If you were there, it's a fantastic hit of nostalgia. If you weren't, I would literally say play anything else, even GSC is leaps and bounds more user friendly than RBY.
I'm not the same anon, I just think starting from GT4 is moronic. If you're a zoomzoom who is allergic to PS1 games, then GT3 is better. But ideally GT2 is best starting point.
By starting with GT4 you're skipping GT2 and GT3, some of the best games in the franchise. >b-bubut muh simcade >mumumumuh oversteer

currently playing throught GT3, and i have no idea why everyone loves it so much, it feels like such a slog to get going compared to other titles, and all of the later races are just artificially lengthened and it gets tiring after a while, hell the Super GT series in the professional league is 10 races that are 15-20 laps each, and thats one of like 8 championships in the pro league, which many are carbon copies of amateur league championships but with more laps. i think its one of the prettiest gran turismos but the races and the small car list compared to other titles make it my least favorite gran turismo
Correct but wrong game. If you're trying to get into the whole series, starting from AC2 is more tolerable because AC1 is fairly primitive and ugly. Otherwise, AC04 is the better starting point for people who just want to understand the appeal of Ace Combat games.
op here and i wanna clarify that the first one is fun and actually more colorful than its sequels would later become, but the main issue is it's a completely unplayable fricking mess thanks to the poor handling of the cars and extreme almost cartoonish oversteer that would actually persist well into both revolution and rage racer with minimal improvement
type 4 is the first one in the series that actually starts becoming playable

It’s the only game in the mainline series that excuses the gameplay and visuals. It’s the best game in the series and I grew up playing from gen 4 onwards. The main series of games overall is dogshit baby game
I played Ridge Racer 1 on a friend's PS Classic the other day. It was pretty good. Not amazing, but it was fun to play on cocaine. Then again, a lot of things are really fun on cocaine.
You should absolutely play it in release order to see how a simple game with "drifting" as the hook had evolved to be such absolute kino. God bless pre-9/11 Namco.
MG2 was actually sick, loved solving the Korean tapcode puzzle which was the one thing the third game didn't rehash. Had the first instance of crawling in the series as well.

Disgaea because the first one is the best one and playing it first will just make you disappointed with the rest of the series
