it's about the complete lack of weight or intention to anything. A giant fricking troll with a club slides around, has no weight to any of its attacks, and just has a giant HP pool that you slowly chip away at.

Have you played Jedi Knight? I'll agree its the best lightsaber combat ever made, but it just devolves into flailing and force power abuse. It's good for what it is, but it's not that good.
By kh2 did you mean kingdom hearts two? Because its definitely better than that.
The sheer amount of options KH2 gives you puts Jedi Knight to shame. Drive Forms, Limits, Magic, Summons, and Melee are all well considered and give you a wealth of options to pick in any scenario.
The combat itself is mediocre though. Being able to go in to a meny and choose fireball doesnt change that. If we're disregarding mechanics for options then you might as well say that elder scrolls has great combat.
You can shortcut all the spells. Please play the game in the higher difficulties, the combat really shines when it's expected a competent person is playing the game. It's simpler than a lot of other action games, but it makes up for that with the amount of options and split-second decision making that's needed to succeed.
Sorry bro elder scrolls has it beat in options therefore elder scrolls has better combat. You can also shortcut spells in elder scrolls
Please go back and play the game on the higher difficulties. Just because you can hit one button to melee your way through normal mode does not mean the combat is bad. If you use actually take advantage if all the options afforded to you it's something special and the speed at which you can swap between them it's great. Popping an enemy in the air and floating them with the fire special only to suck them back in to continue a combo is great.
