This was easily the most infuriating part of the whole game for me, even more than all the space magic temple homosexualry. The fact that they just make you sit there and take it and can't even explain how you relied on your background or get her to come around to your point of view. Just such fricking lazy design.

Granted, being forced to say or do moronic stuff is a mainstay of Bethesda games since FO3 but that doesn't make it fun. Nothing in Starfield is as bad as being forced to take the elder scroll back with the vampire girl.

Was there any faction you could join that would make Balmora hostile to you, or even most of the towns? I don't remember any, but I never did the vampire stuff.
The closest example I can think of in any game was STALKER, where you could join freedom and have the Bar be enemy territory, but I always stopped doing the faction quests before that because it sounded like complete cancer. Todd might be a moron but he knows enough to realize nobody actually wants that shit. Ironically, joining CF still sucks because it makes the pirates friendly.

You do realize that the UC Sysdef is basically a rogue faction acting outside of the jurisdiction of the colonies?
You can be UC Born, do the whole Vanguard quest, and the Sysdef scumbags will still try to kidnap you, force you and blackmail you to get you to help them, all of this while doing evil shit, like for example hiring mercenaries so they are killed by you so you look piratey.
Sysdef are the bad guys in case you didn't notice.

Some of the quests really should have had an option to say frick it i'll let the state deal with this nonsense, especially the colony ship one, even still roleplaying in choosing which state to inform about the situation
