>Doing a Fort of Fortune >Three mermaids in the water >Spend about an hour and a half doing it with bros, just shooting the shit as we go >Finish, grab the key and immediately take off for the North East >Put down The Shores of Gold checkpoint >Rush into the Gold Hoarder dungeon, dive into a spike pit with the key where no one can get it >mfw I get several hate messages for it
It's not about the money, it's about sending a message.
I wish creative shit like this was the norm instead of it just being 100% deathmatch all the time at all times nonstop.
I agree, which is why I use my mic all the time and try to talk to every crew at least one. It's amazing the fun shit you can get into when people are just willing to talk, even if it is just banter while you fight.
There isn't a multiplayer game on the market right now that doesn't have a shit community. Whether that means total carebears that snuff out all fun or people who exclusively play games to go sealclubbing, or the absolute autists who make up 99% of MMO players that refuse to talk to other players and might as well just be fricking bots, every multiplayer game is a fricking joke. That's not even mentioning the rampant cheating in every online game.
Old internet is dead, it's gone, it isn't coming back. You're never going to have fun playing a multiplayer game ever agian, it's over.
>2021 >A game and its developer allows anything and everything and won't ban you unless you cheat or use racial slurs
That's the shocking part about Sea of Thieves. You can literally spend your entire day griefing and shitting on everybody while they scream "I'm doing tall tales!" and the devs will just say "it's part of the game, deal with it."
Yeah I really respect that Rare is not catering to the PvE only whiners. They've given them a few things like checkpoints in Tall Tales but that doesn't detract from me shitting on any and every boat I find.
I've been playing sea of thieves for the past months and I have called literally everyone I came across a Black person. If they don't use voice chat then I call them Black folk on chat.
No ban, no warning so far
Rare is good about banning people if you submit video proof of what the other person did, but most people can't be bothered to record a clip of the offense.
Xbox/Xbox Game Bar have an option you can turn on that continually records in the background, but only saves the last 30 seconds or so of footage. So I can hit record right after something happens and I'll have it saved.
>login >3 buds are online ready to pirate >we supply up and head out to sea >spend the next 5-6 hours doing nothing but chasing down sloops for sport >"gg lads, see you tomorrow"
great game
>Go to do -insert any event- >8 mermaids in the water because the "hardcore" pvp'ers would rather sit there and wait for you to solo the event for 8 hours than just fight you >Sleep under a barrel and wait for them to leave, they never do

>open world game >the only progression is cosmetic >I got the outfit I wanted already with like 4 hours playtime doing the shitty PvP mode
what's the point in playing?
SoT strikes that perfect balance of simplified realistic sailing. Complex enough that a single person could never efficiently man a Galleon or even a Brigandine, but simple enough to be intuitive.
I like that the depth of the game is in mastering the straightforward mechanics. Everyone knows how a chainshot works, but being able to consistently hit a mast from a distance is the kind of thing that separates the true pirates from the average player.
It is tough, since it feels like they have a pretty normal arc over the short distance but then just drop off really fast. But there is nothing more frustrating than fighting someone who is knocking your mast down instantly every single time you get it back up.
>When you first play the game and think the melee combat is basic as frick >Then you discover guard sword lunge jumping which launches you a fricking mile, and how to combine it with juke chases to line up multiple players for ez kills
There's a lot of tricky sword shit you can do which will just absolutely baffle most players. I'll wipe out a whole brig crew on my own with the sword and they'll b***h the whole time because they just kept trying to catch the one blunder.
I got boarded by a frenchman the other day and whilst he was climbing up the ladder he kept going "Black personBlack personBlack personBlack personBlack person"
sea of thieves is the last bastion of mainstream video game freedom
I have never met a Frenchman in real life, but I have come across a bunch in the Sea of Thieves and every single one is the angriest son of a b***h alive. Is this normal?
french people are like the embodiment of Ganker, they hate their country, but strangers even more. And with Louis de Funès as their role model it's not that surprising.
>I got boarded by a frenchman the other day and whilst he was climbing up the ladder he kept going "Black personBlack personBlack personBlack personBlack person"
I can only imagine how hilarious that must have been with a thick french accent.
It can be, but I think there's two important things you'll need to keep in mind.
1. Everything is going to be harder. You can manage a sloop by yourself, but if you get into a fight it is hard to steer, manage sails, repair, and shoot all by yourself.
2. If you can't manage the above, be ready to talk to people. A surprising number of people are willing to alliance or at least just leave you alone if you talk it out and state your intentions before shooting.
Also don't use the Open Crew option, use the Game Finder that's built into Xbox/Xbox Game Bar. People will list what they are doing and what kind of crew they want, so more often than not you'll find actual serious players and not random kids who will set the ship on fire then disconnect.
>Game literally designed to grief >Game with literally nothing to do but kill skeles >Game that didn't patch friendly feature into it 3 years too late
Wow, why aren't all these pirates my friends?
This game has the best community. It's fricking PIRATES, what do you expect?
easy
what do I win?
League is more toxic dude.
In Dota you get spam pinged, in LoL they wish your family cancer on a daily basis.
>League is more toxic dude
no it's not, you get banned if you're toxic in league
nothing happen in dota
you get banned if you say a bad word in league, bro
Good.
Thanks for thinking my post was interesting enough to save.
I laughed my ass off at that shit, anon.
What's the point of anonymously taking credit for a post you anonymously posted?
Because it's mine.
And? Its a Ganker post. Obviously someone from Ganker posted it.

These morons seethe when you even mention the idea of a cute fire rabbit Pokemon getting the game

That's literally my response every time someone b***hes at me for fighting or sinking them. "Pirate game, deal with it".
I've been playing sea of thieves for the past months and I have called literally everyone I came across a Black person. If they don't use voice chat then I call them Black folk on chat.

absolutely based. how the frick snowflakes are going to record an offense after it already happened anyway

To fight other people, duh.
you're a pirate, go sail the seven seas with your pirate bros
Because it's fun.
I feel I'm slowly getting better with chainshot, but frick is it hard to gauge the distance sometimes.
It is tough, since it feels like they have a pretty normal arc over the short distance but then just drop off really fast. But there is nothing more frustrating than fighting someone who is knocking your mast down instantly every single time you get it back up.

Never gets old
Is this game fun without friends? All my friends play other games.
You can join in active crews, but the game excels with friends.
Also don't use the Open Crew option, use the Game Finder that's built into Xbox/Xbox Game Bar. People will list what they are doing and what kind of crew they want, so more often than not you'll find actual serious players and not random kids who will set the ship on fire then disconnect.
I wish I had friends to enjoy vidya with. The last time I had a proper crew for playing videogames with was almost 5 years ago
>Game literally designed to grief

Wow, why aren't all these pirates my friends?
>Game that didn't patch friendly feature into it 3 years too late
What?
You can now put up flags to say "let's be friends" and if strangers do the same, you make a super-crew that can see each other on the map.
Added in the megalodon patch, never seen it used after that
So you're talking about a feature that was added three years ago, and just several months after the game came out?
Reminder that if you don't always sail with kegs you aren't a real pirate.
>Stack them at the front
>use it to ram other ships
It amazes me that people still put kegs in the crow's nest and not on the bowsprit. It's so dumb and is just asking for you to get fricked.
"toxic"
Please go back.
Nice water.
