The worst jarpig battle theme of all time
It was written to filter millions.
Gale is a masterpiece. The way the deliberately erratic rhythm conveys the unease of fighting is peerless.

ftfy
This but the opposite
this, great OST
But
is right ironically the basic battle theme is the worst song in the game by far and you hear it for like 50% of your playtime
It's perplexing that anybody ever let that become the norm. How hard is it to just write six basic battle themes for your 50-hour game instead of one, and then parcel them out to various locations, times of day, phases of world destruction, etc.? Or assign them to types of enemy group: a robot group gets the techy-sounding battle tune, a bunch of wild animals gets the primitive-sounding tune, human soldiers get the martial-sounding tune, etc. Or just rotate through them in order, or pick one per battle at random. It was fine in Dragon Quest 1 times but this game has more than 60 tunes I think - just replace a few of those, how hard is that?
I guess Japanese people just love a formula sometimes, and can't bear to deviate from it. I don't know.
Also, once the first JRPG was published that didn't restart out-of-battle music from its beginning every time a battle ended, ZERO other JRPGs should ever have existed that let battles restart the music like that. There is no excuse.
Also, OP has bad taste in music.
I hate the art. I hate the soundtrack. I hate the gameplay. Story is convoluted and stupid. It really has nothing going for it and I cannot fathom why anyone likes it. It's genuinely slow and boring.
this.
I just remember thinking i was bamboozled by thinking it might have anything at all to do with chrono trigger...
Terrible game.
>i cannot fathom why anyone likes it
It’s one of those games we troll newbies into playing by pretending it’s an underrated gem. Other examples include:
-Secret of Mana
-Xenogears
-Nights
>the Sega Saturn

2/10 bait, made me reply

Nah that was the best part of the game. That is one things JRPG do very right.
Is the best way to play this on an emulator or is the steam version a good upgrade?
The best way to play any game is to stop asking questions on /vr/ and get to it.
so..... yes? no?
my take is just fricking buy it and just do
Music and graphics carry this game, the plot is so fricking dumb it's unreal
>The music sucks though
The music is literally the best thing about that game, what the frick are you talking about.
she never got to the dragon god or FATE fights
All I can find in YouTube for the FATE music all has some homosexual rapsinging over it about his love for fries and tendies so I'll have to link from Zophar instead:
Dragon God

FATE

I've given this game multiple tries and I just cannot wrap my head around the combat system no matter how much i look into it.
The music is, next to the graphics, the only things that dont suck.
