This is my number one issue with all of the more recent DQ translations, but the DS trilogy is by far the worst. DQ5 opens with literally Speedy fricking Gonzalez talking. All of the phonetic accents are garbage and add nothing of substance. I get it, DQ has bland writing and npcs so you have to jazz it up for the burgers who would get bored, but Jesus Christ. I haven't played the android ports of the first 3 but I'm assuming the dialogue is massacred.

Exile reads like a child trying to sound smart wrote it, just add more words and make it longer, that makes it good. I forget which one I downloaded to my 3ds, kinda worried now.

Fates is already a poorly written game as it is, but the localization alters many supports or creates plotholes and OOC behaviour.
To this day I don't understand why they americanized so bad.
Because actual translations didn't work for the series historically but a meme dub did turn a no hoper like Kid Icarus into an actual franchise.
DQ's accented translations are soul unleashed. Only homosexuals complain about them. Glad more RPGs are taking to it.
