Yes, similar to minecraft. Minecraft never did it for me though. Valheim did. Valheim actually has combat and progression like terraria, and boats. Sailing across the deadly sea with precious cargo can't be beat.

Meh, I find it fun. Great adventuring, the combat is very solid, it's difficult, unique graphics, proc gen. Great game.

What I find appealing about Terraria is that you are making unique plans to survive and conquer each biome as well as creating boss arenas and the like, all the while creating various machinations to make your life easier. The focus isn't neccessarily on collecting X resource to collect Y resource to collect Z resource. Dwarf Fortress hits similar notes, but arguably even better due to the wildly different starts you can have and the different ways things can play out due to pretty autistic procgen. Like once I had a cow kick a demon to death so I had a fortress that started worshipping cows as gods, refused to kill or eat them, and became like dwarf india.
Is Valheim like that, or is it just collect resources and craft?
Oblivion is the shit one, with no redeeming qualities. At least the combat system in Morrowind gives ample ways to play around with it, it's a thinkers game, massive rewards for understanding the possibilities.
It has nice settings but yes most of the series is one terrible game after another. The only time I really see people talking about these games is either shitposting or memes.
