Noo fricking way, are you seriously doubting Ansem? You know this Black person actually SAW kingdom hearts like, ages ago as Xehanort? There is no conceiveable way he would be wrong.
Yes, actually, theres the Kingdom Hearts of the hearts of the people, the fake Kingdom Hearts Xemnas came up with in 2 and the Kingdom Heats of the worlds.
A fake Kingdom Hearts made with the hearts of the worlds.
The one in KH2 is another fake one made with the hearts of people.
And finally the one in KH3 is the real one summoned with the X blade
What would've happened if ANSEM beat Sora, doesn't Ansem try to access Kingdom Hearts and die to light anyway? Or would he have tanked that if Sora hadn't softened him up?
>What would've happened if ANSEM beat Sora, doesn't Ansem try to access Kingdom Hearts and die to light anyway?
Probably he could have tanked it, the light killed him because he was already weak
No, because that wouldn't actually remove Darkness. We know it can always propagate itself just by re-emerging from people's hearts and I wouldn't be surprised if the MoM's insane keikaku with the Foretellers (who have several of the Darknesses inside of them) didn't account for the possibility of Xehanort winning. Resetting the multiverse is just a delaying action because Darkness is a constant in the KH cosmology.
Anon was wrong anyway. Xehanort didn't want to eliminate darkness. He wanted to create a universe with darkness and light in equal measure.

>He wanted to create a universe with darkness and light in equal measure.
He tells us his goals all but completely in KH 3 and it's basically "Darkness is bad so I'll remake the multiverse into one where it isn't the overwhelming majority of existence".

>A purge... The World will be returned whence it started. The World began in darkness. And from that darkness came light. From the light came the people, and the people had hearts. Evil burgeoned in those hearts, begetting more darkness. And that darkness spread across the World like a plague. The light, the symbol of the World's hope, was devoured by shadow. Leaving nothing but ruin... An utter failure. But, the first light—the light of Kingdom Hearts—it can give us a new start. An empty World, pure and bright... >The World needs someone to stand up and lead. Someone strong, to stop the weak from polluting the World with their endless darkness. He did, basically he wanted to be some sort of Thanos, also Xehanort plan is the same one the Master of Masters has except he will use other methods
I don't know why light showed up just because sora said it. It was obviouslly a door to a bunch of heartless, should have did a final limit break on ansem instead.
Everyone in this series goes on and on about light and darkness but Billy Zane as Ansem gave so much gravitas to it that no one else could match. Though Leonard Nimoy's Xehanort came close.
>Think Billy zane's to big to play him again in the sequel. >Turns out he would have done it, they just didn't ask.
You really do miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take.
At least his equally good japanese version (Akio Otsuka) voiced him in every game in the series in japanese and even voiced Master Xehanort after his father (Chikao Otsuka), who was his previous voice, died and did it perfectly.
do they even mention kingdom hearts before this?
I remember one confusing line of text (not voice acted) that pops up when you interact with an optional object in the last world.
we learn from Jafar that they collect the princesses to "open the door" >You see, [Jasmie]’s a princess—one of seven who somehow hold the key to opening the door. But you fools won’t live to see what lies beyond it.
after the events of Monstro Maleficent tells Riku about the door and the heart of all worlds, but doesn't use the term Kingdom Hearts yet >There are seven maidens of the purest heart. We call them the princesses of heart. Gather them together, and a door will open to the heart of all worlds. Within lies untold wisdom. There, you will surely find a way to recover Kairi’s heart.
then the final world uses the name when you're interacting with Ansem's old research-room >All hearts to be one, one heart to encompass all. Realize the destiny: the realm of Kingdom Hearts. The great darkness sealed within the great heart. Progeny of darkness, come back to the eternal darkness. For the heart of light shall unseal the path. Seven hearts, one Keyhole, one key to the door. The door of darkness, tied by two keys. The door of darkness to seal the light. None shall pass but shadows, returning to the darkness. Ones born of the heart and darkness, hunger for every heart until the dark door opens.
and then we get the Ansem cutscene >Behold the endless abyss! Within it lies the heart of all worlds: Kingdom Hearts! Look as hard as you are able. You’ll not find even the smallest glimmer of light. From those dark depths are all hearts born. Even yours.
>playing through 1FM for the first time on Proud >combat makes me want to kms >already using shorthops for easier parries and faster combos >the entirety of Monstro
i am convinced this game is completely held up by nostalgia, not a single thing is better in here than in 2
worst part is that i want to 100% it and never touch it again, but all the supposed "op ez mode" things are locked behind the lategame and so far its just been a slog
might just look up where to find stop an start spamming gravity on mob battles
KH1 was originally going to have more depth. They wanted to add a physics system that allows you to knock enemies to other enemies. KH1 was going to be one of those games where the combat is simple but has a lot of interactivity to make up for the simplistic combat.
>What's stopping them from doing it in 4?
Nothing, but it wouldn't fit KH's new high-action pack combo-heavy gameplay unless they dial combo-heavy gameplay back to KH1 style of gameplay.
>make a build
with what?
i picked the staff and ditched the sword, i don't exactly have options to any "builds" yet, i'm locked into like 2 items that increase MP and/or magic.
go do some synthing, in order to unlock more synth recipes you need to synth one of most items
the second page of synth has magic armlets that give +1MP and have decently easy-to-get materials
there's also golem chains that give +3str and have similarly easy materials, if you'd rather do a strength build (or if you just wanna buff goofy, since he can actually get really goddamn strong in KH1)
Synth and get higher tier Magic fast, most of them are side content, so you will need to properly explore.
Don't forget Summons even if those aren't as broken as in II/III.
How is it odd? I think the downplaying of RPG elements in a series that’s supposed to be an action and RPG hybrid is a valid critique, especially with how the first game handled those elements very well.

The Trickmaster fight is a great example since you have a bunch of options that vary depending on which level up path you picked at the start of the game. For example, if you picked the Shield, you can use the Slapshot ability to deflect its fireballs right back at it with a well-timed parry. If you picked Staff, you can have strong enough magic by that point you can stun it easily with Thunder and get free hits in. On top of that, you can use Blizzard to put out the fires on its batons, but you can ALSO use it on the fire in the fireplace to put it out and stop it from lighting them in the first place. KH1 is full of shit like this >Fat Bandits having an item drop that can only happen if you kill them after they inhale for their fire breath attack >aiming for the opposite element of a Defender’s attack (casting fire when it uses Blizzard for example) will temporarily stun it >parrying Guard Armor’s spin attacks sends it down flat on its ass >using Gravity on Maleficent’s floating platform will cause it to fall down >casting Fire at Riku-Ansem will cause him to counter back with Dark Firaga, which you can deflect back at him for a ton of tech points
KH2 is mostly devoid of those kind of unique player-agent interactions from 1 and while it does replace that sort of thing by giving you a plethora of viable options to tackle a fight as well as allowing even your movement tools to be effective parry options against attacks you wouldn't think they would work on, the interactivity has been stripped out quite a bit, which is a bummer.
This isn’t even getting into the amount of customization you can do in regards not just to your Keyblade but also in stats, bars, and party member usage. You could even make your MP bar bigger than that your HP bar if you desired or cast Aeroga on Donald or Goofy and command them to go to town on one enemy and have them DPS it do death.

based post
KH1 had so many little bits of interactivity that the later games lacked.
i actually bought the kh collection and played the games first time.
1 got me invested so much more than 2. 2 was too easy on critical, the difficulty ramps up near the end but half of the game is very easy.
>already using shorthops for easier parries and faster combos
And you are so moronic that you don't see being able to use a technique to your advantage as a positive, but as a negative.
>Where have i ever even stated that
Read your post >combat makes me want to kms >already using shorthops for easier parries and faster combos
You're saying it as if it is a crutch. If you wanted to name it as a positive you could say >at least I can use shorthops....
Getting filtered by simplicity is a great way to out a moron, and you not being able to understand what the words you say mean is another great example.
I'm sorry your reading comprehension is failing you this spectaculary, anon, but you're literally the only person to have read this much meaning into a simple >well at least shorthops make it more fun than the boring slow ground combos that make you extremely vulnerable
I'll be glad to hear why ground combos are a skill issue and not just bad in KH1, though.
>well at least shorthops make it more fun than the boring slow ground combos that make you extremely vulnerable
That's a proper sentence, thanks. >I'll be glad to hear why ground combos are a skill issue and not just bad in KH1
That is how action design works. Give multiple options to different problems. Ground combos have their own benefits at times, and air combos have their negatives albeit a lot less. The tracking in 1 is very strict, you whiff and you're left open. I don't see how this is bad design, you're not supposed to miss your attacks and if you do that's entirely on you.
If you use air attacks to make life easier for you then congratulations you have just figured out how video games work and manage to make you have fun. Enjoy KH1 for its combat and don't try to play it like it's a different game. If there are a bunch of Red Nocturnes (pic related) use a Blizzard spell to take them all out swiftly. If there is a big body, move behind it or block any of its attacks to stun it.
Enemy design in KH1 rewards the player for anything that isn't stupidly mashing X. So try to be open minded and enjoy it for what it does well.
Anonymous
Aye, i'm having fun with the game now but the early game was very frustrating, simply because of the low reach of your basic combos and lack of real options until you get a bunch of magic
I also personally don't enjoy just mashing X in 2 and haven't done that in 1 the second i saw the heavy opening you suffer on a miss, plus timing the Attack at the end of the air animations causes the next one to happen immediately, which is pretty nice
Most people that hate on KH1's level design are used to 7th gen and up games. Games that are either extremely linear, or have a minimap with markers and waypoints telling you where to go.
God forbid a level in a video game forces you to pay attention to your surroundings.
NTA but it's slightly more confusing than the other levels, it's pretty easy to fall down and have to backtrack, and doesn't have much in the way of visual variety. I don't hate it though. Only KH world I kinda dislike is Neverland because it's so short and cramped, but it has some ludo here and there.
i get way more confused in the neverland ship than i ever have in monstro. that ship might be the only place in KH1 where i'm just randomly going through doors at times and hope to end up at the right place. but even then it's not so bad to the point you'd get stuck there
I learned Stop works on her, the rest was spamming triangle so my 2 idiots actually keep doing damage haha
Omw to Halloween Town now, almost past the Night XP slowdown
>Ansem Seeker of Darkness' Kingdom Hearts sheds light from the doors (because Sora said so I guess) until you look inside and it's jam packed with darkness >Xemnas' Kingdom Hearts opens without the light fanfare and is a home extension on The World that Never Was
Kingdom Hearts is impressionable.
>(because Sora said so I guess)
wasn't it mickey doing some bullshit? at least, that's what i figured, but i never played the side game that explains why he was shirtless so maybe it's mentioned there
>but i never played the side game that explains why he was shirtless
The fact that Nomura felt like he had to address this is still hilarious to me
You're gonna address why he didn't have his shirt on the finale of KH1 but not why his model doesn't get his ears right since?
>the wise man whose journal pages you'd been collecting all game turned out to be the main villain >the other half of the journal pages you were missing reveals his darker nature
12 year old brain found this the most kino shit, was I right to? (Ignoring how KH2 sort of messes with this twist)
A bunch of 0s to break anything, have been like 15 years since I played but I just mostly did that, 0s and big number cards, also Oogie Boogie card heals you, Tinkerbell is great if you can maintain her and Clouds are also a nice damage dealer
probably because they play KH for the combat (which COM boils down to cards, not that the card system is bad but it's too different) or the sense of adventure (of which COM has none because you're just retreading places you've been redoing the same plots)
there's also the fact it was on GBA so I guess you had sony fanboys deriding it for that? I dunno
I liked the original COM when I played it back on GBA. Re:COM suffers from feeling like a KH1 asset flip, especially when played back-to-back. It's like, you've just finished playing KH1, you were an end-game god, and now you're playing the same game again only now this time every time you attack there's a chance you'll be interrupted because another enemy threw their card at you. Just doesn't feel good fundamentally. Even when you adjust to it you realize how repetitive COM's gameplay formula is, how (even though there's a decent plot between worlds) the worlds are all the same as KH1 with throwaway storylines, and the balance is insanely broken. I also don't think the cutscenes carry well enough over to 3D models. When it's some sprites standing in an empty white room you can fill the gaps in your imagination, whereas fully animated 3D models standing in an empty white room just feels awkward.
Every game since 1 has to make up an excuse as to why Sora lost all his abilities >CoM - entering the castle made him, Donald and Goofy forget all their battle experience >2 - they were in the coma pods getting their memories back together >Re:Coded - he's based on data from the first journey >DDD - got his knees capped because of the Mark of Mastery exam >3 - lost everything after shit went FUBAR at the end of the Mark of Mastery exam >4 (presumably) - He fricking died of time shenanigans and ended up in a different universe altogether
I was considering grinding the Tidus fight but I reached about level 24 before I decided I'd just go for the mushroom juggle or rock titan fight instead.
>grinding the Tidus fight >but I reached about level 24
homie you fricking what
did you mean to say a different FF character or did you seriously grind to level 24 on destiny islands?
sure, but that guy seemed like he was doing it because he thought it'd be the best way to get EXP, and not for the challenge of it, considering he said he stopped at 24 to pursue other options
The blonde boy with the red stick. Yeah I was listening to some youtube videos in the background but after hearing that music loop the 1000th time I decided I was going to bail.
KH3 seems to have stopped slamming my nuts with a sledgehammer after reaching Monstropolis/Arendelle, does it get harder after those two worlds or does it just keep getting easier?
The Pro Codes? If you have them all on, 90% of your options are completely disabled.
They're wiener and ball torture for people who make no damage YouTube videos.
At most, turn on a couple that you would want to do anyway, like No Kupo Coins or something
>It is actively making me put down the controller after every fight
the good news is you can! after every single fight in the entire game, simply put down the controller as three minutes of cutscenes play!

This argument doesn't matter.
The simple fact is KH2 Seph is harder than KH1 Seph which is easy as frick.
KH2 Sephiroth is easier despite being more powerful. His attacks are faster and cover a wider area, but Sora's superior mobility combined with the smaller battlefield mean that Sephiroth can't keep up. Sora's toolkit is also superior. Between reflega, Trinity, and limit form, Sephiroth doesn't stand a chance. He's way harder in 1 where you're less mobile and Sephiroth has more room to work.
yes, shield will give you leaf bracer and second chance much earlier than you'd usually get them
rod will give you +1 MP, which directly affects the strength of your spells (but the major downside is that you get second chance at an insanely late lvl 90)
there are also some other minor stat changes depending on what you take and what you sacrifice but these are pretty obvious
i personally go with rod every time but if it's your first playthrough shield might make the early-mid game a lot less painful
Playing through KH1 and I just saved Kairi. So far I'm insanely impressed. There's been alot of frustrating design decisions that impeded my feelings for it but I'm willing to look past it's flaws because it's just so unique and original. Plus the combat really holds up. I can see why this franchise is so beloved. There's simply nothing else like it.
No, and I'm tired of pretending he's good at all. Riku was fine up to 2 but then he just meanders and repeats the same arc in DDD, but written terribly, then is a useless jobber in 3. Riku fricking sucks. Sora has actual character arcs, too, but he's not a mopey, depressed or edgy emo, so people pretend he doesn't.
>uhhh, are you sure this is the door to kingdom hearts goofy? >A-HYUK, Sora trust me. Donald has done the research and you must trust the magic. Erect your keyblade and shoot dead center.

I don't know how you can read that interview and come out of it with the idea that her creative spirit as a songwriter would let her half ass the songs.

I never once said she despised the songs.
I said she hated having to redo them in english.

Wait but there are interviews from before this where she says she wrote Sanctuary before Passion...huh?
Which is it?
Hikari/Simple and clean and then Passion/Sanctuary (i consider both japanese and english versions equally good).
Face my fears is complete trash though and it ruined what should have been an emotional and intense opening for the fricking ending of the xehanort arc with its fricking dubstep.
Arguably the best gameplay in the series, together with the least fricked story
Being able to mix magic, combos, summons and drives however you please is simply amazing
It's the very last time we see a competent sora, because every single game after release date of 2 sora gets more significantly moronic to justify your character being level 1.
He gets amnesia for any fricking reason or it's not really sora. It's fricking stupid and I hate it.
no. it's a degenerate mess where you either mash X the whole game or slap so many arbitrary restrictions on yourself that the only way to progress is spamming fully invincible attacks and chugging potions. the story is 98% filler and the rest feels like a bad bleach fan fiction.
>For each numbered KH game, Nomura would give Kairi an Utada Hikaru hair style
Nice. >Utada Hikaru is non binary now
Uh... >Alyson Stoner, Kairi and Xion's current VAs also goes by They/Them
YAMERO!
>is the most important thing in the universe in 1 >never mentioned again afterward >...even though it's basically half of what the X-Blade is
Very unusual given Nomura will take the tiniest detail and make a whole game about it.
KH1FM's grinding is definitely worse than vanilla, they added a lot of filler before Ultima Weapon to force you to fight the added mini-bosses over and over.
Probably got a few thousand hours in KH2 at this point totalling from when it first released
Never touched KH3 at all and just bought the full set on Steam
What should i prepare myself for? Anything i need to know to not frick up my Crit run?
I was able to sit through BBS for a 100% run twice, while the artstyle in 3 is honestly repulsing to look at and i will never forgive them for not giving the fricking Hud elements Artworks instead of shitty unity renders im going to at least complete the game once
>I was able to sit through BBS for a 100% run twice
That's legit nothing compared to one singular playthrough of KH3. Combine the worst elements of all games and you get KH3.
Reading that actually made me immediately check modnexus and hey!
https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomhearts3/mods/126
Sick
Surely there are mods to make the combat feel better, since i heard its incredibly floaty and reliant on the disney shit, right?
Do it, mod it as much as much as you can. If you can find someway to end the retarted BBS floatyness or DDD garbage, do it for your own sake, anon. FRICK KH3

Alright, i'll give the normal game a shot but if it actually turns out to be unbearable i guess i'll check out things like https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomhearts3/mods/643
If you were able to play BBS that much, KH3 will feel like the greatest thing that has ever happened in your life.
You don't need mods, and basically all of them make you moronic overpowered. Just play the game.
Why do you care what others say?
Re:mind introduced critical and pro menu. Kh3 is literally the best game in the series and the combat has elements from every game. Also bosses are more engaging during the story. Just use the skill which makes attractions disappear.
I was excited to play chain of memories after kh1 because i never played it but after a few battles ive decided im just going to watch the cutscenes on youtube. Theres no way im spending 30 hours with this awkward card battle shit.
It's fun once you sit down and embrace it. Don't try to play it like KH1.
If you're frustrated by not getting to attack, only attack by using sleights. So put three cards in a row so their numbers add up and you won't be interrupted.
I can only talk about the GBA version but if you got Agrabah first you get Genie Jafar's enemy card. Which also stops enemies from interrupting your attack cards for a pretty long time.
You can get really autistic about the deckbuilding and optimization.
https://kingdomhearts.fandom.com/wiki/World_cards#Chest_rewards_per_world:~:text=Axel%0ALarxene%0AMarluxia-,Chest%20rewards%20per%20world,-Chests%20contents%20sometimes
Have no shame about checking out a wiki to see where you can get some cool sleights or cards.
So, let me get this straight:
Ansem (Terranort) and Xemnas had their own plans regarding the Kingdom Hearts, as they didn't actually remember being Xehanort due to the amnesia Terranort suffered in BBS, right? They were only aware of it after being defeated in DDD/KH3 and brought back with time travel by the-now "somebody" Xehanort, yeah?
Or was it that only Xemnas knew, with him making the organization 13 in the first place while Ansem was doing frick all rand- wait, no, Ansem went back in time to Xehanorts younger self.. Wait.. Uh.. How did he know? Wait, maybe he went back in time after he went forward in time and was told by future xehan... No.. Ansem went back in time first to tell young Xehanort about time travel first as he wouldn't have brought him into future if he didn't know about that....
Uhh...
What the frick?
>Ansem (Terranort) and Xemnas had their own plans regarding the Kingdom Hearts, as they didn't actually remember being Xehanort due to the amnesia Terranort suffered in BBS, right? They were only aware of it after being defeated in DDD/KH3 and brought back with time travel by the-now "somebody" Xehanort, yeah?
Wrong. Ansem seeker of Darkness time travelled to the past since his new shadow form allowed him and started the events because when Xeharnoth (Real young master xehanort) was a teen he meet with Ansem seeker of Darkness (Yes is a time loop, like Final Fantasy 1) and Xemnas remember a lot since he made the organization with the purpose of making 13 vessels of darkness to summon the real kingdom hearts, and on top of that he tried to search for Ventus (who was inside Oblivion castle) and talked to Aqua using the room in hollow bastion.
Guys, didn't you know your not allowed to like Kingdom hearts? its cringe. Also, Disney is evil, and was never good. Mickey mouse sucks big fat wiener. Loony tunes was better.
>Your salty about Versus XIII?

You really think Nomura was capable of delivering salient political takes even if KH2 gameplay was servicable for Versus

Versus was KH2 meets Ivalice. Nomura even got the Gambit system programmer, the monster biome designer, writers from FF12 and Vagrant Story's cutscene director.
No, she is just a loose woman. She has plenty of nudes she shot herself and at least two sex tapes last time I checked. It's pretty nonchalant too, she photographed a dude while he was eating her out and shit, can't even be mad at her she just likes sex.
W-WHO ARE YOU

I see.... that's why.
Atlantis rewards you a really good MP boosting keyblade. But it's Atlantis, so do it after the other two so you at least have a bit of a level boost by then.
The only part that really threw me off a lot was the constant lightning attacks. Those swimming controls really did not make dodging that easy. Chernabog is where I actually just quit the game entirely for years. That boss was just fricking unfair
The only part that really threw me off a lot was the constant lightning attacks. Those swimming controls really did not make dodging that easy. Chernabog is where I actually just quit the game entirely for years. That boss was just fricking unfair
Both are just shitty DPS tests. With Ursula equipping lightning res helps and during Chernabog fire res helps a lot as well.
It's just really shitty to have an involved combat system dumbed down to just hitting a big face until it dies.
>Atlantis rewards you a really good MP boosting keyblade
Guess I'll do that first then
Atlantis rewards you a really good MP boosting keyblade. But it's Atlantis, so do it after the other two so you at least have a bit of a level boost by then.
Oh I forgot about this thread, I competed the level but got no new keyblade, guess I should've mentioned I'm playing the PS2 1FM version oh well.
Fellas, I love these games but the lore and plot makes me want blow my fricking brains out. I legitimately cannot believe how moronly convoluted this plot is, but then again that's just all nip games
Why do people want remakes of the mediocre DS games which just re-use the worlds from the PS2 games anyways? I think Square made the right call just making cutscenes for the games. Imaging retreading the worlds again with the worst gameplay. Chain of Memories is the most interesting one that does this.
>random piece of scenery
I know it was really, really late into KH1, but its presence was never random. That you were taken there and shown those capsules during the finale meant they were important, even back then.
Yes. The Disney worlds are fun to traverse but very few of the characters are actually important. The Final Fantasy characters are alt universe versions, you don't need to know the 'real' games at all to get the characters.
>Want to play KH3 critical mode again because most of the game was fun >But i'm an absolute shitter who can't do crit limit cut and rage quit at Xion last time
I wish I could turn the difficulty down at the very end of the game honestly.
KH3 as a whole filters me on critical because fights are just way too damn big. I hit a guy 3 times and get clipped from the side and die.
Arenas are as big as a football stadium and there are two dozen guys 4 of which shoot projectiles.
KH2 really is just a sequence of enemies catching you in unbreakable stunlocks and command grabs that effectively one-hit you in Critical Mode, isn't it?
I've seen extreme veterans get caught offguard by them and killed, they're a fricking nightmare
If i remember right magnet works and they are able to be juggled once midair, but thats about all i remember
stuck in RE:CoM hell right now
You'd think in a game about reaction commands that they'd have one to allow you to counter the unbreakable 1/2 HP bar worth of damage attack that then gets followed up by a 3/4rds HP bar damage attack. But no.
I'm genuinely currently in the mindset that everyone who says KH2 is better than KH1 is just flat wrong to the point of absurdity. Because, overall, it feels like a regression. It doesn't have the flow of KH1 and it needlessly convolutes things. And I guess that being praised it what led to KH3. The entire series is just a fricking downslide.

Anonymous
>and it needlessly convolutes things
Did you play Chain of Memories?
Anonymous
>And I guess that being praised it what led to KH3
Opposite actually. Nomura has stated that the negative reaction to reaction commands is what led to them doing the Situation Commands instead.
And KH3's levels being ridiculously huge stems from the complaints of KH2's level design being super linear.
The big praises of 2FM only came in the second half of the last decade, when everyone got to play a good version of it on PS4. And now that Nomura knows that people actually enjoy 2FM and its systems, he put reaction commands back in KH4.
Thunder shoots straight
Thundara shoots to both sides
Thundaga is a missile that shoots ever 3 seconds or so
What you want is 1 thunder, 1 thundara and as many lasers (comet-g/meteor-g) as possible. The lasers are shot by pressing triangle and they destroy everything with ease while auto-aiming for you.
No it isn't. Darkness is a dude. https://www.khwiki.com/Darkness_(character)
Wrong.
Darkness is 13 dudes.
Seven, actually.
13. 7 greaters, 6 lessers.
>darkness is now retroactively a person instead of an abstract concept
fricking anime bullshit is always like this.
>he lacks the ability to apply physical bodies to a metaphysical concept
Grim.
Similarly, what did you have for breakfast today?
To be fair that is how it worked in ancient myth.
It's both.
PICK UP THE PHONE DARKNESS
My Warcraft 3 homie
Union Cross is such turbo dogshit
Filtered by a phone game.
Union X has the best story in all of KH.
it has the MOST story in all of KH but that doesnt make it good story. KH1 is still the most clear and succinct of the series, by a country mile.
So you didn't play it.
>people think this guy is actually named darkness and not just a cheeky retort to Maleficent asking for their name
smoothbrain
>this guy
There are 13 guys who's names are actually Darkness.
>he never played the phone game

Is literally Darkness essence, a part of 13
If women are the light.
We'll be the darkness.
The realm of light is safe now.
I'm Darkness?
The Kingdom Hearts are always darkest before the dawn, or something. χ-blade.
You're wrong. I know now, without a doubt, Kingdom Hearts... is LIGHT!
Noo fricking way, are you seriously doubting Ansem? You know this Black person actually SAW kingdom hearts like, ages ago as Xehanort? There is no conceiveable way he would be wrong.
Sorry Sora, I don't buy it, not today.
YO WHAT THE FRICK THAT'S BULLSHIT
AAAH
that was a literally a door to darkness
I still have no idea why light poured out of it
It leads to darkness because the light all left to kill Ansem.
So what the frick was the first Kingdom Hearts then? I'm confused there's like 3 Kingdom Hearts?
Yes, actually, theres the Kingdom Hearts of the hearts of the people, the fake Kingdom Hearts Xemnas came up with in 2 and the Kingdom Heats of the worlds.
A fake Kingdom Hearts made with the hearts of the worlds.
The one in KH2 is another fake one made with the hearts of people.
And finally the one in KH3 is the real one summoned with the X blade
yes. kingdom hearts was a game on the PlayStation 2 as well was kingdom hearts 2. kingdom hearts 3 was on the playstation 4
Oh my darkness!
So what happens if Sora fails to stop Xehanort? Doesn't he try to use his Kingdom Hearts and gets LIGHTED anyway?
But Sora doesn't fail to stop Ansem.
He probably has no problems with light.
Ansem was probably fricked because he was a heartless.
Frick me I meant Ansem.
>It should have been me, not her! It's not fair
If Xehanort isn't stopped, his entire plan finalizes with using Kingdom Hearts to nuke the multiverse to try and get rid of all Darkness forever.
So you're saying he did nothing wrong.
MoM has a darkness inside him too.
he would kill everyone and then try to create a new universe
but obviously that universe would have darkness too
he's dumber than sora
Anon was wrong anyway. Xehanort didn't want to eliminate darkness. He wanted to create a universe with darkness and light in equal measure.
>He wanted to create a universe with darkness and light in equal measure.
He tells us his goals all but completely in KH 3 and it's basically "Darkness is bad so I'll remake the multiverse into one where it isn't the overwhelming majority of existence".
I don't remember him saying that.
Someone to dictate their destiny.
He did, basically he wanted to be some sort of Thanos, also Xehanort plan is the same one the Master of Masters has except he will use other methods
What was ansem's endgame? He was going to lose even if he beat Sora since Kingdom hearts would have killed him anyway.
I don't know why light showed up just because sora said it. It was obviouslly a door to a bunch of heartless, should have did a final limit break on ansem instead.
Well the True Kingdom Hearts is deep within the Realm of Darkness. So opening that door would let that light shine out briefly.
ack...lliiiight...but why...
I fricking love Billy Zane's performance.
Everyone in this series goes on and on about light and darkness but Billy Zane as Ansem gave so much gravitas to it that no one else could match. Though Leonard Nimoy's Xehanort came close.
CUM GUARDIAN
>Think Billy zane's to big to play him again in the sequel.
>Turns out he would have done it, they just didn't ask.
You really do miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take.
i thought it was because he got blacklisted for some bullshit or something. or did 2/com come out before that happened?
At least his equally good japanese version (Akio Otsuka) voiced him in every game in the series in japanese and even voiced Master Xehanort after his father (Chikao Otsuka), who was his previous voice, died and did it perfectly.
What are you basing that off of? Ansem is a researcher with years of papers written on the subject. Sorry but I'm going to trust the science
>yfw it's actually light
>yfw it's actually light
do they even mention kingdom hearts before this?
I remember one confusing line of text (not voice acted) that pops up when you interact with an optional object in the last world.
They talk about the door to darkness before then (which is the door to Kingdom Hearts) but Ansem is the first to mention "Kingdom Hearts" by name.
we learn from Jafar that they collect the princesses to "open the door"
>You see, [Jasmie]’s a princess—one of seven who somehow hold the key to opening the door. But you fools won’t live to see what lies beyond it.
after the events of Monstro Maleficent tells Riku about the door and the heart of all worlds, but doesn't use the term Kingdom Hearts yet
>There are seven maidens of the purest heart. We call them the princesses of heart. Gather them together, and a door will open to the heart of all worlds. Within lies untold wisdom. There, you will surely find a way to recover Kairi’s heart.
then the final world uses the name when you're interacting with Ansem's old research-room
>All hearts to be one, one heart to encompass all. Ones born of the heart and darkness, hunger for every heart until the dark door opens.
and then we get the Ansem cutscene
>Behold the endless abyss! Within it lies the heart of all worlds: Kingdom Hearts! Look as hard as you are able. You’ll not find even the smallest glimmer of light. From those dark depths are all hearts born. Even yours.
Heh, dumb kid, I’ll just open the door and show you then!
>playing through 1FM for the first time on Proud
>combat makes me want to kms
>already using shorthops for easier parries and faster combos
>the entirety of Monstro
i am convinced this game is completely held up by nostalgia, not a single thing is better in here than in 2
it's pretty bland
spam magic to have fun
worst part is that i want to 100% it and never touch it again, but all the supposed "op ez mode" things are locked behind the lategame and so far its just been a slog
might just look up where to find stop an start spamming gravity on mob battles
KH1 was originally going to have more depth. They wanted to add a physics system that allows you to knock enemies to other enemies. KH1 was going to be one of those games where the combat is simple but has a lot of interactivity to make up for the simplistic combat.
>They wanted to add a physics system that allows you to knock enemies to other enemies.
What's stopping them from doing it in 4?
Despite KH1 setting the baseline, KH2 will always be The definitive Kingdom Hearts.
>What's stopping them from doing it in 4?
Nothing, but it wouldn't fit KH's new high-action pack combo-heavy gameplay unless they dial combo-heavy gameplay back to KH1 style of gameplay.
Haa... haa... sex... I wanna have sex!
What are you trying to say?
I found a Sleeping Keyhole
1 ages like milk, 2 aged like wine.
Only morons who think flashy combos = depth actually think this.
monstro becomes infinitely easier to get through when you realize you just need to follow the green doors
>He didn't make a magic build
That's on you, friend.
>make a build
with what?
i picked the staff and ditched the sword, i don't exactly have options to any "builds" yet, i'm locked into like 2 items that increase MP and/or magic.
go do some synthing, in order to unlock more synth recipes you need to synth one of most items
the second page of synth has magic armlets that give +1MP and have decently easy-to-get materials
there's also golem chains that give +3str and have similarly easy materials, if you'd rather do a strength build (or if you just wanna buff goofy, since he can actually get really goddamn strong in KH1)
Synth and get higher tier Magic fast, most of them are side content, so you will need to properly explore.
Don't forget Summons even if those aren't as broken as in II/III.
Currently doing Atlantica and then probably gonna do Coliseum Cups
D E E P
F R E E Z E
Played it for the first time years back and had more fun with 1 than I did with 2.
My condolences.
Sorry, I actually like having to engage with my enemies and actual RPG elements as opposed to QTEs.
If that's all you got from KH2 i can see why you would have this odd view
How is it odd? I think the downplaying of RPG elements in a series that’s supposed to be an action and RPG hybrid is a valid critique, especially with how the first game handled those elements very well.
>especially with how the first game handled those elements very well
Elaborate.
KH1 is full of shit like this
>Fat Bandits having an item drop that can only happen if you kill them after they inhale for their fire breath attack
>aiming for the opposite element of a Defender’s attack (casting fire when it uses Blizzard for example) will temporarily stun it
>parrying Guard Armor’s spin attacks sends it down flat on its ass
>using Gravity on Maleficent’s floating platform will cause it to fall down
>casting Fire at Riku-Ansem will cause him to counter back with Dark Firaga, which you can deflect back at him for a ton of tech points
You could even make your MP bar bigger than that your HP bar if you desired or cast Aeroga on Donald or Goofy and command them to go to town on one enemy and have them DPS it do death.
>you can stun it easily with Thunder
>thunder
>in wonderland
>go to coliseum
>smack a bunch of barrels
>receive thunder
what's the issue?
The fact that you are not supposed to go to Olympus before Wonderland and 99% of players will not do it.
And no one ever does because Olympus has a higher battle level.
just because you didn't doesn't mean no one does
>he doesn’t live dangerously on the edge for first time runs or replays
Don’t be a pussy, anon.
See, there’s a thing called "player choice", anon. Look it up, it’ll blow your mind.
The good thing about going to Olympus Coliseum first is that you get Thunder fairly early, I think you only have to beat the barrel sequences, you can leave Cerberus for later if he's too hard.
I know. You've said it like 10 times.
The point is, no one actually does it.
Anon you're not making a real argument.
Most people never touch harder difficulties, does that mean those don't matter? It's a ludicrous idea.
You're just wrong on this. You're allowed to be wrong and just disappear, it's an anonymous imageboard. Trying to preserve your pride just makes you look like an idiot.
>does that mean those don't matter?
Literally yes. They don't matter. They are fun and should be played, but they absolutely do not matter.
kek
it's like the little kid who says he can hold his breath for 4 hours and then actually tries it
>he didn't play in the pool with his friends and see who could hold their breath the longest
I've decided that you don't matter. Disappear.
If I could disappear I'd be in the women's locker room right now.
you get thunder for free by going to the coliseum (which is the other world option after you leave TT)
You do realize that you can go to Olympus first if you wanted to, right?
every time i talk about this series with a Die Hard Fan Over 40295057459 Hours Played 14th Place World Record Speedrun in 2017, they're baffled that you get different moves if you go to the levels in a different order.
did you play the game 40 times and do the same order every time? isn't that boring as frick?
I am replaying the game for the game. Why would I play it different than how I normally play it?
No one ever goes to Olympus first just to get thunder.
>>Why would I play it different than how I normally play it?
>why would I play an action ROLE-PLAYING game in a different way?
Do you even hear yourself?
There's no roleplaying in KH man.
I don't believe you. I should know. I'm the type of anon that would claim this just because someone else said no one does it.
anon you don't even have to complete olympus like the other guy said, you just break a bunch of barrels and get thunder
Do you think the Final Fantasy elements are just there in the form of cameos, anon? It’s literally in the mechanics themselves. From giving items to flowers to have them open up hidden paths to being able to choose your EXP growth rate to customizing your party members and more.
>giving items to flowers to have them open up hidden paths
Never happens. Giving items to flowers in Wonderland only ever just gives you hp/mana orbs and sometimes an item.
? How can you miss the flower which makes you giant?? and then you can hit the tree to spin it? Why do you lie on the internet you fricking mongrel dog
Crazy how confident you are while being wrong.
>Do you think the Final Fantasy elements are just there in the form of cameos, anon?
According to Nomura, yes. Yes they are.
>Why would I play it different than how I normally play it?
To see what you can get away with? See how things can change out of order? The first game even takes this into account with how certain cutscenes can change depending on the order of worlds you went with.
?si=LDtXiSLBmh1a6k4h
Anon, just because you’re a basic b***h doesn’t mean that the rest of us are. Experiment a little, go nuts.
i'm replaying the game too and i went to olympus just for thunder.
i didn't even beat cerberus when i first went there, i left to wonderland to get blizzard and some levels first.
>No one ever goes to Olympus first just to get thunder.
2 has similar shit and I go to Olympus first to get Counterguard
once you learn you get thunder by going to olympus why would you not go there first every time
You're a boring c**t and projecting. The strength in KH1 has always been how open ended it is.
based post
KH1 had so many little bits of interactivity that the later games lacked.
Remember this is b8 designed to anger actual KH fans who universally like 2.
>it’s bait because I don’t like it
No its b8 because you are only posting it to start an argument.
i actually bought the kh collection and played the games first time.
1 got me invested so much more than 2. 2 was too easy on critical, the difficulty ramps up near the end but half of the game is very easy.
agreed i had the same experience, the camera is so bad
>already using shorthops for easier parries and faster combos
And you are so moronic that you don't see being able to use a technique to your advantage as a positive, but as a negative.
Where have i ever even stated that you monkey
Its the only way to make combos bearable in 1 lmao
>Where have i ever even stated that
Read your post
>combat makes me want to kms
>already using shorthops for easier parries and faster combos
You're saying it as if it is a crutch. If you wanted to name it as a positive you could say
>at least I can use shorthops....
Getting filtered by simplicity is a great way to out a moron, and you not being able to understand what the words you say mean is another great example.
I'm sorry your reading comprehension is failing you this spectaculary, anon, but you're literally the only person to have read this much meaning into a simple
>well at least shorthops make it more fun than the boring slow ground combos that make you extremely vulnerable
Aye, i'm having fun with the game now but the early game was very frustrating, simply because of the low reach of your basic combos and lack of real options until you get a bunch of magic
I also personally don't enjoy just mashing X in 2 and haven't done that in 1 the second i saw the heavy opening you suffer on a miss, plus timing the Attack at the end of the air animations causes the next one to happen immediately, which is pretty nice
what's wrong with monstro? it's short and the bosses are easy
Only KH world I kinda dislike is Neverland because it's so short and cramped, but it has some ludo here and there.
i get way more confused in the neverland ship than i ever have in monstro. that ship might be the only place in KH1 where i'm just randomly going through doors at times and hope to end up at the right place. but even then it's not so bad to the point you'd get stuck there
>He thinks Monstro is bad
Wait until you fight Ursula, you'll want to rip your eyes out.
I learned Stop works on her, the rest was spamming triangle so my 2 idiots actually keep doing damage haha
Omw to Halloween Town now, almost past the Night XP slowdown
Why not light?
>Ansem Seeker of Darkness' Kingdom Hearts sheds light from the doors (because Sora said so I guess) until you look inside and it's jam packed with darkness
>Xemnas' Kingdom Hearts opens without the light fanfare and is a home extension on The World that Never Was
Kingdom Hearts is impressionable.
>(because Sora said so I guess)
wasn't it mickey doing some bullshit? at least, that's what i figured, but i never played the side game that explains why he was shirtless so maybe it's mentioned there
He was shirtless because Capcom was making a point and click adventure game and Nomura wasn't allowed to use Mickey except for one frame.
>but i never played the side game that explains why he was shirtless
The fact that Nomura felt like he had to address this is still hilarious to me
You're gonna address why he didn't have his shirt on the finale of KH1 but not why his model doesn't get his ears right since?
Is it just me or is Aqua's lips so sexual in her game?
So Square totally fricked themselves by showing KH4 early like usual right?
COME GUARDIAN
how come Kingdom Hearts has such good music?
Shimomura likes money.
So does anyone actually watch the cutscenes on a replay?
The better questions, what cutscenes do you NEVER skip on a replay?
For me, this is one of the top ones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kciNWrq7FIA
>what cutscenes do you NEVER skip on a replay?
I never, and that goes for all games.
Based. Although doing it at the right time can be hilarious sometimes. https://www.youtube.com/clip/UgkxtHw220Tc2MKEbGgfub2atLPp8VAPtB6_
Always. I replay it once every few years so it’s not like I get tired of them due to repetition.
>the wise man whose journal pages you'd been collecting all game turned out to be the main villain
>the other half of the journal pages you were missing reveals his darker nature
12 year old brain found this the most kino shit, was I right to? (Ignoring how KH2 sort of messes with this twist)
Yes, it was extremely kino, the final reports from Final Mix were great too
I do like that even with the Xehanort/Ansem retcon from KH2, they still acknowledge that Ansem was kind of a fricked up guy.
Ansem only became fricked up after his apprentices betrayed him.
He already started to experiment with the hearts before Xehanort.
Yes and then realized that shit was dangerous and stopped the experiments and forbade the apprentices from doing any more.
Yeah but we don't know how many people got fricked before that point, the games leave that in the air
Well we know AT LEAST a little girl got fricked before that point.
of course you were, it's unironically kino
Darkness is Mickey Mouse
why?
Why do people shit on COM I think its fun
as someone whose first game was the original GBA CoM, RE:CoM is a piece of shit, the original is unironically a better game
Agreed. Re:CoM is also boring as hell. One of the only two games to bore me to sleep while playing it. The other being Days.
CoM has a great story on pair with KH1, is pixel kino, you can have bullshit builds and a second mode with Riku, Re CoM is a poor imitation but in 3D
Anons care to share some tips or cool deck builds with me? I'm getting fricked up by the Dragon Maleficent fight in the GBA version.
A bunch of 0s to break anything, have been like 15 years since I played but I just mostly did that, 0s and big number cards, also Oogie Boogie card heals you, Tinkerbell is great if you can maintain her and Clouds are also a nice damage dealer
Sora felt human in that game even though he was technically a Heartless. The later games gave him the moronic shounen protagonist syndrome
probably because they play KH for the combat (which COM boils down to cards, not that the card system is bad but it's too different) or the sense of adventure (of which COM has none because you're just retreading places you've been redoing the same plots)
there's also the fact it was on GBA so I guess you had sony fanboys deriding it for that?
Every game since 1 has to make up an excuse as to why Sora lost all his abilities
>CoM - entering the castle made him, Donald and Goofy forget all their battle experience
>2 - they were in the coma pods getting their memories back together
>Re:Coded - he's based on data from the first journey
>DDD - got his knees capped because of the Mark of Mastery exam
>3 - lost everything after shit went FUBAR at the end of the Mark of Mastery exam
>4 (presumably) - He fricking died of time shenanigans and ended up in a different universe altogether
Should I have gone for the leave at twilight answers in the beginning or is it better to go for leave at night?
You always leave at night.
it doesn't matter unless you're psychotic enough to want to hit level 99
Level 100 is the cap bro. And its not hard to get. Its not even that tedious.
I was considering grinding the Tidus fight but I reached about level 24 before I decided I'd just go for the mushroom juggle or rock titan fight instead.
moron. You have no idea how to grind exp in KH1 do you?
Not really no. Is there something I'm missing here?
The best way imo to grind exp in KH1 is to grind the Hotel in traverse town.
I'll have to keep that in mind. I just got to Agrabah so I'll be getting into synthesis stuff soon.
>grinding the Tidus fight
>but I reached about level 24
homie you fricking what
did you mean to say a different FF character or did you seriously grind to level 24 on destiny islands?
NTA but anon's on Ganker have claimed to hit 100 on Destiny Islands.
sure, but that guy seemed like he was doing it because he thought it'd be the best way to get EXP, and not for the challenge of it, considering he said he stopped at 24 to pursue other options
The blonde boy with the red stick. Yeah I was listening to some youtube videos in the background but after hearing that music loop the 1000th time I decided I was going to bail.
>I was considering grinding the Tidus fight but I reached about level 24
What kind of advanced autism is this?
Dead of Night is always the best option for me.
For me, it's leaving at midday for the balanced experience that never goes too fast or too slow.
KH3 seems to have stopped slamming my nuts with a sledgehammer after reaching Monstropolis/Arendelle, does it get harder after those two worlds or does it just keep getting easier?
Like every KH game before it, the game gets easier as you get more powerful. The only time it gets hard again is when you are doing superbosses.
the ice dog is fricked hard. after that it's a lot easier until you get near the end
Ice dog is only hard if you are turning on Pro Codes.
i beat it in three tries which was less than the monstropolis boss somehow, shotlock and thunder are great. also food is OP
Is it worth doing KH3 with the difficulty parameters blind or is it just lunacy?
Of course its worth it.
Doing it blind makes the victory all the more glorious.
The Pro Codes? If you have them all on, 90% of your options are completely disabled.
They're wiener and ball torture for people who make no damage YouTube videos.
At most, turn on a couple that you would want to do anyway, like No Kupo Coins or something
>he doesn't get platinum on every KH game
That's just being crazy because unless you know how the fights work it's very frustrating to figure out what to do.
DARKNESS WITHIN DARKNESS
X-BLADE!
>is tan
>hates light
???
Ganker heart was taken the day "Submit" got turned into "Post".
Any Deckgays here? Is there a way to make the games 16:10?
Theres no excuse for the amount of cutscenes KH2 has.
It is actively making me put down the controller after every fight
Stop being disingenuous. Every KH game is like that.
Kh1 cutscenes are like 5 hours at most
Kh2 is nearly tripled that
I don’t mind because every line is unintentionally hilarious.
>It is actively making me put down the controller after every fight
the good news is you can! after every single fight in the entire game, simply put down the controller as three minutes of cutscenes play!
I don't even remember playing KH because of now nonsensical it was but the memes always slap
Do they ever explain why he has the Heartless emblem even if he's a Pureblood? Or why he's the only humanoid heartless?
He created the emblem. So he wears it.
>Or why he's the only humanoid heartless?
Jesus christ play the game.
I played it more than a decade ago and haven't kept up with the newer games. Was it thanks to his experiments with hearts and stuff?
Just fashion, he has not emblem in his shadow form, only after he possessed Riku
>why he's the only humanoid heartless
he's initially shown as a formless entity, we only see him get his humanoid heartless form after he possesses riku
>Do they ever explain why he has the Heartless emblem
Its not actually on his chest, he sewed a patch between the lapels of his jacket.
>Do they ever explain why he has the Heartless emblem even if he's a Pureblood?
Fashion preference.
>Or why he's the only humanoid heartless?
Isn't Sora basically a heartless until KH2?
in KH1, kairi restores him pretty much instantly after he turns into a heartless
this is why roxas has no memories of being sora
Finished KH1 earlier today, i forgot this annoying fricker and his laser spam.
>kh1gays are obsessed with a game that can't even fix simple bugs after a thousand rereleases
"I wonder if I can unlock the door to the Darkness in Sonic's Heart of Light. Wait, did I just suffer a stroke?"
You would knowingly shackle your heart… to a CHAIN OF MEMORIES-
>filters you
I can't decide if this wienersucker is worse in KH1 or KH2.
Easily KH2.
KH1 Seph is easy as frick.
KH1 in KH2 is a joke
KH1 seph is a joke. His first two phases are easy as frick and his final phase can be cheesed with strike raid spam.
KH2 Seph is actually tough if you fight him when you are supposed to.
>KH1 is easy if you cheese with iframe spam
>KH2 is hard if you don't use the controls
Wow. KH2 Seph is a complete bad joke that dies with just mashing triangle and parrying him, meanwhile KH1 seph can frick you spawning offscreen and erasing your HP and Mana before you can react
>dies with just mashing triangle
You mean the parry move that doesn't do any damage?
Have you actually played KH2?
Yes even the japanese Final Mix, Sephirot in 2 is nothing like his KH1 counterpart
It sounds like you never played it.
KH1 Seph is easy as frick.
Anytime he teleports off screen and tries to erase your hp/mana, you can easily lock on and throw strike raid to stop him.
Sounds more like you simply sucks if Seph in KH2 gives you problems with the amount of free jail movements you have there.
Tell me when you fight Seph in KH2? Do you fight him after beat the game, or do you fight him as soon as he is available?
>reflect
>KH2 Seph is actually tough if you fight him when you are supposed to.
>Parry and action button
Wow so hard
Harder than KH1 Seph. By a mile.
He's ridiculously easy in KH2
He's only easy if you fight him after beating the game. He's supposed to be fought after finishing Space Paranoids 2.
>Superboss
>a-actually you're SUPPOSED to fight him then and not then!
he's easy even on level 1, dont be a tard
First off, KH2 Seph is not a superboss.
Second, level doesn't matter in KH2. This is more proof you haven't actually played it.
proof of you being more of a tard, maybe lmao
ive done og 2, jpfm and the patched fm+ with most of my time being in fm+ and sat through lv1 kingdom key for the whole game, fighting sephiroth asap or at the end of the game makes literally 0 difference outside of MAYBE some QoL
>Second, level doesn't matter in KH2
yes it does dumbass
there's upper and lower bounds but you still do more damage if you level up compared to being level 1
>First off, KH2 Seph is not a superboss.
He is both a story and superboss.
He's not a superboss because he is not repeatable.
All other superbosses in 2 are repeatable.
The damage you do in the KH2 Seph fight doesn't really matter. All that matters is that you can survive his attacks.
Nope. I'm convinced you didn't play it. Because having glide makes a huge difference in that fight. Especially in the last phase.
Sorry bro, your random definition of what is and isn't a superboss doesn't apply. He is severely more challenging than any normal boss in KH2 and has a ton of HP bars. Superboss.
aerial dodge is infinitely more useful than glide is in that fight, which you would know if YOU actually played it instead of watching youtube videos of the fight only 🙂
>The damage you do in the KH2 Seph fight doesn't really matter.
this is the dumbest sentence anyone has ever typed
>All that matters is that you can survive his attacks.
which is based on the defense and hp that you get by leveling
>Because having glide makes a huge difference in that fight.
just reflect the stupid suck up attack or use a limit to i-frame through it
>level doesn't matter in KH2
You don't get leaf bracer, second chance, or once more at lower levels so you are wrong
You only need that shit if you are bad at the game.
You said it doesn't matter. Clearly it does.
It doesn't matter because i'm not bad at the game 🙂
You acknowledge it would be easier with them, therefore it does in fact matter
Nah I turn off leaf bracer, second chance and once more before i do the fight after finishing space paranoids 2.
what does that have to do with what that anon said
you turning them off doesn't mean they won't make the fight infinitely easier you monkey
Not for me 🙂
you do not matter in this
if leaf bracer, once more and second chance can save you from frickups, they objectively make the fight easier and therefore matter
personal skill has no place in this
This argument doesn't matter.
The simple fact is KH2 Seph is harder than KH1 Seph which is easy as frick.
I've never argued against that, i agree even
Darkness of the Unknown 2
objectively wrong
KH2 Sephiroth is easier despite being more powerful. His attacks are faster and cover a wider area, but Sora's superior mobility combined with the smaller battlefield mean that Sephiroth can't keep up. Sora's toolkit is also superior. Between reflega, Trinity, and limit form, Sephiroth doesn't stand a chance. He's way harder in 1 where you're less mobile and Sephiroth has more room to work.
He's literally RNG in KH1 without cheesing it with leaf bracer
>uses fire pillar nuke
>30 times in a row
Heh, nothing personnel kid.
Should I pick the staff or the shield? Does it really matter that much
yes, shield will give you leaf bracer and second chance much earlier than you'd usually get them
rod will give you +1 MP, which directly affects the strength of your spells (but the major downside is that you get second chance at an insanely late lvl 90)
there are also some other minor stat changes depending on what you take and what you sacrifice but these are pretty obvious
i personally go with rod every time but if it's your first playthrough shield might make the early-mid game a lot less painful
It actually matters a lot but both are good. minmax prefers staff.
Rod if you want a bad time, sword if you are a normal dude, shield if you want a easy time
>Rod if you want a bad time
Rod is literally the best choice.
More damage yes, but you don't get second chance and other defensive skills that can save your ass until much later
Second Chance is worthless if your defense is good.
There's simply nothing else like it.
glad to hear you enjoyed the game anon, that was a nice post to read
Is he a better character than Sora?
In CoM? Eh. He has predetermineed decks and Duels are OP.
>doesn't get brain damage to justify going back to level 1.
Yes, it's not even close.
He actually has a character arc.
Who isn't a better character than Sora?
>why couldn't we also have Riku in Smash?
Halloween Town will give you a good keyblade if you like to smack shit. It's quite long with high strength.
yes. he should be the protag in 4
He has an actual character arc. All he has left to do is frick Sora.
Riku would be the receiver, thoughbeit
This. Sora seems to me like an Astolfo type, if you know what I mean.
>Sora has actual character arcs too
Where?
>uhhh, are you sure this is the door to kingdom hearts goofy?
>A-HYUK, Sora trust me. Donald has done the research and you must trust the magic. Erect your keyblade and shoot dead center.
>Erect
>YOUR wiener SORA JAM YOUR wiener AT MY GAPING butthole YOU STUPID FRICK!
Goofy never said that.
Oathkeeper or Olympia?
Depends on whether you are magic focused or melee focused.
Why don't more games care about endgame like KH does? There's just so much good post game content in them.
might be a hold over from squaresoft idk
Simple and Clean
Sanctuary
Face my Fears
Choose
I choose Hikari, Passion and Chikai.
Hikari is a lot worse than Simple and Clean, Passion is almost as good as Sanctuary and Chikai is straight up better than Face My Fears.
Sanctuary > all
2>1>3
Huh... quality of the opening reflects the quality of the game...
3 has the best opening tho. Not the best song but the best video.
3's opening is just DDD's opening with a BBS segment at the start.
3's opening literally states it's 2.9
Kinda kino when you get the LH3 8.5
Hikari the orchestra arrangement of Simple and Clean. There's a reason they used it at the end of 3 and in the Smash trailer.
>Hikari the orchestra arrangement of Simple and Clean
Jesus christ.
The song is just called Hikari. And Simple and Clean is just english Hikari.
Man I was surprised when I booted Japanese KH today and learned that Simple and Clean had a Japanese counterpart. I thought the Japanese also listened to Simple and Clean because of how Engrish it was
Its the other way around anon. The Japanese song was written first. Then Disney forced her to rewrite the song in english and she hated having to do that.
Its why Simple and Clean (and all her english KH songs) sound so half-assed.
>Simple and clean (and all her english KH song) sound so half-hassed
Imagine being this wrong.
Compared to all her Japanese songs yes. Those songs sound half assed.
Sanctuary
Simple and Clean<Hikari (but still close) you're wrong.
From the thumbnail i thought Roxas or Ventus was wearing a skirt.
Anyway you have shit taste.
Have you ever listened to Hikaru's songs that weren't KH?
Not him, but I like Beautiful World in Rebuild of Evangelion 1.1.
I have, I stand by her best work being the english stuff, I also agree with the other guy that Beautiful world is good and Sakura Nagashi too.
>I stand by her best work being the english stuff
This has to be b8.
I've never seen an Utada fan that says this.
Wait until you notice that the reversed part in Sanctuary is still Japanese as she never bothered to change that. It's jarring once you notice.
Sanctuary is fricking terrible. Passion all the way.
Hikari and Simple and Clean are honestly equal but Hikari's lyrics actually make sense. Both versions of Face My Fears are okay. Oath and Chikai honestly feel like an extended song split into the two versions. Especially with their "Kiss me once, kiss me twice" segments being so different but perfectly meshing together.
Sanctuary is amazing what are you on?
I prefer the english version of her songs in general because her japanese is not native and you can fricking tell plus her japanese lyrics are always kinda average.
Disney forcing her to rewrite the songs for english generally has resulted in them being better overall lyrically and sound wise.
I do agree that you can tell her Japanese is not native.
>Then Disney forced her to rewrite the song in english and she hated having to do that.
Source?
https://www.khinsider.com/news/JETANNY-Interview-w-Utada-Hikaru-2547
>I think those songs are good but I didn't like having to change stuff and it's not ideal to me as a song writer
>This means I despise the songs and didn't put in any effort
I don't know how you can read that interview and come out of it with the idea that her creative spirit as a songwriter would let her half ass the songs.
I never once said she despised the songs.
I said she hated having to redo them in english.
Wait but there are interviews from before this where she says she wrote Sanctuary before Passion...huh?
Which is it?
Based Disney. Thanks to them we have such quotable lyrics.
Hikari/Simple and clean and then Passion/Sanctuary (i consider both japanese and english versions equally good).
Face my fears is complete trash though and it ruined what should have been an emotional and intense opening for the fricking ending of the xehanort arc with its fricking dubstep.
Was it perchance kino?
Yes.
Everything with the days crew involved is pure Kino.
?t=188
In a better world, we would've gotten Days on the PSP and BBS on the DS instead.
>The days crew
Stupid Xiongay
>The days crew
Genius Xionfriend
>It looks like my summer vacation is... over.
>Don't worry Sora, I'll help you find Kingdom Hearts... too.
I don't get it.
Why is he such a fantastic and classic Disney character?
He's a big scary monster but he's also a cute dork.
Why did you misgender my waifu Belle?
Is KH2 really the best? Why?
I had the most fun playing it
Arguably the best gameplay in the series, together with the least fricked story
Being able to mix magic, combos, summons and drives however you please is simply amazing
It's the very last time we see a competent sora, because every single game after release date of 2 sora gets more significantly moronic to justify your character being level 1.
He gets amnesia for any fricking reason or it's not really sora. It's fricking stupid and I hate it.
no. it's a degenerate mess where you either mash X the whole game or slap so many arbitrary restrictions on yourself that the only way to progress is spamming fully invincible attacks and chugging potions. the story is 98% filler and the rest feels like a bad bleach fan fiction.
organization 13 sucks
>t.Roxas, Axel, Xion, Sora
Is there a mod for steam KH2 that gives the JP voices back?
What fit will Kairi have in KH4? Think it’ll top KH2?
Whatever it is, I hope it's riddled with zippers.
Question is how large will the timeskip be? They're still about 15/16 in 3 right? The wall is fast approaching.
Depends on the hair style and if she puts the hood up. If it's 2's hair and she wears a cat ear hoodie, it will be the best one.
>For each numbered KH game, Nomura would give Kairi an Utada Hikaru hair style
Nice.
>Utada Hikaru is non binary now
Uh...
>Alyson Stoner, Kairi and Xion's current VAs also goes by They/Them
YAMERO!
Didn't utada get married to a neckbeard and later divorce him in the 2000's
I only remember her getting married to some guido.
Yeah with an Italian guy, then he decided to break up with her.
>Xion's VA literally becomes Xion who was literally a they/them and previously known as No. I, an imaginary number
KEKAROO
>is the most important thing in the universe in 1
>never mentioned again afterward
>...even though it's basically half of what the X-Blade is
Very unusual given Nomura will take the tiniest detail and make a whole game about it.
I expect this to appear more in Missing Link and other things just like the Heartless Machine that was later retconned into a time machine
This actually shows up during the Xehanort data fight when it fuses to create those cannons
>half of what the X-Blade is
Half isn't good enough.
>tfw Ansem had the memories of Xehanort all along
?t=216
>Kingdom Hearts! Fill me with the power of Darkness!
>doesn't fill him with the power of Darkness and he just dies
Maybe if he asked for light instead he would had gotten healthy and stronger.
No typically that just leads to gas lighting
I just realized I thought Maleficent was originally from Beauty and The Beast or Snow White, I didn't even know Sleeping Beauty was a thing, lul.
Materia grinding is bullshit.
KH1FM's grinding is definitely worse than vanilla, they added a lot of filler before Ultima Weapon to force you to fight the added mini-bosses over and over.
None of those special heartless are hard tho. Just annoying.
Do we like Axel?
Yes, we've got it memorized.
Yeah but he should've stayed dead
I personally prefer the blue one.
>Mfw the guitar kicks in on his 13th Dilemma remix in 3.
Absolute kino song
I like Axel but hate Lea
Yes even when Days killed a lot of his charm
Probably got a few thousand hours in KH2 at this point totalling from when it first released
Never touched KH3 at all and just bought the full set on Steam
What should i prepare myself for? Anything i need to know to not frick up my Crit run?
uninstalling, no joke
This mod is kinda cute but I don't think I'd like the inconsistency with the party members' portraits.
>spoiler
lucky for you, there's mods for that.

anyone got the image of sora typing a greentext up
>darkness
>not the light
>implying
Here
These things need some serious correction.
For me, it's the Tornado Steps.
Kingdom Hearts was made for _ _ _
I was excited to play chain of memories after kh1 because i never played it but after a few battles ive decided im just going to watch the cutscenes on youtube.

Have no shame about checking out a wiki to see where you can get some cool sleights or cards.
>all those unique cards you can only get by watching 358/2 first
who the frick's gonna do that?
Don't get them then. The game is easily broken in half with certain sleights.
Ansem was fully aware he was just larping
So why was ansem such a chad but the other xehanorts were nerds, old or shitters?
Because Xehanort was mostly darkness so of course his darkness would just be him at his best, diluted to perfection.
Reminder that the main bad guy is literally der coomer.
MASTER COOMINORT
He's good with his fingers.
mf i have his almost exact hairline and style rn
t. been groing my mane for 6 years and i cut the front because i dont wanna bald so easily on the front side
Guys, didn't you know your not allowed to like Kingdom hearts? its cringe. Also, Disney is evil, and was never good. Mickey mouse sucks big fat wiener. Loony tunes was better.
I'd like KH more if it was just convoluted Nomurashit the entire time. The disney shit just gets in the way at this point.
So you just want a normal JRPG?
>implying any JRPG comes close to Nomura Kino
ok. So you just want FF7 remake trilogy then? Or....Let me guess. Your salty about Versus XIII?
>Your salty about Versus XIII?
it's a kingdom hearts thread and that was a kingdom hearts game
everyone is salty
Versus XIII with improved KH2FM gameplay would've been THE 10/10 game
You really think Nomura was capable of delivering salient political takes even if KH2 gameplay was servicable for Versus
Versus was KH2 meets Ivalice. Nomura even got the Gambit system programmer, the monster biome designer, writers from FF12 and Vagrant Story's cutscene director.
Naw FF7 remake doesn't come close.
>Your salty about Versus XIII
Who wouldn't be?
But the disney stuff is really cool.
Nomura is so fkn closeted it's not even funny
>Nomura
>gay
>anon has gay feelings
>projects them onto others
>two of Master Xehanort's English VAs have died
>third one is already super old as frick
Is this the most cursed VA role in the game?
A lot of them are weird. Aqua's VA is a fricking bawd with sex tapes out
You have my attention. Does she put the Aqua role to use for the lewds?
No, she is just a loose woman. She has plenty of nudes she shot herself and at least two sex tapes last time I checked. It's pretty nonchalant too, she photographed a dude while he was eating her out and shit, can't even be mad at her she just likes sex.
Noted. Hope she makes a cosplay vid some day.
At least for Xehanort it just sounds like they pick people as old as he looks.
Honestly the second VA for Xehanort was bad, I really like Doc as Xehanort, is it bad to say I'm happy we got him?
Thankfully the japanese VA (which is the real version) was replaced with his son. Who does a perfect impersonation of him.

W-WHO ARE YOU
Someone from the dark (lmao)
YOU CAN'T BE... RIKU???
Riku? I defeated a Riku once
YOU WAHT? (lmao)
Tell me; tell me why he picked you.
*screeeeee*
*wack*
*jump*
*wack*
I see.... that's why.
I can only see the video of two guys fighting in the snowy parking lot, sorry.
Just finished Agrabah in KH1, which world should I do next, disregarding the difficulty meter
>Monstro
>Atlantis
>Halloween Town
Halloween Town for the entertainment. Only go to Monstro or Atlantis if you want to get them out of the way.
Atlantis rewards you a really good MP boosting keyblade. But it's Atlantis, so do it after the other two so you at least have a bit of a level boost by then.
>Atlantis rewards you a really good MP boosting keyblade
Guess I'll do that first then
Anon I wouldn't be so sure if I was you
I'm sure I'll be fine
Ursula isn't that bad of a fight.
Plus I'm sure anon can handle the jank swimming controls
The only part that really threw me off a lot was the constant lightning attacks. Those swimming controls really did not make dodging that easy.
Chernabog is where I actually just quit the game entirely for years. That boss was just fricking unfair
Both are just shitty DPS tests. With Ursula equipping lightning res helps and during Chernabog fire res helps a lot as well.
It's just really shitty to have an involved combat system dumbed down to just hitting a big face until it dies.
Did you do it yet?
Oh I forgot about this thread, I competed the level but got no new keyblade, guess I should've mentioned I'm playing the PS2 1FM version oh well.
That is unless I missed something? Doubt it though.
After you defeat the giant Ursula you need to go back Ariel's grotto to seal the keyhole.
Oh. This isn't embarrassing at all... Good thing I was just fricking around in Monstro after that.
follow the stars on the planets/worlds/whatever
Follow your heart.
getting sick of the "atlantica is bad" meme
I personally think it's soulful, second Ursula boss is just annoying.
Navigating is gay anus sex
First one is also annoying
Atlantis battle theme makes me gitty. I love KH1 so much bros.
I meant Atlantica. Sorry for my moronation.
It is absolute insanity that they just loop under the sea the entire time you're there.
too bad gay
>voiced by Billy Zane
Gave me a shock in the end credits for sure. Shame he didn't come back for the rest of the series. He nailed it.
He called out a israelite or something and got blacklisted, can't be helped.
Fellas, I love these games but the lore and plot makes me want blow my fricking brains out. I legitimately cannot believe how moronly convoluted this plot is, but then again that's just all nip games
>the lore and plot makes me want blow my fricking brains out
Do it homosexual.
Why do people want remakes of the mediocre DS games which just re-use the worlds from the PS2 games anyways? I think Square made the right call just making cutscenes for the games. Imaging retreading the worlds again with the worst gameplay. Chain of Memories is the most interesting one that does this.
ReCoded is great. And 358/2 could easily be turned into a good game if they tried, the story atmosphere and concept are all top notch.
What was Nomura on to remember this random piece of scenery, and make it a plot significant item in UX
Did he make a D-Link with Oda?
He's the anti Akira Toriyama where one forget main characters like Lunch, Yamcha or Ten shin han the other remember random furniture from 22 years ago
>random piece of scenery
I know it was really, really late into KH1, but its presence was never random. That you were taken there and shown those capsules during the finale meant they were important, even back then.
Is the 1+2 bundle on steam worth getting if I don't care about Disney and Final Fantasy but like action games?
Are you new or something? KH2FM is considered top tier action kino. It's anime DMC.
Yes. The Disney worlds are fun to traverse but very few of the characters are actually important. The Final Fantasy characters are alt universe versions, you don't need to know the 'real' games at all to get the characters.
>Want to play KH3 critical mode again because most of the game was fun
>But i'm an absolute shitter who can't do crit limit cut and rage quit at Xion last time
I wish I could turn the difficulty down at the very end of the game honestly.
Come one Xion wasn't that bad, Riku on the other hand
KH3 as a whole filters me on critical because fights are just way too damn big. I hit a guy 3 times and get clipped from the side and die.
Arenas are as big as a football stadium and there are two dozen guys 4 of which shoot projectiles.
DARKNESS DARKNESS DARKNESS
Is it worth getting the whole collection or just 1.5/2.5?
The whole thing is at 56 in insta gaming and green luma
Does he know?
>darkness
That's what Nomura said about Versus XIII
>the way Billy Zane Ansem chuckles to himself as he says "All shall be extinguished!"
It's the little things.
Does the combat/rpg mechanics hold up?
For 1, no.
For 2, yes.
Both yes.
You're a homosexual gay.
Do people really hate Slow-motion? I just started DDD and it's fun as absolute frick to bounce off the walls and zip around the maps effortlessly.
Flowmotion*
>Do people really hate Slow-motion
Stellagay does
>Stellagay
Who?
I like it
>cheeses your superboss gauntlet
>didn't pick dusk
>leveling to 100
wow this fricking sucks
tried to warn you stupid aqua poster
also it's dead of night double stupid aqua poster
What did you pick?
>picked night
>just hit 40
IT BEGINS
KH2 really is just a sequence of enemies catching you in unbreakable stunlocks and command grabs that effectively one-hit you in Critical Mode, isn't it?
>getting hit on crit
I can forgive the Dancers but nothing else
Yeah, right now it's the dancers. No idea how to counter them.
The entire series is just a fricking downslide.
>and it needlessly convolutes things
Did you play Chain of Memories?
>And I guess that being praised it what led to KH3
Opposite actually. Nomura has stated that the negative reaction to reaction commands is what led to them doing the Situation Commands instead.
And KH3's levels being ridiculously huge stems from the complaints of KH2's level design being super linear.
The big praises of 2FM only came in the second half of the last decade, when everyone got to play a good version of it on PS4. And now that Nomura knows that people actually enjoy 2FM and its systems, he put reaction commands back in KH4.
Yeah, well, that's just like your opinion man
The enemy fricks you up until you frick them back baby
Don't recover. You later get abilities that keep you alive at 1hp as long as you're still stunlocked.
oh god someone please
how do i build a decent fricking gummiship in 1
all my guns shoot to the sides aaaaaa
Thunder shoots straight
Thundara shoots to both sides
Thundaga is a missile that shoots ever 3 seconds or so
What you want is 1 thunder, 1 thundara and as many lasers (comet-g/meteor-g) as possible. The lasers are shot by pressing triangle and they destroy everything with ease while auto-aiming for you.
