Itt: games that have an overblown reputation in regards to their complexity and difficulty. This doesnt mean that they are necessarily bad (or good), just that you feel like people dont have the right image on them for one reason or another

Sorry to for shitting up the thread already but 100% everything Paradox ever shat out.
People act like those games are these sophisticated simulations and get intimidated by all the buttons but most of those buttons are useless and most of the content is just fluff.
true
it's all style and no substance
Yea once you accustomed to paracuck gaems they really are not as great as they are made out to be.
I mean, for me, going from civ4 to eu3 was incredible in how much more there was in diplomacy and just engagement with the world. And as much as people here like to shit on them for lack of depth, there still isn't anything that comes close to them. I'm not trying to say they're masterworks or anything. But they do stuff nothing else does at least marginally well.
eu is a historical immersion sim
civ is an actual game and its gameplay loop is light years ahead in terms of non superficial complexity
Lets get straight to the point. There are two types of men. There are Chads, like myself, who accept the limitations of eu for what they are, and then there are small dick raving homosexuals, like yourself, who gets filtered by any difficulty level but the lowest in civ.
BUT here's the GOOD NEWS for YOU.
Despite your love of sodomy and despite your extremely low intelligence nothing will ever change for you.
That's not actually good news. But I knew you read this far.
moronic Black person, I play exclusively deity
t. paracuck
damn
Can you point to specific "non superficial complexities" that civilization has which eu lacks?
The complexity is superficial. It's a smokescreen.
civ doesn't even have that
did you actually play civ 4
moron
Im going to point back to this unanswered question
Eu has serious flaws, but I don't know of anything else on the market that is more substantially complex that doesn't also have a massively reduced scale
No one who plays them here says otherwise
Dwarf Fortress comes to mind. Lots of unneeded simulation and pointlessly complex mechanics which add nothing to gameplay (like military screen). The game isn't even close to as hard as people pretend it is, most of the challenge is in learning the garbage UI.
They are releasing a version with a proper UI soon
>He thinks the Steam version is real
Fat frick dev already confirmed it was just a joke
The UI filters people off of a very simple game loop that doesn't even seem to be getting fixed in the Steam version.
Dwarf Fortress is hard to control but very easy to play. As soon as you learn the stupidly complex controls you realize how easy it is compared to most other modern colony builders. Kingdoms would be able to last longer than a few decades before succumbing to frame death if it weren't for the pointless simulation aspects that add nothing to the game.
Dwarf Fortress is an obsessively simulated world to the point of being redundant first, a game later. I agree with the UI being overly complex for no reason at all though.
Its complex because toadys top priority was having some in game way of controlling the shit he wanted to control, making it a pleasant user experience was way down the list
The complex mechanics are the whole point. It's intended to be a fantasy world simulator more than a challenging game
And most of the excitement comes from waiting to see if a dwarf makes an artefact with 1 sentence or paragraphs to describe it and the scene it holds.
I never understood why books were never given similar flavour text instead of just "It's bound in sandstone, the prose is shit, overall it's okay, 3 stars".
I thought Toady's top priority was just generating a world and he had no intention of actually playing in it, just reading file outputs?
If only Toady cared for the actual game aspect of df. But alas we'll have to wait until he croaks before gameplay is addressed
It’s an antfarm, who thinks it’s overly complex? In fact, it’s simplicity leads to ease of modding, the real reason Tynan (pbuh) struck it big.
Mostly people offsite (who maybe didnt even play it) who think because there is temperature simulation it has to be super deep or some shit. I agree wholeheartedly with you and dont get it either
Where has anyone ever claimed that its complex?

i have never seen anyone say rimworld is complex or difficult
id din't know people thought it was overly complex or difficult
Sure, it's popular for being "complex" and "difficult" but not overly so, in my opinion. cant really trust normies anyways, they just watched their favorite youtuber play it
who the frick thinks rimworld is difficult?
it's only difficult if you specially seek difficulty out ie getting too big
The game is difficult, it's just difficult because it loves to throw bullshit at you.
