Unironically the closest you're ever gonna get to that is Bleak Faith Forsaken
From the name alone I can tell it's some dark fantasy soulsshit with zero whimsy or grace
Amalur is too steeped in MMO tropes
Okay, what about Sacred 2?
>stare at the ground genre
no
OH you meant high fantasy in particular
Well in that case something like Kingdoms of Amalur still applies
Fable
>modern
what are you gay?
the bard's tale? 😀
that art is wonderful. I do wish we'd have media like that again, but I have my suspicions as to why we don't
anyway, I have an idea for a game that I don't think has really been done before, at least not in the AA or AAA space, which is just a game with a single boss fight and nothing else
the idea is that it'd be more of a simulation of what it'd really be like to fight a monster, rather than being a fantasy of one where you just figure out the pattern and beat it after a few minutes. I'd want it to have roughly 500 unique ways to kick your shit in, whether it's throwing you through a wall or smashing your head off the ceiling. endless variations in its animations and ways it can interact with the environment and props, all sorts of minutiae
no idea how fun it would be, but I can see it in my mind's eye and it's fun to me
oh great, another "No not like that" thread
that's not a game, that's a setting
Games can sell on settings, as if anyone would give a shit about Elden Ring if it had Goodbye Volcano High's setting
A SINGLE (1, one) RPG with a rape mechanic.
Black Souls 1 and 2.
And the Rance series if you consider how Rance does it a mechanic.
CK2 with mods
sup consul
a MODERN Japanese D&D game with this aesthetic.
>modern
Why would you want that?
Hating modern things is not a substitute for your lack of a personality.
That's not what I'm asking.
This has me thinking
Has there ever been a fullblown Japanese CRPG? Or if not actually Japanese, a fullblown CRPG with an anime aesthetic and Japanese-style tropes?
Sword World PC
(no, it's not available in English nor has it been ported to western PCs)
lunatic dawn
>completely straightforward, earnest, and naive
People like that aren't allowed in the industry
Assassin's Creed Odyssey was like that but neo-/v/eddit always just goes
>le female protagonist
>le ubisoft towers
They'll somehow suck off Origins though despite being the same thing
Both games are shit and you are a newhomosexual
Shut the frick up please.
I don't know if you're being genuinely moronic or just baiting but please frick off.
Fully destructible environments, one life, the goal is to cause as much damage as possible.
Solo mode : you're the evil world destroyer.
Multiplayer mode : you're the evil world destroyer or the hero trying to stop him.
Kaiju mode : you're not just a person, you're a huge monster and you have whole continents to destroy. Entire armies are sent against you from the start.
I hate fantasy because it's always colonial period people pretending to be middle ages people. Just do the middle ages or give me colonial fantasy. Don't just throw colonial shit into France and Germany with English castles.
Divinity: Ego Draconis?
dragon's dogma?
>no Open-World Adventure Action Role-Playing Game set in the Roman period
it's fricking unfortunate honestly
play Spartan: Total Warrior
also Age of Decadence
can i create my character? can i play as other factions besides just romans? no? it's not what i wanted
>that part of the game where Tom Bombadil gets you all to strip naked and play in a flower field together
Kino
Naive? What does that look like?
A setting is naive when the writing doesn't contain modern mannerisms or moral concepts
