XY has it but I don't think you can take pictures with pokemon. You can take pictures with a pokemon in SM and PLA. SwSh I think you'll just have to use the screenshot feature when you're walking with a pokemon.
Removing following pokemon was such a setback for the games. Really enjoyed walking with my favorite pokemon, but BW cut content and gave no substitute, and then the Gen 8 games made the feature a joke.
Yeah, I revisit HG/SS often for just this feature alone, despite its issues. Its truly a marvel of effort and love to have the following sprites, something lacking in other Pokemon games.
Gen 5 cut:

>Following Pokemon

>Secret Bases
>PokeBall Seals
>the ability to shiny hunt for every available Pokemon in-game
and more
I do enjoy Gen 5 for the novel (at the time) use of the 3D models for things like Castelia City, but otherwise yeah. HG/SS felt like the beginning of the end.

yeah I miss it. at least in legends arceus you can release your whole team from their balls and take a screenshot with them. there's also the photo studio but that's lacking
