IRL shitholes are full of happy people, they are still shitholes with lots of suffering. It's odd to depict a slum as devoid of suffering or dilapidation.
>They really think slums in the real world are wholesome places to live in.
Midgar is less like "slums" and more like a trailer park, which are full of content people making the best of it.
It's not devoid of it. It's just full of people trying to live in peace.
It shows you how out of touch Nomura and the rest of the team have become. They really think slums in the real world are wholesome places to live in.
If you actually lived in poor places you would know it's full of people working with each to survive. Not exactly happy, but not exactly as cynical as you people want to make it put to be.
You've never been to a slum or in any poorer downtown district, otherwise you wouldn't be spouting this nonsense. You have drug addicts, street shitters and screaming morons dotted all over the place, inbetween intense crowding and disgusting street vendors taking up what's left of the space.
The Remake doesn't reflect that desperation and overcrowding one bit. If anything, the people below the plate live rather comfortable lives, aside from b***hing about their jobs like Middle Class people do.
I wish i could see those drug addicts you mention in the og.
Oh man you just told me the og is heavily flawed.

The tone in the OG at least reflected a more bleak and depressing atmosphere. Yes, they had their technical limitations, but the devs back then put a lot more thought into their world than modern devs do, that's for damn sure.

Yeah thats until you speak with the npcs.
Oh man they fricked up the og, oh well that accurate since the game was rushed.

The npcs sounded rather miserable by comparison to the Remake, like you would expect them to. I literally played the game a month ago and finished the Remake last night. There's a clear difference in tone in the slums of both games and the Remake is far more cartoonishly optimistic at times. Also, I would've preferred if the Slums were under a constant dark twilight due to the lack of sun rays, it painted a much bleaker picture as well. Dark, depressing and oppressed, THAT is the Midgar slums.

In the original you steal 3gil from some kid's drawer and at first he's miserable but then gets over it
In the remake you gather all the town's watch kids who are wearing wooden swords because it's time for their wholesome orphanage lessons which they're super excited for. Then you jokingly charge them 3gil to go kill the hedghog pie that's running amok. Then the teacher tells you how she's like a mother to the children and blablabla and there's a wisecracking old lady who is like robbin hood and she tricks the news reporter guy and it's all lighthearted cringe

A lot of RPGs do this now and it gets nauseating how happy and optimisitc EVERYONE is all the time in every situation. There needs to be cynical douchebags and buttholes to balance it out.
Yeah, that and the fact that all the heroes will survive. It kind of kills the whole dystopia, bleakness vibe you get from the Original. At least Biggs, Wedge and Jessie bite the bullet along with the rest of sector seven and that's only in the first couple hours of the game. The Remake is way too chill and optimistic and happy-go-lucky, it gets rather annoying at times how happy these supposedly "suffering lower class" are.
Humans don't act that chipper when they live in shitty conditions. At least people felt real in the OG.
crisis core is dogshit and I'm tired of pretending it's not
"genesis rhapsodos" is the most cringe name they could've possibly came up with for a villian
the only thing that made every palatable was the god-tier voice actor for zack and when they recasted him for remake/reunion it made me realize just how godawful the story is playing through it again
the entire tone in remake was completely all wrong
not to mention the script was terribly localized AGAIN where certain scenes don't even make sense in english like they do in japanese because the characters are talking nonsense to each other and sometimes even change who they're supposed to be talking to >Barret in English: "Hey butthole!" (shouting at Sephiroth) >Aertih in English: "Don't!" (mad that he's yelling at Sephiroth????)
>Barret in Japanese: "Hey, it's that guy from before!" (clearly talking to the party when seeing Sephiroth) >Aerith in Japanese: "No, he's different." (replying with information important for understanding what is going on in the story)
Yeah, the English localization always drops the ball. I had to connect the dots myself because the main cast were written as if they suffered from short term memory loss or something.
Yeah, the English localization always drops the ball. I had to connect the dots myself because the main cast were written as if they suffered from short term memory loss or something.
Whoever wrote the English script was a moron.
>Barret in Japanese: "Hey, it's that guy from before!"
He's speaking in informal Japanese, so I imagine the localizer uses "Hey butthole!" to convey that, since crudity is a part of Barret's character.
Not sure about Aerith's reply.
frontal lobes tend to get lost in translation because apparently localizers don't have theirs
Every single SE game that gets localized suffer from this. Playing Nier Replicant with JP voices and subs was like experiencing two different stories at the same time, characters often said completely different things in Japanese.
>I'm replaying the remake with fresh eyes and one thing i gotta say is that I'm not sure about the wholesome route they went with for the slums. In the original it was a cynical apocalyptic shithole, in the remake everyone's so chipper.
You guys constantly complain that Remake is a "sequel" but then you are acting as if this different timeline couldn't have any changes in the setting. This is one of them and it was obvious. Budget allocation is very different here among Shinra executives here, as Reeve received more while Heidegger/Scarlet received less compared to OG timeline, which is why Midgar, including the Slums, are better developed, while Shinra failed to finish off Wutai.
Obviously there isn't because the reveal was a secret until the finale of Remake, so they couldn't spoil, but there are some very obvious points that support it. One is the existence of Stamp. When Remake introduced it, the obvious reaction of the average player was that it's a "retcon to enrich the world". But as we learn later, it's literally used as a distinguishing aspect to differentiate between different worlds. In other words Remake having Stamp but the OG not having it is not because of a retcon, but rather a difference between worlds. And so any other differences are now in a different light too. That "MUH SOVL vs soulless" comparison pic about the elevator in Reactor 1? Not a "lazy retcon" but rather an actual difference in worlds. The reactor is built much more stably, which is presumably also the reason why the bomb wasn't enough to create the expected chain explosion.
Another point is the plate height. It was increased from mere 50m to 6 times that at 300m (thus Cloud died and had to be revived by the whispers when he fell).
Of course you can always just die on the hill of "it's all just retcons!" but, again, Stamp proves otherwise.
>comparison pic about the elevator in Reactor 1? Not a "lazy retcon" but rather an actual difference in worlds.
No. Its purely laziness and you are a fool to think Square is that clever.
I get there are differences, but the whole change in funding thing was something you pulled out of your ass. Just because there are some changes in another timeline or Universe or w/e, doesn't give the devs can excuse to be lazy. They know what aesthetics worked before and should've just expanded on it, instead, they just slapped on some generic "modern day sensibility" textures and called it a day.
The difference between your claim and my claim is that mine is based on actual content in the games, while yours is literally just affirming a subjective imagine you've built of SE as a company over the years.

Its neither. Imagine being autistic to measure things up to such a high level as to prevent unintentional retcons here and there. Originalgays are so insufferable that one instance acted like Sephiroth killing President Shinra wasn't in the original game. Originalhomosexual grognards are really fricking embarrassing at this point.
>performing mental gymnastics and inventing head canon to explain away clear lore issues with remake
same shit happening now with the scaled down tiny world map
you apologist are insufferable
midgar is supposed to be 6km in diameter, yet at that scale it would be bigger than the entire western continent. you can even see just how ridiculous this is when you superimpose the route in midgar from the sector 5 church to don corneo's mansion. it's as long the path from kalm to bill's chocobo ranch
Maybe it's headcanon I invented years ago when I played the OG, but I remember it being stated that the slums were pretty much complete devoid of any sunlight, and therefore underneath the plates was always dark. In the Remake it seemed was too fricking bright but maybe it was a design choice and they thought people wouldn't want to spend an entire game withing sunlight. I just thought it was a really effective way to get across just how miserable it must have been to live without any and all sunlight.
i dont think thats something u just mod out bro, the ghosts are 99% of the game
yes but it just makes them entirely invisible.
still much better with time jannies being an unknown, unseen "force of nature" rather than the literal cartoon ghosts square enix gave us
memes aside Yuffie even points out "Ghosts run this b***h" in abridged,
but the time ghosts in remake still feel like a slap in the face compared to aeris(th) unironically hearing the voices of the dead.
I just bought this on steam, haven't played it since I was twelve. How do I recruit Yuffie again? I remember something about letting her steal from you I think. Also whats the recommended level for Shinra HQ in the beginning?
Yuffie is a random encounter in the forests near fort condor or gongaga
Recommended level for midgar is... whatever you're at. Just make sure you're using lightning on robots and you'll be fine. I usually like to level the limit breaks early with hypers though
when you reach Junon go to the forest near the river with the cave instead, you have a "rare" encounter chance with Yuffie, win, then do the dialogue stuff which is very very specific (do not open menu, do not save, do not appear genuinely interested in her proposition and she will "tag along") you can retry if she runs off.
[...]
And letting her steal your materia is an event later in the game after you've recruited her. You go to the continent of wutai and she steals it along the way

oh and level doesn't matter until around Dyne. where barret will get his shit pushed in if he is not tanky enough.
some people even do low level runs so there are ways around this.
The way crt monitors displayed those old graphics made them look 1000x better, they were designed for crt and look dogshit on modern displays. Best example I've seen of this is legend of dragoon. The models look atrocious without the crt filters and look amazing with them
2015 trailer Cloud is way better than the fujoshi bait "blonde Lightning" Cloud we got in the final game
looks sickly and more like his original design
I cannot argue with that. He actually looks like he's suffering from an illness too like you would expect him too. But you know Nomura likes his happy cheery bullshit.
Gen5 stayed within its graphical means as did most of Gen6. Gen6 and beyond everything wanted to push realism to the point you get Oblivion face and Bioware stares.
>Most never played it and just parrot memes, like everything else
true, I fell for that with dark souls 2 myself, never again.
however I own DoC on disc and I think its ok, and my friend who played ff7 back when too thought dirge was cool.
I cant play this without using the 3x speed thing. I played it when I was younger on PS1 just fine but I replayed it on PS4 in 2020 and had to use 3x speed or I lost interest immediately.
Why isn't Aerith on Chadley's VR system? Why does he make a point of mentioning this? Is she a dopplgangar from another dimension or something? I think there's something to this
They fit in all of these new assets but couldn't even bother to get even the lighting right. Gotta get the game shoved out to the public asap, nope, you cannot be bothered to spend an extra thirty minutes to fix the lighting.
Unable to confess, he is gifted by a deus ex machina (Jenova) with the Ex-SOLDIER's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls him, and is overjoyed to find out that he has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when Sephiroth recounts the previous day's confessions to Cloud, he only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the Cloud he called is not the same Cloud he fell in love with. In fact, he doesn't exist in this universe at all. He is Cloud's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the Sephiroth's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of his crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

such androgyny wow
That emotion is coming from Zack, not Cloud. In the flashback scene it was actually Zack the entire time. Cloud just had his memories and injected himself in it. They are showing Cloud with Zack's emotion because they are foreshadowing that Cloud will rediscover the truth of his past.
he holds his sword behind him like a (giant) sheathed katana normally, seen in the kalm flashback, or has the blade tip facing the opponent (final battle / advent children / remake)
>cloud sees kid >sudden head spike >remembers the time when he was a kid >sephiroth whispers something vague in his ear >everything back to normal
Hate this shit
Nomura does it again. Weird to see Cloud show so much emotion, especially for a dude and not Tifa who has been throwing herself at him.
Sephiroth falls in love with Cloud.

Technically that was the Old Jenova that died and corrupted the Life Stream, but still, having *Sephiroth as the final final boss and not just Old Jenova as the "Destiny Spaghetti Monster" was rather annoying.
Nomura's biggest mistake is giving Sephiroth too much exposure.
Not exactly "crazy" jumps. They are more or less on a similar level as the OG considering the OG's field models were usually off-scale. He jumps like 5m at most, while in the ending parts within the alternate space all party members suddenly started jumping hundreds of meters at times.
Do you think? I remember in Remake, when he jumps over a bunch of falling reactor parts, for me it felt too chuunibyou, something nonsense just to look cool, but I guess I should replay the OG and maybe they always had such an intention but it wans't clear in it.

You dance with some flamboyant dancer, but no flood of muscle dudes. No "Bubby" in Remake. But who knows, we might see him in Rebirth, Nomura is a gay himself, so I doubt he'll forget about 'im.
it wasn't. you do a dance minigame and then cloud crossdresses.
it was ok, but sector 6 is one of the worst done parts comparing the two. offset by some new content like madam lewd hand massage and the EXTRA gym minigames (with Tifa) and a colosseum
these models were clearly made for the top down phases of gameplay
I guess they were also easier to animate for the cutscenes than the ones with more realistic proportions (pic), but they do look silly especially at that kind of angle
Looks better than the new one. Anime shit becomes inherently cringe when it tries to imitate reality too much. You need that disconnect of the characters looking like a bunch of, well characters, in a video game.
I don't want to play as a gay male model with an overly sculpted haircut, and autism. I want to play as a silly little lego man with Popeye arms.
What FF needed to do past a certain point was embrace stylisation, instead of going hard into cosplaycore.
New FF games should basically look like this.
>Gives you an unforgettable cast all of whom are deep and interesting with cool designs >forces you to play as the only character whose bland and boring 99% of the game
>"I have also had experiences where a game that I loved and had a lot of fun with in the past was remade, and I bought it and played it out of the overwhelming nostalgia. It is enjoyable for a while, but the fun from that nostalgia only really lasts through the first sections. I realised this halfway through and didn't carry on playing.
This is how I've felt doing a recent playthrough of OG FF7. I don't think worse of OG FF7 cause it's not as fun as it used to be. It's just not as exciting as it was when it released, since 25 years ago, not only were the visuals and presentation mind-blowing, but the gameplay was incredible as well. It's just not as interesting to play today. That said, the Remake isn't better imo. While the changes it made has gotten my interest and I want to play Rebirth to see where that goes, I doubt Rebirth or Part 3 would end up matching OG FF7's greatness when it released in 1997.

Take the time to replay the og and talk to the people. It isnt.
IRL shitholes are full of happy people, they are still shitholes with lots of suffering. It's odd to depict a slum as devoid of suffering or dilapidation.
It shows you how out of touch Nomura and the rest of the team have become. They really think slums in the real world are wholesome places to live in.
>They really think slums in the real world are wholesome places to live in.
Midgar is less like "slums" and more like a trailer park, which are full of content people making the best of it.
It's not devoid of it. It's just full of people trying to live in peace.
Yeah that kid that wanted to becomes a salesman definitely was miserable
Young children are ignorant and naïve at times, so yes, I expect them to be rather chipper in comparison to the adults. If you actually cared for kids you'd know that.
Still waiting for those drug addicts bro
"It's lacking one element, therefore you're wrong."
Moron.
remake is honestly so fricking bad compared to the original in pretty much every respect besides graphical fidelity
you don't really accept it right away when you first play the game because you're still hyped up over finally playing what you think is going to be a remake of OG ff7 but by the end you realize outside of some cool moments and a fun battle system the whole game is dogshit cringe
I'm so glad I never feel for this slop
Sucks for you. You missed on a great game.
nah I played the original
The og is also a great game. OP is a moron.
see
A lot of RPGs do this now and it gets nauseating how happy and optimisitc EVERYONE is all the time in every situation. There needs to be cynical douchebags and buttholes to balance it out.
>here needs to be cynical douchebags and buttholes to balance it out.
Vincent and Cid!
You know Cid will be nowhere near as grumpy and masculine as he was in the OG. Aggressive White men are problematic.
Crisis Core is so fricking good
crisis core is dogshit and I'm tired of pretending it's not
"genesis rhapsodos" is the most cringe name they could've possibly came up with for a villian
the only thing that made every palatable was the god-tier voice actor for zack and when they recasted him for remake/reunion it made me realize just how godawful the story is playing through it again
the entire tone in remake was completely all wrong
not to mention the script was terribly localized AGAIN where certain scenes don't even make sense in english like they do in japanese because the characters are talking nonsense to each other and sometimes even change who they're supposed to be talking to
>Barret in English: "Hey butthole!" (shouting at Sephiroth)
>Aertih in English: "Don't!" (mad that he's yelling at Sephiroth????)
>Barret in Japanese: "Hey, it's that guy from before!" (clearly talking to the party when seeing Sephiroth)
>Aerith in Japanese: "No, he's different." (replying with information important for understanding what is going on in the story)
Why are localizers so dumb?
あ、あんですって~!?
If they were smart they would be in corporate translation
Where does it say in any lore material that Reeve got more funding than Heidegger and Scarlet?
The difference between your claim and my claim is that mine is based on actual content in the games, while yours is literally just affirming a subjective imagine you've built of SE as a company over the years.
It's literally a parallel world and we saw discrepancies between them and the "consequences" of those discrepancies as well.
Have pc troons modded out the time ghosts and other added stuff?
i dont think thats something u just mod out bro, the ghosts are 99% of the game
>how long until modders conpletely remake FF7 Rebirth?
yes but it just makes them entirely invisible.
still much better with time jannies being an unknown, unseen "force of nature" rather than the literal cartoon ghosts square enix gave us
memes aside Yuffie even points out "Ghosts run this b***h" in abridged,
but the time ghosts in remake still feel like a slap in the face compared to aeris(th) unironically hearing the voices of the dead.
PS1>N64
FF7>Zelda
moron.
looks better than the remake dog shit
Sure it does
who hurt you
squenix when they decided to rape everyone's pockets and make ff7 into 8 games. greedy frickers. also they reduced tifas breasts.
Thanks anons.
when you reach Junon go to the forest near the river with the cave instead, you have a "rare" encounter chance with Yuffie, win, then do the dialogue stuff which is very very specific (do not open menu, do not save, do not appear genuinely interested in her proposition and she will "tag along") you can retry if she runs off.
And letting her steal your materia is an event later in the game after you've recruited her. You go to the continent of wutai and she steals it along the way
oh and level doesn't matter until around Dyne. where barret will get his shit pushed in if he is not tanky enough.
some people even do low level runs so there are ways around this.
Steal right arms at the big bridge
That's not the original, but good try newbie.
Yeah.
A lot of 3D games of the PSX/N64 era didn't age particularly well.
It's why people wanted remakes.
Then explain why HD re-releases of the original sold better than the remake
is Tifa the one that popularized the "virgin bawd" archetype?
Watch your tone when talking about my wife
Our wife.
The way crt monitors displayed those old graphics made them look 1000x better, they were designed for crt and look dogshit on modern displays. Best example I've seen of this is legend of dragoon. The models look atrocious without the crt filters and look amazing with them
>Best example I've seen of this is legend of dragoon. The models look atrocious without the crt filters and look amazing with them
Post comparison
>SOVL vs soulless
incel gohan ripoff vs chad
2015 trailer Cloud is way better than the fujoshi bait "blonde Lightning" Cloud we got in the final game
looks sickly and more like his original design
I cannot argue with that. He actually looks like he's suffering from an illness too like you would expect him too. But you know Nomura likes his happy cheery bullshit.
Correct
Gen5 stayed within its graphical means as did most of Gen6. Gen6 and beyond everything wanted to push realism to the point you get Oblivion face and Bioware stares.
what is the most cucked thing in FF7?
Obviously Vincent
Vincent. Poor lad.
It's Vincent.
The dude is in an actual cuck coffin
The man himself
I hope DoC gets a remaster like CC did.
Game was underrated
most of the internet hates it
they're wrong but
Most never played it and just parrot memes, like everything else
If it was re-released with updated TPS controls it would be a hit
>Most never played it and just parrot memes, like everything else
true, I fell for that with dark souls 2 myself, never again.
however I own DoC on disc and I think its ok, and my friend who played ff7 back when too thought dirge was cool.
Do the random encounters ever become less annoying?
There are no random encounters, just areas where mobs respawn so you can fight them again if you want to grind out AP and EXP.
I think there's something to this
I dont recall this interaction
It's in sector 5 and chadley is perplexed as to why aerith isn't in the system, like she's supposed to be there
This never happens...
I literally just played it. It definitely does
Likely because she's a hidden away Centra
why is FF7 never 50% off?
Sold like 3 million copies in the last 6 years, it still sells decently despite being over 2 decades old
Kyrie is going to milk Cloud to death and then let him drink her milk in return while he calls her his mommy
she deserved way more blender porn
SOVL
Here's your remake bro.
They fit in all of these new assets but couldn't even bother to get even the lighting right. Gotta get the game shoved out to the public asap, nope, you cannot be bothered to spend an extra thirty minutes to fix the lighting.
I will defend FF7R in almost any capacity but this was completely unforgivable
just play the original with seventh heaven bro
that's not even the original. what a dumb homosexual.
You're right, it's a Saturday morning cartoon sequel.
>Playing games for graphics instead of having fun
Go back, homosexual.
I played ff7 for the first time like two years before the remaster was announced. i still think the old version has better art style.
Soul
I never got why they made the hands like that. It's not like PS1s polygon budget was THAT low, right?
it was a launch ps1 title. was still relatively new stuff at the time so it was crude compared to later games
I tolerated it and still do because it reminds me of the chibi pixel style in the older games. The jank grows on you fairly quickly.
It's just the art style
I'm so glad I'm not such a braindead moron that I'll refuse to play a game because it has "outdated graphics"
The only thing that sucks about this game is how difficult and frustrating it is to breed the colored chocobos.
>difficult and frustrating
Its mostly patience and RNG but that does sound like it would be a difficulty thing for ADHD zoom zooms.
Zoomers would definitely struggle at it because that would require backtracking and reading, even with online guides.
To the Zoomer, the Chocobo Breeding side quest is virtually impossible to complete.
There's still no excuse for ff7 looking as bad as it does when games like Xenogears exist
Xenogears has 2D sprites. You are better off comparing 7 to the other FF games on the same console, idiot.
FF7 looks the way it does because they wanted to reduce loading times as much as possible.
Can't wait for more Yaoi doujins. Thanks SE
Nomura does it again. Weird to see Cloud show so much emotion, especially for a dude and not Tifa who has been throwing herself at him.
Nomura is definitely a closeted homosexual in some capacity.
>elderly japanese man obsessed with fashion and belts is closeted homosexual
you don't say
Well, he did have a goth phase, so, yeah, I shouldn't be surprised.
>underaged social media tourists discover the fact that the majority of Japanese fashions, character designs, and aesthetics were always androgynous and feminine in nature since the 80s
>underaged social media tourists discover what visual kei fashion is
>redditor reads a wiki and thinks he's an expert
you mean androgynous since the late 90s, and all of your examples are from the 2000s btw
visual kei was punk and metal in the 80s you homosexual
>redditor reads a wiki and thinks he's an expert
Yeah that perfectly describes (You). Visual Kei was feminine and androgynous as hell in the 80s. So were American fashions in the music industry. This shit is ancient
>posts 1 american glam-rock band and a pic of axl from 1989 as an example of japanese androgyny
congrats on actually including 1 x japan pic from the 80s (on the right, and you'll notice it's far more punk influenced than them in the early 90s on the left).
pic related is final fantasy in the 80s
such androgyny wow
How does that disprove Nomura is a homosexual again?
Do you rike your new Sephiroth war-hero skin??
Prease enjoy.
That emotion is coming from Zack, not Cloud. In the flashback scene it was actually Zack the entire time. Cloud just had his memories and injected himself in it. They are showing Cloud with Zack's emotion because they are foreshadowing that Cloud will rediscover the truth of his past.
Only time, I can recall, seeing Sephiroth hold the sword back handed like that is in Smash. Does he do it any other time?
He does in his victory pose in the original game. Maybe he does it in crisis core as well idk.
he holds his sword behind him like a (giant) sheathed katana normally, seen in the kalm flashback, or has the blade tip facing the opponent (final battle / advent children / remake)
he is also left handed.
>cloud sees kid
>sudden head spike
>remembers the time when he was a kid
>sephiroth whispers something vague in his ear
>everything back to normal
Hate this shit
But that doesnt happen, he rememberes tifa
Sephiroth falls in love with Cloud.
While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.
whats wrong with it huh
diversify your life
play some indies to broaden your taste and then come back to enjoy older titles as well
why are you being moronic thats PC port
original PS1 version looks great
Just mod it bro.
So...powerful...
>He didn't finish the game with the Buster Sword.
Disgusting.
GOD.
Technically that was the Old Jenova that died and corrupted the Life Stream, but still, having *Sephiroth as the final final boss and not just Old Jenova as the "Destiny Spaghetti Monster" was rather annoying.
Nomura's biggest mistake is giving Sephiroth too much exposure.
how did cloud teleport
Mako magic.
thats OG seph from the original game and Cloud has all of his power in that cutscene because reasons.
He's a soldier first class.
Long Range Materia
Wow it's just as amazing as I remember.
Wait... Squall's gunblade looks weird.
Ugh I hate those cinematic acrobatics but in real gameplay you can barely walk on ledges , so dissonant
I think the idea is that the party temporarily gains their endgame (of OG) stats and abilities which get lost after it all is said and done.
yeah but he does those crazy jumps even in the first reactor missions
Not exactly "crazy" jumps. They are more or less on a similar level as the OG considering the OG's field models were usually off-scale. He jumps like 5m at most, while in the ending parts within the alternate space all party members suddenly started jumping hundreds of meters at times.
Do you think? I remember in Remake, when he jumps over a bunch of falling reactor parts, for me it felt too chuunibyou, something nonsense just to look cool, but I guess I should replay the OG and maybe they always had such an intention but it wans't clear in it.
>The original: Great iconic anime-style cyberpunk feeling
>The remake: Soulless generic "realistic" scifi feeling
I was never FF7 fan (and FF fan generally) but at least I can acknowledge how great looking is the original even today
Western Corporate slop culture poisons everything.
you had to be there.`
You get used to it after a few minutes, but yeah it's always jarring when you start a new game.
I laugh at zoomers not being able to play 90s games because of "muh graphics"
To be fair though, if you put me in front of an NES and made me play the shit James Rolfe used to play I'd get frustrated too likely.
>To be fair though, if you put me in front of an NES and made me play the shit James Rolfe used to play I'd get frustrated too likely.
99% of the NES/atari catalog was pure shit, even for its time. Believe me, i was there.
Stuff didnt start aging well until the SNES-era
.
But Ghostbusters is legitimate shit regardless of visuals. FF7 is not.
There like MAYBE 20 actually good NES games, he was sitting on a gold mine of absolute shit.
>he doesn’t enjoy NES games
I enjoy the good ones just fine, I'm also not a nostalgia goggles gay so I can see the mountain of crap that was also on the console.
Anyone playing Ever Crisis?
I stopped when the PC version got announced, frick mobile gaming.
That’s because you’re not playing at it’s intended resolution
So...powerful...
?si=aUD7B1cyDjTuv-ak&t=25
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO T_T
I brought Vincent with me as apart of the main three in my OG playthrough. I needed to help him get back at Hojo and Sephiroth. Felt wrong not to. Plus, Cloud, Vincent and Yuffie are a fun trio.
You don't like my copy pasted moe blob Tifa face Vince kun???? :33333 Too bad because I'm her mother sweetie! Hehehe ^^! Braian just had that mature businessman charm about him... I just couldn't contain myself when I was on another research trip (¬‿¬) It wasn't the first (or last) time I assure (You) (◕‿◕). You can feel like a double cuck now but I assure you that it just means that you wanted to date a more experienced woman than you initially expected (°,,°). It means that you always had great taste when it came to girls like me 。◕‿‿◕。. It also proves that you cared and loved me three times more! ‿ Please take care of my precious daughter and teach my son a lesson along the way (~_^) I love you Vince Kun! (ღ˘˘ღ) You are my third favorite boyfriend I've ever had! Don't remember that! 。゜(`Д´)゜。
I'm so sorry
I want to hug him too...
So Sephiroth was uber powerful as a kiddo? This is some premium trash. I guess I'll watch the cutscenes at least, I need a laugh.
looks good to me
steal from this "boss" for a bonus Aeris(th) weapon (accurate in remake aswell)
>encounter a new enemy
>try and steal for as long as it take for anything to drop even if it's just a potion
I was an autistic kid but i also got sick weapons several towns away.
How is Vincent not Sephiroth's father when they look so similar? Sephiroth looks nothing like Hojo.
How was this scene handled?
I don't even remember it happening, I think it was just the DDR mini game and you leave.
What the frick were they thinking. What is up with those arms?
they were thinking we just invented the CD and we have no idea how to do 3d models but we'll try.
The character models are bad, but the game's overflowing with charm. Just gotta not be a graphics prostitute.
these models were clearly made for the top down phases of gameplay
I guess they were also easier to animate for the cutscenes than the ones with more realistic proportions (pic), but they do look silly especially at that kind of angle
It doesn't look like that though
is it true that when you die you go to balamb garden?
only if you take Selphies.
The same people that post Squall's face as a meme post cow arms Cloud's and call it a masterpiss. Get fricked, you played a beta for the real FF, 8.
I MISS IT BRING IT BACK!!
The fact that EC got a PC port and this didn't is a crime.
Yeah, I'd rather play that than the sub-MMO graphics remake.
FF7 would be a 10/10 game if it wasn't turn based.
It's not, it's active time.
>Gives you an unforgettable cast all of whom are deep and interesting with cool designs
>forces you to play as the only character whose bland and boring 99% of the game
Let me play with Red XIII, Tifa and Barret.
why did they make tifa some shitty sad vibe boring asian girl? wtf man
The original is the only playable version honestly.
>just play the original, bro it doesn't look that bad
[Citation needed]
>"I have also had experiences where a game that I loved and had a lot of fun with in the past was remade, and I bought it and played it out of the overwhelming nostalgia. It is enjoyable for a while, but the fun from that nostalgia only really lasts through the first sections. I realised this halfway through and didn't carry on playing.
https://www.eurogamer.net/final-fantasy-7-remake-producer-says-story-changes-were-necessary-to-keep-peoples-interest
