What are your thoughts on the game? How well is it selling? Has anyone ever played it at your store or do people just buy it for collection purposes?
I'm happy that Atlantis: The Lost Empire is finally getting some attention. Hope we get Treasure Planet cards too.

I knew it would be scalped to frick and back, so never bothered looking into it at all.
This.
Scalpers, prospectors, investors, and other homosexuals killed any interest I had before the game even came out.
Play it online with Pixelborn. It's a cool game. Currently. Probably gonna go the way of every other TCG in a few years, with power creep up the wazoo.
Will they ever do a digital version like all the other popular card games do?
There's an unofficial digital version called Pixelborn that's actually pretty capably made. No idea if an official digital client will come out. After Arena's laughable tenure as the most popular ccg app I'm concerned to see what kind of half-assed monstrosity Disney shits out.
Pretty much dead. It's readily available on shelves so now that scalpers can't get anything more out of it nobody actually wants to play the game itself.
I play in two leagues every week, and it's a blast. Looking forward to Organized Play and bigger tournaments starting soon.
So what's the meta like? What are the players like?
>Meta
The strongest decks right now are Ruby/Amethyst bounce/aggro and Amber/Steel Songs with Flutes. Sapphire/Steel is fairly competitive in the right matchups. Thankfully most of the people in my area aren't meta slaves since there aren't big stakes.
>Players
Here we have a huge variety. Plenty of former MTG players, Disney fans just getting into it, little kids, pretty much all types. So far I've had no bad experiences with anyone.
>I play in two leagues every week
Why? Why would you, who I assume to be a grown man, play a corporate advertisement masquerading as a card game about children's cartoon characters?
Because it's fun and I enjoy the social interactions?
There must be cheaper and less degrading ways to those things.
We already have Treasure Planet cards. On that note, I think John Silver might be the card with the most types. Not sure why "Captain" is its own type but most animals don't have a type.
There's a few tribal affecting cards, just not one for captains yet. Could be a future plan, could just be flavor.
I just wish cat and dog tribal were a thing. They're willing to make a joke Tigger type just for Tigger but won't use other animals?
Completely fair point. But you do get a Puppy type.
I should've known that Dalmatians would be the rats of this game.
I was today years old when I realized that the 101 Dalmatians count includes Pongo and Perdy, so there are actually 99 puppies.
Unless you're going by the original story, in which there were 97 puppies and four Adult Dalmatians (2 couples - Pongo and Missis; Perdita and Prince)
The original story had some weird stuff. 1/3
>angle of the dog star
Pffft... he can be your angle or your De Vil.
>The original story had some weird stuff.
Not as weird as the sequel from eleven years after the first book and six years after the movie which is what's shown in the pictures you posted.
>De Vil
Just in case people reading the book didn't make the connection, her family home is Hell Hall. Surprised Disney didn't change the spelling do "de Ville" so it looked more like vile than devil.
>99 copies
I get the joke, but what are the deck-building rules? No upper limit?
The normal rules are:
>60 card minimum, no maximum
>Four copies of any card
>Only two colors of ink max
I like that the game is a bit more forgiving with going above the minimum, and 65-70 card decks are not that uncommon.
>no maximum
They'll regret it if a troll ever brings something like pic related to a tournament.
These lads should be heralded as heroes. They found a flaw in a TCG and exploited it so hard in such a funny way that the devs had to literally change the rules of the game to prevent it from happening again. Truly amazing stuff.
Regret? That would mean somebody has bought that many cards. Good for business.
I want to build a deck that is just 1,000 copies of the alternate art foil Alice.
>b-but the copy limit
Don't care.
I hope this game remains safe from the coomers like you.
>not one for Captains yet
There's Starkey, but that's the only one I can think of.
Oh yeah I did forget about him since he's not worth using yet. But at least the concept is there.
Yeah, it feels like he could be a decent card with a little more Captain-related support. I feel like Captain meta is on the way... apparently Piglet is going to be a Captain in the next set for some reason.
Because it's a Dreamborn Piglet, who imagines himself as a brave pirate captain.
>Lost Empire and Treasure Planet getting attention
Give me good arts already!!
>tranime poster
>ESL
Go away
This b***h does so much work for me it's unreal.
I would like to get into this game, how much money would I have to go spending on booster packs and the like? I don't do singles.
>I don't do singles.
Why not?
not that anon but i dont do it because it feels dirty like im using someone's trash
singles aren't fun for me, and I think it gives a bad taste in my mouth. I want the full on authentic experience of pulling some cards and crafting a deck.
I enjoy opening packs for than most, but if I need four copies of a specific rare and I already have three, it's more economically viable to just buy that last copy.
that sucks all the fun out of games
I guess that would depend on what you find fun. I'm just trying to make the deck I want without spending a fortune and ending up with thousands of extra commons.
What if instead of buying it you trade with a friend or someone else you meet at the store?
A good way to do it. I even did a box break with some friends, where we all paid for part of the box, picked a color, and we just took all cards from that color that came out. Sure sometimes someone gets more rares than you but if you just want to focus on making one solid deck it's a good way to focus.
I wish TCGs were designed to encourage this.
How are they not? Do you not know what the T in TCG stands for?
they should be honest and switch the T for a C
Trading is still a part of collecting. There's a very healthy trade culture for the game around me, with people all looking for different things. Cards for competitive play, single full sets or foils for collecting, etc, and every body trades to get what they want.
Haven't they changed the acronym to CCG to reflect the reality that people tend to collect cards and practically never trade?
No, it's officially a Trading Card Game. Not that it really makes a difference. Also at least around me everyone wants to trade, since it's the easiest and cheapest way to collect.
They are. The problem is that they aren't designed to discourage trading for money, which is likely an impossible issue to solve.
>aren't designed to discourage trading for money, which is likely an impossible issue to solve.
Is that so?
If you abolish money, people will simply trade them for commodities and sexual favors. This is why communism never works.
Communism doesn't work because it doesn't account for human nature, only fricking aliens could make it work.
Neither does Capitalism tbf if you read its core assumptions and how many perfectly spherical cows economists need to make shit work. Like people being perfectly aware of all markets and always making 100% rational decisions to pick the best product for the best price (advertising only exists to make you aware of a product).
Capitalism is the worst excpet for all the other systems we've tried, we're all aware. The failure of captialism is better for more people for longer periods on avarage than the failure of comunism or anything else.
it surely is solvable, but idt anyone is going to want to solve it, if you catch my drift.
Didn't Wizards talk about trying to allow card sales only through them? Or am I hallucinating?
Card games aren't actually fun anyways, what's fun is the idea of fun you could be having before reality sets in and crushes all your expectations into dust.
board games are fun, so a customizable card game should be fun, logically. but when it's all about rarities, and you get all these "common" cards that aren't useful it kills any fun. Monopoly is criticized for being too simple, but even it doesn't have useless chance or community chest cards. it's fricking horseshit to have useless cards in a card game. I want to shove it up everyone's asses. how many common cards do you think the average anus could hold?
Every deck is going to run a good amount of commons and uncommons, as rares are usually much more specialized. There's also alternative formats that makes those lower cards shine (draft, sealed, pauper, etc).
In a well designed tcg there are no useless cards, but that's looking at them as single cards. The reality is that in searching packs for the rares you need, you will quickly accumulate more copies of each common than you're legally allowed to use, and because everyone else has this problem you won't get anything for those cards in trade or sale. They are completely worthless
>The reality is that in searching packs for the rares you need, you will quickly accumulate more copies of each common than you're legally allowed to use, and because everyone else has this problem you won't get anything for those cards in trade or sale. They are completely worthless
Which is a problem every TCG has, and the only real solution is to switch to something like an LCG format which is a very different thing.
That's when you repackage all your commons and resell them to the Dollar Store.
The shop I play at will almost always buy bulk commons and stuff for cheap, or we just use them for fun random shit or give them away to kids.
It's simple: we just need to create an "expandable commons" format for TCGs. After play, you destroy a set quantity of your common cards (like maybe if you lose or whatever goes into the discard pile). That way you're getting rid of your excess shit while also encouraging players to experiment with their non-staple cards.
The starter decks are all perfectly playable if you just want an idea of how the game works. If you want to get "serious" you can typically make a solid semi-competitive deck out of probably a box of boosters.
a whole box? Is that common? I find that Pokemon tends to hit rather good around 10 packs of boosters. I've hit on some good cards for my decks (Fire, Electric, and a Psychic)
I've basically sworn not to get into MtG because of the expense, and since this is not only a new game, but one modeled after iconic characters, I figured this might be a good game to get into fresh.
Well your question of "how much does it take to get into?" is rather vague. If you just want to be able to technically play, a single starter. Everyone has different playstyles, groups, competitive levels, etc. If you're "serious", I normally recommend a box for most games because that near guarantees a whole playset of commons, most of the uncommons, and a good selection of rare and better cards.
But since I have no idea what you're shooting for so I can't really answer.
I'd like to try it, but the product at my LGS is marked up, overpriced and/or scalped. If I can get my hands on a cheap lot of commons/uncommons, I'd like to give it a shot for fun. But until then, I won't bother.
I'm glad our local community didn't stand for that shit.
>Five different shops at launch that all want to do weekly league plays
>Four of them charge slightly over retail because they are getting charged more by the suppliers. One decides to charge double to triple for everything
>Fast forward to now, those four shops all get a consistent 15-20 players per week, while the scalping buttholes struggle to get 4, even though they've lowered their prices back down
Also why post unrelated pics of random chinks with your posts?
It is so bizarre to see my friend's daughter posted here.
How long before we get Encanto cards? I want a Luisa Madrigal card.
Hopefully not for a long time. There's a ton of better movies and shows that have either no or little attention that needs cards first.
I don't think they'll be doing any shows, Disney's licensing department is completely indifferent at best and outright contemptuous at worst when it comes to Disney Channel original series, only the movies matter to them.
Except Duck Tales and Tale Spin are already confirmed for the next set, so you're already wrong.
Point taken, but Duck Tales and Tale Spin aren't original properties though, they're based on movie characters. If they do something with Darkwing Duck, Phineas and Ferb or Gravity Falls, then I'll admit to being fully in the wrong.
Duck Tales was a TV series first before being a movie (and the characters were from comics before that), and only a few characters in Tale Spin were from a movie (and alternate universe versions at that).
But it's fine, put the goal post wherever you need it to be.
I thought that Donald's nephews and Uncle Scrooge were from the old movie shorts, but Google tells me that you are correct and actually come from comics. Fine, I'll admit to being wrong.
All good. I'm not a typical Disney shill but I'm willing to give them credit with this so far since they are actually using a lot of properties that don't get enough attention and seem to be doing what the fans want, so they get some points so far.
My understanding is that the artist for the comic strip, not comic book, invented them to be used in a short film. He did this so he could use them in the comic strip because the strip was adaptations of the films.
The comic strip was published before the film was released but the film was in production before the comic strip that first featured them was being worked on. This makes the strip their first appearance but their origin is the shorts.
I mean the nephews, not Scrooge. Scrooge came to the movies years after the comics.
Doesn't matter too much, as they aren't using any one version. The cards for the boys look more like the older cartoon, yet Della is straight from the 2017 show.
And other cards directly referencing the 2017 show.
I'd consider buying some cards if we get Amphibia or the Owl House representation.
>I"ll only play if there's brown underage zoomer lesbians
I hope you don't play.
Go back to your containment threads in Wrong board. Even regulars on that board despise you.
Sorry anon. Disney is unlikely to feature an unprofitable show that nobody watched
>Owl House
Cute protag but why it had to be gay?
Uhh, it's 2024, sweetie. Everyone's gay.
Amphibia is better and Anne is STRAIGHT and into muscles
Will they ever use Pixar characters?
Very likely, but nothing officially said yet.
I don't think they have the rights to that yet.
I am dying for some Toy Story. I heard that a fifth movie is going to come one here eventually, so maybe they will launch a product line then?
If Disney hadn't put in so much effort burning bridges with its older fans over the past couple of decades, I might actually have been interested.
They don't deserve any money for what they've done.
How the frick are we getting into communism? And how do people think it's not open to trading?
>Hey bro want to trade your Maleficent for my Beast?
>Sure bro, sounds good
It's that fricking easy.
Simple and decently fun, but I'm not paying $6 for a fricking booster on the rare occasions I fund one.
I have 1 copy of every precon so far and that's about it outside some pauper singles and the packs in the decks.
In fairness the rarity distribution in boosters is more generous than other TCGS, so the price is understandable.
How do we feel about the current most expensive card in the game? $45+ on the secondary market.
Why is it so expensive? Is it because it's a powerful meta staple?
Yes. Extra card draw is somewhat limited right now (unless you're playing purple), so a consistent extra card draw every turn on top of being a big threatening body is very good. Being able to possibly get him out as early as turn 3 is just icing.
FRICKLORCANA
Cut the chaff and post giant Tink.
I will play this game ONLY when I can make a deck entirely out of Alice cards. I will settle for nothing less.
Alice characters seem to be mostly Emerald, so it might not be long before you can.
Alice herself, or just Alice in Wonderland? Since you can nearly make a whole deck of Alice in Wonderland cards.
Ideally Alice herself, but hey, if I can make a Wonderland deck right now I'll fricking do it.
Alice herself only has the one card so far, but it is a good one.
I understand the name storyborn and dreamborn as being a minor re-imagining of the character but what's the logic behind the name floodborn? How does flood mean major revision? Surely it can't have been something stupid like the designer's had a flood of new ideas. Is it like a flood of the magical ink or something picturesque like that?
So all the characters in the game are not the original characters but are Glimmers, summoned versions of the characters. Lumineers (the players) summon them using magical ink.
During some as-of-yet unnamed tragedy a shitload of ink was spilled from the main place it's stored and flooded part of the world (Thus the next expansion being in The Inklands). Any Glimmers caught in the flood were changed due to basically an ink overload and there not being a Lumineer to control it.
Not surprising that Lorcana has lore, but the flavor text doesn't do a good job of explaining it.
A lot of it is really vague so far. There's been a few Youtube videos, and there are collector boxes with booklets that explain it a bit more, but right now there isn't a whole lot more to know and is intentionally mysterious.
Thank you elegantgentlemen
The latter, yes. I believe it will be a major theme in the next set.
Honestly, I don't get the point of the whole Xborn types. I agree with
that we should have more tribal creature types. Not just animals, but humans, toys, etc.
>the point of the whole Xborn types
I can only suppose it's to give context to players who are familiar with the source material. Seeing Robin Hood with a bow just like the movies, that's normal. Belle wearing skintight hunting leathers, a wolf teeth necklace, looking like she eats five dozen eggs for breakfast every day and wailing on people with a Gaston-sized blunderbuss, that's a bit different from the movies. Easier to say "she's floodborn" as an in-universe explanation than just say in the rule book "we felt like reimagining some of the characters else the game would fall flat when we had to keep using the same old ones for fighty stuff".
They also function as their own tribals and plenty of cards affect one type of *born or another, so it all works.
Good point.
I asked my LGS how much a pack was. They asked me if I was in "the league." I told them I had no idea what that was. They said the sign up period was over so it was 15 dollars a pack. Lost all interest then.
That's a shitty store that no one should go to. Rise of the Floodborn is readily available at MSRP.
Yeah, don't buy above MSRP, which is around $7.50 a pack, but I'd recommend getting a starter deck ($25) instead of starting off with boosters. It would take too many boosters to build a legal deck that way.
MSRP is $7 and $13 respectively.
The starters are only $13 there? I'm in Canada, so that's probably why.
I'm in united states and it's $16
Yeah, that sounds about right. The US always gets things a bit cheaper than Canada.
i'll consider playing only if we get big butt robot princess representation
We got Treasure Planet and upcoming sets are going to feature some Disney Afternoon characters... if they keep digging for properties like that, you might just get your wish.
You say that as if Disney Afternoon is filled with obscure properties, half of these are just movie spin offs. If anything its directly pandering to the infantile 30-45yo buying and playing this game.
AS the ifantile age group you mentioned (frick you very much), I've never seen Disney throw Disney Afternoon fans a bone.
>half of these are just movie spin offs
>aladdin
>timon & pumba
>101 dalmations
>hercules
That's 4 of the 16 shows on the Disney Afternoon. All of the others were original content.
Speaking of, which Disney Afternoon shows would you like to see in Lorcana? For me, it would be Gargoyles.
And guess what, the original content shows aren't getting any cards in Lorcana because Disney's licensing department only cares about movies and movie-based properties.
Except they already are, so I'm not sure why you're even trying to argue.
DuckTales and TaleSpin aren't original content.
Of the ones they haven't already announced, Bonkers. An extreme long shot but would be funny.
I still don't understand what was happening in Fireball. It seemed like every new series was going further back in time, despite the dates saying otherwise.
It made me realize how out of touch I am, can't believe everyone loves Disney slop so much.
Mousecuck garbage
its simple enough that my girlfriend and non gamer friend can play it and have fun.
So far it's striking a pretty good balance between being accessible and still having enough depth for competitive play. Having no dedicated resource cards helps a lot, since it lets you just pick cards you like.
The game seems to be doing well at my local store. They took steps to limit scalping opportunities (mostly by capping sales of stuff and prioritising stock for regular league attendance). All in all, no-one has taken any issue with it except the one guy who phoned the store a dozen or so times asking if he could buy a whole unsealed booster box, was told no each time, and then turned up at the end of the day saying he'd been told he could buy a whole box.
Store policy was simple; you could buy half a box worth of boosters. If you and a friend came along, they'd happily sell you half a new box, then your friend half the box, but you weren't getting a whole unsealed box to yourself.
That's completely fair, and the store I play it did something similar. When the second set was coming out they let the regular league players pre-buy 10 packs each, then on the day of release anything that was left was first come first serve to everyone, limited to 6 packs.
The plan is to probably do something similar for the next set, but apparently they are hopeful that the supply will be much better this time so it'll be less of an issue.
My store was able to be pretty liberal with the boosters (aside from the half-box limit per person and starter decks for the second set. The other stuff which came along at the same time was much more limited, and was pretty much pre-order only with the regular attendees getting a headstart. Hopefully such measures won't be as needed in future once the scalpers lose interest.
Yeah troves and gift sets were a lottery and hard to find. On that note, I'm glad that they listened to feedback and the new troves will actually have extra shit in them that players might want.
>spindown lore counter
>Dice for damage tracking
>Colored separators for cards
I might actually be tempted to pick up the Trove for this set. The card separators and the Lore Tracker seem pretty nice.
only boosters? weak
That's what the troves have always been, boosters plus some accessories in a box. What were you expecting/wanting?
starter decks and sleeves at least, a box of boosters might as well be a booster box.
More mices.
Mice is already plural.
I like saying mices and meeses
Bernard would work really well with Christopher Robin.
100% the combo I was thinking. Or even just two Bernards readying each other.
Or use it to ready Moana, after she readied all of your princesses.
Is this game going to rotate like Standard in MtG? Is there any word for alternative formats yet?
I don't believe there's any intention to rotate, at least not on behalf of Ravensburger. From what I've heard, they intend to keep each set continuously available, so why limit sales by enforcing rotation?
As for alternative formats, I haven't heard much yet, though personally, I'd love to see a format with a much higher Lore ceiling.
Nothing stopping people from doing tournaments in any format. Locally I've played in sealed, draft, and Poorcana (Pauper).
Would an EDH/Commander format work in this game once the card pool gets big enough? I don't even know the rules, just interested in how the game is shaping up so far.
Possibly, but considering Commander was invented because MTG is fricking shit I don't see why we would need to do that to Lorcana.
The card pool would definitely need to be MUCH deeper first. We're still only 2 sets in, at this point, there's barely enough variety to support really good unique decks with a 4 card copy max.
In the competitive scene we've seen at least three unique top tier decks, and a number of semi-competitive ones. For being only two sets in it feels like we're off to a good start.
>three
Well, that's why I say 'barely'. It IS doing well so far, and I'm excited to see where they take things (I really want to know how these upcoming 'Location' cards are going to alter play), but I think my statement still stands... we're still many sets away from being able to reasonably support something like Commander.
Sorry, my post came off as more disagreeable than I am. I do wholeheartedly agree it's too early for any alternate format outside of draft/sealed. Though I personally hope they never go down the Commander style route and try to keep the game fairly straightforward.
No need to apologize, I may have sounded overly negative, too. I also agree that we certainly don't need something as drastic a variant as Commander... a huge shift in playstyle like that implies there's something wrong with the original standard game format, which is thankfully not an issue that Lorcana has yet!
I'm just glad that we can all come together in out mutual loathing of the shitshow that is Commander/EDH.
Haha! I actually do dabble in playing a bit of Commander, but I consider it to be a necessary evil that's keeping Magic from dying completely. That's part of the reason I like Lorcana so much, it feels like going back to the early days of Magic without repeating some of the mistakes Magic made along the way.
I bought my first two starter sets to play and a bunch of boosters. I think this will replace Pokemon TCG for me. Haven't started playing yet but the card design is quite nice and I can see myself collecting this going forward.
Big
Any info leaked about how Locations work?
We know everything about how they work. Top right is play cost, that's normal. Left is the cost to move a character there, right is the health (locations can be challenged by characters and destroyed). You score the amount of lore shown on the card at the beginning of your turn.
Interesting. It will be good to see them in action.
I hate sideways cards because if you try and read them in your hand you give away to your opponent that you have one.
I literally have never seen any of the starter sets or anything other than a booster pack being sold anywhere. When the game first came out, I was a little interested because it seemed like something I could play with my family, but scalpers and fat FotM TCG losers scoop everything up on day zero. And what few booster packs I have seen have been very rare instances. (The most well stocked store in my state had four packs left, locked behind a glass case. While I was on vacation in another state, a high-traffic board game/hobbiest shop had a couple booster packs left on a single hook behind the counter.)
Average joes can't play it, so why even bother?
Seems like things started to get better in my area just before Xmas. Now I can walk into any Gamestop or Toys r' Us (we still have those in Canada) and reasonably expect there to be some in stock, plus all the hobby stores, Chapters/Indigo bookstores and Hot Topic have it in stock, and occasionally Walmart.
>Prince John and Little John have cards
>Robin has two
>No Marian
This is some bullshit.
Prince John is such a nice card though, holy crap. I need a couple more copies of him.
Here's hoping Marion gets a card in the next set.
Prince John, with Bucky and Bogo while playing Floodborns is fantastic.
That and Daisy Duck and Hypnotize. So many cards for me, and none for my opponent... unless I play Gentleman Donald.
And a third Robin.
and one day he'll get a playable one.
Steel Robin sees a decent amount of play, as consistent pinging for damage is helpful for finishing people off.
That green one is perfectly playable. He's the lowest cost unconditional four lore quester, and five will power is enough to withstand most threats at that point.
I've currently got several steel Robins in my deck, combined with 4 sets of Mouse Armor and The Prince, who already has +1 Resistance and Bodyguard, so Robin's safe behind a nice big wall of shields while he peppers the enemy with arrows.
Seems like a fun card
That one's going in my Emerald deck for sure.
Solid aggro card, easily better than Lilo or Maleficent for the same slot.
>'Tis I who lead this fearsome crew
>With dagger, swagger, derring-do!
>Handsome and fearsome and suave
>He's the famous pirate captain Don Karnage!
>Don Massacre
Ha, it's always weird to hear Disney character names in other languages. Does anyone have a translation of his ability? If not, I'll try to google translate it later and post it.
He has Evasive, that's all.
Oh, makes sense.
If I were a pedophile, hypothetically, how many children would picking up this card game expose me to?
>If
Stop dodging the question
Less than you might think, since the nostalgia factor is pretty high and brings in a lot of 'Disney Adults'. Stick with catfishing kids on social media.
Which decks are "furry" decks? I want to know which ones to avoid.
every lorcana card is furry if you squint hard enough
That's stupid. You're stupid.
That being said, off tge top of my head, getting a 7 Dwarves deck or a princess/item deck is probably the best way to avoid any 'furry' cards.
Why would you buy a Disney product if you wanted to avoid furries? That's like buying a houseplant when you hate DIRT.
I'm going to make my deck as furry as possible. Preferably as mousy as possible.
Hmm... you've got Mickey and Minnie, The Great Mouse Detective, and these new Rescuers cards... what other mice am I missing?
There's multiple Mickey's and Minnies, and Mouse Detective got a lot between Basil, Hiram, Mrs. Judson. So we may not be quite there yet but we are close to the mouse only deck.
Oh and Ratigan, since he is absolutely 100% unquestionably a mouse and not rat.
I suppose you could use other small animals like squirrels or chameleons in substitution for now. I'm kind of surprised that they haven't added Cinderella's mice yet.
Who?
He's from Treasure Planet.
He fills the same role as Israel Hands does in the novel, he was just renamed because, well, "Israel".
I can't blame Disney for this one, as the character has nothing to do with Israel the nation beyond sharing a name (and in fact is even named after a real pirate who actually existed, the second-in-command to Blackbeard), but it just would not be worth any potential controversy that someone might dream up from either side of the political aisle. I'd have made the call to change the name too. Though I probably would have changed it to Basilica Hands since that was another name that the real Israel Hands went by.
I AM a bit miffed about changing the Hispaniola to the Legacy, especially seeing as John Silver in the novel has a few lines to the effect that he feels it's terrible bad luck to change a ship's name. Whatever she was christened with is the name she should keep.
I don't even know how you are supposed to buy it. I found a starter deck at launch and nothing since. I haven't even opened it since there's no point.
What country are you in?
At least in the US it's not terribly hard to find anymore.
Fat furgays getting some love.
Wait, what is this from? The Trove?
These are the League play prizes. Any store can order a League play kit and give these out as they see fit.
Oh, that makes so much sense. Getting dalmations as a participation prize somehow seems very fitting.
It cut off, but it's a pack of dalmatian sleeves.
Oh, not the cards themselves? That's kind of disappointing.
The cards themselves are common, and it shouldn't be hard to get a lot of them.
Sure, I get that. I'm just comparing it to another game I used to go to tournaments for: Highlander. They used to have special prize cards called Tear Cards that they'd give out to participants, sometimes in large quantities if they placed high enough, and you could get a good pile of them quickly. I don't know if I 'd ever intentionally try to collect 99 puppies by buying/trading, but earning them by going to tournaments seems more worthwhile somehow. But, maybe that's just me.
Grabbed a couple of Floodborn boosters today, and finally got that Purple Dragon Madam Mim that I've been looking for! Ahhh... please excuse me while I ride this dopamine rush.
Nice, the regular or the enchanted? Either way she's a solid card and has worked as a great closer for me.
Regular, but foil. Though, I'll be honest, I get annoyed by the foils in this game because I find it just makes them harder to read while on the table.
Yeah I personally have no interest in the foils. Thankfully a lot of local people to me do, so they make for outstanding trade deals for me when I have them.
It's just the deckbuilder Keyforfe.
Keyforfe? You want some covfefe to go with that, Mr. Trump?
I stopped going back to the hobbytown that was hosting cause I would be the only person going since october. No one else is hosting in my area so I'll just put the decks in deep storage till I'm grey probably
Well, maybe try giving it another month... set 3 comes out in 3 weeks. Maybe the hype will get people back in the store?
A nice combo with Pluto
That looks like it's going to be a very useful card!
Both are very useful. Being able to ramp to 3 ink cards on turn 2 is big, and being able to shift into a huge bodyguard on 4 if you like is very strong.
Sure, both are great, I wouldn't argue that, I'm just saying the 1-ink Pluto is the kind of useful that should be a staple in almost every Amber deck, whereas the other is definitely good, but more situational.
A cheaper version of Lantern that can quest when you have nothing to play is quite amazing. I'm so curious what the meta is about to do with the introduction of Locations generating passive lore and so many new cards under 3 cost that seem to help get out bigger cards.
I think series 1 cards that were cost prohibited will be able to start appearing in more decks. Here's hoping we see a little shake up from the current 10 decks.
>the current 10 decks
Do they have these listed somewhere? I'm curious as to whether I ended up channeling the meta with my own decks without realizing it.
Not him, but the big deck types I've seen are
>Ruby/Amethyst bouncing
>Amber/Steel song singing
>Steel/Sapphire midrange
Interesting. I recently switched my Amethyst bounce deck from a steel secondary to a ruby secondary. Hope it pays off.
You'll like the extra aggro and hard removal. Bouncing Lady Tremaines and Dragons feels really bad for them.
TIL that the Titans from Hercules have names.
What's weird is how badly Disney fricked up on some of them. The giant cyclops is named Arges, when the actual Arges (Argos, Argus, whatever) was known for having a hundred eyes. It's the complete fricking opposite.
According to the Disney wiki, they were apparently given names in the original artbook of Hercules, but I think this is the first time all of these names have been used in expanded media. I don't think they had names in Kingdom Hearts for instance, just Rock Titan, Ice Titan, etc.
Why aren't they villains?
Because unironically they aren't. They are forces of nature that that originally just acted according to their nature. Zeus locked them up and so when they are free they are understandably pissed and want revenge.
>they are just forces of nature that are now pissed
Understandable. Gives real "I speak for the trees, and the trees say frick you" vibe.
As opposed to the Greek myths, where the Titans were merely Zeus' father Cronus and his siblings who ruled the world that the Olympians deposed. Although granted, Cronus did eat Zeus' siblings before vomiting them out, so he had it coming.
Greek myths could be pretty fricked up, and Disney likes to ignore the fact that Hera was not exactly the loving mother they depicted her as (in her defense, Zeus is an extremely adulterous bastard, and Herc is not her son), and she drove him temporarily mad and made him kill Meg and the children they had together.
Y'know, because Greek mythology tells the most wholesome stories. Perfect for a Disney adaptation, right?
>Perfect for a Disney adaptation, right?
I mean it made $252.7 million against an $85 million budget, which was pretty typical for the time. It's still considered a comfortable part of the Renaissance that stretched from The Little Mermaid thru to Tarzan.
So I don't know if it was "perfect", but it seems to have done alright for itself.
Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the Hercules movie! It's a certified Disney masterpiece. I was making more of a commentary about how the roots of the story are dark and disturbing. But, then again, the same goes for a lot of other Disney movie story origins.
True, or that Hades isn't a cartoonishly evil dude. Just misunderstood. And that the Greeks didn't really pray to a death god, more like they would pray to some life god or goddess instead. Or that speaking his name is like inviting misfortune.
>Greeks didn't really pray to a death god, more like they would pray to some life god or goddess instead
That's a bit misleading. They might not have been in the habit of getting on their knees at bedtime with folded hands saying "Hades make me rich and spare me from death until I am old" but Greeks certainly made sacrifices to Hades just as they made sacrifices to the Olympians.
Some mystery cults worshipped him. One said he was identical with Zeus and another said he was also Dionysus. Zeus, Hades and Dionysus could even be worshipped together as three aspects of a single unified god. While he wasn't all that popular and Greeks did avoid his name and used euphemistic epithets instead he was worshipped and prayed to.
If anything, Hades was one of the nicest gods by the admittedly very low standards set by the rest of the Greek pantheon. His only real dick move was kidnapping Persephone. Meanwhile Zeus was out there raping every woman he could find, Hera was punishing all the women Zeus raped, Poseidon was flooding towns for the lulz, Ares was out there starting wars, etc.
Which is what I found funny about the game Hades... I was like, Zagreus, you're tryin' to hang with the wrong crowd.
Even kidnapping Persephone was with Zeus's permission. Which makes his only real bad action less evil.
>His only real dick move was kidnapping Persephone
He did the same thing with the Rape of Leuce, the daughter of Oceanus.
>Hope we get Treasure Planet cards too.
Literally the only thing I'm interested with this game. How many cards are there? Still just Long John Silver?
There's also Jim Hawkins, Morph and Scroop so far, as well as the Map of Treasure Planet as an artifact, so we'll probably get Treasure Planet as a location as well.
The cards haven't been shown but it's been confirmed through reliable leaks that the Legacy and Captain Amelia are in.
What leaks?
Map of Treasure Planet might make for a fun brew.
maybe this is a fever dream i had....but i thought i saw a 1 cost quest for 2 simba for ruby, like a ruby lilo making a wish. has anyone else seen this card?
Hmm. Could it have come from that custom Lorcana card generator? If it's not a listed official card or a leak of an upcoming card, it could have been something fanmade.
2 great cards, both are blonde and giantess. Mmm, I see a pattern.
No you don't.
>a pattern
That a giantess is literally a 'big' deal, and requires a powerful mechanic to go along with it? It has nothing to do with your fetish. It's just common sense.
Yeah frick this shit.
As an Amethyst player who's struggling to make his deck more effective... even I think this is kinda broken.
It just feels nonsensical. Like why not make it "draw 1 card"? That makes it an alternative to Friends on the Other Side without being too good; giving up one extra card draw for a lot of extra knowledge.
Well, that, and it's not only cheap to play, but inkable, too? It seems like it has too many upsides and not a single drawback.
Inkable and singable. So yeah, it's a bit too good.
Yeah, and a thought occurs... with Mikey and the Brooms out, you could potentially create a loop if you had multiples of this song. That would be hard to pull off, but it has the potential to be fricking bananas.
Why are we autosaging? We're not even at post limit.
Does the board have a time limit on threads or something? Well either way this one was fun, maybe we'll have another soon.
>time limit
Oh, that's probably it. According to the first post, this thread is now a week old.
>this one was fun
I wouldn't jump ship yet... this is a very slow board.
Anyway, with the pre-release of Into The Inklands less than 3 weeks away, I don't see any reason not to start a new thread as soon as this one dies.
