I don't know man, I haven't owned a Playstation since PS2 but I still know where all the buttons are. Also in tutorials like that usually the game won't let you don't anything else aside from the button they want you to press, so you can just button mash shit until it does what you want it to do. Whenever I play a new game the first thing I do is go through all the button to see what I'm capable of doing. >duck >jump >run >reload >use/interact >can I dash >can I double jump >do I have specials and where is the mana bar on screen that drains >attack >power attack >weapon selection wheel >inventory

You don't need to worry about Dragonrot at all. The first time it triggers it starts a quick questline where Emma makes a cure, and then once done you can very cheaply and easily get as many as you want if you use them. Plus the only thing it actually does is reduce Unseen Aid chance and not let you progress questlines if that person is sick, but again you can use and rebuy them whenever you want to.
I only (relatively) recently learned the difference between X and Y on the gamecube controller for the purpose of mario party. Growing up, I only really used X or Y in Smash, in which they do the same thing.

Bruh the shoulder buttons went from well shoulder buttons to bumper and trigger for no reason. L1/2 and R1/2 werent that hard to remember. If youre a real old gamer bumper means side buttons and the shoulder buttons arnt side buttons. Then theres also two things that can happen when using controllers on PC the worst is when it somehow confuses and swaps buttons around (X=O). The other is when it uses the wrong button prompts (XboxC for PSC and vice versa). Using Nintendos is probably the easiest because they havent changed much only adding two new buttons (home and screenshot).

People legit get confused by thsi kind of thing if they've only ever used one controller in their life. Maybe I have an advantage since I play retro games all the time and constantly change what controller/console I'm playing on, but I rarely actively recall which button is located where and instead go by the position it is relative to other buttons. X, A, and B on Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo diamond layout controllers are all the bottom face button, and so on. That's how I avoid confusion.
I do it when pressing ABXY with an Xbox controller. No idea why Sega with the Dreamcast and Microsoft with all their consoles decided to use the same button names as Nintendo, but put them in the opposite fricking positions.

What fricks me up is the button prompts switching from Xbox to ps to Nintendo and even the Japanese PlayStation and western one have different layouts. Going between them really messes with me. Especially if my controller isn't an Xbox, which is the default icon.

Same for both of these. I ended up getting two controllers with different layouts for emulation just so I don't have to translate button inputs into another layout.

Yeah it's not so much that the layout is confusing, so much as they want me to have my middle finger on the trigger button. Using my index finger on a trigger feels more natural.
Probably a bit due to my dyspraxia but telling between RB and RT is the limit of my twitch responses. I press the button is the Grenades or strong attack not problem but if a QTE comes on the screen specifically for LT, I've got to think about it and I'm probably going to frick it up.
I think everyone's got a limit. You give someone an airbus controller for a flight sim and even if you tell them all the buttons, they're probably going to have to think when they're told to press C7 to release the brakes.

Been using a PS4 pad for third person games for years and I still have to stop and think when it asks me to press share, options, or a specific side of the frickin touchpad thing. The A button on a Nintendo controller is the right face button. On xbox controller it's the bottom face button and then there's the playstations stupid shapes one of which is also a letter that's also on the other controllers but in a different location as well.

Game gives you a big on screen prompt to press X or die. Depending on the controller, X can be the top face button, the left face button or the bottom. You don't see how that can be annoying?
On Nintendo games, the "confirm" button is always on the right face button or "A" and cancel is the bottom or "B".
Xbox always has it them reversed and "A" for confirm is the bottom and "B" cancel is on the right.
Then there's playstation where its changed depending on the game and region.

L1/R1 aren't even the "primary" shoulder buttons anymore. Everything maps the basic actions to the lower pair these days. Numbers are the most arbitrary designation after Nintendo's L/R and ZL/ZR. Giving them actual names is better.

I occasionally do that if the controls for a game are really finicky. Just yesterday, I was playing through Skate 1 and had to check my hand position like fifteen times because the game is unforgiving and the difference between a Tre flip and a 360 pop-shuvit is barely anything.
It's not a pain. Those are easily translatable and game controls are very standardized at this point, so much of the time, you don't even need the prompt anymore.

Cuz they sorta look like bumpers? Who cares. I saw people calling them bumpers back during Halo 3. I'm pretty sure that's their official name too and was back then. It's to differentiate the different styles of buttons on a gamepad for clarity.

Nintendo just reverted back to the snes face buttons. And decided that it was time for everyone to start using the Japanese layout where the left button is confirm and the bottom one is cancel.
I still mix up X and Y though. Especially when playing ports of shit that I've been playing with an xbox controller.
I unironically had to do this when using a keyboard for Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit because I couldn't get my controller to sync up, I was so used to controllers that, without fail, I mixed up the action buttons with the movement, every single fricking time, every time I wanted to switch or spindash or just fricking jump Sonic ended up looking in different directions.
I got used to it by the halfway mark but frick me if starting out wasn't awkward as frick, I legitimately don't know how that woman is so calm.
Used a DS4 on pc and the prompts are with the xbox layout so when it tells me to hit rt I just had to wing it and hope for the best instead of being able to check otherwise I would've done this.
What's really a mind frick for me is switching around between systems / retro games where the relative position and use of A(X) / B(O) is always changing. The wires get crossed and I muscle memory off of the controller I am holding and the game I am playing interchangeably.

I have been seeing Ganker aggressively remove panels and words from strips for so many years and I have really only ever seen it actually improve a strip like two times.
Not saying a lot of those strips weren't bad, it too verbose, but what Ganker does to them in photoshop doesn't help.
I have experienced the opposite. Virtually any webcomic that went through the Ganker B^U filter ~10 years ago was drastically improved on its first edit. It was always subsequent edits from anons trying too hard that ruined the jokes or just destroyed any semblance of one.

Also in tutorials like that usually the game won't let you don't anything else aside from the button they want you to press, so you can just button mash shit until it does what you want it to do. Whenever I play a new game the first thing I do is go through all the button to see what I'm capable of doing.

You don't need to worry about Dragonrot at all. The first time it triggers it starts a quick questline where Emma makes a cure, and then once done you can very cheaply and easily get as many as you want if you use them. Plus the only thing it actually does is reduce Unseen Aid chance and not let you progress questlines if that person is sick, but again you can use and rebuy them whenever you want to.
I only (relatively) recently learned the difference between X and Y on the gamecube controller for the purpose of mario party. Growing up, I only really used X or Y in Smash, in which they do the same thing.

Bruh the shoulder buttons went from well shoulder buttons to bumper and trigger for no reason. L1/2 and R1/2 werent that hard to remember. If youre a real old gamer bumper means side buttons and the shoulder buttons arnt side buttons. Then theres also two things that can happen when using controllers on PC the worst is when it somehow confuses and swaps buttons around (X=O). The other is when it uses the wrong button prompts (XboxC for PSC and vice versa). Using Nintendos is probably the easiest because they havent changed much only adding two new buttons (home and screenshot).

People legit get confused by thsi kind of thing if they've only ever used one controller in their life. Maybe I have an advantage since I play retro games all the time and constantly change what controller/console I'm playing on, but I rarely actively recall which button is located where and instead go by the position it is relative to other buttons. X, A, and B on Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo diamond layout controllers are all the bottom face button, and so on. That's how I avoid confusion.

What fricks me up is the button prompts switching from Xbox to ps to Nintendo and even the Japanese PlayStation and western one have different layouts. Going between them really messes with me. Especially if my controller isn't an Xbox, which is the default icon.

Probably a bit due to my dyspraxia but telling between RB and RT is the limit of my twitch responses. I press the button is the Grenades or strong attack not problem but if a QTE comes on the screen specifically for LT, I've got to think about it and I'm probably going to frick it up.
I think everyone's got a limit. You give someone an airbus controller for a flight sim and even if you tell them all the buttons, they're probably going to have to think when they're told to press C7 to release the brakes.

The A button on a Nintendo controller is the right face button. On xbox controller it's the bottom face button and then there's the playstations stupid shapes one of which is also a letter that's also on the other controllers but in a different location as well.

I occasionally do that if the controls for a game are really finicky. Just yesterday, I was playing through Skate 1 and had to check my hand position like fifteen times because the game is unforgiving and the difference between a Tre flip and a 360 pop-shuvit is barely anything.
I only did this when I went from Sony controllers to Xbox ones, the X and the cross threw me off balance for a long time

I unironically had to do this when using a keyboard for Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit because I couldn't get my controller to sync up, I was so used to controllers that, without fail, I mixed up the action buttons with the movement, every single fricking time, every time I wanted to switch or spindash or just fricking jump Sonic ended up looking in different directions.
I got used to it by the halfway mark but frick me if starting out wasn't awkward as frick, I legitimately don't know how that woman is so calm.

I have been seeing Ganker aggressively remove panels and words from strips for so many years and I have really only ever seen it actually improve a strip like two times.
Not saying a lot of those strips weren't bad, it too verbose, but what Ganker does to them in photoshop doesn't help.
I have experienced the opposite. Virtually any webcomic that went through the Ganker B^U filter ~10 years ago was drastically improved on its first edit. It was always subsequent edits from anons trying too hard that ruined the jokes or just destroyed any semblance of one.
