>It's all a theme park lmao
Honestly, is Ron moronic? Him leaving LucasArts and Curse existing is the best possible thing that could have happened for the series.

Didn't Curse also reference the theme park?
Only to shit on 2's ending
Curse had to deal with what Ron gave them, which includes Big Whoop. But overall it's a conventional story that exists in the world of Monkey Island. In Ron's world, the whole series is in a theme park, nothing was a real, and was just Guybrush's imagination running wild.
how does that work? The people in the world were consistenly more clever than him. Did he imagine himself stupid?
Hence why it's not a particularly good idea.
>nothing was a real, and was just Guybrush's imagination running wild.
No you dumb frick, it's an actual theme park with its actors, sets and plots. Even the new MI's ending hammers this into your tiny brain.
Curse took a pisstake of an ending and crafted a kino out of it.
Absolutely, I played all three in my childhood but the ending of 2 was just so... shitty. Curse really cured that bad taste in my mouth and I felt like I was playing proper MI again. I feel like Escape, on the other hand, got a bit too meme-y but the change to 3d was interesting
I feel like everyone who defended MI3 for so many years has been completely vindicated by Gilbort's big heralded 'proper' sequel being a laughingstock that revealed him as an omega-level hack.
Still havent played it. Does it just double down on the "it was all in your imagination" meta stuff?
Yes. Even the ending goes for 2deep4u meta
Makes me wonder why even bother making a new entry in the series if you're just gonna say the same thing? But I guess the answer is obvious
Literally yes, AND it calls the fans idiots for getting invested. He doubled down on the same bullshit 30 YEARS later.
>pic related
This should be a meme.
that song was always my favorite part of any MI3 playthrough
I really disliked the final battle in MI2. Some bullshit puzzles and annoying stoppages with the teleports.
Gilbert has always wanted to do muh META commentary shit ever since MI2, even Thimbleweed went for it, and now after over 20 something years he finally got to do it again for MI
>thimbleweed
good game but had to roll my eyes at yet another "its just a dream" trope ending
come on, man
Bro that final act of Thimbleweed made me seethe. I only played it last year and I'm amazed how it was so bad that I never saw spoilers.
I don't even know how you could actually intentionally spoil the twist to someone.
>It was all a video game!
>Yeah, I know that, moron
Is the telltale series any good?
It's alright, the puzzles are barely present but the writing is still funny
Its okay, best thing I can say about is that it doesn't shit the bed and I got a chuckle, its still got that "Telltale" aspect to it though mainly in that its more like cinematic experience than a proper adventure game
At least it was from before they decided to ditch the traditional style altogether.
I want to get into Monkey Island. What should I do for beginner's shit? What games to avoid because they're pisstakes at the end?
Well gee, I don't known, perhaps start with the last game and play it reverse order?
secret, revenge, curse. move on
thats it
You start with the first and go in release order. I would say that 1,2, and 3 are mandatory. Escape (MI4) is fricking stupid. It has the worst control scheme imaginable, ditching pointing and clicking for tank controls, for some reason. It's also hideous and has the worst puzzle in adventure game history (Monkey Kombat). I'd say it's optional. Tales (MI5) is alright. It's optional too, but definitely play it if you want more. Return (MI6) is the latest one, and kind of redoes MI2's ending but it's predictably disappointing... ON PURPOSE! The rest of the game is okay, but it's also hideous.
Can you count to 3 by any chance?
You're only like 30 years late to the party OP. The world being a theme park is a good twist, frick off
Ron detected
t. Ron
Haven't you seethe enough.
It was cringe, Ron.
>What if the fictional story you're reading/watching/playing was in fact... a fictional story!
Only time I've seen it done well is Last Action Hero.
>every game post 3 has to bring back based Murray
>even the Sea Of Thieves collab has him
Murraybros we always win.
Murray's so good that Ron wanted to bring him back even when the plan for Return was to ignore every game after 2.
