Not only that, Weretiger was just free and consistent high damage output, and the berserk part only really comes out in a handful of boss fights.

I do this a lot but the ones that immediately come to mind:
Mog, since as a kid I thought the dances were cool
    Red XIII
    Huge assortment of pokemon
Rolling with all bangaa in FFTA

      >Mog, since as a kid I thought the dances were cool
Mog's actually really good as long as you know how to kit him properly. His Dances kick ass in the WoB but fall off hard in the WoR, but at that point, you can turn him into a near-invincible tank with good damage output. A better example would be Cyan, who is clearly one of the worst characters, though the game is easy enough that it doesn't really matter unless you're moronic.

In Final Fantasy Tactics I always have a generic female character in my final party. She won't have exclusive skills, but I like having her around.
Last time I finished Valkyrie Profile I used Nanami, Badrach and Jayle. They are not that good according to Gamefaqs and Badrach in particular has very weak attacks, but they are the characters I wanted to use because of their designs, backstories, weapons...
This might go in the opposite direction. Glenn is widely considered the strongest character in Chrono Cross after Serge, but I have never used him because he just looks so boring...
Jrpgs are not that hard and part of the fun is making parties with characters that you like, so I don't tend to minmax. I'll always include at least one cute girl and characters that I find cool or likeable.

One only master does that and she only adds +5% to make it 75% which is still garbage. Momo is best apprenticed to make her a support mage, Emitai works for that.

              >Give her the accuracy accessory
              >Give her dual (and later, triple) strike

There, fixed, Ryu can use the pure damage skills and dragon out in lieu of multistrike. Not like it even fricking matters anyway, BOFIII is like half a narrative and 80% of its runtime is running back and forth through the same zero encounter areas.

Momo with Shadowwalk is deadly. Can't miss when the bazooka is right on top of you.

I like not playing as Crono, Ayla or (speed-tabbed) Robo in Chrono Trigger. Makes the game more interesting when you don't use the powerhouses. Marle in particular is the weakest character in the game with one VERY specific use-case (Haste) but if you play the crusty ROMhack that lets you swap out Crono as early as Robo, game is less "Sword!Goku goes on time adventures with D-Fighters" and more "some random bimbo barely holds it together and relies on the super power of teamwork to not get buttraped through time." I love it.
On that note, Marle should've been the main character since she's the driving force that sets the party's main goal, you play the game and it's like "here's the strongest historical figure of each time period."

I always like to have a cute girl in my Yu-Gi-Oh decks, even if they don't "do" anything. It's fun when they pop up from time to time and every once in a long while they'll beat the odds and save the day.
I've ran dozens of different girls over my many playthroughs. Most often I use Curran because she's excellent against stall decks and having an out to those feels great.
I believe the absolute weakest I've ever played with is Harpie Girl, long before modern support. In one game I managed to get into a situation where my opponent and I both had no field and no hand. He was down to 500 LP and I heart-of-the-cards'd Harpie Girl.
In my years with the series I've won hundreds of duels and before I'm done with it I'll have won thousands. I don't think I'll ever forget that one.

    >Tactics Ogre
I dismiss all my starting generics and hire one or two with very defined roles that I use in every battle over uniques unless it's mandatory to deploy them.
    >FFT
I keep Boko around, even if that means doing Sunny-Side Ups with the eggs it shits out every day.
    >SMT games.
I haven't played many, but I try to stick with the first demon I can convince as long as I can, even if it means benching it.
Not retro, but i it was nice to have that initial Pixie in Strange Journey working as a cleric with Amrita and Mediarama for most of my game, despite being harder and harder to level her up.
    >Unreal/UT '99
The Bio Rifle is my second favorite gun after the Flak Gun (pbuh), despite being so situational.
    >Saga Frontier
I like Mutant/Monster characters, even if the rest are miles better when it comes to training and using them. Coon's scenario is not my favorite but I always try to get it to come along with my party.

He's good, my last playthrough I went with Zidane/Freya/Amarant/Quina for the hell of it and actually had a good time. The problem with Amarant is that it takes too long for him to become really good, i'm talking quite late in the game. Some of his skills are decent, but you still have to buy shit for his Throw ability until you get his better skills later on.

Me too, bug is my favorite along with rock. Catching and training bugs really feels like the core experience of the games.

They really peaked in gen 7.

Neimi from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Her growths are actually pretty good and unlike the other early archers from GBA games she has a pretty good promotion option (Ranger). However, her bases are so garbage and archer's such a bad class it's just not optimal to train her if you're going for any kind of quick or efficient playthrough. Her promotion doesn't even give her a D rank in swords, so she's stuck with iron weapons for a while.

I heard you, but I don't understand you. Aren't his techs some of the strongest in the game?

        Anonymous

Let's put it this way: he's the fastest and easiest character to bring up to his peak potential, but said peak is not as high as others'. Come late game, his whole deal basically becomes spamming Bum Rush and occasionally Air Blade and that's it. His downside is that he has few good equipment options. His weapons are nothing special, and his armors straight-up suck and grant him few immunities (unless you give him the Paladin Shield) or stat bonuses. As for the damage output, yes, it's very good, but with some work, other characters eclipse him, and that's without Ultima.

Again, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he sucks. He's simply suboptimal IF you know what you're doing with the other characters, and to be frank, FF6 is so easy that it hardly matters and you're free to go "bum rush go brrrrrrr" 'till your eyes fall out and beat everything.

These are the two most annoying frickers in the series to fight. They should be erased from existence. I can't believe both these buttholes got a base roster spot in SF6. Just another of hundreds of reasons why that game is ass.
