>Is revealed as a hack fraud 3 decades later
Why so many cases?
>Japanese artist/dev takes credit for creating IP that goes on to become huge

Why so many cases?
Pic unrelated. You're talking about Yuji Naka. The Guch had his undoing 20 years ago, but has still put out good games since then.
The problem with Spirits Within is they brought in Western script writers to rework it for Western "sensibilities" and the plot, as it was originally intended, suffered greatly. I think you can read between the lines and see what it was supposed to be, not to mention success in Hollywood isn't a great indicator of whether or not a movie is actually any good (otherwise we'd just be talking about capeshit all day)
Took him less than 4 years to sell out.
moron
>Tarogays are already here defending Voice of Cards
>NOOOOO MY DIRECTORINO ISN'T ALLOWED TO MAKE HECKIN CARDERINO GAMESSSSSSSSSSSS
you goddamn motherfricking moron, do you even know about sinoalice? the nier mobile game? your opinion is so fricking stupid I'd be worth if you threw yourself off a cliff, you stupid monkey.
lol yeah I'm sure the last good final fantasy being created just before he left is a coincidence
>just ignore Japanese devs shitting the bed with PS3
Get some reading comprehension. Square haven't been good since the PS2.
how is blue dragon? this guy + uematsu + art from toryiama sounds great but I never read Ganker ever mentioning this game
blue dragon is amazing, play it on hard mode its basically normal mode compared to any other jrpg.
Its more a dragon quest/ni no kuni kinda rpg then it is a final fantasy/lost odysee type of things but its really good
Extremely cheesy, but not bad considering all the new FF's after X-2 are really boring.
>how is blue dragon?
it's mediocre as hell
the only reason sakaguchi sucks donkey wiener now is because he never had his old team from square.
I used to think final fantasy was doomed as a whole until i played ff14 recently. Yoshi P is the new sakaguchi for square
14 is objectively the worst ff ever and yoshitpiss is hack supreme
sad cope
I dunno man. FF was pretty shit the moment he left until yoship started saving it with his team. It's still very meh but at least it didn't go all the way like blizzard did and is recovering now. The fact that it went to shit so hard after he left just shows that sakaguchi was the heart and soul of final fantasy all along even if he didn't make anything relevant after he left
>yoship started saving it
the MMO isn't saving anything because it's players only care for that game and not the franchise
not true at all. It's literally the best ff game since the PS2 era. You are moronic anon. Last game was 15 and it sucked and the 7 remake is not only a spinoff but also shit. There is nothing left to care about at the moment
not an argument
literally an argument unlike your falseflagging bullshit lol
>There is nothing left to care about at the moment
Chaos' game will be great, just you wait and see
>7 remake
Rent free, YoshiPissgay. It's 20x a game next to a an ERP lobby sim with boring ass fetch quests.
We have to wait and see ff16 tbh, that game will make or break single mainline player final fantasy
You should have put Inafune instead of Sakaguchi if you didn't want to have a nice day in the foot anon.
It's has to do with Japan's hierarchal culture
The guys in charge are surrounded by yes men that are unable and incapable of bringing forward criticisms to make the games better
>have successful, still growing video game franchise with plenty of profit
>spend all the money on a failing movie/tv show for absolutely no reason
why are game devs like this
Arrogance. Sakaguchi thought he had what it takes for him to be another Kojima.
You're right about the arrogance, but Square was on top of the world in the late 90s and Sakaguchi had his hand in dozens of successes either as director or producer.
>another Kojima
Come on now. Even Kojima has never attempted an actual movie.
They were only successful because there was nothing better at the time
>nothing better in the late 90s
Ocarina, MGS, Half Life, Quake 2, Crash 2, 3 & CTR, Spyro, Banjo, Thief, Age of Empires, Resident Evil 2, etc.
>nothing better
Which means they were the best.
Something tells me you didn't even exist in the 90s.
He also wanted to make a dogshit UPS sim?
this was way before kojima lol, spirits withing came out before mgs2
>mgs2
Shut up zoomie Kojima made literal VNs before MGS
>this was way before kojima lol
Metal Gear was 1987 and Snatcher was 1988, lil' zoom
have a nice day you fricking zoomer moron
Spirits Within is a good movie, I don't think Kojima would be able to make a good movie.
They knew they were good, same as how Nintendo in the 90s though they would never need those filthy japanese third party games on the N64. Square could have easily become like Disney of vidya with how they turned every FF game into a event showcasing new technology but tried too much too soon, if they had waited until games became the most profitable thing in the world around gen 7 to drop a massive and costly bomb on every other industry I think things would have been very different.
Miyamoto has proved this theory for years but Nintendo still keeps sniffing his ass.
Pikmin 3 wasn't even that good.
Because a group of developers make the game, Prima Donna makes shit.
Has he been forgiven yet?
>seeing both berseria and arise being both success and beloved by fans
kicking him out was the correct choice.
All his games are kino.
Sakaguchi is really a visionary. It's just that his movie and 3D models took off too early. He should've released them now instead of then.
Because those people are just brands. You don't actually know if they even make games anymore with most of them. Kojima is probably the only one who really is irreplaceable and every time he is replaced the fake attempt at copying Kojima is instantly noticeable. Ghost Babel and POps tried to be proper MGS games but you can easily tell they were not. Survive tried to pull a ruse but you could easily tell it wasn't a Kojima ruse. Meanwhile a presence of an icon like Shinji Mikami is barely noticeable, could anyone tell that he didn't direct The Evil Within 2? I couldn't
is spirits within a really bad movie or were just 3d animation movies not popular at all/ was it just understood at the time
There was hype for an FF movie, it's just that people wanted an FF movie like in the game, with swords and busty girls and all the typical FF shit like Chocobos and Moogles and summons.
TSW was really expensive for its time, but it wasn't really bad. It's actually an okay action flick.
It was probably ahead of its time. Too far ahead, since it put them $50 million in debt.
Pic unrelated coz he did create it. He created, wrote and directed FF1, 3, 4 and 5.
You should have chosen the obvious trio:
-Inafune
-Igarashi
-Yuji Naka
Yes it's bad. The script is nonsense. (saw it at a theatre).
>Lost Odyssey
That wasn't sakaguchi, it was Daisuke Fukugawa.
It's just a meh action movie that tried to appeal to americans with its structure and casting choices but had a gaia themed plot line that was never going to appeal to americans. It did far better on home video than in the cinema. The cost was outrageous though. If they had halved the budget and made it straight to DVD it would have made a profit.
It's like they wanted to make an FF7 film but were too embarrassed to actually do it for some reason so they just borrowed a bunch of plot beats and jumbled em up and turned Aerith into Adam Baldwin. What's dumb is if they just made a straight adaptation they would have probably made money hand over fist even if it still sucked
>literally hasn't been a good FF since he left
Hmmm
None of the games he has done since he left have been good either
The Last Story was good.
I was mainly thinking about The Last Story on my other post, so no
Then you are double wrong.
These games flopped for a reason. None of them were good.
>sales = quality
Go away.
>game didn't sell therefore it was bad
They flopped because they were 360, a platform where the players only cared about first and third person shooters. Enchanted Arms flopped as well for the same reason.
were exclusive to the 360*
Enchanted arms flops because it was a trash fricking game
Enchanted Arms is mediocre at best.
>using sales as a metric of success
>when FF7R bombed and FFXVI will do even worse than that
Seething. If FF7R bombed with 5.5M then Sakaguchi's shit wasn't even a blip on the radar.
Blue Dragon was ok
Lost Odyssey was great
lost odyssey was fricking amazing homosexual
>ffgays coping with their shit franchise
cant wait for xvi to come out and bomb
anyone remembers final fantasy unlimited anime
yes
I remember watching one episode or two that came free on one of those ps magazines, and hard jerking off to the main characters legs, it was enough for me, just bare legs, even on an animated character. good times I still very much love legs nowadays, more so than breasts and ass
>it was enough for me
I miss that
>final fantasy unlimited
I had forgotten, and for good reason
JRPG directors become worse over time. There are very few examples that became better over time.
What's more common is
>writer takes credit as lead story writer even though they had several people doing initial drafts and a team of editors, and when thy go on to write a game they're actually in charge of it's shit
or
>young up and comer directs a few good games, but then as time goes on they get worse and worse as they gain more clout and don't have people to tell them "No, that's a dumb idea" until they've completely lost sight of what make their games good to begin with
So, is he basically Japanese Bill Gates?
The Last Story is kino of the highest degree so you are wrong
