Nothing wrong with leitmotifs. SMB3 had a sever issue of repetitive music, despite its diversity of environments.

homie, what? The cape is hilariously broken. It can defeat enemies that the fire flower can't hurt and you can easily skip segments of a stage (if not the whole thing) with its flight. It also has an easier to use version of the tanooki hovering where you just need to hold the button.

It has more variety in koopaling fights than 3.

It has sub areas, alternative paths and secrets. It's also aesthetically prettier than 3's worlds in the sense that it grows as you finish levels and contains more interesting routes, rather than being a simple grid. It feels more like a proper world.

There are two of them, one accessible through pipes and the other by reaching 100 points when you finish a level.
Spin jump had no reason being so fun
I like Baldi, but not in the "I'm super invested in it" way. I respect it for being a pretty funny parody of shitty horror-for-kids games while being a fun game at its core. plus mystman is a homestar runner fan so he's pretty fricking based

This game plays nothing like the older titles. Though each generation changes the gameplay a bit, this is making it almost an entirely different genre.
AC4 did that. This one looks closer to the originals.

Same, as long as it was done right. Stuff like the character just staring at you, not being able to leave the room, having some weird and hyper realistic thing in the game that characters don't address- things like that. And no lore like 'Mr. Scruffles is actually your brother who died because of company negligence that was covered and' like just make a creepy game based around edutainment games.

For me it's the fact that, depsite being made in two weeks, has better gameplay then a good chunk of the other mascot horror it's parodying.
I remember my supervisor brought in her autistic teenage son to work and this shit was all he would talk about. He was clued to his iPad and constantly blasting baldi related youtube videos.
So now whenever I see this game posted I think "oh, it's that autist game"
