Is the pvp more functional again with the increased multiplayer ranges or is it dead as frick? HopingCoping the DLC will revive the pvp a bit now that we've gotten a few balance patches, but 90% of areas in the game will still be very rare to actually invade people in cus nobody goes there to begin with
Granted GS poking and dual curved sword L1 spam still exists as well as cross naginata and kyke's warqueer but we're starting to approach the point where the pvp starts being enjoyable a majority of the time
Most axes are like that, the scaling looks terrible on them which filters smallbrains and metahomosexuals but in reality they one-tap quite easily because the damage values on the attacks themselves are massive and the scaling is different depending on your effective Strength value
i.e. if you have ~60 Str you get more value per point in that range while 2handing the Duelist Greataxe than if you had bare minimum Str and more Dex
That combined with the fact that the 2h movesets have ridiculous raw damage values and are usually relatively fast, armored, and/or large makes 2handing large weapons quite attractive in the right circumstances
They effectively added that wex dust mod, pretty much. You will absolutely find more invasions now and you don't have to travel everywhere and turn it into a loading screen simulator. But yeah you still get some of the same meta shit. Bleed is still the best thing to use, ever, in general. It melts pve and pvp still, nothing changed with it. You'll see more people using moonveil now since you can more or less survive Rivers of Meme slightly better now, but it still does proc bleed which means it went from SUPERIOR ELDER GOD TIER weapon to just GOD TIER which is enough for people to stop using it. Baby steps. Though if they keep taking this long for such simple fixes, I fear the DLC and possible coliseum are the only things that will really "save" the multiplayer.
At least if they add the coliseum maybe we'll be able to do 2v2 team fights which were fun in ds3. I recommend using a level 60-90 character for dedicated invasions because at higher levels you will invade duel homosexuals over and over. I play on PC and the connection stability still seems terrible, random disconnects and LAGGY AS FRICK people even for fromsoft game standards so there's still that little bit of shit to deal with.
I'd say the multiplayer is good now to just frick around in once or twice a week.

I was having a surprising amount of success even in higher level brackets (like 120ish) with invading random people in Farum and Haligtree, I eventually came to the conclusion that people overlevel like fricking crazy
but generally I agree, 60-90 is definitely the most fun level bracket, the cringe begins when you get to Leyndell and if you can't find the right gear/level bracket you get locked into a hellish prison with twinks and metaspammers
Maybe someday from will fix the moronic implementation of status buildup/proc, then we'll only have GS poking to worry about as far as inbred-tier battle tactics goes

Its weapon art is a series of rapid slashes that do a bunch of damage and cause a bunch of bleed buildup, and the hitbox extends well beyond the blade itself. Causes blood loss almost instantly and shreds through everything. The damage and bleed have been nerfed.

Judging by that npc who used it it had that nasty double projectile that deals a lot of damage and inflicts bleed.

Be honest with me, how many players in pvp use it? I only tried invading a couple of times (Vaare quest) and half of the players were using it.
I duel wielded Rivers of Blood and Moonveil and summoned Black Knife Tiche to kill Melenia and the rest of the last bosses. PVP is shit, laggy and boring so I don't care to do that.
If you invade then assume by default one or both the players have Rivers. If you see them and they're not holding it yet, assume they will switch to it for their "easy one button invader deleter" when they're at the slightest disadvantage.
This must only work 10% of the time. No chance they just continue running at you mid firing animation. All they need to do is bait it and wait for you to start firing. Still funny though

I would just make things completely unfair with that spell. Hang out above then wheel elevator in lucaria and toss fireballs onto the platform. The counter was simply to block with a shield as that would stop the knock back. Nobody blocked with a shield. Will always be my favorite incant, the Kobe Bryant special.

Oh it absolutely was a broken weapon, but Glintstone Pebble + 61 poise was a hard counter. You eat the first hit, stun them and then stab them. You can see it better in this one.
Yeah it was one of my favourite things to do when I played. Makes you feel like you've got an expanded moveset. I eventually rejigged the talismans and stuff so I could equip both swords at the same time and just switching between them in the right hand instead of needing to hard swap.
Stormhawk Axe was more broken than RoB sometimes too.
There are several ways to get around RoB, the nerf is only going to get pussies angry about other things now until ER becomes pure "no fun allowed" nonsense like DS3
in my opinion, it is precisely the existence of weapons that are overwhelmingly superior to others in most cases that turns it into a "no fun allowed" balance fiesta, as then the only options become to either 1) metaslave or 2) lose, at least whenever you're facing an equally skilled opponent. obviously RoB wasn't that level of extreme but such tendencies should be pruned either by balancing it to be more comparable to other weapons or via a (much more fun imo) balance by "everything is OP" method or a sort of "rock paper scissors" method. if all builds have equal chances to win then you do not get punished for trying something new or different, whereas if there is an optimal way to play then once it gets calculated and figured out you kind of have to play that way to not be handicapped compared to your peers

Nothing that gets fricked up by basic ashes of war is overwhelmingly superior to anything, 99% of people are just bad at the game and want to win easily so they don't have to deal with the fact that they're bad, that's the bitter truth.
Thing is PvP is a mistake in the first place when it comes to games like these, and people who take it seriously are even bigger mistakes, it made sense in Armored Core where you have no stat variables, it's a mistake in Souls and ER unless you take it very casually and enjoy it for what it is, a funny side activity.

I played this game for one month and then dropped it, so the nerf won't affect me. Elden Ring is one of those games that make you think you'll be playing for a long time until you beat it a couple of times, realize there's not all that much to it and never touch it again.
This was a fun weapon. They didn't need to make it completely worhtless. The moronic thing about was the chest ubication.(15 minutes away from where you start the game, you don't even need to fight anything.
So how does coop work? If I'm playing on NG+2 can I be summoned into worlds on different NG+#s? I enjoyed some of the boss fights, particularly in raya lucaria but I don't feel like beating the game everytime to refight the bosses.
You can be summoned by people that are +/-10 plus 10% from you level as well as within +/-3 weapon upgrades.
NG+ is irrelevant.
If you are level 80 with a +15 weapon, you can get summoned by level 62 to level 98 players that have at least a +12 weapon but not over +18.
Somber stone weapons that are maxed out at +10 count for 2.5 weapon levels (rounded up) for each upgrade, so +5 somber is a +13.
Its funny since RoB is only really good for clearing trash mob quickly and without effort. I'm going to miss farming for shit without it. If you ever used it against bosses you'd know it does no poise damage, and you'll never be able to get the full WA off without getting smacked to the ground. The full corpse piler takes like 5 secs to finish, you never have 5 seconds against late game bosses.
And the bleed is way worse than dual curved swords or twin blades.
At least I can finally use the Double Slash ash of war with the Bloodflame Blade buff without feeling like I'm just absolutely cucking myself so badly it makes me want to just stop playing. Really frustrating how that was my shit up until I found out Rivers of Blood had it without having to cast a buff and also with way more range and damage.
dunno how big the damage is now but its WA is definetely faster now, its tracking is still kinda shitty but it hits like a fricking truck now, doing close to 1k with just the flask buffs and +7

DaS3 made Ultra-class weapons so slow that they've done nothing but buff their speed ever since. ER Colossals are about as DaS2's Great/Ultra weapons now.

It's just the inferior in damage for its weapon type. you can get it super early, use it super early, but by mid game should or should have found a replacement.
The main reason to use it is for PvP because it's a colossal weapon that doesn't weight as much and has good long poke strong attacks. For PvE it's still better to use cheese or just a more damaging colossal sword. Alternatively, I think the poke talisman works for the zwei poke attacks so you can try that and chunk some health with it using the r2 poke and roll attack.

If this isn't working go explore more of limgrave (if you're only 21 then you've barely seen any of it) and come back at level 31 instead.

Also level your vigor along the way. If you're maining one stat for damage like STR then your second highest should be VIG.

yes, if you're very careful, don't get hit at all, and spend a lot of time trying then you can beat him that early. Same even before the horse. But the horse is an upgrade that makes it easier. Weapons doing more damage is also an upgrade. Leveling is also an upgrade.
It's about not doing things immediately but realizing where you stand and then coming back when you're better balanced to fight them.

I never explored the rest of the map until MUCH later, which is when I realized that Im a dumbass.
Don't just use R1. Staggers are strong and R1 does piss poor stagger damage. Try to mix in Jump Attacks, R2s and/or Guard Counters. Learn the direction to dodge and not just the timing. Often dodging FORWARD through an attack puts you in the best position to deal damage and avoid follow up attacks. Keep in mind that jumping is sometimes that best way to avoid an attack. It alters your hitbox quite a bit. Learn how to use your other tools. Throwing daggers to maintain stagger, bombs, grease, etc. Ash Summons if you need to. The game is not designed to be played like an old souls game with nothing but R1 and dodging and if you try to force things that way it's only going to get more frustrating from here.

If you're pure INT you'll want to switch to Carian Regal Scepter. Just swap over when your Int and upgrades on the scepter show you with higher spell scaling on your stat sheet.
What a short ass balance patch, is online on PC still completely fricked? I remember barely even seeing summon signs in the game despite doing everything i could in order to do so, it still never happened despite the gigantic fricking player count.

No. I mean they're easier to use since they got sped up a bit a few patches ago and again this patch. But nothing beats just putting on your heaviest armor, dual wielding colossal weapons, and jump attacking everything to death.
Is new game + worth it? I tried but I fail to see the appeal of exploring the world if you already took all the loot in dungeons. Also I'm overpowered. So I started a new save instead, it feels more rewarding to play the game with the items you slowly collect around.
Am I wrong? Is there a reason to play on new game +, for example new mobs location like in DS2 or new patterns for bosses? Or is it just shit and half assed?

HopingCoping the DLC will revive the pvp a bit now that we've gotten a few balance patches, but 90% of areas in the game will still be very rare to actually invade people in cus nobody goes there to begin with
Granted GS poking and dual curved sword L1 spam still exists as well as cross naginata and kyke's warqueer but we're starting to approach the point where the pvp starts being enjoyable a majority of the time
Most axes are like that, the scaling looks terrible on them which filters smallbrains and metahomosexuals but in reality they one-tap quite easily because the damage values on the attacks themselves are massive and the scaling is different depending on your effective Strength value
i.e. if you have ~60 Str you get more value per point in that range while 2handing the Duelist Greataxe than if you had bare minimum Str and more Dex
That combined with the fact that the 2h movesets have ridiculous raw damage values and are usually relatively fast, armored, and/or large makes 2handing large weapons quite attractive in the right circumstances
They effectively added that wex dust mod, pretty much. You will absolutely find more invasions now and you don't have to travel everywhere and turn it into a loading screen simulator. But yeah you still get some of the same meta shit. Bleed is still the best thing to use, ever, in general. It melts pve and pvp still, nothing changed with it. You'll see more people using moonveil now since you can more or less survive Rivers of Meme slightly better now, but it still does proc bleed which means it went from SUPERIOR ELDER GOD TIER weapon to just GOD TIER which is enough for people to stop using it. Baby steps. Though if they keep taking this long for such simple fixes, I fear the DLC and possible coliseum are the only things that will really "save" the multiplayer.
At least if they add the coliseum maybe we'll be able to do 2v2 team fights which were fun in ds3. I recommend using a level 60-90 character for dedicated invasions because at higher levels you will invade duel homosexuals over and over. I play on PC and the connection stability still seems terrible, random disconnects and LAGGY AS FRICK people even for fromsoft game standards so there's still that little bit of shit to deal with.
I'd say the multiplayer is good now to just frick around in once or twice a week.

I was having a surprising amount of success even in higher level brackets (like 120ish) with invading random people in Farum and Haligtree, I eventually came to the conclusion that people overlevel like fricking crazy
but generally I agree, 60-90 is definitely the most fun level bracket, the cringe begins when you get to Leyndell and if you can't find the right gear/level bracket you get locked into a hellish prison with twinks and metaspammers
Maybe someday from will fix the moronic implementation of status buildup/proc, then we'll only have GS poking to worry about as far as inbred-tier battle tactics goes
Now if only we could get a way to manually adjust which summoning pools we want to use for effigy, we'd be in a pretty good spot as far as multiplayer options go. Seamless notwithstanding.

Its weapon art is a series of rapid slashes that do a bunch of damage and cause a bunch of bleed buildup, and the hitbox extends well beyond the blade itself. Causes blood loss almost instantly and shreds through everything. The damage and bleed have been nerfed.

Not that often if you are playing dedicated pvpers (i.e. dueling). Most people there knows how to destroy RoB pretty well now.
I duel wielded Rivers of Blood and Moonveil and summoned Black Knife Tiche to kill Melenia and the rest of the last bosses. PVP is shit, laggy and boring so I don't care to do that.
If you invade then assume by default one or both the players have Rivers. If you see them and they're not holding it yet, assume they will switch to it for their "easy one button invader deleter" when they're at the slightest disadvantage.

I would just make things completely unfair with that spell. Hang out above then wheel elevator in lucaria and toss fireballs onto the platform. The counter was simply to block with a shield as that would stop the knock back. Nobody blocked with a shield. Will always be my favorite incant, the Kobe Bryant special.

I peaked just over 2k damage against a player on my RL120 Giantsflame build. Free aiming those babies is a lot of fun.

Oh it absolutely was a broken weapon, but Glintstone Pebble + 61 poise was a hard counter. You eat the first hit, stun them and then stab them. You can see it better in this one.

Yeah it was one of my favourite things to do when I played. Makes you feel like you've got an expanded moveset. I eventually rejigged the talismans and stuff so I could equip both swords at the same time and just switching between them in the right hand instead of needing to hard swap.

There are several ways to get around RoB, the nerf is only going to get pussies angry about other things now until ER becomes pure "no fun allowed" nonsense like DS3
in my opinion, it is precisely the existence of weapons that are overwhelmingly superior to others in most cases that turns it into a "no fun allowed" balance fiesta, as then the only options become to either 1) metaslave or 2) lose, at least whenever you're facing an equally skilled opponent. obviously RoB wasn't that level of extreme but such tendencies should be pruned either by balancing it to be more comparable to other weapons or via a (much more fun imo) balance by "everything is OP" method or a sort of "rock paper scissors" method. if all builds have equal chances to win then you do not get punished for trying something new or different, whereas if there is an optimal way to play then once it gets calculated and figured out you kind of have to play that way to not be handicapped compared to your peers

it was never fixed. DX12 requires you to compile shaders, and non-moron coded games make you compile these the first time you launch them so you don't get microstutters when they load while playing. They never fixed it, but most people don't notice them, digital foundry did a video on the issue.

This was a fun weapon. They didn't need to make it completely worhtless. The moronic thing about was the chest ubication.(15 minutes away from where you start the game, you don't even need to fight anything.
Froststomp ash is still solid with a good magic infused weapon and high int.
So how does coop work? If I'm playing on NG+2 can I be summoned into worlds on different NG+#s? I enjoyed some of the boss fights, particularly in raya lucaria but I don't feel like beating the game everytime to refight the bosses.
You can be summoned by people that are +/-10 plus 10% from you level as well as within +/-3 weapon upgrades.
NG+ is irrelevant.
If you are level 80 with a +15 weapon, you can get summoned by level 62 to level 98 players that have at least a +12 weapon but not over +18.
Somber stone weapons that are maxed out at +10 count for 2.5 weapon levels (rounded up) for each upgrade, so +5 somber is a +13.
Maybe use a real bleed weapon next time

Its funny since RoB is only really good for clearing trash mob quickly and without effort. I'm going to miss farming for shit without it. If you ever used it against bosses you'd know it does no poise damage, and you'll never be able to get the full WA off without getting smacked to the ground. The full corpse piler takes like 5 secs to finish, you never have 5 seconds against late game bosses.
And the bleed is way worse than dual curved swords or twin blades.

It's become obvious at this point the player character is way more sluggish in ER relative to previous games. FromSoft went crazy with the enemies but forgot about the player.

DaS3 made Ultra-class weapons so slow that they've done nothing but buff their speed ever since. ER Colossals are about as DaS2's Great/Ultra weapons now.
To be fair big weapons have been shit for the entirety of the series. They needed to speed them up several games ago.

the distance you roll is increased. Rolling in general can be done sooner after an attack too.
Light roll has more much distance. Previously there was no distance between a light and medium roll. I think it's about the same as in DS3.
Been doing a run with this one. It's fun. Though the options for builds is limited. The best one though seems to be relying on the lower level dragon spells for your utility.

This thread was made because in a big update this one particular broken sword was nerfed. That's it. The PvP was annoying because 80% of anyone you fought would be using this sword just to instantly beat anything else without effort. are you supposed to be able to be summoned as a hunter even when you're over leveled? I have a multiplayer pass on, but i'm literally max level and getting summoned to one-shot poor reds that have no idea what they're doing. That's been my pvp experience, helping gank spanks murder people even better.

Cold is mostly physical.
It doesn't matter though, you use cold for the proc and debuff.
The main reason to use it is for PvP because it's a colossal weapon that doesn't weight as much and has good long poke strong attacks. For PvE it's still better to use cheese or just a more damaging colossal sword. Alternatively, I think the poke talisman works for the zwei poke attacks so you can try that and chunk some health with it using the r2 poke and roll attack.

Level your fricking vigor
Use jump attacks to break his stance and simply get used to his delayed swings by counting in your head.
If this isn't working go explore more of limgrave (if you're only 21 then you've barely seen any of it) and come back at level 31 instead.
Hell, he's practically designed to be beaten between levels 30 and 40.
Also level your vigor along the way. If you're maining one stat for damage like STR then your second highest should be VIG.
He's just like the tree sentinel. He's not what you should do right away, he's there to beat you up so you'll leave and come back after exploring more.

yes, if you're very careful, don't get hit at all, and spend a lot of time trying then you can beat him that early. Same even before the horse. But the horse is an upgrade that makes it easier. Weapons doing more damage is also an upgrade. Leveling is also an upgrade.
It's about not doing things immediately but realizing where you stand and then coming back when you're better balanced to fight them.

Don't just use R1. Staggers are strong and R1 does piss poor stagger damage. Try to mix in Jump Attacks, R2s and/or Guard Counters. Learn the direction to dodge and not just the timing. Often dodging FORWARD through an attack puts you in the best position to deal damage and avoid follow up attacks. Keep in mind that jumping is sometimes that best way to avoid an attack. It alters your hitbox quite a bit. Learn how to use your other tools. Throwing daggers to maintain stagger, bombs, grease, etc. Ash Summons if you need to. The game is not designed to be played like an old souls game with nothing but R1 and dodging and if you try to force things that way it's only going to get more frustrating from here.
All the shitters and journos beat the game already. Now this crutch is balanced for normal players.

If you're pure INT you'll want to switch to Carian Regal Scepter. Just swap over when your Int and upgrades on the scepter show you with higher spell scaling on your stat sheet.

No. I mean they're easier to use since they got sped up a bit a few patches ago and again this patch. But nothing beats just putting on your heaviest armor, dual wielding colossal weapons, and jump attacking everything to death.

Is new game + worth it? I tried but I fail to see the appeal of exploring the world if you already took all the loot in dungeons. Also I'm overpowered. So I started a new save instead, it feels more rewarding to play the game with the items you slowly collect around.
Am I wrong? Is there a reason to play on new game +, for example new mobs location like in DS2 or new patterns for bosses? Or is it just shit and half assed?
