Actually I think Ishin had the same grab as Emma but the way the fight flows you don't get caught out as much, but then sekiro was just in general more well put together than any of the soulslikes were.
Would it really have been that hard to make a few different animations for how far you are grabbed from, sure you are always going to need to teleport the player into position but you can mitigate it with more animations for general zones.
Falcon is pretty mediocre in Ultimate though, even Fatality has laughable results and loses badly to any top player. What other Falcon has done anything significant with the character in Ult?
So many of the best characters in the game shit on Falcon and can do everything he does but better, there's no reason to play a legacy character like C. Falcon.

literally no one is defending that. if anything, since the very beginning people have complained that ultimate patches suck dick because they don't really change much compared to smash 4 patches. there were like 11 or so patches and the only change that was comparable to a smash 4 patch was them hard nerfing pichu. no character has been buffed to the extent of smash 4 character buffs either.
What are the odds they pull a Street Fighter and save all the really obvious balance changes for a remixed version of Ult? I bet they're holding so much content back on purpose.
In terms of holding back major balance changes, not likely. Sakurai said from the start that they weren't going to balance the game off of online opinions anymore and would do it off of elite smash win rates or some shit like that.
It was literally the opposite. Cloud stopped being brain dead easy after people got used to fighting him and you couldn't just auto cancel dair and win anymore. Pretty much everyone stopped having pocket Clouds because they stopped working, except for doubles where he was broken as frick. After pocket Clouds died off, people started picking up Bayonetta and you had absolute shitters start topping their locals and majors.
Hence him getting shrunk down. His hitboxes clearly extend far beyond what they should, but Brawl was a total fricking shitshow that was proof HAL was the true talent behind Smash all along.

note how shitty brawl's music was compared to melee, where there was a cohesive style and approach to the remixes.
you can listen to any melee song and recognize it's from melee, but so many brawl songs sound like a wii u or even ultimate song.

Sakurai is on record saying that he balanced the game himself and his favorite character to play in Brawl was Ganon, who was undeniably beyond garbage and has a 1-99 MU against an olimar who only has the Z button. The fact that they didn't catch things like DDD's dthrow chains/infinites should tell you something

No, and it's actually way more likely that Sakurai was not over balance in Melee or Smash 64 beyond basic stuff because the decision-making was short-sighted for meta reasons mostly but not totally bad in a vacuum (compare NTSC to PAL Melee while keeping in mind how trash everyone was at the game at the time)
The much, much larger issue with Ultimate aren't the hitboxes but shifting hurtboxes which constantly lead to wonky, shitty interactions and moves which don't look that good being stupid. There's no reason that slide moves should beat so many other moves for example, but here we are. A huge chunk of what makes Pika/Joker frustrating to fight against is hurtbox shifting.
