Starts off slow and ramps up after chapter 9. Talk to npcs along the way and make sure you watch all the intro CGs before chapter 14.
Firearms can't improve with character growth. A bullet fired by a level 1 Civilian deals exactly the same amount of damage as a bullet fired by a level 50 Soldier.

It makes some sense on a spacecraft where stray shots could damage vital systems or puncture the hull. In general military combat you'd still likely be better off developing advanced ranged weapons that counter shields and those fools with vibro blades.
In Kotor non-Jedi's use melee weaponry because personal energy shields are a such prevailant issue that hasn't been worked around yet making blasters a bit of a liability.
in Shadowrun melee characters don't have to reload and can do shit like disarm homies.

It's too small, dummy. That's why chad archers still exist and gunners are ki-lets coping trying to make up the ki loss by shooting more bullets. Incidentally if you want to still be a gunner you can max STR and carry a cannon around and wrap your ki around the cannon balls.

I got filtered by the combat so all RPGs should stick to melee weapons.
JRPGs tend to follow the Rule of Cool, and sword fights are cooler than gun fights. Like with Star Wars you aren't supposed to think about it too much, just enjoy the ride.

Besides ROF you have Valkyria Chronicles but even that got sent into Melee realm with VC2 because Japanese people were put off on the focus of guns and tanks.
