its not RNG. The only RNG is what flavor of the 4 ordeal types it will spawn and the only time that is relevant is two missions late in the game where two ordeals are very easy and the 3rd is very hard.
In actuality anon probably didnt engage with the mechanics at all and sent a low level agent to interact with a deadly abnormality, watched as he failed his work, and then watched it breach and kill his agents
