I bought 7 when it came out and really regretted it due to price and non-stop DLC just for features, Characters & costumes the older games came with. At this point IDK why anyone would buy the "new" version if there's no noticeable improvements in any area of the game. The extremely short pick window and aggressive DLC roster coupled with one-button special attacks sort of just cemented this game as a huge skip for all my friends too, effectively killing the game for me. How can I justify Tekken 8 at this point as a viable game.
The DLC releases kept killing my interest with T7. I actually thought T8 was another dlc until they really started pushing the marketing. Now this board is filled with nothing but shills who pretend this is a "new game."

Tekken's consistency is the reason why its so popular and long lasting. Other fighting games try and fail to shake up the formula and end up alienating their fans.
Tekken games have changed plenty. New mechanics like heat and even some cross-overs. The best features usually make a comeback. Tekken Force was so good in Tekken 3, I'm glad they kept it around.
