What's a good weapon to go with my "Frienzied Knight" character? Probably has to be some FTH shit since all the frenzy incantations require a fair bit of FTH. I was using the Eleonora Twinblade but it feels a bit too blood themed and you also need to invest a bunch of ARC for it to be good.
I thought about the frenzy spear but there's really no reason to use it instead of another spear since practically all bosses are immune to frenzy (if not all). I don't really PvP, I only put my sign down and help homies out.

Did think about the Golden Order Greatsword since the colour is sorta frenzy-ish. Not a fan of 1H straight swords.
Frenzy spear is still good even though the status doesn't do anything 99% of the time because it's still a great spear which is arguably the best weapon type in the game. It has high damage, long reach, fire damage which is a really good damage type in this game, high stance damage with its attacks, and you can dual wield it with other extremely powerful great spears such as the mohg spear. The weapon art also is good for taking care of groups.
People get too distracted by madness spells and the spear having a useless status effect, but if it literally didn't have any status effect on it at all, it would still be one of the beast weapons in the game, and the madness spells are all very useful and strong without the status.

I'm pretty sure this is the exact fit (but the caped alt version) I was using way back in the day when I was hunting noobs being carried by level 100+s. I went with just a greatsword and THE CLAW.
It is the caped version. Chest and head are part of the same chest, yeah. It's Ganker as frick and pretty rare too since the chest piece is such a rare drop (and only drops from two enemies in the entire game)

You vaguely know what you must do, but ultimately your journey is more like an expedition/adventure than it is a quest.
Therefore, it makes sense that you don't know anyone, you don't know anything - everything you learn is what you piece together, and you are not particularly punished / rewarded for knowing or not knowing something, even though sometimes you are.
That is the beauty of the game's design, it adds replayability as successive playthroughs will encourage you to try new approaches, learn new connections and more.
I don't like Souls games much anymore, but I can see the art in their storytelling, and I would take it over some shitty over expositioned / talk & walk moviegame trash any day.

What does this even mean? I'm playing a game, not reading a book. Story has no place in most games, especially games that attempt to have multiple story paths. They always end up shit in the end because it's impossible to have enough good conclusions. Zero Escape gets around that by having one true ending despite having multiple paths.

Lara Croft was an icon back in the 90s, she was a badass archeologist woman who plundered tombs for loot and was basically girl Indiana Jones (they even made a movie. Yeah it sucked)... meanwhile, Nu-Lara, whose games have MUCH more plot, is only known for fricking horses and dogs because she's a pathetic whiny millennial piece of frickmeat. Nulara had zero cultural impact.

Frenzy spear is still good even though the status doesn't do anything 99% of the time because it's still a great spear which is arguably the best weapon type in the game. It has high damage, long reach, fire damage which is a really good damage type in this game, high stance damage with its attacks, and you can dual wield it with other extremely powerful great spears such as the mohg spear. The weapon art also is good for taking care of groups.
People get too distracted by madness spells and the spear having a useless status effect, but if it literally didn't have any status effect on it at all, it would still be one of the beast weapons in the game, and the madness spells are all very useful and strong without the status.
Vyke's is the obvious choice. The golden order greatsword, miquellan knight sword, and coded sword are also options. You can also just fire infuse a regular weapon for holy-resistant enemies.
I'm pretty sure this is the exact fit (but the caped alt version) I was using way back in the day when I was hunting noobs being carried by level 100+s. I went with just a greatsword and THE CLAW.
It is the caped version. Chest and head are part of the same chest, yeah. It's Ganker as frick and pretty rare too since the chest piece is such a rare drop (and only drops from two enemies in the entire game)

Therefore, it makes sense that you don't know anyone, you don't know anything - everything you learn is what you piece together, and you are not particularly punished / rewarded for knowing or not knowing something, even though sometimes you are.
That is the beauty of the game's design, it adds replayability as successive playthroughs will encourage you to try new approaches, learn new connections and more.
I don't like Souls games much anymore, but I can see the art in their storytelling, and I would take it over some shitty over expositioned / talk & walk moviegame trash any day.

I would estimate that like maybe 1% of people who played Dark Souls gave two shits about any of the lore. The less story a game has, the better. The only games I've played where the story was half decent were the first 2 Zero Escape games.

What does this even mean? I'm playing a game, not reading a book. Story has no place in most games, especially games that attempt to have multiple story paths. They always end up shit in the end because it's impossible to have enough good conclusions. Zero Escape gets around that by having one true ending despite having multiple paths.
Old video games had more cultural relevance with less story. Lara Croft was an icon back in the 90s, she was a badass archeologist woman who plundered tombs for loot and was basically girl Indiana Jones (they even made a movie. Yeah it sucked)... meanwhile, Nu-Lara, whose games have MUCH more plot, is only known for fricking horses and dogs because she's a pathetic whiny millennial piece of frickmeat. They even took away her signature dual pistols since Hunger Games was very popular at the time so they made Lara use a bow like whatever the name of the Hungers Game girl was. Nulara had zero cultural impact.

From games have always had dogshit, contrived, boring stories masked behind a facade of mysteriousness and ambiguity - the fact is 90% of the people who've finished elden ring don't fully understand why they just did what they did beyond the gameplay itself - which to be honest is why people like fromgames to begin with, you have hard enemies, big worlds and hundreds of ways to approach those enemies, the variety of gear, builds etc is the appeal
