industry.
No anon, Todd makes good guns that look cool over lame real guns 🙂
I wish that was true, anon. Instead, we get pic related.
They look neat!
I guess there is a demographic for everything
Yeah, it's weird how someone can like something you don't!
I have seen videos of people eating literal shit, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Are you okay anon? You seem upset.
they're well designed and have a distinctive style. whether that style made it successfully into the actual game is another question. in my experience most concept art fails to reach its potential because the 3d artist intermediaries don't quite nail it, which is definitely the case with this art vs. the actual appearance of the weapons in fallout 3/nv
>they're well designed and have a distinctive style
they are literally barrels with a handle. a piece of scrap from a car crash is distinctive too, but that doesn't make it good design.
I'm good, thanks anon.
Glad to hear it anon. Just because we have different opinions doesn't mean I can't be concerned for you!
>they are literally barrels with guns
they are imaginary laser guns you absolute sperg. you can reduce any gun to "barrel with handle" if you want to boil it down into such an oversimplification as this. oversimplifying is the moron's way of inventing a fake criticism for his utter lack of any actual thought process
>you can reduce any gun to "barrel with handle" if you want to boil it down
no, the fallout laser guns are LITERALLY barrels/bricks with a handle. if you want to make it look silly, just go with early laser rifle concepts.
That's the same shit but with wood furnishing.
not really, but I guess I can't expect more from someone who thinks that fallout 4 weapons have good design.
those look cool imo, what didn't look cool was the plastic white toy weapons in fallout 4.
After fallout 4 I don't know what anyone expected. That giant white Xbox 360 gun that took up half the screen was especially egregious.
lol this thing is a reskinned institute rifle from fallout 4
>giant white xbox 360 gun
lol, exactly that shit, it was fricking enormous and it was just a giant white plastic brick
they look stupid.
It’s a video game anon, I intentionally done that as it’s not supposed to be realistic you dum dum
Who says that in the future shotgun shells and barrells can't be shaped differently?
Holy frick the damage control drones are out in force already.
Toddfield is going to frick this board up but good isn't it.
maybe future space guns work differently?????????
REMINDER
This isn't true no matter how much copium you take
Fricking kek, obsidisisters literally live off of copium.
pretty true
The Brotherhood of Steelgame is underrated.
I fricking love it in all its terrible glory.
good morning sir!
Starfield is shaping up to be the best game ever, Bethesisters.
Shitfield will be worse than Fallout 76 which was worse than Fallout 4 which was worse than Skyrim which was...
Seethe and cope
Talking to yourself is a sign of schizophrenia.
>no u
How many guns did they even show in that gameplay? There was no melee combat shown right? I know it's in because some of the backgrounds mention giving you extra melee damage.
>gameplay
Wat
brb
The one in the OP,
, one that looked like a POP and a pistol is all iirc.
There's a pirate with a knife shown charging but no actual melee combat shown.
Total guns shown, in order of appearance:
>Eon Pistol
Looks equivalent to FO4's 10mm, can be modded to hell
>Grendel submachine gun
a P90 clone using caseless ammunition, has a glitchy magwell and an ammo counter built into the mag
>Coachman shotgun
Blocky double barrel shotgun that ejects full rifle cartidges instead of shells (99% sure it's a placeholder asset)
>Equinox Laser gun
Semi-auto blocky laser gun with a fatass battery as a mag.
>Maelstrom sub(?)machine gun
normal magwell, kinda odd looking with a tube going over the gun connecting to an ammo counter
>AR-99 machine gun
A proper automatic rifle, shown both barebones and with heavy modifications (pic related).
Ah, missed one gun, it was used for a 1-second shot and was never shown firing.
I think it's called the PD-3A, and it has a very odd magazine that seems to either hold 25 rounds of caseless ammunition, or is a battery pack for an energy weapon either way, it also has an ammo counter on the side like other guns do.
Out of every gun shown so far, this is the only one that actually seems unique, not just a ported over gun from Fallout 4 with a new model slapped on.
Betting on caseless + electrically actuated. Looks like the MetalStorm concept.
Honestly only the laser rifle looks particularly bad to me. I do hope the rifle shells coming out of the gun is a placeholder but this is Bethesda.
I'm looking over each of the guns in 4k and I noticed the Maelstrom has interesting casings. Grey with markings on it and a brass primer.
Much better defined than the single color brass cartridge the shotgun spits out.
Beyond the cable going across the gun to the front for whatever reason that one looks fine.
>Where could my square space-pipe be?
>STARFIELD!
YOU'LL BUY MY GAME DREAMBOY
AND GUESS WHAT
IN FIVE YEARS I'LL RELEASE IT AGAIN
AND GUESS WHAT
YOU WILL FRICKING BUY IT AGAIN
I kneel, Todd sama
gun autists btfo
>invents circle in square technology
Bethseda are innovators
>bethesda makes a gun
the first thing I thought about when I saw that gun
But clearly is does just work.
/k/ autism is always the least interesting part of discussing bethesda games
How convenient for you Todd you lazy c**t.
>gun is made wrong!!!
>okay, its wrong. what else
>that means.... the guns are made wrong!!!
It means this game has no fricking passion or care, so why the frick should I care
>why should i care
>continues to enter the threads
?????????
do you just want someone to talk to?
I'm asking you a question Todd. If you don't give a frick about your game why should I?
Just buy it, ok? It's literally just 80 bucks.
And there we go. Frick off Todd, can't even shill your game properly LMAO
Why can't you just dish out the 90 bucks for a cool game? It will be GOTY you know. Don't miss out, anon. Just believe me.
have a nice day TODD
Don't tell you don't have 100 bucks for one of the best games of the decade? Just close your eyes anon, and imagine for a second. The adventure. The exploration. The space necromancers summoning space skeletons. It will all be there.
you dont have to care about it, just buy it
thank you for being a loyal customer
Thats not a square, its a rounded edge square.
>bethesda and completely baffling gun designs
whats the problem?
Go back to /k/
>it's another episode of "Ganker defends something objectively stupid because they have to be contrarian to whatever reddit is doing"
Yes. Normalgays keep saying it'll be bad, so it's good.
>who cares about ladders or logical guns or ants or anything?
>who cares about a AAA game having shit AA devs did ten years ago?
>who cares about the bar being so fricking low that Bethesda can release Morrowind VII and not only get away with it, but have people DEFEND THEM ON THE INTERNET?
>who fricking cares about this hobby?
>who cares about anything at all?
This homie big mad over people DEFENDING THINGS ON THE INTERNET as if its an arduous task that requires the utmost commitment
Yes.
Shits a video game, I'm not going to mald about pixels.
>mald
What's with this shitty archaic word suddenly back in use again?
>Malding about saying mald
LMAAAAAAAAAO
I saw it as a joke, just like the fricking game. It seems filled with nothing but bullshit to flesh the game out. I bet you if you do end up playing it, you won't "explore" most if not all of these extra planets outside of one or two. Then, the worst thing is, you don't get to fly to them, you just select them and I don't know why everyone was expecting something amazing.
>they kept the moron who made the fallout 4 guns
Frick me now im worried
>Y-YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN SPACESHIP
>Press A to fly to KYS-666(Ice Planet)
>Y-YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN SPACESHIP
Yup, and I'm going to enjoy every minute of space truckin'
Gonna make a big rig like top left and fill it with bros
It looks cool, but I bet you the actual way it ends up might be a let down.
What makes you think you can be a space trucker
>Build settlement focused around producing resources over time
>Load up resources onto my big rig
>Space truck over to another settlement
>Upgrade that settlement using the resources and collect what they produced while I'm there
>Space truck over to one of the cities
>Sell the remaining raw resources for cash to upgrade the ship
>Repeat
LET'S GO SPACE TRUCKIN' CMON!
So in other words, just selling items.
Wow, amazing Todd.
It works for Eurotruck Simulator, I'm not sure you even get to interact with the cargo in that game.
But can I make his ship?
I actually want to make it because I like his ship in the first two seasons.
>he watched The Redditlorean
Go back
There's frick all else to watch that isn't Reddit these days.
His ship is lame like his show but I imagine it would be a easy enough one to make.
>Todd make a thousand empty planets for modders to fill up
>They'll just put their mods in the actual games planets
Why do modders do this? We saw this shit with New Vegas, NCR had tons of content and the Legion frick all, yet the vast majority of mods focus on the NCR or have you work alongside them.
Legion just didn't have enough charm. Same thing happened with the Institute in Fallout 4, there's only two noteworthy mods that do stuff beyond changing gun and armor models.
Legion in game were a fricking dead faction with nobody interesting and no real chance to explore them
NCR got mod content because the NCR is more popular and doesn't look like a bunch of drugged up gangers
why do no gun devs keep trying to make their own firearms instead of using m real ones as base models? its like they want to fail
this thread is proof enough that bethesda has shills here
I do it for free
>Todd's big innovation is paying for mortgage
God, what a disaster.
Hello Rddit
There is no amount of shit that bethgays won't happily eat up and beg for more.
Honestly, I kind of love this incompetent shit Todd pulls in every game. It's part of the charm of their games. We all know they release full of bugs with horrible performance issues and hair-brained decisions like the OP's image but frick me if they aren't full of unrefined pure SOVL.
Frick off Todd
