level 1 you need to have $1M cash to leave
level 2 is $3M and 3 is $5M. You can do a few jobs to increase your multiplier and speedrun the level with a tank rampage if you want, You can do all 21+1 jobs but its not required, or you can try to collect all 50 GTA tokens to unlock bonus levels
for a real challenge you can also try to do all the kill frenzies but some of them are notorious for being nearly impossible to complete, especially in the PC version
No, complete missions just like in any other GTA. You can either stop when you have enough money to finish the chapter, or just beat them all for fun. The latter option makes more sense, since unlike the first game you can replay failed missions and save, so you don't risk losing your progress if you don't finish asap.
But seriously, why this thing is so fricking dead? Other games from that period or even much older are still remembered and loved, but no one gives a shit about GTA 2. It is so good, why people pretend it doesn't exist?
probably because the first game was recognized as the start of the GTA franchise and people probably think of two as an expansion pack. That or maybe two didn’t sell? Or maybe it got overshadowed by the 3D era games.
Few people played it. I knew people who played GTA1 and had no clue there even was a GTA2. When GTA3 was announced I remember some people asking why there was no GTA2.
GTA 3 was 3D so it got all the attention, GTA1 was freeware so it got all the poorgays. GTA 2 was neither so it got lost to time.
No shits are given about GTA 1 today as well. Can't imagine RE fans disregarding original 1-3 even though they all got remakes - people still play the old games, make mods, texture overhauls and such. If Zelda ALttP was a big deal at the time, LA, Oracles and Minish Cap were just portable games, yet people still love and play them. GTA, according to everyone, starts with III. I don't know, maybe it has something to do with the audience who mostly play GTA for the violence and messing around in open world, thus bigger map and more weapons = better game for them.
I kinda understand why people don't want to return to GTA 1 that much - it is fun, but might be clunky at times. GTA 2 is much more refined tho - it both looks and plays better, and probably the most unique title in the entire franchise, aesthetically and gameplay-wise.

I had the demo for GTA2 for years, it gave you five minutes to play then you explode, just enough time to rampage around and get surrounded by cops. Kafrickingboom!
GTA 1 would run on my shitty computer, but GTA 2 would not. I think it required twice the amount of RAM, while kinda looking the same except for better shadows and lighting. Maybe that played into it.
OK, looked it up. Yes, GTA1 required 16MB RAM and only 75mhz CPU while GTA 2 required 32MB Ram and 200mhz CPU. In Eastern Europe, especially for poor people, that was a major problem.
yakuza in the 1st (teriyaki-chan marry me!!)
rednecks in 2nd (marshall nash is a cool guy, cool base but awful car)
ruskies in 3rd (zaibatsu is also fine in this level, but the ruskie parody is spot on)
>Krishnas
Are those the psychopaths that commit
religiously motivated crimes? I never thought about joining that gang. I stole their cars a couple of times and the radio was always talking some crazy shit about murdering on behalf of Jesus & God’s wrath. wtf.
it was weird how their radio had a couple of (good) christians songs talking about jesus, krishnas are supposed to be hinduist or whatever. i guess they went for a too dumb to be true kind of cult. not like you cant find this kind of crazy stuff in real life.
Any ever used to collect all the "perma-cars" from the map and make a mini base? They only were found on the PC version but you could force certain mission cars to be permanent on PS1 by failing
it took me 20 years to realise i received the GTA2 disc in the GTA1 box and it was the boxart being posted online one day for me to find out. manual inside and disc were GTA2, dude straight up put the game in the wrong case when i was 7 and i didnt bat an eye for over two decades.
to think i almost asked for frickin Digimon Rumble Arena instead
Yeah, wtf is up with that? >devs realize they still have an extra button feature to fill in >can’t think of anything >”lol just make him fart bro”
Frickin’ Rockstar.
>2023
>still no gta2 total vehicle conversion
I actually want Rockstar to revisit the gloomy atmosphere in GTA2 and early 2000's Rockstar goofyness.
>Rockstar
won't happen. maybe some indie group will try something, but Rockstar the company has grown too big to produce anything with soul
I love the 2D GTAs (especially 2), but I have no fricking idea on what to do. Is the objective just to cause as much chaos as possible?

Do missions, acquire currency and respect.

2 sold plenty, the ps1 version even has a greatest hits version
I think the "gta2" naming convention caused some kind of brain amnesia so people don't even remember it as actually being "grand theft auto 2"
GTA had an actual expansion pack.
>MISSHUN FAYLD
DIS IS BUSH SAAAAAAAAAAHNDS

GTA2 was available for free a long time ago on freeloader

let hidden gems remain hidden

The shock value of GTA1 had waned by the time 2 released and 3 completely overshadowed it with its fully 3D world.
ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING
Killing all of them at once is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever tried to fricking do in my life. I’ve never done it.
GIMMIE YOUR WALLET !
I SAID FREEZE butthole
THE CAR WAS GONE
STOLEN
FIFTH TIME THIS MONTH
HE'S GOT A GUN
>Hey Jumbo, it's Elmo
Favorite 2 gang? For me it's the Loonies
Yakuza
THIS
I know it's vanilla as frick, but these guys.
Rednecks, comfiest base by far (though zaibatsu in the same region is also great)
yakuza in the 1st (teriyaki-chan marry me!!)
rednecks in 2nd (marshall nash is a cool guy, cool base but awful car)
ruskies in 3rd (zaibatsu is also fine in this level, but the ruskie parody is spot on)
TERIYAKI TASTE LIKE SAKI
Hare Krishnas were based

I think I spent most of my time messing around for Rednecks.
Rockstar are cowards for not making a new GTA set in that GTA 2 future.
Any ever used to collect all the "perma-cars" from the map and make a mini base? They only were found on the PC version but you could force certain mission cars to be permanent on PS1 by failing
noooo donation nooo salvation
I had GTA1 on PC and GBC.
What an odd juxtaposition.

The Dreamcast port is better than the PS1 port.
*farts*
Yeah, wtf is up with that?
>devs realize they still have an extra button feature to fill in
>can’t think of anything
>”lol just make him fart bro”
Frickin’ Rockstar.
don't forget, it's a fart AND burp button. and i'll tell you right now, if gta6 has a feature like that, i'm buying it no matter how high the price
Dedicated Lucia belch and brap button
I would seriously pay $100 for the game
>>UH-HUH-HUHH
>>Slam baby
>>A hunka hunka burnin’ love
>>Step on
I told you he was alive
I remember GTA2 ran like shit on hardware of that time, while not being substantially better than the first.
you can run on it on a toaster, back then as today. i'm afraid you're just full of shit.
frickin loved the vibe they created for this game. masterful
