It took me 20+ tries to beat Monsoon, during which I had to set the controller down multiple times before I threw it through the drywall. Should I just stop playing and save myself the aneurysm, or is it worth it?

I don't get people that do things they don't like.
Guess what if it makes you angry you are not having fun.
Grow up
I really need to revisit this game because I know I'll be alot better at it
do the tutorial/ vr missions and learn how to dodge and parry
afterwards the game is incredibly easy
>not learning how to parry
Just quit. Youre too moronic at video games
I think you suck at action videogames or should should have payed more attention to the tutorial where thy teach you how to block and parry.
What the frick, are you seriously getting filtered by directional parries? That's absolutely pathetic; you should seriously consider dropping video games as a whole.
I bet he didn't even know parrying was a thing
iirc dsp got pretty far without knowing parrying or dodging
DSP has the power to just brute force his way through a lot of games somehow, it's kind of impressive
yeah, just skipped a bit through https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMLdLnRNDT8 and he doesn't seem to parry at all against sundowner and seems to try dodging by jumping away lol
it says quite a lot about mgr that you can brute force your way that far without knowing the key mechanics and playing blind
Literally git gud
Use EMP grenades. Don't bother attacking him unless he's collapsed. Until then just parry, block, run.
How can you possibly be losing in Mgr
It's literally mash attack to parry how are you failing at this the big tanks even drop health packs you utter moron
>he doesn't enjoy a fight that absolutely whoops his ass
This isn't even about being good or bad, it's about having fun with a challenge.
he's one of the easiest bosses on revengeance, minstral and senator are wayyy harder
I beat Mistral on my first try. I can parry/block but the Monsoon fight lasts for ages during which my HP gets chipped down from missing the blocks every now and then. I don't know what that anon is talking about with the tanks dropping health, as far as I know they just drop BP.
>on revengeance
unless you know to parry the thrown attack she's basically impossible because she input reads your every parry and back steps the riposte which is the only way you damage her
You just need to learn to dodge and parry. It's weird to learn and the game only half ass explains it, but after you learn the game becomes a lot more fun
How are you fricking up so much? I assume you're playing on hard (since very hard shouldn't be unlocked for you yet). The fights isn't even difficult if you know how to parry properly and just wait for an opportunity to hit back during the stun phase.
You know how to parry, right Anon?
you gotta block his attacks bro when he comes at you, i didnt really know this i had to learn the hard way cause like dark souls i never did shit but oonga boonga the way through

>this is the average zoomer that picked up mgrr because of the memes
lol
>downloaded this game again after beating it on release, don't remember most of it
>I keep readind lots of people get filtered by the robot dog boss
>beat it after first try getting an S
How are people so bad at games?
Your meme's been cut off, Jack
Why do MGR's parries filter so many people?
Because you have to press a button + a direction on your joystick.
Movie games only require you to press a button so you add one directional element and people's brain melt.
>Metal Gear
>Not a movie
Half the game is watching cutscenes and tapping on computer screens to open doors
Yeah, I'm sure that's why lots of people have problems with the game mechanics in this one.
Stop spewing nonsense
>makes a generalization
>gets mad when someone makes a generalization
have a nice day, my man!
We live in a time where a walking simulator starring a cat is the second coming of jesus. I don't think guessing many players are not used to "complex" game mechanics is so far from reality.
I don't know why I bother replying to someone whose argument is kys tho.
because you can get pretty far without ever needing it, so you don't even know what you're missing
imagine playing something like ninja gaiden without knowing how to block, you would immediately be able to tell that you're missing something crucial
You have a tutorial mission teaching you how to parry, they even mention it is crucial to succeed in combat.
If players dont use it they are the only ones to blame.
do you mean the VR missions? you don't need to do those
the fact that this game can be almost completed without knowing any of the key mechanics is a fault of the devs. if you have key mechanics like that not knowing them should filter a blind player at mission 1
it should be as in MGS. you never need to touch the VR missions there but if you ignore all the key mechanics you won't get far
Beats me. Worst part is when morons complain it should be a single button press, as if that wouldn't completely trivialize the game, but I suppose that's what they want so they don't actually have to put any effort in.
>Why do MGR's parries filter so many people?
Could be the explanation with the "direction of enemy attack" not being intuitive to people.
If the enemy attacks from the front, then the 'direction' of the enemy attack goes through Raiden, so people could be pushing the opposite direction, like how blocking in fighting games works where attacks from the right are blocked by holding left.
The most foolproof way to word it would have been to tell people to tilt the stick 'at the attacking enemy' and press the attack button at the same time.
Also calling it parrying is misleading when parry implies 'deflect and counterattack' which only happens with good timing, otherwise it's just a guard.
it wasn't intuitive for me either but one quick google search to make sure i understand it correctly fixed that. still the player's fault for just dismissing the mechanic entirely
Good post.
MGR is also a game where you can ignore the mechanic until you reach Jetstream Sam or even Armstrong. The core combat fundamentals and the iframe slash are both strong enough for that.
Well, you can definitely ignore them, but that would lead to guys like OP taking 20 tries to beat Monsoon lol
This. The game simply doesn't explain it well enough.
>Why don't you memorize a boss's moveset on your first attempt?
>Why don't you correctly parry 100% of attacks?
Never have a conversation with sweats, I swear
Or you could just play the game on normal the first time and raise the difficulty level after you have some idea what you're doing
>>Why don't you correctly parry 100% of attacks?
Yes, why don't you? It's as simple as pushing your joystick toward the direction the enemy is coming from.
Keep playing, also learn to parry if you somehow haven't already.
Monsoon is so easy, do you just suck at blocking/parrying?
Monsoon is dirt easy, but how the frick do I "No Damage" it? The other boss fights are easy to no damage, but this one is a pain in the ass.
I almost got filtered by Sundowner. I couldn't figure out how to change the direction of the slashes vertically to cut the shield. I did it by just cutting the shield when it was horizontal and running while spamming fast attacks.
You are only casual if you give up.
Also, Monsoon is the best fight of the game.
parry
i played through this on Hard recently on my first playthrough and didn't have trouble with any bosses. guessing that's your issue
If you can’t handle Monsoon you are never going to make it to the end.
You sound like a whiny crybaby that screeches and screams whenever he sees something he doesn't like
it took my two tries to beat monsoon on my first playthrough on hard, how could one be so bad.
>didn't bother learning how to guard until Sam bossfight on the first playthrough
learn to parry
Lrn2Parry
I'm even surprised you weren't filtered by chainsaw scooby doo if you are this oblivious to parrying. Also, slash the incoming vehicle throws for EMP grenades which make Monsoon vulnerable
Monsoon and Armstrong are the filters. If you can beat them, you can beat anything.
>is the worst fight in the game in your path
Most people seem to think either Monsoon or Armstrong are the hardest, according to polls
Do people use the rations or whatever they are in this game? There's no penalty like DMC but I still feel the need to do everything on one bar
You're parrying wrong. Just spam flick the stick in his direction. You don't precise parry in this game. Monsoon is basically your wake up call that parrying is a spamfest in this game.
>fight like a man using well timed hard blows with scissors
>win, no damage
>get B because I'm not a prancing peasant cutter swinging homosexual
shit game
