I started with Empire of Dreams and enjoyed it for being a more classic platformer, for some reason a lot of indie platformers had been rubbing me the wrong way for one reason or another, I would recommend them as underrated platformers if they're the only ones that existed, and I'd say the same about if the Wii version were the original. The PSX original version of DtP and Lunatea's Veil kind of blew me away with how much attention to small details those games put.

I use and accept pronouns, I'll call anyone whatever they ask of me but if you have he or she as an option 99.9% of people will use it and needing to specify he/they is moronic since everyone calls everyone they at some point depending on the sentence and no one is going to strive for they unless they want to kiss your ass. Essentially in my experience signaling pronouns is moronic unless you're in danger of being misgendered somehow (A non-issue for most people, including trans people) and it would really bother you to ask for a small correction.

That is a very Greek interpretation of the story. At least in my schizo headcanon he got over what was bothering him since DtP over the duration of the story and was made ready for more challenging tasks. Essentially it made the bittersweet ending actually a happy one.

It's fun adventure vibes all through the sun kingdom. In fact Joka is more upset at Klonoa than Klonoa is at him, and for the rest of the time Klonoa is just reacting to events as they happen. That death scene is so glossed over I sometimes wonder if it was just there for pointless shock value or if through all the rewrites its significance was dropped along the way. You could have Joka just sneak in and steal the pendant and change literally nothing else and the story would still play out the same.

Any kind of follow up for a major story event like that would have been nice. I would have settled for him having at least one line about it when confronting Joka and as a bonus, maybe a single mention at the end when he and Huepow were sitting together. As it is, like I said the scene of him getting killed is completely pointless.

I just wanted to capture some of the magic from the mainline games, the engine itself was playable enough but I never got around to implementing some of the more advanced features. It was even featured on the channel of that one fan that posts a lot of videos of the official games and is in a playable state.
I'm making a Zelda like game currently but the engine I'm working on now is flexible as hell, and will probably be used to power a Klonoa fan game at some point.
I was the anon that were posting all the "Lunatea represents Klonoa's mind" related stuff and they're mostly based on the theories of the psyche by Carl Jung, who was a Swiss psychologist that focused a lot of his work on patterns in dreams and derangements of schizophrenic patients, and is partly the reason I have some renewed interest in the franchise because of that, because it gave me an idea of how I could write interesting stories for a potential fangame.
Nta but if you haven't heard of it, there's a virtual console called pico-8 that has a low bar for entry that a lot of indie devs use, since it has low requirements there's less pressure and it may be worth a look if you want a less stressful time developing something for fun. I'm not huge on p8 but I would definitely play a Klonoa on it.
I have developed a system I'm pretty happy with already. It also also allows me to ship games with extremely versatile modding tools.
The only downside really is that it isn't able to utilize the GPU properly with the plugin I'm using, but still it can blit approx 30k 16x16 tiles every frame while holding a steady 60fps so it's good enough for the projects I'm working on.

Play the original, buy the remake. The remake doesn't do everything perfectly and outright guts the artistic direction of the originals, but it's the only way to make it clear people want more Klonoa by buying it.
Emulate 1 then buy the remake for 2 if you can't emulate that.
