TOTK has dethroned it
Totk didn't even dethrone botw. It did dethrone wind waker as the worst 3d zelda though

No cap, it ain’t bussin fr
Its mid and thats why it is the best game ever made.
Use real words.
Hey but you know sometimes what you want is mid stuff.
The entire N64 lineup was mid af fr fr. Boomer manchildren cap it was great because they grew up with it.
PS1 tho
Kino Station
Yeah, it's deadass bussin.
OP kinda bussin
It's good. Just not "10/10 Masterpiece Best Game Evar Made"
It's a solid game and significant for its time.
Sekiro is better.
For some reason this made me chuckle
Funny because it's true!
Ocarina has the better art direction, but Sekiro outclasses it in every way as a gaem.
>It's mid
You mean "It's average."
For fricks sake... i just can't stop posting the wrong pic, this time i'm sure i got the correct one
Threadly reminder that everything that OOT did right was adopted as industry standard and has been repeated and (For a while before the vidya industry became hollow and soulless) built upon by all remotely similar games that came after it.
This is why people perceive it as overhyped, because what was innovative and new for it became an outright expectation of every game made in the last two decades, to the point they are now taken for granted.
This game came out in an era where the 'right stick aims, left stick moves the character' control scheme that is ubiquitous to all modern FPS games was newly introduced and a review described it as a confusing layout that was difficult to get used to. Think about that. Now apply the same principles to OOT.
Anyone who didn't play it within several years of release is genuinely incapable of appreciating how innovative it was at the time, even those who played vidya back then but never played it.
There was a reason this game was so highly praised when it launched. And there is just as good a reason it is seen so critically and perceived as overhyped nowadays. By modern standards it is absolutely a mid game, because it set what became the standard for everything we have played ever since.
t. Millenial who played it on project 64
No. I got it when it came out as a kid.
Although come to think of it.
>Anyone who didn't play it within several years of release is genuinely incapable of appreciating how innovative it was at the time
I was wrong to say this. Nobody nowadays can appreciate it, not even people like me. Not even boomers with ten years on me who had a far better grasp on the vidya landscape of the time. Even though I played it on release and loved it, if I went back and tried to replay it now, I would struggle to understand what the appeal was back then. Because for years I've been playing games that replicated its best points with far more refinement and the advantages of rapidly advancing technology (And that shit moved a lot faster back then.)
The only way I'd come close is to go replay a ton of the games released in the years leading up to it to try and give myself a better frame of reference for where the industry was at back then. And even then I'd still be tainted by the far more advanced iterations I've already experienced countless times.
Point is, just as it's hard to even fathom the idea of THE FPS control scheme, a control scheme that has been used by literally every single shooter some anons on this board have played in their lives, being something new and feeling strange and awkward to players, it's hard to fathom the idea of any of OOT's greatest points ever not having been the bare minimum.
>because what was innovative and new for it became an outright expectation of every game made in the last two decades, to the point they are now taken for granted.
Tired of this dogshit opinion. Played this game for the first time in 20 years and it not only holds up but is better than your average 3D action/adventure game made today. NES Zelda and N64 Zelda are the peak of the franchise, they got it right the first fricking time twice. Aside from Z-targeting, games today still aren't implementing what N64 got right 25 years ago.
The design is definitely more concise, but I wouldn't necessarily call it "better" than the average 3D action/adventure game. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great game, but I have an issue with most important discoveries being gated behind some kind of cutscene.
Calling millennial's precious game bad using THE zoomer word is good bait.
If you think about it, OOT is the ultimate Ganker game. No other game symbolizes a bunch of millennial whiny man children unwilling to like anything new and who haven’t been happy since they were 13 as well as OOT.
Maybe you dont think new games are awful because those are the games you grew up with.
OCARINA OF TIME
Nah it's infinitely more likely you're just an edgelord. We get it popular thing bad.
Wrong one again FRICK i'm deeply sorry
post hair
have a nice day
>I'm tired of pretending it's not
Then don't. Trade your fake opinion for a generic contrarian one. Nobody cares either way.
It was revolutionary for its time but didn't age well at all, and I'm saying this as a hardcore OoTgay.
Unironically needs a proper remake/reimagining in this day and age, not some lazy-as touchups akin to the 3DS """remaster.""""
