Just played this for the first time because of the advance collection and why the frick do Black folk call this bad/not as good as the others?
>insanely good magic system with the cards
>gameplay and level design feel like a mix between classic castlevania and what SoTN was doing
>actual challenging enemies and bosses
>kino battle arena challenge to get the best cards in the game
>nice OST
did this game seriously just filter people with its difficulty or some shit?

>Have to look up a guide to know what enemies drop the cards
>Double tap to run sucks after the first hour
>Bosses don't really have that much variation in their attacks (Not that SoTN did either.)
>Some of the powers you find are just keys
>Really dark on an original GBA
It's a fine game, and probably my favorite on the GBA but I can still see its flaws and why people probably dislike it.
>>Have to look up a guide to know what enemies drop the cards
this could have been annoying but they added a thing to the advance collection that tells you if an enemy has a card drop so I didn't notice
>>Double tap to run sucks after the first hour
I would say only until you get the speed buff card combo then it becomes fine either way fair
>>Bosses don't really have that much variation in their attacks
the bosses in this game have more variation than pretty much all the classicvanias ive played
>>Some of the powers you find are just keys
while lame the card system as a whole makes up for this imo
I mean this game definitely has some bad spots mostly I find in the repetitive level design and some areas and the underground waterway as a whole, but people saying this is a game to skip in the franchise is just wrong as its still an pretty solid experience altogether
Iga didn't work on it and retconned it for a few years, so people assumed it was bad. At worst you could argue it had minor flaws. It's an excellent game.
People hate on Circle of the Moon?
I can understand not liking
>rng card drops
>double tap run
but aside from that I had a lot of fun with it back in the day.
Isn't there a rom hack that places the cards in the castle for you to find, instead of being random drops? Might be worth checking out sometime.
Oh yeah that hack is pretty good. It replaces some of the random HP/MP ups with them. You still have to work finding the secrets for them, but it's way more fun than grinding.
come back to hades gay
Double tap to run single handledly ruins the entire game
It's also very fricking ugly
>Double tap to run single handledly ruins the entire game

harmony of dissonance sacrificed audio quality for higher resolution and better detailed visuals, a fricked up exchange but still compare both and it's like night and day
And finally aria of sorrow managed to have slightly lower quality visuals without sacrificing audio
And now we compare back to cotm.
For some reason cotm just uses this greenish/gray/gold color palette EVERYWHERE.
To this, you add the card stuff plus the horrible run controls and there's a fair sized list of negatives.
It's not bad by any means, but it's not stellar either.
This is about VISUAL QUALITY, HOD and aria objectively have much higher visual quality regardless of what you're playing it on.
Playing it on a gameboy won't change the entire color palette nor add ten times the detail.
>This is about VISUAL QUALITY
Yeah, and CotM is only ugly when emulated. It's less impressive than HoD or AoS, but it looks good on an actual GBA.
It looks ok at best anon get fricking real
>Playing it on a gameboy won't change the entire color palette
But that's exactly what the GBA does for games. Shit, if your lighting is too strong in Harmony the light browns turn pink.
>Playing on an emulator
Every GBA game with any form of shading whatsoever looks better on an actual GBA screen.
too bad every version of the GBA is dogshit unless you wanna buy a modded backlit one on ebay or whatever Black person site you can find them on.
The SP's good enough. The ideal backlight would be slightly less strong, but it's about right.
SP is good when you are 8 but anything older than that and your hands will cry after a couple hours of playing
Stop choking your SP like a whole in a back alley, you jackass. I'm a big guy with big hands and even I can handle it fine.
its a 3 inch square bro its not made for adults
>"I am too clumsy to hold it properly, this is the hardwares fault."
Fatass.
Black person im a fricking underweight manlet stop coping, nintendo is paying you to defend their shitty budget handheld they made to cash in at the end of the GBA life.
isn't paying you*
I don't like the SP either.
I'm just coming at you as a 6'3" man to say no, you can hold it just fine.

Circle of the Moon was fantastic. It was simply overshadowed completely due to Aria.
I don't give a frick what you Black folk say HoD is a good game
It's the worst Castlevania game on the GBA.
Lucky for you, that still means it's a 9/10.
The composition on HoD soundtrack might be the best in any castlevania game.
Such a shame konami went full moron
I love the look of the game, the card system, and the music. The bosses and monsters have amazing designs. There should've been an auto-run or even just a power-up that makes you run automatically but it doesn't bother me as much as it does some.
