it's worse than the originals so it has no value to existing fans. other than klonoa 3 as hostage bait.
if you're new and you play the shit versions first then it will ruin the experience. you will perceive klonoa games to be lower quality than they actually are. the fact alone that all the facial and lipsinc animation is gone and replaced with generic mouthflaps and broken expressions on the shitty cheap character models that fail to emote according to each scene totally decimates the story and that's not even going into the other visual glitches and huge changes the atmosphere that don't fit.
I would urge anyone new to absolutely play the originals first.
PSX
it had some really beautiful spritework that's been lost to time.
Also PSX is the only version i've seen where the 'dying forest' ACTUALLY looks like a dying forest
Honestly they should have just give us the wii remake with gibberish with the psx original being a unlockeable extra, and klonoa 2 just port the PS2 version with widescreen and bigger resolution.
PS1 has the best custscenes and story presentation.
the wii ruins that but has better art during gameplay.
the levels are already much brighter and more colourful than the original but if you're a fricking tasteless piece of shit who think they're still not bright enough you can apply a bloom shader or turn the gamma all the way up like the garbage ports except without all their other glitches and problems.
The lighting sucks, there's missing textures and assets, animations are completely broken, it was clearly made by pajeets and two of them are shilling it hard 24/7.
Don't buy it, let it die, just get a kirby game instead unless you're that much of a furpedo.
Performs worse than either of the 2 other entries and is a rushjob from a known lazy studio. Klonoa 2 especially looks frickawful. I was looking forward to this immensely but this is incredibly disappointing. Refunded because it microstutters out the ass in a way that'd make a launch FromSoft game blush.
It's less of a remaster and more of a visual mess assets flip made for mobile where all the assets and colors clash.
It's a shame because all they really had to do was maybe brighten the washed out Wii remake a little bit and add the gibberish language of the original game. Polish the gameplay here and there but stay faithful to the games, going with Klonoa 2 as the reference point to how 1 should look aesthetically.
Instead they fricked up both games in the most sloppy manner possible.
I honestly dont know why i keep giving these companies the benefit of the doubt, more often than not these games are a fricking disaster.
Every once in a while they are good (C&C Remaster, etc.) but it is the exception.
>$50 for a slightly touched up port of the wii remake
it's shit and soulless just play the originals tbh
this is the first time I've played a Klonoa game and I think it's adorable, AND I'm having fun. Yeah it's a bit pricey but I think it's worth it. Just buy it and refund it if you don't like it in the first two hours, dude.

This argument was fine for the Wii remake because it was clearly aimed at a different audience. This collection is supposed to be a celebration of the franchise and it's clear that it's just a low rent nostalgia cash grab. Of course you have no standards if you have zero frame of reference and you're coming to it for the first time.
>I would urge anyone new to absolutely play the originals first.
I played Klonoa PS1 last month and that game is exactly why I have zero interest in playing the sequel/remake/remasters. Game was fricking boring and bordering on tedious in later levels.
God, would it kill them to add something to separate the color palettes from the foreground and background just a little? It's complete visual overload.
Even the original versions knew how to avoid this briliantly (at least DtP did, LV was hit or miss, but that still isn't an excuse). Are they fricking blind?
That's a Capcom-style game though. When it comes to Bamco, their fighting games are usually either Tekken-like or Arena Fighters, or sometimes both in the case of Pokken. They haven't done a 2D fighting game in ages, FighterZ notwithstanding considering it's outsourced.
Though, it would be neat if we got a Bamco X Capcom fighting game...

Klonoa 2 both looks way better and has better controls than Klonoa 1 in this release. Though I never played the Wii version so I don't know if the slightly messy controls are carried over from that.
>original has the antagonist shrouded in darkness, adding to the mystery which will be revealed later on >remake is just fullbright because frick it.
Lazy.
>Let's not pretend like Klonoa's story is deep or impactful enough for a lighting change like this to fricking matter in the least.
2's gets quite a bit more elaborate than 1. Look at the text boxes, they say ??? for a reason. If it was originally directed to have those characters shrouded in darkness so you only see their silhouettes so it adds to the mystery then that's how it should be presented.
You don't frick it up in the remake by making everything fullbright because you spent 5 minutes applying a lighting model and making delierate artistic oversights like this.
>runs like dogshit and is poorly optimized
Runs at 4k 60fps on PS5, XSX and any non shit GPU. Only the Switch struggles with it despite running it at like 720p, but that's expected from toy hardware.
"running" at 4k60fps doesn't mean that frames are necessarily paced well. Which they aren't. Which is kind of important for a platformer. Not a huge deal, but it adds to the evidence that this was a low effort rushjob.

3 times a day, morning, noon and night
Morning would be a bedfest frick, best of 5 rounds on who cums first. Loser has to walk around with no clothes on with the scent of cum from the activity hanging in the air constantly.
Then in the noon we'll have a nice picnic and anal endeavor, with the evening being a "frick me to sleep" deal.
Perfectly romantic in every way
Regardless you don't need literary depth for the lighting to be important in setting the mood. Plenty of children's books and movies require darker and moodier lighting. There are plenty of games I'd agree with you on the lightning not really mattering, but Klonoa 2 is one of the games I find it to be most important in.
Klonoa drug dealing simulator.
You sell crushed gems to Moos in the back alleys of Volk City. Moos use them to get high and eat a bunch. And that is how giant Moos are made.
You have to make bank while avoiding the giant mechs, gunfire from Volk City, and Garlen
It really is, the last noteworthy one we got as a free-to-play shitfest with microtransactions and battle pass bullshit. I honestly feel bad for Chocobo Racing fans.

Meet Klonoa. He's wacky. He flaps his over-sized when you team up with Klonoa. He's the star in ears to fly. He's the fantasy creature from Namco's new action-adventure game in a 3-D Phantomile. And he inflates the bad guys until zany landscape. At least now you know there's they blow up. Yikes! No one stands a chance someone outside your family who's a stranger.
Okay I can understand most of the plot points of Klonoa 1, but can somepony explain the intro sequence to me.
>Klonoa finds the Wind Ring and Huepow appears >Darkness approaches and he wakes up from this dream >For some reason Huepow was real and is in a bed next to him >No reaction to the fact that this this in real now
The entire opening of the game is a dream sequence that's being manipulated by Huepow to create a false memories of friendship and family in Klonoa's head to convince him to save Phantomile
Well, Huepow and Grandpa were working together. According to one of the guidebooks, he came to him after Ghadius broke free to come up with a plan. He feels bad for putting Grandpa in danger.
I said last thread to farm 1-1 for 5 lives every 2 level clears if you get all 150 gems+extra life in the level since the level is quick and easy to memorize.
NO.
Who the frick at Namco had such a raging hard one for the minor boss of the handheld Klonoa game that they had to shoehorn him into every single Klonoa game they could get away with.
It goes beyond creative bankruptsy. They genuinely thought he stood out enough from the existing cast and had a strong enough iconic marketable value to 5 fricking games with a bigger role each time.
He's a cancer. is what he is. He's a true definition of cancer!
>Tell me about Klonoa, why didn't she became a huge franchise like Sonic and Mario
They made 2 mainline games and stopped. If they shoved out enough content it would probably be more well known outside of furry homosexuals.
Klonoa 1: Ends with Klonoa leaving everyone he knows in that world and never coming back

No advertising during the era of the mascot platformers when he should have succeeded, meaning he never had a chance in the later eras except for the cult following and furries.
A word people were using to dismiss more platformer characters being added to Smash, then it became mainstream and people used it to mention characters they like.
Well, now that he's president, he could push them to get off their asses and work harder. After what happened with Balan, I'm sure this is a good wakeup call for his team.
Still zero.
I'd rather they use whatever story they came up with as the base for a Klonoa 3 and have Hitoshi Ariga do a manga adaptation of the first two games anyways.
>that animation
God he looks so ugly. I distinctively remember as a kid I put off from playing Klonoa 2 because I didn't like his redesign.
His original 1997 design is still, to this day, the objectively superior one. There was no need at all to take a page out of Sonic's book. It just ruined him like it ruined Sonic.
The big difference between Klonoa and Sonic's redesigns is that they went out of their way to keep Klonoa's cuteness intact while making him a bit cooler. Sonic dropped his cute elements entirely.
Anonymous
While I do understand, I think it worked to his detriment.
Trying to get the best of both worlds kind of made him to appeal to neither.
Like you said, Modern Sonic lost all its cuteness, but gained a more laser-focus on the cool factor. I still prefer the Classic design anyday of the week of course, but making the jump headfirst from one to the other rather then trying both worked more in Modern Sonic's favor in the longterm.

I think it helped a little at the time, since cuteness was seen as unmarketable outside of Japan back then. I definitely remember people talking about 2 more than 1 in the 2000's.

The fricking annoying thing is that this is for Physical releases only. Not Digital.
I would say that they used more blue and made him taller in order to make him more serious/older because they knew, at that point, they were competing with much more teen-oriented games on the PS2 so they had to, like, make sure the older boy who is playing is affirmed or some shit. So less cute, more serious/driven expression, more blue so you know he's a boy. That's how marketing works, but its stupid.
If i have it borderless windowed and have the graphics down to mid, i can play it at 1440p at about 50fps. I don't know what the fricking deal is, as I'm running FFVII-R on high at 1440p60. Other than the hiccup to start with, it's fun, and i'll play it some more at the weekend.
I don't get why Huepow needed to frick with Klonoa's head like that. In the sequel, the people straight up tell him he was just summoned to the world and Klonoa was happy to help out because of his personality. Did Huepow really neeed to mindfrick Klonoa to get him to help or are the Moon Kingdom filled with people who have a 'Control over others' fetish? [/spoilers]
The original story was inspired by the original Blade Runner, what with fake memories in replicants. So Klonoa is a Dream Replicant, doing as he is told and trying to save dreams because that is what he is programmed to do.
The only reason the original game has such a powerful emotional punch to it that it left a certain doggo in absolute tears playing it is because of this twist. That despite the manipulation, they actually did become real friends in the end and can never see each other again. That is the tragedy of it all.
>they actually did become real friends in the end and can never see each other again
I fail to see how they're 'True Friends' where even in the ending he's still affected by the mindfrick Huepow did. If only Huepow erased the false memories at like, say, after Gandpa died and then they actually still got close regardless that would have more weight. But as is, Huepow is just a scumbag.
>But as is, Huepow is just a scumbag. Which is why he is isolated in Hyuponia, a ruined Moon Kingdom, and has been eternally lamenting alone as the King of Sorrow.
Huepow desperately tries to hold on and keep Klonoa in the same world because he is now emotionally attached to him after all they have been through and all those memories they made together on their adventure were also real.
That's more one-sided then them being close; Klonoa still believes in the false memories. Huepow probably wants Klonoa to stick around, sure, but as a friend or just as a Phantomile Security System with even more mind manipulation?
Anonymous
It is pretty obvious Huepow feels guilty about what he did at the end, but has no way to make amends because Klonoa can't stay in his world anymore.
This is only reinforced in future media where Huepow is shown to be friends with Klonoa still. Why you seem so focused on making Huepow into an irredeemable villain I have no idea.

>Why you seem so focused on making Huepow into an irredeemable villain I have no idea.
Because the sequel showed us that Huepow didn't need to do ANY OF THAT SHIT to get Klonoa to help him. And yet he can compelled to basically mindfrick a little kid just to get his way, where if you just explained things to him like what the Lunatea people did, Klonoa would have been happy to help out anyway due to his heroic nature. Huepow needed to feel like he was the one holding Klonoa's oversized leash.
Oh huh. Maybe that's why Klonoa in DtP has a stupid leash and Klonoa in LV doesn't have one.

Have you ever experienced a betrayal in your own life, anon?
A theory I like is Klonoa is literally you, the player becomes the dream traveller every time they play. In that sense we were the ones being lied to and manipulated. You needed a fake story to make you engage with the game. Not the little fuzz ball himself. By the second game you've accepted the role so just go with it.
Wasn't that confirmed by the game's director? I remember hearing that according to him, Klonoa is meant to be an avatar for the player and every time you boot up the game is you entering the dream world.
That's the official explanation by Hideo Yoshizawa and the rest of the staff.
I didn't want to say for sure as it'd mean digging up the tweet. Plus I don't think he confirmed some of the bigger implications of it in terms of what it meant for 1's story
I know it's summer but don't you have anything better to do then just shit up on topic because you're feeling bad right now? If you want something 'based' just go try out Street Fighter 3 Third Strike. With your level of intelligence it should take you the rest of summer just to get a handle on parrying.
Stop b***hing about price. Just pirate. Play and enjoy. Or purchase. Don't b***h about price, ever.
If they wanted to make a new game in the series they would have rather than a remake. Your purchase won't have any significant impact.
Milquetoast remake. Monkey Ball-tier. Kinda like the Wii-remake was also kind of inferior in lots of ways. See how there's no new monkey ball game? Yet there's 100s of new custom levels for it you could play. Why not design your own klonoa levels?
Not even man enough to reply to me manually. But seriously, pick up a fightan game. You need to self-improve to get good at them, and frick me you need alot of that.
Graphics suck but the gameplay is fun and the games seem stable with little to no glitches. That's my opinions at least, there is a chance someone else may have run into some bugs but I have yet to.
It's a good option but not the best option for both games, but very accessible. It's the Sonic Origins situation but far more understandable and way less shoddy. Overpriced but a reasonable option.
You know, for $40, the absolute LEAST they could've done was include the GBA games.
I haven't played them since my preteens but I recall them being really fricking good for what they are.
If you mean emulated, yeah, that's a reasonable ask.
If you mean ported, that's unironically asking a lot because of how GBA games were handled (almost all were written in assembly, source code/programmer notes long missing by this point, etc).
If they were going to go that far, I'd imagine they'd have enough budget to actually properly port PS1 K1 and recreate all the effects from K2.
They would absolutely be emulated, not only because of the issues you mentioned but also because it would save them a shitton of money. The remakes were already on the smaller end in terms of budgets.
Namco clearly don't have that much faith in Klonoa, looking at the still 5th gen-looking remaster. They don't even look bad imo but they still look like Wii games. Just an upscaled emulated collection for all the games would've been better if Namco wanted to cheap out.
I agree, but I think the issues plaguing Klonoa 2 in terms of emulation probably had them reconsidering the emulation angle. They probably said something like "Shit, this Klonoa game is a massive pain in the ass to emulate right. Just take the assets from the Wii remake and change the models a bit."
That's my point, yeah.
If they had the budget to port GBA, they'd have K1 and 2 without compromise. Actual ports and translations for MM, EoD, DCT and Heroes would justify a standalone $30-40 pack of its own.
I enjoyed the remaster. Maybe it's mostly nostalgia speaking but being able to play it again so many years later is great. I remember my dad coming home from work after a month where we hadn't seen each other and he brought a copy of Klonoa and a Playstation with him. Played it for a day and a night together before he was off for another few weeks.
Wish the old men were still alive but playing this game still brings me joy despite its obvious flaws.
>"This guy looks like he could help us!" >"But how do we ask him?" >"Surely no one would ever risk their lives to save a world they're not from" >"I know, I'll give him fake memories of living here" >"And I'll play the role of his childhood friend to stick close to him and help guide him" >"Not because I'm lonely living in a castle that's sealed away underground or anything"
There.
>the only one that knows Klonoa's true origins because he summoned him is now in a restored perfect world where he marries Lephise as his queen when he becomes King Huepow
Life just isn't fair. Not even in dreams.
>Bamco contracts a known lazy studio to slap together the wii version and a low effort PS2 remake into an overpriced collection for ez nostalgia money >even if it sells decently there's no way they're actually going to make a Klonoa 3, and even if they did, they would commission Monkeycraft to frick it up anyway >morons running around screaming "U HAVE TO BUY THIS OTHERWISE WE WON'T GET MORE KLONUSSY!"
Monkeys paw.
>proud shiteater
What discord, schizo? You're exactly the reason why companies like Activision and Bamco continue to get away with this shit. You're not getting a Klonoa 3 no matter how much you convince people to pay full price for lazy port jobs of 20 year old games.
>How does the second game compare to the first?
More of the same but improvements here and there. >Does it emulate well?
Kinda if you're not an epileptic and can handle graphical glitches.
They can just recast Lolo with that one girl who took up all of her other roles when she died.

I just realised that it's even missing the crescent moon ornaments at the side of every screen transition. Everything about this collection screams that it was done under a 4 month 6-8 month deadline with a shoestring budget and people who didn't care.
You know, it's surprising to see a Klonoa thread where people AREN'T trying to wahoo in the cabbit's manyas. Or grope her wahoobas if you go that route.
>Any tips on beating stage 3 with the spinning triangle will be appreciated.
That's not the final boss. But I'll help anyways.
Run in and hit the angles of the triangle to release the Moos inside. Grab them and finish him off.
If somehow a new Klonoa game came out of this, should it stay as 2.5D or should it go the Forgotten Land route and go 3D? Or maybe a hybrid of the two ala Modern Sonic?
wtf is wrong with the model in Lunatea's Veil? Is the head covering his neck? Something is off with Klonoa's design and it's making my tism sense go haywire.
Did some snooping around in the files. I think that the game is, or at least partially, hobbled together from the original Klonoa 2.
The folder that interests me is KLONOA/Klonoa_Data/StreamingAssets/Klonoa2/StandaloneWindows64
Currently looking at a copy of Klonoa 2 for the PS2 and seeing any similarities, but if the hypothesis is correct (maybe they had the source for Klonoa 2?) some effects could be restored from the original game.
>(maybe they had the source for Klonoa 2?)
They did have the source code. But couldn't port any of the lighting from the code, and had to do something stupid with shaders that obviously didn't work well.
>(maybe they had the source for Klonoa 2?)

Let's hope. I'd love a hybrid that combines the higher poly assets with the aesthetics of the original.
Bad news.
It seems looking through the whole of the Klonoa 2 remake files, a lot of the models seemed to have been ripped from the original game (or grabbed from source) and had shaders applied to them in the unity engine.
They were using this: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/vfx/shaders/toony-colors-pro-2-8105
So, what this means is that if you want the "restored" lighting, one would have to actually reverse engineer and decompile the unity project, or figure out a way to inject shaders "on the fly" so a person could tweak the lighting in game. Both of which are very work intensive.
I was hoping it was simpler than that.
So, seemingly:
>Models are old >Textures are new >Shaders are new >Sound and BGM seem to be a weird mix of old and new.
I think modding the game might be a huge hassle, as well. Last I checked unity game modding was a bit much.
But hey, on the bright side, more people are now getting into the series and playing the old games.
Oh and after 20 years, the Klonoa JP only games finally got an English translation thanks to remasters by making Klonoa relevant again.

It's a lose-lose situation. It's an objectively overprice, lazy port. But I've seen people out there screaming that you must buy it because Bamco dangled the possibility of a sequel in front of people again.
It's not going to happen. It's going to be a shenmue 3 situation. IF the possibility arises that they do commission a sequel, it's going to be so mediocre and sell poorly enough for them to put the franchise back into the vault. I blame normies for eating up that shit crash collection and convincing publishers they can ride the nostalgia cash grab wave again. The only one that was actually decent was the Spyro collection but even then it's clear they misunderstood parts of the assignment artistically. Crash collection was artistically unity stock asset tier but it was also compromised in controls for the first game.
It's pretty hard to frick up Klonoa from a gameplay standpoint, so the only thing that you can really get wrong is the artistic direction when doing the remake. And it's quite evident that there are spots all over 1 and 2 that they clearly misunderstood even the basics.
It's a bit sad reading the Steam reviews watching fans defend this steaming pile of shit for a "remaster". Buying this isn't going to get us Klonoa 3 and even if it did, it would just be another half-assed game like this game.

LMAO where is that klonoa shill that always posts in pacman threads now? This "remaster" is absolute garbage compared to museum+
It's utterly soulless shit, refunded immediately and went to play the original instead.
>crappy 3d unity game >runs like dogshit and is poorly optimized >easy mode that completely shits on the original's design >game disrupting popups on every 5 fricking seconds during the gameplay made for morono people (hey did you know you can jump, hey did you know x, hey did you know y FRICKING SHUT THE FRICK UP ALREADY and let me play the game). >are people fricking used to these popup style notifications in games that completely block everything now? is it because of social media? fricking humanity needs to fricking die already
yeah it took me <2 minutes to uninstall this crap
>this is the first time I've played a Klonoa game and I think it's adorable, AND I'm having fun.
Of course you have no standards if you have zero frame of reference and you're coming to it for the first time.
can you have a nice day already worthless samegay spammer?
put a fricking bullet in your head you moronic moron, this is my only post in this thread
>crappy 3d unity game >runs like dogshit and is poorly optimized >easy mode that completely shits on the original's design >game disrupting popups on every 5 fricking seconds during the gameplay made for morono people (hey did you know you can jump, hey did you know x, hey did you know y FRICKING SHUT THE FRICK UP ALREADY and let me play the game). >are people fricking used to these popup style notifications in games that completely block everything now? is it because of social media? fricking humanity needs to fricking die already
>Are you just nostalgia driven by the older games or what?
Are you? why do you need a remake? the original exists and is a good game. It's right there.
>the original exists and is a good game. It's right there.
I have the game in storage because my TV doesn't have composite cables to play Lunatea's Veil on it via my PS2.
>it's fun
Klonoa is essentially Kirby. Of course it's fun, it's supposed to be easy breezy simple mechanical fun. Artistically though it's dogshit for a remake.
>i play a 2 hour game once and then never again, and my entire impression is based on this. i somehow think i am capable of contributing to discussion in any meaningful way and not a moron. also my opinions are correct because they just are okay
>i play a 2 hour game once and then never again, and my entire impression is based on this.
Right off the bat your post reeks of a lack of actual argument so it just accusing me of..not actually playing the game?. I first played Klonoa when it was actually relevant and have played it probably somewhere under two dozen times since then. The main game which was designed to be accessible to all ages.
The game has time trials baked into it. Are you moronic?
>The game has time trials baked into it. Are you moronic? >When your brain is so ADHD riddled that you can't see a game for what it is and only think about ways to blast through it so you can post times and circlejerk with other autists online
>Yes, really. There are no good kirby games.
Now that's just plain wrong. Or an opinion formed by someone who's only experience is playing Kirby 64 or something.
Just finished Klonoa 1, still a fantastic game for the most part with the feel of the controls perfectly retained.
Only real issue I have with this remake so far is that it doesn't look as good as the original at some points; cutscene animations look a bit weird and some of the backgrounds don't look as good.
Good stuff otherwise and I'm looking very forward to playing Klonoa 2 tomorrow. Frick that ending though, it still got a single tear out of me and Huepow is a bastard.
It's babbies first platformer, but the thing that was so great about the original game was that the atmoshphere and SOUL was through the roof because it was peak 90's NAMCO. I can see how anyone would play the wii remake or this collection and go >huh, that was fun and inoffensive I guess. Not sure what the hype is all about though.
>Playing through K1 >Now that I'm older I'm noticing all the little lines that are alluding to the ending
Neat, but also I'm getting increasingly sadder as I near the finish.
Why is there not a separate counter for how many gems you've gotten in a level?
Why ask for 150 - an amount that you UI doesn't display as it goes back to 0 after 99 and to top it off not reset your counter between levels?
When you're remaking a game I'd think the first thing on your mind would be little QoL changes like fixing this shit.
>When you're remaking a game I'd think the first thing on your mind would be little QoL changes like fixing this shit.
Then people would b***h about muh downgrade, git good, dumbed down, zoomer friendly, you didn't win the game, etc.
i though they would add another counter, but mechanically the only thing they added is that the puzzle pieces / dolls you collect on each level disappear wen you actually got them, very weird change. also chamber of fun opens at 6 dools, which is a joke lmao
>crappy 3d unity game >runs like dogshit and is poorly optimized >easy mode that completely shits on the original's design >game disrupting popups on every 5 fricking seconds during the gameplay made for morono people (hey did you know you can jump, hey did you know x, hey did you know y FRICKING SHUT THE FRICK UP ALREADY and let me play the game). >are people fricking used to these popup style notifications in games that completely block everything now? is it because of social media? fricking humanity needs to fricking die already
>crappy 3d unity game
nothing statement. do you hate all games with the engine? >runs like dogshit and poorly optimized
works on my machine, 4k 60fps on a 1080ti. >easy mode that shits on the original's design
then don't play it. >game disrupt popups
turn them off. it's an option in the option menu. >more popup ranting
this game is meant for all ages. this might be someone's first game.
>runs like dogshit and is poorly optimized
Runs at 4k 60fps on PS5, XSX and any non shit GPU. Only the Switch struggles with it despite running it at like 720p, but that's expected from toy hardware.
anyone here play the gba games? i've played the first to its entirety on my gba sp and it was really good. probably one of the more underrated platformers on there but i haven't touched the second yet
addendum: i haven't played klonoa heroes either because i was waiting for a full fan translation which finally came out pretty recently but i absolutely will soon
>I'm allowed to be a degenerate over a fictional character because bamco shat out a low rent portjob and nobody cares
Not how it works, furgay. Go yiff in private.
>but the games are fine gameplaywise
Because they were pretty braindead to begin with. Pretty hard to frick up a 2D sidescroller where most of the combat/platforming is essentially on rails.
klussy
>50 euros
>20 euros for...costume DLC?
Expensive, OP. Expensive.
It's literally 0 USD
>literally
Please, stop using this word. It's annoying.
Could be worse. If you loved the originals the redone graphics may bother you, but if its your first time than you won't notice anything really.
it's worse than the originals so it has no value to existing fans. other than klonoa 3 as hostage bait.
if you're new and you play the shit versions first then it will ruin the experience. you will perceive klonoa games to be lower quality than they actually are. the fact alone that all the facial and lipsinc animation is gone and replaced with generic mouthflaps and broken expressions on the shitty cheap character models that fail to emote according to each scene totally decimates the story and that's not even going into the other visual glitches and huge changes the atmosphere that don't fit.
I would urge anyone new to absolutely play the originals first.
What is better for the original, the PS1 or Wii?
PS1, without question.
And no, it is not the nostalgia talking. The original had this atmosphere that remains untouched by both remakes.
Just like with Star Wars movies, the older it is the better.
PSX
it had some really beautiful spritework that's been lost to time.
Also PSX is the only version i've seen where the 'dying forest' ACTUALLY looks like a dying forest
for comparison, this is how wii looks like
Honestly they should have just give us the wii remake with gibberish with the psx original being a unlockeable extra, and klonoa 2 just port the PS2 version with widescreen and bigger resolution.
THIS
They hated him because he told them the truth
furtrannies seething too hard at the truth lol
>that pathetic shilling
nice one klonoagays
trannies live rent free in your head
based
BASED
God damn it, I actually wanted this to be good.
Oh well, I can still emulate the 1st one.
Can you not form your own opinion?
He's emulating DtP
He clearly made a good decision
this lol
pírate this shit so that furpedos lose and all of their threads get deleted
Nobody is going to buy your shovelware remasters in our watch pajeet.
this is the first time I've played a Klonoa game and I think it's adorable, AND I'm having fun. Yeah it's a bit pricey but I think it's worth it. Just buy it and refund it if you don't like it in the first two hours, dude.

You'll get pajeets trying to defend this but nothing changes the fact that this is a shit remaster.
So this remake suffered the same fate as the spryo remakes. Frick I hate modern video games.
This
and this.
Nobody is going to buy this shit furpedo.
>Nobody is going to buy this shit furpedo
I bought it though
ALL of this is true and it's making pajeets cry.
based
based
based, keep it going, you're doing v a great service
put me in the screencap
Stop eating glue
Stop living troony.
Your furpedo game is dead now.
but you're still a Black person
>I would urge anyone new to absolutely play the originals first.
I played Klonoa PS1 last month and that game is exactly why I have zero interest in playing the sequel/remake/remasters. Game was fricking boring and bordering on tedious in later levels.
How the frick do I get good at double jump juggling?
>get good
You answered your own question, anon.
Strong fingers
>Klonoa doesn't tear up in the ending of Lunatea's Veil in the remaster
refunding it right now
are you for fricking real?
that's horrible
Klonoa sheds a single tear when saying thanks to Lolo in the original, which doesn't happen in the remaster.
God, would it kill them to add something to separate the color palettes from the foreground and background just a little? It's complete visual overload.
Even the original versions knew how to avoid this briliantly (at least DtP did, LV was hit or miss, but that still isn't an excuse). Are they fricking blind?
Lazy.
The demo was fun, but I'll probably wait for a sale
Soulless
That's a Capcom-style game though. When it comes to Bamco, their fighting games are usually either Tekken-like or Arena Fighters, or sometimes both in the case of Pokken. They haven't done a 2D fighting game in ages, FighterZ notwithstanding considering it's outsourced.
Though, it would be neat if we got a Bamco X Capcom fighting game...
Anyone got Klonoa fever?
Performs worse than either of the 2 other entries and is a rushjob from a known lazy studio. Klonoa 2 especially looks frickawful. I was looking forward to this immensely but this is incredibly disappointing. Refunded because it microstutters out the ass in a way that'd make a launch FromSoft game blush.
Oh look
This guy's here again.
You forgot to say something about Spyro.
Klonoa 2 both looks way better and has better controls than Klonoa 1 in this release. Though I never played the Wii version so I don't know if the slightly messy controls are carried over from that.
The Wii version controlled pretty good, from what I remember. I think they just rushed 1 and focused on remaking 2.
>original has the antagonist shrouded in darkness, adding to the mystery which will be revealed later on
>remake is just fullbright because frick it.
Lazy.
Let's not pretend like Klonoa's story is deep or impactful enough for a lighting change like this to fricking matter in the least.
"running" at 4k60fps doesn't mean that frames are necessarily paced well. Which they aren't. Which is kind of important for a platformer. Not a huge deal, but it adds to the evidence that this was a low effort rushjob.
I agree with your sentiment, but it's still a fricking Klonoa game. It has the literary depth of a children's book.
>yeah dude I play video games for the lore
What a fricking loser you are, get the frick out of here
Moron
>yeah dude I play video games for the lore
...But that's my point, though. It doesn't really matter if the character models are lit up in that case.
You actually agree with me; you're just too fricking dumb to understand that.
I play the game because I want to shag the characters
It's not that fricking deep
Anyone who complains about the story is a moron who doesn't understand why people play these kinds of games
Same reason why so many Kirby fans are vore fetishists, it's not about the Kirby metaverse, it's all about how he can swallow anything
>calls others losers
>is a furgay pedo
God I fricking hate you shitstains.
Fricking cry about it, I live rent-free in your head forever while I'll forget about you in 5 minutes after I use my fleshlight
How would you dock with Klonoa, and how often?
Just curious.
I'll post the frame data then.
Looks fine to me.
Come up with ideas for new random spinoffs. Something the series hasn't done yet.
Klonoa RPG. You can play as any of the captive races who are inspired by Klonoa and band up to save him from the big bad who's captured him.
Isn't that just Sonic Forces as an rpg?
Animal Crossing, Lunatea edition.
Man, frick them Moos, they don't do shit for nobody.
What have the Moos ever done for us?
Klonoa Xtreme Beach Volleyball
Didn't we already have a beach volleyball game?
Yeah, but it wasn’t of the Xtreme variety
What would make it Xtreme? Kemoshoto thong?
Exactly
It'll print money.
Strip Poker
>that strip Mahjong game can't be played anymore
Sonic Riders/Kirby Air Ride but with Klonoa since there is already hoverboards in the games.
That does sound like a fun idea. A shame how barren the mascot racing genre is nowadays though.
It really is, the last noteworthy one we got as a free-to-play shitfest with microtransactions and battle pass bullshit. I honestly feel bad for Chocobo Racing fans.
For a second there, I thought you were talking about the Disney one, but yeah that's true.
I said noteworthy, nobody gives a shit about the Disney kart-racer.
OK, hear me out: Klonoa hack and slash made by Platinum Games
please no, platinum hasn't made a good game in years
Klonoa's in your room, what the frick do you do?
move to another room, I'm allergic to cats
Pull down his pants and fondle his bulge
Put him in a diaper and cuddle his cute shota ass
God I need a life size plush of him
Crush him like egg
Unironically me.
Wahoochads...we still aren't going to get new games from this.....
Give Klonoa some ice cream
You know it be true
Phantomile on the pile!
Klonoa on Mt. Krakatoa?
the furry in a hurry?
the homosexual on some agates?
klonoa bondburgered my sister?
yes
Meet Klonoa. He's wacky. He flaps his over-sized when you team up with Klonoa. He's the star in ears to fly. He's the fantasy creature from Namco's new action-adventure game in a 3-D Phantomile. And he inflates the bad guys until zany landscape. At least now you know there's they blow up. Yikes! No one stands a chance someone outside your family who's a stranger.
>imagine being at advertisement
Klonoa on klondike bar
the kit on a pile of shit
It's got it's problems, but if it's not patched it should be easy to mod.
so... no DRM at all?
Not to my knowledge, no.
Okay I can understand most of the plot points of Klonoa 1, but can somepony explain the intro sequence to me.
>Klonoa finds the Wind Ring and Huepow appears
>Darkness approaches and he wakes up from this dream
>For some reason Huepow was real and is in a bed next to him
>No reaction to the fact that this this in real now
The entire opening of the game is a dream sequence that's being manipulated by Huepow to create a false memories of friendship and family in Klonoa's head to convince him to save Phantomile
Can you understand why his Grandpa says that their time together was short?
I find it disheartening that Huepow said "i'm sorry" to grandpa, and not Klonoa
Well, Huepow and Grandpa were working together. According to one of the guidebooks, he came to him after Ghadius broke free to come up with a plan. He feels bad for putting Grandpa in danger.
>$50 for a slightly touched up port of the wii remake
it's shit and soulless just play the originals tbh
Okay.
Play the original of Klonoa 2 on original hardware.
Wouldn’t the easiest way to go about it be to play the ROM off an USB on a PS2?
Yes, or tonyhack and other SD card options in PS1's case.
Any place to grind for lives in klonoa 1? Struggling on 6-2 and need some extra lives.
I said last thread to farm 1-1 for 5 lives every 2 level clears if you get all 150 gems+extra life in the level since the level is quick and easy to memorize.
Didn't see the reply, sorry anon
I am always happy for more classic 2D platformers. The remake is decent and klonoa still feels good to control.
Who is this Edgy Klonoa with the gun I see sometimes. I don't remember him in 1 or 2
Guntz? He only appears in Beach Volley Ball, Dream Champ Tournament, and Klonoa Heroes. None of those games are canon to 1 and 2.
He needs his own spinoff game
He doesn't know about the webcomic which was tying him into the canon
Wasn't it cancelled after Andrew Hussie fricked everything up?
Who the frick is Andrew Hussie? All I remember is that the company producing the comics went bankrupt which killed the Klonoa comics.
The webcomic is from yet another continuity. It's a timeline closer to the console games, but one where he also met Guntz and Chipple.
He needs more love
So cancerous that it got stolen for Tough Bippy!
But he cute tho
Guntz?
He's in the GBA games+beach volley, and a total bro in Heroes.
Realistically, what's Klonoa's powerlevel?
Bad.
Tell me about Klonoa, why didn't she became a huge franchise like Sonic and Mario
bad marketing
>Are you sure this will help us sell more Klonoa?
>Klonoa?
>Tell me about Klonoa, why didn't she became a huge franchise like Sonic and Mario
They made 2 mainline games and stopped. If they shoved out enough content it would probably be more well known outside of furry homosexuals.
So… the ratchet and clank approach?
Does this mean we're going to get a canon second Dream Traveler but with booba?
If anything considering Lolo’s VA is dead it might mean Guntz becomes Klonoa’s love interest
They can just recast Lolo with that one girl who took up all of her other roles when she died.
Klonoa 1: Ends with Klonoa leaving everyone he knows in that world and never coming back
Klonoa 2: Ends with Klonoa saying goodbye and shedding a single tear walking away knowing he can't ever see them again.
All other Klonoa games and the fandom in general: This is Sonic Adventure, but with Klonoa, right?
At least Klonoa didn't get his own Sonic 06
Or his own Blinx 2
>shedding a single tear
not anymore lol
literally only a problem on AMD gpus you dumb samegayging moron
switch doesn't have a AMD GPU you absolute moron
>switchlet
thats your own fault schizo shithead, it works on machine
No advertising during the era of the mascot platformers when he should have succeeded, meaning he never had a chance in the later eras except for the cult following and furries.
Ganker already established yesterday this is a troony game, get the frick out of my board.
what the frick is a scrimblo
A word people were using to dismiss more platformer characters being added to Smash, then it became mainstream and people used it to mention characters they like.
why is it being used on Ganker in a thread for a 20 year old game
I wonder what Matthew Perry is doing.
Klonoa was one of the characters people considered a scrimblo during the rostergayging era.
because time, despite appearances, continues to flow
"A non-human video game character I don't recognize."
Any "cereal mascot" type character that a JRPG fan does not like.
Project X-Zone already did that human-only thing but better
There is a difference in troonys adopting a game and a game promoting troonys.
This game LITERALLY has troony flags in it, troony shill.
Where?
Don't call me a troony you aggressive homosexual just because I didn't notice any.
>Klonoa demake sell millions
>Klona 3 is created by the acclaimed team renowned for making quality platformers like Balan Wonderworld, Arzest
Now that Ooshima's the president, what are the chances of them making better games? With his artstyle, I'm sure he'd love to get a hold on Klonoa.
0%, can't make good games with a shit team.
If anything now that he's president he don't have to actually make games.
Well, now that he's president, he could push them to get off their asses and work harder. After what happened with Balan, I'm sure this is a good wakeup call for his team.
there are many schadenfreudebros itt huh? for shame
I've never played Klonoa before. I'm guessing the originals are the way to go?
Get as much Klonoa as you can, originals, remakes, and don't forget the handheld games!
It's worth it for the modding potential, and since Klonoa 2 is a b***h to emulate.
I'm not a furry, but why is Lolo so cute?
i want that monke as Klonoa's wife so that he can have a happy ending every night!
Is she strictly monke? I saw her race more of a Monke/Lion hybrid
The writer/character designer confirmed she was a monkey years ago.
Is it 60 fps native res on switch?
>60 fps
>switch
There's like 3 games that pull it off so don't knock it.
it has the switch version of "60 fps" sure
How infectious is Klonoa?
It depends on how well groomed his fur is, so that no fleas or ticks get in there as he runs around dream worlds.
Is this a time paradox?
Klonoa has come back from the future to fricking kill Huepow for the shit he did.
I bet you put a lot of thought into this reply huh
So, what are the chances of the anime project being resurrected?
Still zero.
I'd rather they use whatever story they came up with as the base for a Klonoa 3 and have Hitoshi Ariga do a manga adaptation of the first two games anyways.
more likely the RnD for the anime project would be reworked into a new game, if this remake package sells well enough.
Klonoa WILL exist, and you WILL co-exist with him. No ifs, ands, or buts.
holy frick it stutters like hell on switch. even next gen has a bit of it in 2. these devs can’t optimize shit
Which priestess, Wahoo Man?
The one that didn't try to fricking kill me on numerous occasions.
What causes a person to become mindbroken. Does their autism just snap?
They're both alright.
>that animation
God he looks so ugly. I distinctively remember as a kid I put off from playing Klonoa 2 because I didn't like his redesign.
His original 1997 design is still, to this day, the objectively superior one. There was no need at all to take a page out of Sonic's book. It just ruined him like it ruined Sonic.
Eh, the Klonoa 2 redesign isn't bad, though it does kinda feel more Sonic-like. Doesn't detract from the game though.
Klonoa 2 redesigns were kino. Though I still prefer some of the concept designs to the one they went with.
Ooh, rubberhose Klonoa would be neat. Kinda makes me want a spinoff from MDHR.
Oh, the rubberhose and overalls ones look cute. Though I imagine they wanted to avoid too many comparisons to Pacman and Mario.
If anything, I kinda want Bamco to rubberhose all of their franchises. Imagine an old-timey Tekken game with Popeye-like designs.
The big difference between Klonoa and Sonic's redesigns is that they went out of their way to keep Klonoa's cuteness intact while making him a bit cooler. Sonic dropped his cute elements entirely.
I definitely remember people talking about 2 more than 1 in the 2000's.
>top left
>we could've had something still remotely resembling his dtp face but with his new outfit
We were robbed
Just give him big yellow eyes again, while keeping the rest of the Klonoa 2 design. The Wii version kinda did a halfway version of that actually
I'm sure someone's gonna mod something like that eventually.
Ooh, that does sound like fun idea.
His eyes in the Wii remake were a nice compromise. He looked older, but clearly different from a Sonic character.
The game itself already has that (Only for DtP though, same for the DtP outfit in LV) but it's an early purchase/pre-order bonus and doesn't seem to be available as DLC right now.
The fricking annoying thing is that this is for Physical releases only. Not Digital.
in before it's on-disk dlc
Oh yes, I agree, it doesn't ruin the game by any means, but I'll be damned if it isn't dissapointing. Klonoa's design went from a 10 to a 7.5 tops
Both
So when's pic related getting a remaster as well?
Was it any good in the first place?
It was pretty fun from what I remember.
Depends, Bamco could consider making a remaster complation of all the spinoff games.
Bamco is killing off your pedoscrimblo series you delusional troony.
you can't kill what is already dead
who cares, I just hope you have a nice day you mentally ill freak
Seethe more Klonoatroon, we already won.
Won what?
the great wahoo war of 2022
If i have it borderless windowed and have the graphics down to mid, i can play it at 1440p at about 50fps. I don't know what the fricking deal is, as I'm running FFVII-R on high at 1440p60. Other than the hiccup to start with, it's fun, and i'll play it some more at the weekend.
They appear in your room, what do you do?
HHRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNGGGGGG SSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
fitgirl?
Does he deserve the hate?
Yes. Treacherous little shit deserves the blender.
[/spoilers]
most people are selfish idiots so why take the chance
The original story was inspired by the original Blade Runner, what with fake memories in replicants. So Klonoa is a Dream Replicant, doing as he is told and trying to save dreams because that is what he is programmed to do.
Does Klonoa dream of electric sheep?
He wanted to call Klonoa Clonoa, as in Clone-oa. Your clone. So it checks out.
I didn't want to say for sure as it'd mean digging up the tweet. Plus I don't think he confirmed some of the bigger implications of it in terms of what it meant for 1's story
I'm not a sexy kemo shota.
One day, my friend.
That's the official explanation by Hideo Yoshizawa and the rest of the staff.
>Klonoa is literally you
Where's my cute monke priestess GF then?
Bro she is in the dream world waiting for you. You just need to go to sleep, forever
She's in Lunatea Garden
>Go to my local Target
>Go into Vidya Gaem Section
>Klonoa on Switch is sold out
>PC isn't strong enough to handle Kemoshota Kino
Bros...it's over...
How old is your PC? This shit could run on a potato.
The remasters are far from intensive, I'm sure your computer can run it fine.
Stop egging them on.
How would you make a spinoff game for him? What genre would it be?
Just make it a Devil May Cry clone?
None because your furpedo shit is never getting a game again.
I know it's summer but don't you have anything better to do then just shit up on topic because you're feeling bad right now? If you want something 'based' just go try out Street Fighter 3 Third Strike. With your level of intelligence it should take you the rest of summer just to get a handle on parrying.
full edgelord 3rd person shooter, something like Ratchet Gladiator, just with Guntz. also give him max payne bullet time for the lulz
Man, perspective is a motherfricker on Guntz.
Those were concept art drawings of him. But giving him a trenchcoat would work for the spinoff.
>Guntz
>not best cat
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ I sleep ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
psh... would a pedo do this?
>Klonoa Blanco Desnudo
>No shota penis.
Ruined.
WHERE THE FRICK IS IT?!
WHERE ARE THE WII COSTUMES, BAMCO?
Quite the naval battle in this thread, what with all these torpedos being fired.
Now I'm imagining a Klonoa spinoff where he hails a navy fleet for some reason.
>Headlines from the war front:
>Admiral Klonoa can't swim!
It's over bros. How can we recover from this?
Does Wahoo's still exist?
Creator of Homestuck, also did that crossover dating sim Namco High. All the characters were the webcomic versions of themselves.
>Does Wahoo's still exist?
Yeah theres one near me in a comfy building in California
Could he take on UI Goku and GER Giorno?
Stop b***hing about price. Just pirate. Play and enjoy. Or purchase. Don't b***h about price, ever.
If they wanted to make a new game in the series they would have rather than a remake. Your purchase won't have any significant impact.
Milquetoast remake. Monkey Ball-tier. Kinda like the Wii-remake was also kind of inferior in lots of ways. See how there's no new monkey ball game? Yet there's 100s of new custom levels for it you could play. Why not design your own klonoa levels?
I would not compare bamco to sega
For one thing, Bamco is big enough to easily buy out Sega if they wanted to.
Not even man enough to reply to me manually. But seriously, pick up a fightan game. You need to self-improve to get good at them, and frick me you need alot of that.
Now that you mention it, Klonoa should have a fighting game. Maybe it'd play kinda like Power Stone.
i apologize
Give it a read.
https://dreamcrusaders.the-comic.org/
Where do I read what came before it?
https://klonoa.the-comic.org/
Thank you!
The guy continuing the webcomic is doing a pretty good job with it. should've called it Dream warriors though.
Damn it, now I got the song stuck in my head. Speaking of, could Klonoa take on Freddy?
Klonoa kinda did already when he fought Poison Claws Janga in Heroes.
They should use that for a trailer when Klonoa 3 inevitably gets made
even though joilant in the remake doesn't look too bad, the OG is still king
Looking back, the dynamic lighting in the original was pretty insane for a 2001 game. Here's hoping mods can replicate this to some extent.
The Klonoa 1 remaster is worth playing over the Wii remake, but not the PS1 original. PS1 original is still the best version.
On the other hand, this is probably the best version of Klonoa 2 available. Emulation of the original PS2 game is still finicky.
Ultraman's crossing over with Monster Rancher and Marvel, who should Klonoa crossover with?
was it that hard to google famarino?
https://klonoa.the-comic.org/comics/1
I admit, I'm a lazy frick at times.
Was looking forward to playing this on Steam Deck, but I guess I'll just emulate?
Klonoa 2 emulates fine on the Deck (if you ignore the usual graphical issues), but I think this is the better option.
For Klonoa 1, yeah, just emulate the PS1 version.
Graphics suck but the gameplay is fun and the games seem stable with little to no glitches. That's my opinions at least, there is a chance someone else may have run into some bugs but I have yet to.
K1 > K1R > K Wii
K2 PS2 > K2R > K2 Emulated
Same anon here, yes I meant emulated, sorry for not specifying.
Would of been a good opportunity to translate klonoa heroes to
gonna play the first game on my vita
are there any regional differences between eu/us/jp releases beside the language?
I enjoyed the remaster. Maybe it's mostly nostalgia speaking but being able to play it again so many years later is great. I remember my dad coming home from work after a month where we hadn't seen each other and he brought a copy of Klonoa and a Playstation with him. Played it for a day and a night together before he was off for another few weeks.
Wish the old men were still alive but playing this game still brings me joy despite its obvious flaws.
Could look better
>"This guy looks like he could help us!"
>"But how do we ask him?"
>"Surely no one would ever risk their lives to save a world they're not from"
>"I know, I'll give him fake memories of living here"
>"And I'll play the role of his childhood friend to stick close to him and help guide him"
>"Not because I'm lonely living in a castle that's sealed away underground or anything"
There.
was huepow in the wrong?
>the only one that knows Klonoa's true origins because he summoned him is now in a restored perfect world where he marries Lephise as his queen when he becomes King Huepow
Life just isn't fair. Not even in dreams.
WE'RE WINNING
Why is the furry fandom trending anyway?
It's Friday.
Furry/Fursuit Friday. Always trends here in the Americas.
>Bamco contracts a known lazy studio to slap together the wii version and a low effort PS2 remake into an overpriced collection for ez nostalgia money
>even if it sells decently there's no way they're actually going to make a Klonoa 3, and even if they did, they would commission Monkeycraft to frick it up anyway
>morons running around screaming "U HAVE TO BUY THIS OTHERWISE WE WON'T GET MORE KLONUSSY!"
Monkeys paw.
Don't care. Go back to your discord.
>proud shiteater
What discord, schizo? You're exactly the reason why companies like Activision and Bamco continue to get away with this shit. You're not getting a Klonoa 3 no matter how much you convince people to pay full price for lazy port jobs of 20 year old games.
There there
I wonder how well Phantasy series is actually selling. Will it break 500 000 copies
What's the site for seeing sales charts nowadays?
Or is it all obscured nowadays to keep the consumer in the dark?
ONE KLORILLION SALES
>Klonoa has beaten Elden Ring in Steam Top Sellers
Fromsisters....
How does the second game compare to the first?
Does it emulate well?
>How does the second game compare to the first?
More of the same but improvements here and there.
>Does it emulate well?
Kinda if you're not an epileptic and can handle graphical glitches.
try last nightly pcsx2, runs great for me. pic related.
heard there's some graphic errors still, anything big?
nothing too serious in my end, just some misaligned 2d sprites in menus and some UI interfaces
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT VOMIT CARPET IN THE UPPER RIGHT
Looks like a map
Wasn’t aware of that, what with how the nips are regarding the recasting of dead VAs
To be fair, there’s that one comic posted in this thread that tries to tie Gantz to the continuity of the mainline games
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomoko_Kawakami
She has numerous successors.
I think Kula's VA could do a good Lolo.
>numerous successors required for a single woman
>people still talk about her 11 years after her death
I sometimes forget just how much range Tomoko Kawakami had. What a legend.
Would Lolo even show up in a new game though? Klonoa 3 would likely have completely a new cast, just like Klonoa 2
They should use all the spin-off characters they are doing nothing with at the moment.
Guntz, Chipple, and Janga, maybe. Garlen should be left behind, since he's too much like Wily and Eggman.
its the map from the cinematic, it really does look like that, look at this from the remake
Bros...
I've always been curious about Heroes, maybe they should remake it and finally release it in the west.
Chances are they might, should the remake do decently well.
this would only mean something if klonoa stayed up there for a while, elden ring is multiple months old and will still be a top seller when klonoa gets pushed off the list
I was interested until I looked up in what engine it's running. why the frick is it on Unity??? moronic as hell and not worth spending 50 bucks on.
I guess emulating is the way to play this after all.
doesn't that mean that modding will be more feasible
probably but who'd want to ruin lil' Klonoa's wahoos?
not me.
>implying
Klonoa is BUILT for BBWs. Big Boisterous WAHOOS.
do not sexualize the Klonoa
>he wouldn't vigorously wahoo with Klonoa
I would hang out with him but fug him?
no. he's perfectly hetero as it is. you lose.
What do you imagine is wrong with Unity
I'm gonna sound silly but I really like the cartoon stock "doink" noises when things pop.
Alright bros, wish me luck. gonna try this shit again.
Why is the Moon Kingdom such a step up in difficulty compared to the rest of the game and won't 6-2 stop kicking me in the dick?
Hideo Yoshizawa, the creator of Klonoa, also worked on Ninja Gaiden. So you're playing a Ninja Gaiden Act 6-2 meant for the whole family.
The bonus level is going to rip into you so hard...
How the frick do I save him, bros?
t. 32 year old anon with minor arthritis in his hands
scratch that, I fricking did it first try and landed back on the floating island.
>that sky background
Holy shit that is so soulless compared to the original.
Do you have a picture of the original by any chance?
It's supposed to be be in the Moon Kingdom. It's supposed to be dreamlike and otherworldly. Monkey nuts clearly misunderstood the assignment
>slap a generic black space background and some stars, call it a day.
I feel like the art of skyboxes has died out
To be fair, it was like that in the Wiimake, with even less stars.
Still trash though. The original was so gorgeous, too.
>Still trash though. The original was so gorgeous, too.
Indeed. By that point in the mid 90's Namco had some of the best texture artists in the business.
Klonoa in general is a relic from Namco's golden years.
>Door to Phantomile
What exactly was the titular door?
>What exactly was the titular door?
I believe the "door" is a metaphorical device for when Klonoa sleeps and gets transported into these worlds.
The CD case
Alright bros. Final boss time.
Hands don't stop me now. Any tips on beating stage 3 with the spinning triangle will be appreciated.
>Any tips on beating stage 3 with the spinning triangle will be appreciated.
That's not the final boss. But I'll help anyways.
Run in and hit the angles of the triangle to release the Moos inside. Grab them and finish him off.
Beat that motherfricker.
>That's not the final boss.
Yeah I see that. At least it's not the same fricking level.
>CLANK! CLANK! CLANK!
who thought that it was good to have a loudass sound like that playing every 3 seconds something hits the inner wall?
If somehow a new Klonoa game came out of this, should it stay as 2.5D or should it go the Forgotten Land route and go 3D? Or maybe a hybrid of the two ala Modern Sonic?
they should test the waters first.
if it's successful then the follow up title should go the forgotten Land route.
How easy is it to acquire a copy of Klonoa 2 nowadays? How good are the emulatable roms for it?
wtf is wrong with the model in Lunatea's Veil? Is the head covering his neck? Something is off with Klonoa's design and it's making my tism sense go haywire.
I don’t know, I haven’t gotten my physical copy from Play-Asia yet.
Hey everyone.
Let's hope. I'd love a hybrid that combines the higher poly assets with the aesthetics of the original.
>(maybe they had the source for Klonoa 2?)
They did have the source code. But couldn't port any of the lighting from the code, and had to do something stupid with shaders that obviously didn't work well.
those are default unity directory structures
try something like unity asset explorer to look at the sharedassets resources
>Models are old
>Textures are new
>Shaders are new
>Sound and BGM seem to be a weird mix of old and new.
I think modding the game might be a huge hassle, as well. Last I checked unity game modding was a bit much.
Beat the big bad vore demon.
Now we can all live happily ever after and nothing will go wrong.
oh wait.
I think we can call the franchise dead.
To be fair, consoles are where most of the sales are expected. Especially Switch.
psh, wait until the my Klounter Strike mod is ready.
Bamco should have just released a generic casual metroidvania I guess. Platformers are dead.
But hey, on the bright side, more people are now getting into the series and playing the old games.
Oh and after 20 years, the Klonoa JP only games finally got an English translation thanks to remasters by making Klonoa relevant again.
https://www.romhacking.net/translations/6511/
https://www.romhacking.net/translations/6491/
>the Klonoa JP only games finally got an English translation thanks to remasters by making Klonoa relevant again.
the translations have been out for a long time you dipshit.
It's the 4th game on the top sellers list
why only 700 players then
because you can beat both games if you do a 4-8 hour gaming session?
Klonoa showing off his pp tho
I can't believe Klonoa is fricking dead, bros...
I can believe Klonoa is fricking dead, unfortunately.
>klonoa is dead
Frick, now we have to wait until 2070 for Klonoa 3
Why is there a moon rocket here?
Soon he'll have enough sorrow to complete the sorrowship and return to his home on Sorrow Planet
>Namco passed the production off to a dogshit studio and sold these two 2-3 hour games for FIFTY FRICKING EURO
>ports are dogshit
>DLC is TWENTY EURO for four shitty masks, an ost and an artbook
>Fans will be blamed for not buying this trash
worst part is that I'll eventually buckle
>Klonoa nendo
I'LL BUY 20
It's a bit sad reading the Steam reviews watching fans defend this steaming pile of shit for a "remaster". Buying this isn't going to get us Klonoa 3 and even if it did, it would just be another half-assed game like this game.
can you have a nice day already worthless samegay spammer?
put a fricking bullet in your head you moronic moron, this is my only post in this thread
Can't cope with the fact that multiple people are calling this out for the soulless trash it is?
Soulful, soulless, what does that really mean?
Are you just nostalgia driven by the older games or what?
You can't just have your cake and eat it, too.
I assume you have to beat the game to unlock it. I am working on my 100% run right now.
>Are you just nostalgia driven by the older games or what?
Are you? why do you need a remake? the original exists and is a good game. It's right there.
No, I'm driven by the fact that it's a new game.
You're the one complaining about it.
>No, I'm driven by the fact that it's a new game.
consooooooooooom
Where's the problem?
>the original exists and is a good game. It's right there.
I have the game in storage because my TV doesn't have composite cables to play Lunatea's Veil on it via my PS2.
>multiple people
lmao, atleast you're not calling your own posts based anymore like you were doing earlier in the thread
Namco tried to revive Klonoa with a remake, twice. It failed both times. It's dead ;_;
i want to remaster klonoas bunghole with my tongue if you catch my drift
>people were expecting a different result
cmon guys, klonoa is too niche to succeed, be thankful we got some good games out of this IP
it's fun
funny how the best games of 2022 are either Elden Ring or retro games.
>it's fun
Klonoa is essentially Kirby. Of course it's fun, it's supposed to be easy breezy simple mechanical fun. Artistically though it's dogshit for a remake.
It's as good as the Kirby GBA remake
>easy breezy simple mechanical fun
>speedrunning autists thinking anything they do is impressive.
Right on cue
>i play a 2 hour game once and then never again, and my entire impression is based on this. i somehow think i am capable of contributing to discussion in any meaningful way and not a moron. also my opinions are correct because they just are okay
>i play a 2 hour game once and then never again, and my entire impression is based on this.
>When your brain is so ADHD riddled that you can't see a game for what it is and only think about ways to blast through it so you can post times and circlejerk with other autists online
The game has time trials baked into it. Are you moronic?
Klonoa is a great deal more mechanically complex than Kirby.
>Klonoa is a great deal more mechanically complex than Kirby.
Not really.
kirby controls like 99% of platformers, except way more forgiving, and the level design is far, far worse as well.
Yes, really. There are no good kirby games.
>Yes, really. There are no good kirby games.
Now that's just plain wrong. Or an opinion formed by someone who's only experience is playing Kirby 64 or something.
They are all boring.
Not sure about that but I will say that it is significantly more difficult than Kirby since you actually have to worry about platforming.
LMAO where is that klonoa shill that always posts in pacman threads now? This "remaster" is absolute garbage compared to museum+
no one under the age of 50 likes pacman
and no one under the age of 30 likes klonoa
most people on Ganker are in the 25-35 age range. children have found better places to get groomed such as twitter.
I can't wait for the Klonoa sex wind ring documentary, "From WAHOO to WAH-groomed"
Bro I'm 25 and I love him
How the frick is this on the top sellers list on Steam?
suspiciously wealthy furries
steam sale ended
They should've learned from Cuphead and added a female Klonoa
you mean a female saluki?
Somebody gimme the pirate link
Just finished Klonoa 1, still a fantastic game for the most part with the feel of the controls perfectly retained.
Only real issue I have with this remake so far is that it doesn't look as good as the original at some points; cutscene animations look a bit weird and some of the backgrounds don't look as good.
Good stuff otherwise and I'm looking very forward to playing Klonoa 2 tomorrow. Frick that ending though, it still got a single tear out of me and Huepow is a bastard.
yeah i almost cried too lmao, im replaying klonoa 2 now and honestly ive always liked it less than the first one but its still a fine game
the Klonoa remake is a necessary evil to get our boy back in the spotlight
true!
if only it wasn't a soulless low effort cashgrab though
>The way Klonoa screams out for his Grandpa
The voice acting is way too good for some gibberish language like this.
CHI CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Playing the first, when does it get good?
It gets progressively better with each vision. 5 (about halfway in playtime wise) is when it starts getting really good imo.
5-2 is the worst level in the game.
Everything else around the latter half is kino but that level is dogshit in comparison.
nah, night was a neat gimmick. thats a good level too.
>night was a neat gimmick
No
Just go fast.
It's babbies first platformer, but the thing that was so great about the original game was that the atmoshphere and SOUL was through the roof because it was peak 90's NAMCO. I can see how anyone would play the wii remake or this collection and go
>huh, that was fun and inoffensive I guess. Not sure what the hype is all about though.
>Playing through K1
>Now that I'm older I'm noticing all the little lines that are alluding to the ending
Neat, but also I'm getting increasingly sadder as I near the finish.
Anons, I have something to tell you... I have Klonoa
Hey baby, I WANT Klonoa.
Baby, I want Klonoa.
It's utterly soulless shit, refunded immediately and went to play the original instead.
KLONOA NO
BAD TOUCH
KLONOA'S A REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER???
UGH DAMN RAPIST BRAT, NEEDS COUNTER-RAPE
That's your hero??
Why is there not a separate counter for how many gems you've gotten in a level?
Why ask for 150 - an amount that you UI doesn't display as it goes back to 0 after 99 and to top it off not reset your counter between levels?
When you're remaking a game I'd think the first thing on your mind would be little QoL changes like fixing this shit.
>When you're remaking a game I'd think the first thing on your mind would be little QoL changes like fixing this shit.
Then people would b***h about muh downgrade, git good, dumbed down, zoomer friendly, you didn't win the game, etc.
i though they would add another counter, but mechanically the only thing they added is that the puzzle pieces / dolls you collect on each level disappear wen you actually got them, very weird change. also chamber of fun opens at 6 dools, which is a joke lmao
because some bamco intern threw this shit together in one drunken evening
what's a klondike anyway
Did I frick up? There's that 2x but it seems impossible to get the lower area and the higher area together.
But a thought crossed my mind of going UP first instead of down.
>crappy 3d unity game
>runs like dogshit and is poorly optimized
>easy mode that completely shits on the original's design
>game disrupting popups on every 5 fricking seconds during the gameplay made for morono people (hey did you know you can jump, hey did you know x, hey did you know y FRICKING SHUT THE FRICK UP ALREADY and let me play the game).
>are people fricking used to these popup style notifications in games that completely block everything now? is it because of social media? fricking humanity needs to fricking die already
yeah it took me <2 minutes to uninstall this crap
>crappy 3d unity game
nothing statement. do you hate all games with the engine?
>runs like dogshit and poorly optimized
works on my machine, 4k 60fps on a 1080ti.
>easy mode that shits on the original's design
then don't play it.
>game disrupt popups
turn them off. it's an option in the option menu.
>more popup ranting
this game is meant for all ages. this might be someone's first game.
You're an idiot.
>runs like dogshit and is poorly optimized
Runs at 4k 60fps on PS5, XSX and any non shit GPU. Only the Switch struggles with it despite running it at like 720p, but that's expected from toy hardware.
First time beating it, and now I feel sad because of the ending.
anyone here play the gba games? i've played the first to its entirety on my gba sp and it was really good. probably one of the more underrated platformers on there but i haven't touched the second yet
addendum: i haven't played klonoa heroes either because i was waiting for a full fan translation which finally came out pretty recently but i absolutely will soon
>anyone here play the gba games?
not since the first one came out no
How do I play this in fullscreen on Steam? It keeps launching in windowed for me
Options -> Display Settings -> Window Type
I do not support your behavior.
thanks anon
I'm just here for Klonoa 2.
Door to Phantomile is always best on PS1.
where's the hard difficulty?
>playing Klonoa 2 remake
>Pressing R1 or L1 makes him do poses
>Makes him say things while walking
>Makes him do flips and twirls in air from canons
CUTE
If you just jump and press L1 or R1, you do a 360 turn. I use it to flex on bosses as I dodge their attacks.
>another Klonoa thread ruined by furgays who think everything revolves around them
Do not sexualze the Klonoa.
sexualize the klonoa
Yeah dude, the "normie" fans of Klonoa are making a splash in the gaming world
>I'm allowed to be a degenerate over a fictional character because bamco shat out a low rent portjob and nobody cares
Not how it works, furgay. Go yiff in private.
Bro you are reaching so hard defending these remakes just because an actual fan wants to frick the mascot
Go touch grass
its alright, they messed up the facial expressions in Klonoa 1, but the games are fine gameplaywise
>but the games are fine gameplaywise
Because they were pretty braindead to begin with. Pretty hard to frick up a 2D sidescroller where most of the combat/platforming is essentially on rails.
