Yes, there were some field battles early in the Caelum Kerasia war. Usually sparked by Caelum intercepting foreign soldiers in transit and then local Kerasians moving in to defend them. Caelum destroyed tons of Kerasians that way.

Do you mean combat? Combat is done by dragging your unit atop the enemy unit and clicking the melee button. You can also select your unit and look for the "melee combat" button in the actions pane which I believe just tells your dude (or dudes, if you have a team) to nonselectively hit everything in the square. Ranged combat works similarly, but you select your team of archers, then select a nearby tile and click "ranged attack" and they will dump arrows on anything in the tile that doesn't belong to their domain. If other units from the domain of your target can riposte, they will.
The game doesn't really have any concept of allies or enemies. All domains are potential enemies, I believe even those of the same house, so you could play war with yourself if you wish. Everyone has different blazons, so you have to keep manually checking who you're attacking.

the best field battles happen when fighting over regalia. The Ice Crystal war, The Thule vs Tilea Fisherman Ring battle, The Ingerland-Roma vs Tilea hat battle where the hat fell and got lost in the river were all kino huge open field battles
I personaly witnessed the Thule Invasion to Normandy (but missed subsequent "Tilean Punish of Thule") and most glorious "Fall of Solus".
Actions where most of the opposing generals are online are extremly rare.
Ingerland pro-Rome campaign was massive but horribly off mechanic.

What kind of layout I should use for my castle? Is there some sort of meta design I'm supposed to use or can I just get creative?
A small inner box with as many stone towers as possible. If you were ever under siege, you would want to put all of your units in the towers. You also want to make the inner box as small as possible so that every square can be fully occupied. Then again, maybe that doesn't matter any more because of the changes to intrusion, in which case just design whatever you want.

It's better to keep at least one barracks secure behind your castle walls. You can have multiple barracks but their upgrades depend on distance from domain center.

It's a game of factions though, and most of the people who play it are weirdly obsessed by it and create dozens of alt accounts so don't try and be the most heckin awesome because you are competing with the most autistic people in existence.
You can also affect the game by convincing other people to do shit that benefits you or which you just find amusing.

That means that 50% qual eight houses will probably last like 640 days till collapsing
Lower quality buildings will get more damage over time, better quality means less maintenance
Abandoned houses collapse even faster to free up the space

warehouses are worth it if you are doing major manufacturing that requires large stockpiles, otherwise just go with housing

you don't really have to grind every day. a lot of building actions take 12+ hours to complete unless you want to use tokens to complete them (everyone gets to spin a slot machine for tokens every 23 hours even free to play guys). actions like harvesting crops and smelting shit can be automated so you can go away for a day and things won't have fallen apart. even if you get big enough and have a large army you can get a friend to manage the army while you're offline if there's a big offensive

you have to log in at least 10 minutes a day if you expect to make progress. It's better if you can do two sessions 12 hours apart. basically, you have to:
1. move your tree cutters to the next tile and sell your wood
2. use the money to buy a bunch of building materials
3. tell your build teams to make new buildings. use the hotkeys to move as fast as possible
do that for 2 months and you'll have a sizeable domain.
stop shilling this awful strategy you dumb Black person. completely cutting down your trees is rarely a good idea unless you have a town or a lordship, its better to just let the woodcutters harvest wood automatically.

it's worth keeping a small stockpile of a resource you'll use later to produce other goods or to build something, unless the resources you produce are of poor quality and you want to use what's available on the market of course
rarely, it's worthwhile to stockpile goods and then transport them to another continent with a scarcity of them in order to sell them or supply a town. But you're going to need to use carters and it's a rather tedious process

in field battles almost none can beat them. even horsemen and knight get massively rekt by them and cost a frickton more to make than pikes. to effectively defeat pikes you should have some ranged units nearby to reposte from outside the tile to help your own units on the tile

Villages make the most money by far from stone, wood, ores, crops, livestock, etc. Lordships aren't very profitable, they're really just for armies, which are expensive to maintain.

You can resettle but will have to start with just a central square and will have to build the houses and buildings from zero. You spawned on Paradisia which is the newest continent and the least populated one. Check other continents like Endor and Terra Occidentalis.

Endor is the most balanced with not too hot summers and not too cold winters. Terra Occidentalis (and Terra Orientalis) are in the north so their winter is harsh. Frigos is north of Terra Occidentalis and it's really cold, the thread faction is there.

Better user validation process, e.g. phone number confirmation & better e-mail filters to filter junk/temp emails. For example, Veriphone is a cheap one and has simple af API, costs only 7$/month (literally a SINGLE lol+ buyer) for up to 5k verifications.
Other minor improvements I would do:
Free LoL+ for those who volunteer in moderation job, so they have better motivation. Collective case reviews if interests of factions are involved, or there's a new alt case/confirmation process. Trusted overseer who decides if someone is slacking or trying to cover up his friends. Better mod player logs that would show each edit made by moderators with IDs and stuff.
Adding moderation transparency & strict game rules. Those who violate the rules must become the outcasts that will get their stuff stolen/killed/etc. For example, making a public list of all currently suspended accounts and utilizing the "death sentence" mark invented for Godson on them.
In case of exploits: if mechanical exploit was found, make a public announcement that forbids further usage of said exploit until it is fixed. Initial abusers should be judged by mod team and punished/warned depending on how critical exploit was and how far the abuser went with it.

Scheduled Construction
- Scheduling a construction is an instant action that adds what is effectively a 0% structure on an empty tile as far as repair teams are concerned. Teams that are assigned to autorepair will also handle scheduled actions.
- A new button for scheduling construction (that has a stopwatch on it) is added next to the start action.
- Resources do not need to be pre-purchased for a scheduled action because they will be purchased when the construction is completed by autoaction.
- Demoltion and deconstruction can be similary scheduled, so that it is possible to mark an entire forest for clearcutting, for example.
- If an action has a hotkey, SHIFT+Hotkey will schedule it instead of starting it.
- There is no schedule for resource production, because it is unnecessary to do this.
- For upgradeable buildings, schedules can be stacked to the maximum upgrade.
Staged construction
- Construction projects are broken up into various tasks (surveying, digging, carriage, stonecutting, sawing, etc), grouped by stages
- Every stage must be completed sequentially, but tasks within a stage may be completed simultaneously, as soon as possible.
- Building workers can be autoassigned tasks
- Because this also works for repair, the list of autorepair actions is changed so that it is a list of skills, not types of buildings.
- Example for staged construction of a house:
- Stage 1: Surveying, Carriage, Sawing, Stonecutting
- Stage 2: Digging
- Stage 3: Carpentry, Masonry

It's totally possible, as long as your villages are actually profitable. Though towns are unlikely to be profitable, I'd exchange it for a village unless you want to sacrifice some wealth for some industrial/economic independence.

you can make a good profit from towns even if half of your population are soldiers/builders. the new market made towns actually good income providers, but this is partially offset by the cost of establishing a town in the first place.

I don't know how long ago you quit, but prices are completely controlled by the guilds now, autopurchase and autosale work instantly, and your dudes buy stuff straight from the market. What all of this means is that you don't have to frick around with limit buys and sells, guild purchases, or setting up complicated interdomain supply chains (unless you are a qualitymaxxer).
A new continent spawns at the start of every astronomical season and it lasts for 18 months before returning to Fyndus. Northern continents spawn in the summer and Southerns in the winter so that pioneers have favorable conditions for settling. Equinocturnal continents are halfway in between and are favoured by Tileans.

the temporal sphere only determines the distance required between certain titles. when titles are in conflict, the game will automatically start a timer to demote to one of the organizations to a lower level title. This helps prevent everyone from claiming he is a prince and other such nonsense.

The only factors are available housing, happiness, and current population. If available housing * happiness > current population, then you will have a positive migration flow and will get a new unit.

Go to the finances tab for your domain and set worker pay to 150 denars/day then after a few days their happiness should be much higher. That's the easiest way to raise happiness, other ways are

a unit's equipment deteriorates when its health bar is reduced for whatever reason (walking, fighting, working, etc). it will autobuy a tool if available tool quality is greater than current quality by some threshold difference and if it has enough money. It won't autobuy an optional tool you don't tell it to equip said tool.

The "value" it shows in my resource management is always way higher than the money I get if I sell. This isnt to do with taxes because its a lot more than even the non-taxed number

The happiness boost is shown on the right hand column. It's variable depending on the skill of the performer, but it's usually around +10

One thing I should add is that if you can buy a horse and a saddle to equip to your lord, you'll get to that place much faster although you may need a few thousand gold to buy a saddle horse.

Hast weapons don't work inside buildings. A pikeman will put his pike on his back (somehow) and draw his sword.

The outer square is always considered outside. The inner square is inside only if there is a lock on the building. Palisades, for example, have a square but no lock, so the whole square is outside. Pikemen attacking from outside to inside will use their hast attack, and from inside to outside, their melee attack.

If you want to get rid of them then you need to wait until a week after you've founded them then you can liquidate by taking the owner to the centre square, going to the two shields menu, then doing the liquidate action. If you want to promote them to a priory which can actually do things, then you need to find a bishop or above to promote you.

yes, the game can be played just fine without all that fancy stuff for what I've seen, but hell, the ability to set up the roads and productions like quarries, fields, etc. is so damn good

I didnt notice a difference but the best thing apart from the tokens about lol+ is the fact you get additional domain slots. This is actually quite important and admin is moronic for not advertising this fact on the purchase screen

Admin adds purposeful delays to clicks and actions to just about every part of the game, and these are removed if you have LOL+
Literally just 250-500ms delays on stuff like selecting units and even longer for displaying movement logs.
There is no 'premium event server' just a removal of the built-in UI delays and checks on the server to see if enough time has elapsed to reveal the logs to your account.
