The lore and stuff, anon.
You sever god's connection to the world in the first game.
Second game seems to be about him trying to return through corrupting humans instead of using his army of soulless husks.
This game's development was a mess.
There is a game from 2014 with the same exact name which was trash, but it sold well because it was one of the first Dark Souls clones.
They wanted to make a sequel, but it was in complete development hell for years, changed management, changed studios, then in the end they abandoned the idea of making a sequel at all and just went with a reboot and kept the name.
what is with all the shilling of this remake of a shit game?
>am I crazy or has this game already released multiple times, or do they all just have nearly identical names
there is a Lords of the Fallen released back in 2014, OP's game is a remake/reboot
When you roll you have to consider where you're standing, where you're going to be during the I-frames, and where you're going to end up at the conclusion of the roll. Plus all of that is relative to how you've read the boss and where you think they will be during all of that and after.
With a deflect you just read the attack. That's it. That's the gameplay. It completely makes positional awareness irrelevant. Just read the ddr mechanic and press button to win. It's absolutely braindead.
Could Fromshit make rolls better? Could Fromshit come up with something better than arbitrary animation delays? Yeah they could and I wish they would.
But they'll never be as braindead as Sekiro's game of Bop-It
If anything repositioning makes the gameplay easier, moron. lmao What kind of an argument is that? Deflects only grant you a temporary invincibility and you are bound to your stationary position which makes you get easily overwhelmed by flurry of attacks since you can't make room between you and the enemy like you do with dodges. That is why learning the enemy's moveset is much more rewarding since even a slight mistake can get you killed.
>When you roll you have to consider where you're standing, where you're going to be during the I-frames, and where you're going to end up at the conclusion of the roll
why do rollgays always pretend this is true? you can literally roll in place against a boss in every dark souls game and its functionally identical to deflecting
Not true in Elden Ring, a large chunk of boss attacks are designed so that if you don't roll out of their range they will roll catch you, such as Margit's dagger slashes.
I liked how the secret to Elden Ring rolling was to continuously roll TOWARD the bosses. The instinct to step backwards or strafe inevitably got you hit, but playing like a suicidal maniac was a viable defense.
>You cannot explain why deflect bad roll good
Multiple people did
Wo Long proved that right
This will also prove it right. Deflect is braindead, kills any need for/optional skill ceiling derived from positioning/spacing in your gameplay and drags down the whole game and boss fights into simple shitty reaction checks when you aren't strategizing around your gear and offensive and defensive abilities, just playing a rhythm game
>You cannot explain why deflect bad
You must be fricking moronic if you can't understand it
?t=113
These bosses and combat are designed around tanking and countering or an iframe mode where you get half your iframes as recovery frames aka rollcatch window. Deflects are stupid iframes move that also reset and have near zero recovery with no disadvantage and ON TOP OF THAT they create your free opening.
I think the idea is that Souls games from From don't have lenient parry times unless it's Bloodborne or Sekiro unless you use really specific things like ER's Ash of War parry or bucklers in DaS. This leads to devs seeing a feature that is unused by most people that they could improve and make fun. That's why you see games like Steelrising, The Surge 2, Mortal Shell, Little Witch Nobeta (If you count that), Kena: Bridge of Spirits (Also if you count that), and the Jedi games pushing it quite a bit. Jedi games kinda don't count though because they're Sekiro lite.
I remember in DeS and DaS1 I was very apprehensive trying it because a missed parry is so much damage taken and learning the timings is harder on top of that so I didn't do it at all, and only after multiple playthroughs was I comfortable parrying random enemies. In the other games I listed I was parrying as major part of combat all the time because it was so much more lenient and worth going for.
... gimmicks in boss fights
The only good boss fights in Soulshit are exactly the ones with weird gimmicks. Not the autistic rollspam "I studied the blade for 5000 hours so I can jump over your swings" bosses
pandering to pvpshitters and marketing hype kiddies is exactly why souls went down the fricking drain
>boss barely parries and defends himself >mostly just parrying the same combo over and over >little to no variance in rhythm because its always the same fast pace >relies on knowing the combo and not something for you to deflect first try by looking at animation
NGgays are actually moronic i swear
JUST DONT USE IT THEN fricking moron it's not like it's an online competitive game where it'd matter
In Elden Ring i can summon my mimic and destroy everyone too, soul flare is the same thing but it looks way cooler.
Nah, environmental stuff like that doesn't use up lamp charges. It would be pretty annoying at the start since you only have one. That said, using the lamp as a finisher is apparently better than just using it to get free hits.
>Every enemy >ONE charge at the start, can only refill in the dark world >Apparently it's better to use it as a finishing move so you can get better loot
This game is gonna be shit in my opinion.
But that being said, I clicked a random spot in the video and the moron was literally complaining about dodge distance being "too high" based on like one 4-second dodge clip without any knowledge of how it plays into the environment and enemy ranges. This dude is literally a negative IQ value moron.
So many devs wanted to make something fun like souls games, but didn't want to be accused of fully ripping them off or whatever. So they all tried too hard to make their games different, but departed from what makes those games fun. This game may or may not end up being like that, we'll see. So many devs would've been better off just straight-up copying fromsoftware. And I would've gladly played them all
They always make worse design choices, either to be different or because they don't want to committ to Souls unforgiving design philosophy

Ah so you are just a moron that just doesn't understand what he plays.
Otherwise you wouldn't compare swapping movesets and weapon skills and mixing parameters to glueing a boulder on a stick or a an very high recovery blocking where messing up a far more strict and demanding timing is balanced by taking chip tamage that can be regained with lifesteal to Sekiro deflect as long as you keep a correct block streak and perfect block critical attacks, and especially in a game where attacks contribute to stagger far more than counters.

Check out Nioh if you want to see an example of a well done souls-like that tries the least to rip off From.
Gameplay is only half of why I like the genre though, I play souls games to get immersed in a cool world. I know Nioh plays really well but the story and level design both suck from what I’ve seen.
They always make worse design choices, either to be different or because they don't want to committ to Souls unforgiving design philosophy

Sometimes we get games like Ashen or Salt & Sanctuary where the difference add to the game.
But the rest of the time we get underpolished weird ideas like Thymesia or Steel Rising. Or just making a failure to copy like Lords of the Fallen.
Platforming and the lantern mechanics where unironically fun.
With a bit more budget and a bit more polish/work ethic it could have been a true master piece.
I actually did like Ashen's platforming focus, the problem is there was rarely anything worth platforming to get, it was usually always just currency or consumables instead of new weapons/armor.
>Steelrising >Underpolished ideas.
What? How? The instant reload stamina is really useful, there's something you can equip that makes it so you have infinite stamina when dodging which completely changes all your combat entirely, and there's a posture system which lets you take control of all enemies including bosses if you know the good weapons that deal massive posture damage.
The only thing it did poorly was the element system because Alchemy is objectively the worst thing you can invest into in the entire game and enemies do not give you enough Alchemic Capsules to fund it in any way nor are elemental effects ever worth using.
>So many devs wanted to make something fun like souls games, but didn't want to be accused of fully ripping them off or whatever. >So many devs would've been better off just straight-up copying fromsoftware
well these guys fully admitted that they literally want their game to be Dark Souls 4, some people may not like that (Fromdrones) but I personally am not against the idea. I want to have more of the thing that I liked, also after Elden Ring's success Fromsoftware may as well be abandoning the "traditional" Souls formula for all we know, it wouldn't surprise me if their next soulsbornekiroring game is also another open-world game.
>they literally want their game to be Dark Souls 4, some people may not like that (Fromdrones)
So now NOT wanting an overmilked series to be milked even further makes you a drone? Do you shitwits ever listen to yourselves for even a second?
Fromdrones hate anything that isn't made by Fromsoftware, if Fromsoftware were to release Dark Souls 4 do you honestly believe they wouldn't buy it? no, what they hate is the idea of other game studios imitating their precious Souls formula, it's all just pure brand loyalty at this point.
Depends on what you find fun. Multiplayer wise From dropped off completely, with mp in Elden Ring basically being an afterthought in a world design that completely works against it. Meanwhile Nioh and Remnant left From in the dust hard when it comes to mp.
I do wonder how multiplayer will work in this game. Will both characters be in the same world as the host or will both of them be able to be in 2 different worlds at once? Summon for instance in Axion and Main one in Umbral or vice versa. Would be interesting if it's the latter because it could have some synergy in that while one player is in Umbral and deals with Umbral enemies the summon deals with Axion ones. Or maybe summon only exists in Umbral or Axion.
Am I the only one here that hates this "style" of combat? Why do they insist upon having your character swing like an 80 year old while enemies are anime villans? It's dumb and sucks the fun out of the combat and having enemies as sponges that kill you in two hits makes it even worse.
Action RPGs would be more successful if people stopped calling them souls like. What is with modern gamers and calling entire genres a ______ like/clone because of some popular game?
The problem is that bot even From knows what the frick the fans want because the fanbase is now split in several autistic echochambers that want different things
I was hyped for it but seeing gameplay turned me off almost completely.
It's not slow and methodical like the earlier souls games or even the first LotF, looks like DS3 rollshit with Sekiro parrying thrown in to make it even more brain dead. The animations are also some of the worst I have ever seen in a AAA title.
Yeah TOO smooth, you got to enjoy every animation for the next minute and a half
Armor was pretty good but not enough to carry a game
I agree that just COMPLETELY copying a competitor is boring but holy shit was LotF insufferable to play through, they found a good balance in The Surge
>insanely smooth gameplay animations
It was the clunkiest, floatiest looking piece of shit I've ever seen. I don't know how they managed to make every weapon swing feel simultaneously way too heavy and clunky and also completely weightless at the same time but they did
It's a mediocre game at the very worst but it has the novelty of fulfilling my 'walking-tank' fantasy in a way Dark Souls in havels armor can't pull off. It's also a pretty well paced experience too, short length and a high frequency of bosses and fights.
If you play video games you've played far worse.
I can respect that, not nearly enough games give that "I'm fricking invincible" feel of a slow, deadly, unstoppable menace. Love me some edgekino, the closest Souls comes to it is Raime's set.
I never finished the first one. not a fan.
The new one, being made by a different studio, looks WAY better though.
Gonna pirate and buy if it’s actually good
>Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.
Damn. I remember that game. It was too hard for me so I used console cheats and enjoyed the frick out of the story and throwing fire balls. One of the most memorable games.
the recent trend of releasing the same thing with the same name over and over again to both capitalize on pre-seeded SEO and memory hole the past is the scummiest shit imaginable
might as well be GaaS
It looks mediocre but if I'm being honest I'll probably buy it just because I'm a pathetic souls junkie who purchases every single soulslike that comes out because I don't really like any other genre
Cleric was confirmed to be a girl, and she is potentially the final boss of the game (if it isn't Adyr). Her getting corrupted is one of the causes of this whole mess.
Could be final boss of one of the endings. While this guy could be normal final boss as he is apparently our rival in the game and this game's Pursuer. Also he may or may not be based on Bateman who Keks
I hope Light Reaper will be a worthy rival. Small bits in one trailer from his fight looked really good and I'm curious how many times we will fight him and how he will evolve. I also wonder if that head of the church voiced by Morgott VA will be a boss.
We do know he will be Pursuer of this game. Confirmed by the devs and few people who got to play the demo and interviewed the devs. His first fight is basically the "impossible" fight you are meant to lose. Also it was confirmed that if you DO beat him you will get a special cinematic.
this looks like fanart of the Joker wearing the Berserk Armor and I mean that in the absolute worst way possible
this is some Batman Who Laughs invades the Berserk universe fanfic shit
I personally like it. He has this Bateman who keks feel combined with Witch King of Amgarrak. Also he looks good in the cinematic trailer and his fight looks pretty damn great too from little glimpses we saw.
>janky, floaty animations >over the top particle effects out the ass >balance is going to be utter shit knowing the devs
It'll be a 7/10 at the absolute best.
From what I've heard, you can go from an R1 into an R2 with every weapon, in addition to going from one handed to two handed mid combo. Every weapon can perfect block, but I do not know if the weapon type determines your deflect windows. One reviewer stated that the gameplay's pace feels like Mortal Shell or somewhere between Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3. I haven't played MS, so I don't know exactly what that means.
In terms of combat? Some of the original LotF weapons are slower, but yes, if you use the hammer or claymore the attacks in Mortal Shell are incredibly slow. The only thing I can think that's slower is The Surge 1's Heavy-duty weapons because they are so unfathomably slow. Mortal Shell can get extremely fast if you use the Axetana or the Hammer & Chisel (Also some of the best weapons outside of the roguelike mode).
I'm currently getting my ass kicked by those halberd guys in the beginning. This forest is confusing. I assume I'm supposed to follow the paths of those visions in order to get new weapons?
>I'm currently getting my ass kicked by those halberd guys in the beginning.
You gotta treat this game like its own entity. Charged attacks are king on the heavy weapons (Though light attacks are alright) while quick basic attacks are king on the lighter weapons. Dodging is only to reorient, dodge arrows, or get away from enemies quickly. You use Harden when it comes to enemies attacking you or you committing to an attack because you can use it whenever including in the middle of attacks. You make the decision of when best to use it.
The Shell you choose is up to your playing style, I always found Tiel to be the best personally, but if you want to tank Solomon would probably be better. Hadern is easily the best in the game but it's also like the Axetana and I forgot its unlock condition. >This forest is confusing.
Falgrim is intentionally confusing. The tunnels are what will confuse you the most so ignore them until you get a decent lay of the land. Realistically there's only four directions: >Main hub tower with the Grisha in the cave. >Frog path with the skin frog that leads you to the big trees and some archers above you that leads you to the low texture obsidian tower area. >Watery fog path with bottomless pits that leads you to the fire area. >Descending path with the bear traps everywhere that has archers and leads you to the ice area.
The tunnels are basically just shortcuts between the hub tower with only two of them having Shells, one with Tiel and one with the Obsidian Skin challenge run. That cave with the Grisha is the best way to orient yourself with the tunnels if you have to use them in my opinion, but feel free to try using them if you want. >I assume I'm supposed to follow the paths of those visions in order to get new weapons?
Each major area will grant you a new weapon at the start, I can't remember what the Axetana requirement was because it was patched in with The Virtuous Cycle.
I'm currently trying to find the big sword. Thank you for your advice. I might be doing something wrong, but I feel like the halberd guys smack me out of my hardened state.

If you're talking about those red guys I'm pretty sure Harden works on them just fine, but they do follow up attacks. You can try using the Seal parry if you want since it's very generous with the parry frames. If you haven't gotten the Seal yet, you need to talk to The Prisoner at the top of the hub tower.
If you want the claymore I believe it was in the ice area. That one's in the foggy area near Tiel's tunnel, you'll know you're going the right way if you see smaller enemies all over the place.
>From what I've heard, you can go from an R1 into an R2 with every weapon, in addition to going from one handed to two handed mid combo
uh that sounds dumb as frick, what if after an attack I want to simply swap to 2handed/1handed ??
>Wait a second to swap?
That's incredibly dumb
And the game has charged R2 attacks, how can I choose to use them after R1 if R2 attacks flow into light combo? The PVP is going to be a mess with those controls, and what is the advantage of these combos over normal attacks?
>you can go from an R1 into an R2 with every weapon
How the frick? R2 can be charged but if your inputs change depending on light attacks this webm would never be possible >in addition to going from one handed to two handed mid combo.
I don't get this, does that mean swapping hand becomes another attack?
>Virtosu revealed that the game was once named Lords of the Fallen: The Dark Crusade, though the studio dropped this name for not reflecting the game's status as a reboot of the series.
How do you reboot a ‘series’ that consists of a single game
People will say "oh, you're just used to soulsjank" but souls has fricking great animations that effortlessly convey weight and speed. Lotf just looks off.
Surge 1/2 had a ton of weird animations too, I really hoped they would have learned by now.
I like how they are dropping the pretense of originally, ditching the WoW-shit aesthetics, and just copying From's animation and enemy design outright (as any good soulslike should). Pretty based NGL.
>copying From's animation and enemy design outright
They look absolutely nothing like From enemies, are you joking? They look like generic overdesigned edgy western crap
Looks more like Blasphemous honestly than Fromsoft. That cinematic with the giant pope pretty well showed that these people really like that game. Also apparently they try to also go for aesthetic of heavy metal albums as well.

I don't understand the issue with this. It's just like Bloodborne's transformation attacks. You tap the two handed button in the middle of a combo and do an attack that switches to one handed or two handed, depending on what you were before.
Catalysts are their own slot. You hold a button to enter a "spell casting stance" and then use whatever spell is mapped to certain buttons. It's like Dragon's Dogma or Code Vein.
>LotF's first boss vs LotF's first boss (why the frick aren't the names different)
this one had potential to be a cool little first boss, the problem is that he's too fricking slow and stays too far away from the player, but still I appreciate what they tried to do here with the idea of the boss ditching his armor and greatshield in phase 2, it's just that German devs suck at boss design.
I'm pretty hyped because it seems to have proper invasions unlike Wo Long which had fake invasions players could opt out of, combat also doesn't seem like spastic over the top shit. This is the first Soulslike I've seen that doesn't look like absolute shit.
>Soulslike >Copy game without understanding what makes it good >Improve the graphics >but make it easier >gimmicks that only slow the gameplay
It's a western game alright.
nta but can you explain WHY the exploration and world design is good?
I'm omitting progression since it's a fricking action rpg. Of course it has a sense of progression. Even the shittiest rpg games provide a sense of progression just by the nature of being an rpg.
Because the levels are well constructed gauntlets with good art design and atmosphere and the world being a big interconnected physically sound ant's nest makes it feel more "real" and make logical physical sense in your head, at least in Dark Souls 1
It sold well for the wrong reasons. I'm happy they're doing a different genre next to shake things up. I'd rather see something new than Elden Ring 2. The most based thing From could do is put away Souls/ER for a decade and circle back to it later after experimenting with something else.
>The most based thing From could do is put away Souls/ER for a decade and circle back to it later after experimenting with something else.
homie you're crazy if you think that they'd give up on those souls bucks just like that, at best you're going to get 1 obligatory soulslop game and 1 side project.
Dark Souls 2 and 3 are the worst Souls games and they're still better than every single copycat. LotF was shit, The Surge was shit, Mortal Shell was shit, Code Vein was shit, Salt & Sanctuary came the closest to actually being good but still fell short and had a horrifically ugly artstyle

It's a newbie all right.
Why does every Dark Souls clone have to be edgy grimdark fantasy? The way these wannabe souls games just mindlessly follow conventions set by demons souls and add almost nothing new to the table just makes me never want to try them
Why can't these dumbasses who copy souls games ever get the gameplay right? It always looks off. is fromsoftware hiding some secret technology or are other devs just moronic?
to me it always looks like theyre using stock unreal lighting or some shit, it just looks weird and wrong. Maybe its also the feedback and impact you get when you hit an enemy, I think souls games always nail that
What the frick does this even mean lmao. "Stock lighting" is no lighting in the editor moron.
Why can't these dumbasses who copy souls games ever get the gameplay right? It always looks off. is fromsoftware hiding some secret technology or are other devs just moronic?
Because when you've been developing the same fricking game for 20 years, you have all of that development time to keep iterating your animations and reusing them for each title.
Exactly why TOTK had so much content - They've been developing it on the switch for basically 10 years.
Fromsoft's animations are always very simple, a bit slow, and short range. You never move very far or fast when attacking or dodging, and your attacks are mostly simple and realistic. I think it just doesn't feel truly slow or boring because they're good at dialing in numbers for attack range, speed, hitbox/hurtbox size and frames, etc. I think they spend more time on the boring unglamorous work. Remember how bloodborne sidestep felt lightning fast coming off of dark souls, but is still slower than your average mainstream action game movement
Except it's solid pieces of cloth and not made from ripped rags because unlike western hack frauds, from artists actually design from real life examples.
>crank up the particle effects to 120
YEA BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY THAT LOOKS SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDD I'M COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMING
The level design is the thing most consistently praised by the people who played the demon. Even a guy who claimed to play it said it was good in a thread talking about how he disliked how blocks and parries are just deflects in this game.
Jesus that looks awful. Janky animation and total lack of feedback when hitting or getting hit by things. Looks like one of those chinses asset flip games with great visuals that fall apart in-motion.
Because it makes you wonder about it so it already got your attention. Also some morons will surely go "well at least it's not as bad as the original".
This game has the same issues as all other souls like : hit feedback is fricking garbage and the roll anim sucks dick. Fromsoftware animators are seriously overlooked.

I still find it funny how "level up lady" is one of the "core features" that a lot of Souls-likes copy in some way.
The rolling also look better since it's a step dodge. One thing I really dislike about Elden Ring combat is how it requires you to chain together rolls to dodge attacks. It always looks really stupid. The rolls are also extremely weightless to keep up with the pace of combat. Pre-BB rolling felt good because it had actual hef to it and the enemies weren't spazzing out in your face. They could have fixed this by implementing stylish BB style dodges, but the rolling had become a meme by this point.
skill issue, there's blatant post wind up attack telegraphs in Souls

No it doesn't, It looks dumb as frick as you literally go through chest high swords that a roll animqtion would make you duck under >One thing I really dislike about Elden Ring combat is how it requires you to chain together rolls to dodge attacks.
You are hardly ever requested more than 2 dodges for special boss attacks >Muh BB dodges
The only reason Bloodborne implemented dashing is the fact that most enemies don't even have a weapon. In Lords of the Fallen it looks like shit because most enemies are dudes with swords
>6 gorillion particle effects on screen all the time >that liquid injected plastic looking Unreal engine 5-esque models >floaty underwater hair physics >every piece of metal is wet and shiny all the time >Sopping wet pool noodle combat against AOE spam angel guy
Cool, all the reasons why I didn't like the DeS Remake and other modern action games
Might try it if it goes on sale. That or just pirate it.
now that from has gone full open world slop, souls clones are free to try and fill the niche of the more metroidvania level design and tight enemy encounters of ds1, the dual world gimmick can be interesting, it's the only thing it has going for it
I sincerely doubt this will be anywhere close to fully capture the feeling of from ds1 due to being made by westoid hacks but it's also obvious that as far as blatant ripoffs go this is easily the closest they've gotten to replicating various aspects from the from formula, this is the first one I'm willing to try. you can tell they tried to go for the same depth of build variety which is a big task because from has been building and refining its asset library since DeS, they're doing pvp which is a big task to add, they actually seem to have hired decent talent for art direction, it's extremely derivative but there is some decent taste on display compared to usual western dark fantasy standards, animation and combat feel still seem very poor
mortal shell had some decent art direction early on but frick all build variety and was super short, with typical westoid floaty animations
I wonder if invasions will also have some fun interactions. Like maybe you invade and go to Umbral and you can drag another player into Umbral when they look into the lamp. Would be a fun way to give someone a heart attack and quickly get rid of their one life. Apparently enemies from Umbral can drag you into it from Axium so it would be cool if it applied to invaders.
I just hope it isn't some bullshit like 'you can only invade players in axium and when you defeat them they're sent to umbral and you win', meaning they don't really die at all, they just have to find a way to get back to axium.
It's not like a fighting game, because a fighting game has a much more focused pool of people who have consented to playing online and can be expected to be properly equipped for it, there should also ideally be enough of them to do regional matchmaking based on connection quality. Online play in Soulslikes involves far far worse connections than you will ever see in a fighting game because you are connecting to random Mexicans who are playing on a toaster and weren't even trying to do online pvp in the first place but you've invaded their world due to it being the only world available in the correct level and upgrade range which happened to be on the correct part of the map in the correct covenant with a free invasion slot. You now have to engage in PvP while they communicate with you via carrier pigeon and if they have a bad experience that will not put them off continuing to play, because it's a single player game and they didn't want to PvP in the first place.
The situation is infinitely worse than you would ever expect in a fighting game, where people with bad connections simply stop trying to play online.

I think people overblown this. The connection is fine most of the time, it's not like souls have super competitive pvp anyway, it's mostly fricking around.
What's bad about souls multiplayer is that it gets worse with each iteration in terms of how it actually works in game, with covenants and invasions getting gutted harder and harder. Nowadays in ER I wonder why did they even bother leaving invasions in.
>UE5
Literally my only complain. This shit will have the worst optimization possible and with the devs already using dlss stuff as a crutch, it will be impossible to play with decent fps
devs should really release a demo
I remember playstation gave this game out for free or something but I never touched it because the game cover is literally a close up photo of some knock-off Kratos looking fricker looking all pissed and it annoyed me.
This is probably the closest "Sekiro clone" we have right now.
>sekiro positioning doesnt matter
yes and no
if you do the moronic r1 l1 r1 l1 then yeah nothing matters
But the prosthetics and combat arts are op as frick. They encourage sidesteps, dodges, precise positioning, jumping over (or even ducking under) certain attacks, etc. Which also makes it a lot easier and more fun
the problem is that the game does jack shit to encourage the later playstyle. So most people just l1r1 with maybe firecrackers and shuriken for free hits
I agree with this. Actually taking advantage of the environment and combat arts is really fun and cool looking, but the game never really encourages you to go beyond "deflect and attack".
It encourages in the sense that it makes the game way easier but thats about it
theres a bunch of issues in the game that just makes people learn " i should r1 l1 as my primary method to deal almost all the damage ", even moreso in the limited start where you have no tools. By the time you have plenty of tools and skills, youre probably fighting genichiro with full on r1l1 mode
if you do the moronic r1 l1 r1 l1 then yeah nothing matters

no Black person, I'm looking forward to it because I like the genre, it's better for me if it turns out to be good, I'm not going going to shit on it for no reason just like a fromdrone would.
Those guys made the first Lords of the Fallen. This is a completely different studio.
I guess I'll give it a shot if they release a demo, then. Character design looks like western trash but it's a bit better than the first one. If they don't release a demo I'm just not gonna bother. First one was a bad enough experience to make me sour.
the first of lords of the fallen were utter trash >shit story >balancing >gameplay >dialogue
literally nothing was good
why would i trust this company to produce a good sequel lol
It's a different studio developing it and the original LotF is supposedly only canon in lore. It's basically a reboot.
They could have dropped the title altogether and nobody would give a shit. I have no idea why they thought they should keep this game in any way related to the dumpster fire that was the original game. It will only serve to turn people away.
I believe it is a genuinelly good game and one of the best Soulsclones, but no one else (who actually play videogames) thinks the same and the only """""""""""""""""people"""""""""""""""" who likes the game besides me are the ones who unironically like anime shovelware like Senran Kagura or Blue Reflection, games I legit despise.
I have a 10 page shopping list of faults with CV but the fact that I played it long enough to build up that list means it still got enough right to be fun. It certainly did better than LotF
I think it's one of the worst Soulslikes, barely above LotF and Dolmen. It's just got too many issues surrounding it, enemies are so tanky, bosses are even tankier, even if you Final Journey bosses they feel like they take forever to kill, and it only gets worse in the side content like the towers.
I also like SK so I don't think your thought holds up.
>Enemies are so tanky
I never really felt this. Even bosses in the Towers can die in less than two minutes if you know what you're doing. Rather, I feel like everything just hits absurdly hard. This is partially mitigated by the Revive skill if you're using a companion or skills like Feral Tenacity, but it's still surprising just how much damage even basic enemies can do.
I think CV's build variety shines a lot. The devs usually place a lot of emphasis on player customization to get the really big damage going, like God Eater and custom bullets.
The issue is you need super specific builds to make stuff work well and you need to know the good skills on top of that. I was so tired of the game and absolutely hated it that I started looking up builds to get it over with. Even with a FJ Zweihander with the optimal setup and after the nerfs I was dealing almost nothing to bosses and dying after like 30 seconds because of FJ. I had no idea how to even tackle the tower at the time because I'd get to a boss and take forever to kill it while dealing virtually no damage, or FJ and just barely make it to the next floor before dying.
The nerf to Final Journey really made it a lot more difficult to use, but this could be mitigated with Gift Extension stuff. The game rewards trying stuff ought (partially because of untested jankiness, like Merciless Reaper being one of the absolute best buffs for mages).
I understand if you didn't enjoy it, though. I always tell people to try out the demo before buying it.

By a country mile. >If you're not on NG (0 on the top-left counter) or lower then the bosses are outright impossible to beat.
You can only beat the first boss by abusing radiation DoT if you're on NG+ or higher. You also get legitimately one-shot from every attack he has. Fear can't be beaten on the higher difficulties, it's like a 20+ minute fight above 0 where at any point it can instantly just teleport to you and bite you twice to an instant death. Even at 0 or lower you need to abuse the purple staff's tier 3 skill that spreads flames over the ground just to deal damage because it has like six times as much health as the true final boss. >Some of the NPCs don't spawn at all. >They don't give you any Rift Inducers until right before the final DLC boss (Which you have to farm) so unless you walked into the DLC with several of them you have to walk all the way back to the start of each area once you clear them, and some of these areas are not made in a way to do that easily. >DLC enemies even at NG are tanks, so on NG+ they have thousands of HP. >The new soldier enemies in the second area have flamethrowers that damage you on every single frame and can deal a chunk of your health just one one frame.
Even on a PS4 at 30 FPS you die the instant someone uses one, and it's completely random if they will when you get near them. Even if you spam them from afar it's a 50/50 shot they get close enough via super armor to reach you. >New armor sets require you to grind something like 80 or 100 drops just to craft a single set (You can't get the set as drops), and there's three or four new ones that have to be done like this. >New weapons barring Fear's are all worse than the lightsaber. >There's a boss in the baths that requires you to hit multiple illusory walls just to reach, go through a bunch of underground areas and enemies, and is a TEN MINUTE RUN BACK IF YOU DIE TO ITS INSTANT KILL ATTACKS.

Then there's Fear, one of the worst Soulslike bosses in any non-Fromsoft game.
?t=73
Please note that in this video this guy has equipment that is 5x higher than you will ever reasonably have. A single level up for a weapon from like 30 to 31 is something like 300k tech scrap when the most you get from the best farming method is like 50k. I was on NG+3 when I did the DLC and don't even have anything close to level 60.
This is what kind of damage you will normally be dealing, and keep in mind this guy is on NG -1 via items.
>Like I said before, if you are above NG you are basically taking 60-80% of your health a hit. >Has four different forms. >Crawling human form attacks so fast that it can bite or slap twice before you even recover from dodging. >Its slaps reach across 80% of the arena. >It will straight up just leap to your direction if you're farther than its slaps. >If you are up close it immediately bites twice, but being up close is the only way to actually hit it reliably because it dodges magic and grenades easily. >Once you drop its HP to about 1/4th lost it goes into its blob form where it stays in the center of the map and becomes a bullet hell where it shoots shots out randomly and can hit you faster than you can land and jump again or dodge. >Multiple times throughout the phase it will shoot shots into the air that home into you while the ground shots are still being shot out at random.
Keep in mind the shots in general do 40% of your health per hit. >Third phase is about half health he will go into spider form. >Jumps on the wall and you can't hit him at all. >Shoots crap at you and leaps at you which can instant kill you. >Fourth phase is about 1/3rd of his health left where he will fly around in the sky shooting homing attacks at you while dropping bombs from the sky. >After going into phase 4 he will now alternate between the forms at random.
I'll put it like this: Of all the notable Soulsclones CV is the only one that never got a sequel. This very thread is about the second Lords of the fallen game.
The game's been restarted and does not even remotely involve the developers of the first game. Talking about continuity of a franchise in this case is rather meaningless. Not to mention the money Lords needed to recoup was vastly lower, last I recall it was considered profitable at just 500k copies and had clocked about 3 million by 2021. Code Vein also reportedly hit that number, but likely had a higher budget or is simply victim of the fact that it released the same years as Jump Force dragged the company down.
>Talking about continuity of a franchise in this case is rather meaningless.
I'm not taking about continuity but about LOTF 2023 being the second Lords game, just like DmC is the fifth DMC game evrn when it isn't DMC5.
>Code Vein also reportedly hit that number
Due to being almost eternally on sale 85% off. Which is pretty telling about CV given how stingy Bamco is.
The nip version of Bad Rats.

Deer can be scary, demonic beings.
Wow thanks I didn't expect such a prompt response. That seems to have restored an early game file, cool.
There is a new video with first 13 minutes. It's IGN though so the guy who plays does it in... lackluster way. Also there is some weird silence, but I feel like this is because of this being an early build where not everything is implemented yet as they said they work on sound effects for instance and it should be different in final product.
>Blocking attacks without 100% damage reduction does Wither damage to your HP
Ah, neat. I assume this doesn't apply to perfect blocks. Lightreaper's enthusiasm sounds a bit goofy.
I wish from would go back to Bloodborne dodge. Rolling just looks moronic. It was one thing in the early game where you did it one in a while. But now you roll 4 hit combos on the regular. My dude should be puking in his helmet.
I like the nioh dodge. I like deflecting. No more rolling please.
I usually don't like the aesthetics of non-From soulslikes but this one actually looks really good. Might buy it when it launches. Anyone who played the 2014 LotF, how was it?
Absolutely the worst Soulslike out there. Dolmen is the only thing that comes close. >Story is garbage. >Lore is garbage. >Characters are so poorly developed you don't care about anyone at all. >Choices don't lead to anything at all so why even have them? >You move like molasses. >Your enemies move like molasses. >If you're not wearing the heaviest armor and using a 2H weapon you are taking a ridiculous amount of damage and dealing chip damage. >Even then, the heaviest armor only negates so much damage because even basic dogs hit for chunks of your health. >There's like three total areas in the entire game, one where nothing poses a threat (Start + church), one where everything is way too high of a level for that point of the game (Catacombs), and one where nothing poses a threat mixed with really annoying ghosts (Mordor). >Bosses are not fun to fight at all but the boss in the catacombs is easily the worst fight in the game outside of the final boss. >If you picked anything but the red magic you have intentionally massively gimped yourself. >Red magic is so borderline OP due to the taunting totem that is a pure tank and you can endlessly spam it to make it so bosses barely focus on you unless you're on NG+2. >Ghost enemies can't be hit unless you have an elemental weapon, but elemental weapons are nearly always 100+ damage less than any of your good weapons and they don't knockback the ghosts most of the time. >So of course the DLC is nothing but higher health and defense ghosts that kill you in like three hits, and you get no good weapons to deal with them. >One of the achievements requires you to kill the final boss with a specific DLC weapon, but the DLC weapon cannot kill the final boss if you're past NG because he outheals the damage meaning you need to freeze his AI using a glitch or go into a completely new save file. >Like The Surge if you beat a boss without taking damage they have a unique drop, but good luck with this game's hitboxes.
Sci-fi Soulslike that lets you use guns in combat. It's not as rigid as Bloodborne but not as free as Remnant: From the Ashes. It's honestly the most low budget Soulslike of them all, has maps that are FFXIII tier, has bosses that literally jitter and bug out mid-attack, has no iframes when you get hit so anything that hits over more than one frame instantly kills you, and more. It was being spammed around this board when it came out for about a week which is why I knew about it. Would not recommend it to anyone even after the patch that came out recently.
Regardless, i think the game looks pretty good; aesthetics are nice, gameplay is a little jank but overall ok, the new ideas seem to be mesh well and the challenge is around what i expect.
My only doubt right now is content, im guessing it will be DeS sized which is fine but i wish it was a bit bigger.
Devs stated that it is "5x larger than the first game", and someone said that it takes around 30 hours of play time to reach the ending if you don't go out of your way to explore. My biggest concern is that they're frontloading content.
Yeah, most companies tend to frontload (even From is guilty of this, fricking limgrave+wp have 60% of all enemies in the game) their stuff.
I want the game to be decent sized but if its going to leave a bad last impression i would rather they lean towards the smaller side, learn from DeS and Sekiro, both smaller games but most areas have unique and distinct enemies (outside of minibosses in sekiro lmao). If you cant do long and satisfying, then do short and sweet, its way better than a game that drags.
I assume that the Umbral world will have the same enemy types spawn in regardless of the area you're in, but I can accept that. I remember one reviewer stating that he saw a ton of enemy variety, but he only got to play two hours or so.
Yeah, its just something that you have to wait to see, i wouldnt mind umbra having a set o enemies as long its more varied than ER catacombs with the imp spam, wish they had re-used more das3 enemies.
The enemies get tougher the longer you stay in Umbral, so I assume they will be more varied than just imps. One guy mentioned a "grim reaper" that leapt between shadows and bugged out his game when it did an attack while he was about to rest at a bonfire.

I watched that video actually, kinda funny they brought the smaller souls channels to shill for them, wonder why they didnt try the big fish like vaati or oro.
One thing i didnt see mentioned is set variety. I really love the starting classes armor sets but i hope we get more stuff as we go through the game, no one said anything about finding more sets in the demo. Hopefully again, its more than des which has 30 or so total and instead closer to 60 from das, i wouldnt even mind some recolors or "clean" versions as the ones shown are pretty cool so an alt would be a plus.

Oh thats good news, like i said i think they nailed the aesthetics, so worst comes to be and the game is shit at least it will be good screenshot thread fodder.
>wonder why they didnt try the big fish like vaati or oro
they probably did but Bandai Namco owns their asses plus they love that Fromsoft wiener
Probably because most big channels won't give the game a proper chance beyond contract shilling.
Yeah true, though i do think Iron Pineapple tends to be more accepting of other series, specially with his steam search videos, got a few small gems myself thanks to them.

Besides what the other people have said, they're probably also busy with shit like Armored Core.
The first had the most shitty ass floaty combat and this looks to also have mediocre combat unless I play pirated copy I won't know how bad it is, one thing that dark souls does well is the feel of weapons hitting enemies and environment
Quality of the souls-like game is determined by it's Protag's maiden. Lies of P has that Kpop blue hair doll. Pietta seems cute so it's a promising game, i hope we could bang that Queen witch in Demon lord ending.
I honestly didn't give two shits about any of the girls in Elden Cringe, maybe I liked Roderika a bit but she ended up lusting after Hewg's mibegotten dick
am I crazy or has this game already released multiple times, or do they all just have nearly identical names
same name
isnt this remake/remaster?
I think it's a reboot
Soft reboot/sequel. The first game is canon, but took place over a thousand years ago.
>first piece of trash, absolute garbage game is canon
The lore and stuff, anon.
You sever god's connection to the world in the first game.
Second game seems to be about him trying to return through corrupting humans instead of using his army of soulless husks.
I mix up this one with Lords of the Fallen and Soulstice
The first one was so bad that their naming scheme has to pretend it didn't exist
It has virtually the same name as one released several years ago.
Just a weird naming choice, you're remembering correctly.
mandela effect
This game's development was a mess.
There is a game from 2014 with the same exact name which was trash, but it sold well because it was one of the first Dark Souls clones.
They wanted to make a sequel, but it was in complete development hell for years, changed management, changed studios, then in the end they abandoned the idea of making a sequel at all and just went with a reboot and kept the name.
Oh this games gonna be shit isn’t it with that dev hell
what is with all the shilling of this remake of a shit game?
>am I crazy or has this game already released multiple times, or do they all just have nearly identical names
there is a Lords of the Fallen released back in 2014, OP's game is a remake/reboot

>>Game breaking mechanics that water down and variety and make the game stupisly basic
Like what?
Like Sekiro deflection and long rolls
The lantern gimmicks don't work in bossfights
Drip drip
You can post your hatred for deflects as much as you want
You will always be a virgin rolltard with room temperature IQ
>Roll bad because...because it just is! I saw others post about it so I will follow like a good little sheep without knowing why!!!
Sad
When you roll you have to consider where you're standing, where you're going to be during the I-frames, and where you're going to end up at the conclusion of the roll. Plus all of that is relative to how you've read the boss and where you think they will be during all of that and after.
With a deflect you just read the attack. That's it. That's the gameplay. It completely makes positional awareness irrelevant. Just read the ddr mechanic and press button to win. It's absolutely braindead.
Could Fromshit make rolls better? Could Fromshit come up with something better than arbitrary animation delays? Yeah they could and I wish they would.
But they'll never be as braindead as Sekiro's game of Bop-It
>That's it. That's the gameplay.
I will not give you a serious response until you drop the zillenial twitterBlack person speak.
Rolling looks moronic
Not true in Elden Ring, a large chunk of boss attacks are designed so that if you don't roll out of their range they will roll catch you, such as Margit's dagger slashes.
>why do rollgays always pretend this is true?
Because it is. You can't do otherwise in Elden Ring
I liked how the secret to Elden Ring rolling was to continuously roll TOWARD the bosses. The instinct to step backwards or strafe inevitably got you hit, but playing like a suicidal maniac was a viable defense.
Sekiro gameplay is braindead and all playtesters and journos explained how Lords of the Fallen block system is stupidly easy. Cope all you want
You cannot explain why deflect bad roll good
You know you're full of shit, which is why you don't even try to defend your position
What's with all these clones obbsessing over parry mechanics?
It’s all gays who got their shit pushed in by Sekiro and think Skyrim has good combat.
Sekiro was a fun satisfying game, but they cannot grasp what makes it so good
... gimmicks in boss fights
Here's a fun fact for you schizo:
Sekiro did not invent that gameplay loop. I'm not sure if Sekiro invented any gameplay mechanic at all, maybe the poise bar?
Classic SoulsBlack person mentality. have a nice day.
Heres a fun fact for you
You have a touch sensor up your ass that differentiates between farts and poop. thats how you know
that IS a fun fact. Thanks.
Huh, I didn't know. Thank you.
>He thinks ninja GAYden invented deflects
Get this fricking zoomer outta here
>boss barely parries and defends himself
>mostly just parrying the same combo over and over
>little to no variance in rhythm because its always the same fast pace
>relies on knowing the combo and not something for you to deflect first try by looking at animation
NGgays are actually moronic i swear
No it doesn't and
Btw all these videos are sponsored
It's shit
?t=410
>"nooo you can't add mechanics to combat, i like it stiff and dull just like muh dark souls!!!"
why are fromhomosexuals like that?
>Lmao just incapacitate and destroy every enemy with this free ability
Great mechanic
JUST DONT USE IT THEN fricking moron it's not like it's an online competitive game where it'd matter
In Elden Ring i can summon my mimic and destroy everyone too, soul flare is the same thing but it looks way cooler.
>JUST DONT USE IT
Most childish argument on the planet. If any challenge in a game is purely self-imposed, it is not a good game.
using soul flay to get some free hits on an enemy looks like it's a bad idea since you use the same "lamp charges" to unlock new paths
Nah, environmental stuff like that doesn't use up lamp charges. It would be pretty annoying at the start since you only have one. That said, using the lamp as a finisher is apparently better than just using it to get free hits.
>Every enemy
>ONE charge at the start, can only refill in the dark world
>Apparently it's better to use it as a finishing move so you can get better loot
Do you have any idea how fricking boring the original Lords of the fallen is?
What does that have to do with the new one?
Don't fricking mimic the mistakes of the original?
Yeah? Isn't that obvious?
Are we still doing this "hard game for hardcore gamers" bullshit where people want all the good weapons and skills gone?
Nobody wants those weapons and skills gone, just for people to acknowledge that using them means you didn't beat the game.
He's a french canadian souls pvpgay, it's pretty much given that he's moronic.
And I would've gladly played them all
I'll see after release if I buy this one or not
They always make worse design choices, either to be different or because they don't want to committ to Souls unforgiving design philosophy
LOTF is no differently sadly
The only Souls-like that I found to be really well designed and yet unique was the demo of Lies of P
I've beaten LoTF, The Surge 1+2, Nioh 1+2, Code Vein, Vampyr, and the Lies of P demo so I can confirm you're just a closeted homosexual that secretly wants a boywife.
LoP blends together with every other souls like out there.
Nah it had a great weapon customization system and an original guard system tied with lifesteal
>it has the ToTK weapon crafting and Sekiro deflect bro
Yeah thats great but the entire rest of the game is just Dark Souls but slightly worse.
>>it has the ToTK weapon crafting and Sekiro deflect bro
Ah so you didn't actually play it, ok
Whats your next cope femboy lover?
Ah so you are just a moron that just doesn't understand what he plays.
Otherwise you wouldn't compare swapping movesets and weapon skills and mixing parameters to glueing a boulder on a stick or a an very high recovery blocking where messing up a far more strict and demanding timing is balanced by taking chip tamage that can be regained with lifesteal to Sekiro deflect as long as you keep a correct block streak and perfect block critical attacks, and especially in a game where attacks contribute to stagger far more than counters.
>ah so you
>ah so you
ah so you are a fricking homosexual who insulted him first for having a different opinion about a game, and now you keep insulting him how about you fricking have a nice day anon? how about that? with your fricking
>ah so you
have a frickin dumb fallacy for every god damn thing everyone says to your stupid fricking asinine provocations. how about you just frickin go die. nobody likes talking to people like you, ever. about anything. it shows through how big of a fricking b***h you are on here
He's right, Lies of P blocks are nothing like deflects and you would know if you played the demo, stop coping
the other guy called him a homosexual first you ESL moron.
Tries to rip off bb too much, and is too clunky.
I guess if you care more about performance/convenience than soul/quality, you should play P over bb.
If you're lumping the niohs in with shit like code vein, vampyr, and the surge, you're an idiot moron.
Nioh 1 and 2 are objectively better games than even the actual souls games.
Frick you guys, Code Vein is great
Code Vein is fricking garbage that people literally only defend because of anime breasts
Its magic system is far better than Souls, and being able to get mana back through combat is great.
Io is better than any From girl, fight me.
>muh titty girl
Point proven
>A girl can't be a likable character if she's hot
>vapid anime trope girl #810445 is actually super likeable guys
>Reductionist argument because he can't support his point
>weebshit pretending he doesn't literally only like her because she has big fat milkers
>Uses a halberd
>Can give you said halberd, which is one of the best in its class
>Extremely useful in combat
>Has her own personality and interests that are endearing
>Levels up your Vestiges
She has a lot going for her. I say she's the best girl in a Souls-like while also thinking most Souls girls are great.
It's janky as frick, I won't deny that. I still think it's a legitimately good game despite its flaws.
I prefer Mia
STAND STRONG KING
EVEN IF IT'S JUST (YOU) AND ME WE WILL FIGHT TO THE DEATH.
I still have faith.
>the sole good thing about the game is the anime waifu that died at the end
No wonder it never got a sequel.
The code devs had to learn about hitstop through player feedback back when code was in beta.
Meanwhile nioh devs have made action games that rival dmc.
I'm not saying your game doesn't have soul, anon.
But come on, son.
if you're a coomer weeb maybe.
Code Vein is living proof that you need more than just good mechanics.
Code Vein magic system is a huge step up that all other souls like should copy.
Eva is hot and her plot with Jack was cute.
Music was good.
That's about all that is good about the game.
>The only Souls-like that I found to be really well designed and yet unique was the demo of Lies of P
Check out Nioh if you want to see an example of a well done souls-like that tries the least to rip off From.
Gameplay is only half of why I like the genre though, I play souls games to get immersed in a cool world. I know Nioh plays really well but the story and level design both suck from what I’ve seen.
The 2nd one is pretty damn accurate to jap history, minus all of the magic bullshit going on so it has that for story.
Sometimes we get games like Ashen or Salt & Sanctuary where the difference add to the game.
But the rest of the time we get underpolished weird ideas like Thymesia or Steel Rising. Or just making a failure to copy like Lords of the Fallen.
Ashen was fricking mediocre dogshit. The hell are you talking about.
>Steelrising
>Underpolished ideas.
What?
Also works that from what is said from the interviews that these developers seem to want to make the game they want to play as well.
>they literally want their game to be Dark Souls 4, some people may not like that (Fromdrones)
So now NOT wanting an overmilked series to be milked even further makes you a drone? Do you shitwits ever listen to yourselves for even a second?
Fromdrones hate anything that isn't made by Fromsoftware, if Fromsoftware were to release Dark Souls 4 do you honestly believe they wouldn't buy it? no, what they hate is the idea of other game studios imitating their precious Souls formula, it's all just pure brand loyalty at this point.
>what they hate is the idea of other game studios imitating their precious Souls formula
Because they're all far, far worse at it than Fromsoft is
Depends on what you find fun.
The animations are also some of the worst I have ever seen in a AAA title.
t.
beat and enjoyed the first one.
>enjoyed the first one
What kind of transient, alien being are you
the first one had insanely smooth gameplay animations and kino armor aestethics
new lotf is literally just darksouls
Yeah TOO smooth, you got to enjoy every animation for the next minute and a half
Armor was pretty good but not enough to carry a game
I agree that just COMPLETELY copying a competitor is boring but holy shit was LotF insufferable to play through, they found a good balance in The Surge
>the first one had insanely smooth gameplay animations
That played like shit.
>insanely smooth gameplay animations
It was the clunkiest, floatiest looking piece of shit I've ever seen. I don't know how they managed to make every weapon swing feel simultaneously way too heavy and clunky and also completely weightless at the same time but they did
>the first one had insanely smooth gameplay animations and kino armor aestethics
(You)
>kino armor aestethics
It was peak west WoW slop.
Love me some edgekino, the closest Souls comes to it is Raime's set.
lmao ds1 is ten times easier than ds3 or sekiro what the frick are you on about
he's not talking about difficulty, brain rot zoomer. lurk moar.
I too enjoyed the first game but I know it's objectively a 4/10 game at egregious generocity. Your opinion is discarded.
>looks like DS3 rollshit with Sekiro parrying
i will now play your slop
I thought the new one is called THE lords of the fallen?
I never finished the first one. not a fan.
The new one, being made by a different studio, looks WAY better though.
Gonna pirate and buy if it’s actually good
>paid review
>paid reviewer says combat is not nearly as good as DS
Must be pretty shit, huh
that’s because souls of the pinnacle of vidya. nobody would believe him if he said the combat is on the same level as souls

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.
That game came out before most soulskiddies were born, you didn't expect him to accept that answer?
>Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.
Damn. I remember that game. It was too hard for me so I used console cheats and enjoyed the frick out of the story and throwing fire balls. One of the most memorable games.
Even with all its jank, Code Vein did it much better.
>"The original didn't have bad art design"
it absolutely did
it was fricking awful bloated edgy pauldron dark fantasy that looked like Gears of Souls
the recent trend of releasing the same thing with the same name over and over again to both capitalize on pre-seeded SEO and memory hole the past is the scummiest shit imaginable
might as well be GaaS
It looks mediocre but if I'm being honest I'll probably buy it just because I'm a pathetic souls junkie who purchases every single soulslike that comes out because I don't really like any other genre
I've heard everyone praise the exploration and level design, so I'm pretty excited for it.
LOOKING better and PLAYING better are not the same thing you dumb fricking zoomer
It does both better doe
Pieta (the angel girl) becomes an ally after you kick her ass
>unironically linking fextra
Nani the frick
>drops: pursuer
>Boromir
That fricking eagle?
>Drops: Pursuer
Ok, that's pretty funny
What's their logic for doubling down on a shitty game idea? What led them to believe it won't just be another mediocre flop?
They wanted to improve it while still keeping the same setting, apparently.
Reminds me of ALTTP. Seems like this Souls clone is actually going to be decent.
This alone makes me wanna play the game, as it reminds of the GREAT old Soul Reaver
I don't think he'd be the final boss, but probably is the boss of a climatic part of the game. I hope we can save the Cleric if we can save Pieta.
I hope Light Reaper will be a worthy rival. Small bits in one trailer from his fight looked really good and I'm curious how many times we will fight him and how he will evolve. I also wonder if that head of the church voiced by Morgott VA will be a boss.
Spiky pope seems more like a lore guy. Can't see how he would fight.
nah this dude was in part of the demo they didn't show, he is quite early on
t. playtester
Isn't Angmar?
Ah yeah. Must have had that DLC from Origins in my head.
design straight out of a an american comic book
The Sauron Who Laughs
Presenting, after Samurai Batman! ....THE JOHNNY DARK SOULS THAT LAUGHS.
Why would this need to be confirmed a girl?
Some anons from older threads thought it was a Griffith situation, even though she's clearly an expy of Jeanne d'Arc.
played it back in 2014, it was mediocre. Like Dark Souls 2 levels of bad
The devs really should have made the name more distinct from its predecessor...
Devs have no control over the name. That decision came directly from their parent company CIGames.
>janky, floaty animations
>over the top particle effects out the ass
>balance is going to be utter shit knowing the devs
It'll be a 7/10 at the absolute best.
>7/10
soul
From what I've heard, you can go from an R1 into an R2 with every weapon, in addition to going from one handed to two handed mid combo. Every weapon can perfect block, but I do not know if the weapon type determines your deflect windows. One reviewer stated that the gameplay's pace feels like Mortal Shell or somewhere between Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3. I haven't played MS, so I don't know exactly what that means.
Mortal Shell is probably one of the slowest paced soulslike, right? Not that I've played them all
Apparently it's on PS+, so I'll try it out after playing some more Bloodborne.
Realistically there's only four directions:
>Main hub tower with the Grisha in the cave.
I think anon means a proper boss fight. Isn't the fight against him in the tutorial an impossible fight?
>Wait a second to swap?
That's incredibly dumb
And the game has charged R2 attacks, how can I choose to use them after R1 if R2 attacks flow into light combo? The PVP is going to be a mess with those controls, and what is the advantage of these combos over normal attacks?
Not impossible!
>you can go from an R1 into an R2 with every weapon
How the frick? R2 can be charged but if your inputs change depending on light attacks this webm would never be possible
>in addition to going from one handed to two handed mid combo.
I don't get this, does that mean swapping hand becomes another attack?
It looks like Mortal Shell
>Cutting edge unreal tech demo looks like cutting edge unreal tech demo
Please release a demo so we can talk about the gameplay more, devs...
let me guess
you "need" more
>Game (2014)
>Game (2023)
>Virtosu revealed that the game was once named Lords of the Fallen: The Dark Crusade, though the studio dropped this name for not reflecting the game's status as a reboot of the series.
How do you reboot a ‘series’ that consists of a single game
not with those animations
Holy kino, this looks way better than any fromshart game
you shills need to work on your phrases
can detect you from a mile away
>using this long ass animations when you could just throw him off whit your greatsword
It's funnier
Cool sword, bro.
The soulrip feature should just double the enemy, but give the soul enemy weakpoint damage and shared health.
as a longtime soulsgay i feel like i'm being pandered to, like i'm being the center of attention for this publisher... and i don't like it
People will say "oh, you're just used to soulsjank" but souls has fricking great animations that effortlessly convey weight and speed. Lotf just looks off.
Surge 1/2 had a ton of weird animations too, I really hoped they would have learned by now.
>Surge 1/2 had a ton of weird animations too, I really hoped they would have learned by now.
not the same devs.
>souls has fricking great animations that effortlessly convey weight and speed
i simply cannot with you cultists
Feel free to compare them to their competition right here:
There isn't one good Souls clone. Every single one of them is bad and doesn't come anywhere close to even the worst actual Souls games
They look like generic overdesigned edgy western crap
>ditching the WoW-shit aesthetics
Well, mostly ditching.
Looks more like Blasphemous honestly than Fromsoft. That cinematic with the giant pope pretty well showed that these people really like that game. Also apparently they try to also go for aesthetic of heavy metal albums as well.
Blasphemous, Berserk, lovecraft and Beksinski are influences.
Nearly everyone at the studio of 70 people are souls fans.
They also are inspired by Claymore.
what does my favorite weapon have to do with this?
Meant the manga
I think the anon is joking, anon.
>Two Spanish companies
>Both make games that are extremely Catholic
What did they mean by this?
there's a manga about the best weapon ever?
I prefer zweihanders, but claymores are cool.
For me, it's the the humble yet elegant Gladius.
Good taste. The gladius is underated
Speaking of which, what do you guys think of the split world stuff so far? I like the two life system more than Sekiro's usage of it.
Split world
Two lives
Platforming
Environment puzzles
Combat involvement
Exploration/shortcut pathing
Pretty good if you ask me. It's not just a gimmick for the sake of it. It's embedded within the actual core gameplay.
>split world stuff
Seems interesting. I hope they integrate it into combat more like the example in the video.
A few enemies have Umbral Parasites on them that give them buffs. You can still kill most of them, but getting rid of the parasite makes the fight a lot easier.
Drip Drip Drip Drip.
No, there is a manga about a group of female half-monster monster hunters who use the best weapon ever.
>main girl is a short haired tomboy
i think i might just read this
They should do a collab with Blasphemous, like Team Ninja does with other games
that looks nothing like from's aesthetic, get a new pair of eyes
Cope, they are aping hard. This single dude looks more Fromcore than anything in the entirety of TLOF.
That still looks like WoW bro
Just look at those boots
That's the old game
how is everyone failing to get he was talking about the previous games
the WoW-shit aesthetics were purely a Deck13 thing, just take one look at their latest game and you'll realize
Am I going crazy or wasn't the new one called THE Lords of the Fallen?
I like the designs
I like how the designs are more "grounded" now, the first LotF had armors that I would've designed when I was 10 years old.
>"grounded"
That's an edgelord demon
Correct, and it's the furthest thing imaginable from grounded
I'm talking about armor sets that can be worn by the player, anon, bosses get a free pass to look as moronic and overdesigned as they can.
>that looks better
Yeah because as we all know graphics is what makes a game fun! You idiot.
I don't understand the whole weapon hand swap combo, seems like pointless bloat that makes using catalysts/shield vs 2 handing clunky
Sure is Soul Reaver in here.
I fricking wish
>Soulslike
>Copy game without understanding what makes it good
>Improve the graphics
>but make it easier
>gimmicks that only slow the gameplay
It's a western game alright.
What makes Souls good?
Exploration, world design, and sense of progression
Amusingly, all three of these were praised by the play testers. It's mostly the combat that they've had complaints with.
nta but can you explain WHY the exploration and world design is good?
I'm omitting progression since it's a fricking action rpg. Of course it has a sense of progression. Even the shittiest rpg games provide a sense of progression just by the nature of being an rpg.
Because the levels are well constructed gauntlets with good art design and atmosphere and the world being a big interconnected physically sound ant's nest makes it feel more "real" and make logical physical sense in your head, at least in Dark Souls 1
>Copy game without understanding what makes it good
Fromsoft doesn't understand what makes souls shit good either.
Exactly why they were surprised that Elden Ring sold so well.
We are already getting Armored Core 6
They've made literally the only good ones, so yes they clearly do. Every single copycat has been a different flavor of utter trash
>They've made literally the only good ones
dark souls 2, dark souls 3, arguably elden ring. hell, you could even say half of dark souls 1 was shit.
>Meaningless complaints filled with buzzwords from someone who has no idea what he's talking about

>These are buzzwords

I know your political orientation just because of that kek.
Yes, in this context they are meaningless buzzwords since you are not using them as valid complaints hence why your whole rant comes off as nonsensical.
>immediately brings out politics
It's a newbie all right.
Why are people incapable of making an OP that isn't bait?
Where is the armor
I wish I saved all of the starting classes that were shown, anon.
that one is edgy cringe, but I remember seeing one that looked like solid 11th-12th century Crusader armor
This one?
Still has some edginess on it, but I personally don't mind
Holy hivemind. Also shootout to our boy Infantry, the average joe MC class.
Partisan also looks like an average joe.
He has a flail so already he has a headstart in cool factor.
LOL nice job outing yourself marketers
Sure
I'm not a marketer. I'm just one of the few people genuinely interested in the game.
>Flails
>Cool
This one? Also I like Dark Crusader armor. It's amazing how unapologetic it is with it's edge.
That is the sickest most badass armor I have ever fricking seen and I would wear that in every RPG ever forever
Yeah, wearing tattered rags will totally make you look cool and not like a poor retatd.
It looks cool, though. I can't think of any other vidya armor that looks as cool as it.
Why does every Dark Souls clone have to be edgy grimdark fantasy? The way these wannabe souls games just mindlessly follow conventions set by demons souls and add almost nothing new to the table just makes me never want to try them
Catholic
this character is literally the same voice as Morgott, so shameless
They're way edgier than Demon's Souls
Why can't these dumbasses who copy souls games ever get the gameplay right? It always looks off. is fromsoftware hiding some secret technology or are other devs just moronic?
to me it always looks like theyre using stock unreal lighting or some shit, it just looks weird and wrong. Maybe its also the feedback and impact you get when you hit an enemy, I think souls games always nail that
>stock unreal lighting
What the frick does this even mean lmao. "Stock lighting" is no lighting in the editor moron.
Remember how bloodborne sidestep felt lightning fast coming off of dark souls, but is still slower than your average mainstream action game movement
i don't know what makes the japanese the only ones that understand the basic principles of animation and sound/SFX design for combat
every western dev always fricks up things like hitstop, or have animation that don't blend properly
>fextralife
how about frick off
Anyone else have webms of the gameplay shown? I suck at making them.
found some higher res pictures of the starting classes, I'm guessing this one is the "Hunter" class of LotF
Just a note. You can find all those pics on IGN site where they present the classes of this game.
that cape looks VERY familiar
Pharis in his prime
this one is the Deprived
frick I forgot to post it
I'm posting them here so others don't have to go to the IGN website
post the wolfpelt one
this must be the "Bandit" class
It's more Berserker, from what I've heard. High investment in offense, low in defense
I personally like how even a hat of Cleric has Crown of Thorns. Gotta love that.
this is either Wanderer or Thief
>dualie curved swords duelist
definitely looks like wanderer to me
prince of persia face ass
wow, Fromsoftware invented blue rags, that's crazy
Except it's solid pieces of cloth and not made from ripped rags because unlike western hack frauds, from artists actually design from real life examples.
shut the frick up it looks great
this knight is the "Knight" class (duh)
I wonder if you can skip a level by jumping off the top and then resurrecting in the dead world.
OOB areas have insta killzones which bypass umbral.
Oh, I mean if there are levels where you have to get to the bottom.
Impressive bait thread OP
Very homosexual
Warrior
Pyromancer
The drip on the Pyro is very nice
don't know what this class is supposed to be, Herald?
He's more Mercenary. Relies on his crossbow and his consumables.
and this one must be a mix of Knight, Cleric and Bandit
Downloaded Mortal Shell. What am I in for?
Unique battle system, playing instruments, limited builds, tiny as frick, will either hook you or very much annoy you in the first half hour.
I found the lute. Are there only four shells?
gives me dark souls 2 vibes which is very based. gonna pick it up.
>crank up the particle effects to 120
YEA BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY THAT LOOKS SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDD I'M COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMING
cool your hype, jee makes some fair points that could threaten the viability of the pvp
this game looks so shit it's comical
good looking game at times but man the jankiness is unreal
I can fix her
Why can't westerners make good medieval fantasy? Why does it all have to be WoW nonsense designs.
Souless game.
Original post, donut steal
Don't care. If the level/world design is as garbage and linear as nu-Souls games it will be dog shit regardless.
The level design is the thing most consistently praised by the people who played the demon. Even a guy who claimed to play it said it was good in a thread talking about how he disliked how blocks and parries are just deflects in this game.
>has not paid attention to the past 15 years of Fromsoft
You haven't paid attention to anything because you're a blind moron.
Jesus that looks awful. Janky animation and total lack of feedback when hitting or getting hit by things. Looks like one of those chinses asset flip games with great visuals that fall apart in-motion.
>rags rags, let's cover everything in RAGS
>that will make it look gritty and realistic >:)
but enough about Elden Ring...
Now post the knight armor sets for Lotf
Literally stitched together from rag pieces.
I can't because the game isn't out yet, genius
Where are the rags?
When will people learn that soulsclones are never good. They always add pointless gimmicks and are even jankier than souls games are
better than elden ring that's for sure
>A Souslike that looks better
Nothing compares to Demons Ps5.
Ps5 always looks like CGI, perfection.
Good that it's still not on Pc 😀
The original looks better and it's best played on PC.
Didn't this game release 10 years ago and was considered a solid 4/10? What's going on?
released 10 years ago? are you ok dude? it's 2014, we're looking forward to this souls clone because Dark Souls 2 was a disappointment.
Like 99% of the people who played the original didn't like it. Why keep this game in the same universe and give it the same title.
Because it makes you wonder about it so it already got your attention. Also some morons will surely go "well at least it's not as bad as the original".
>Why not try again, Germoney?
This game has the same issues as all other souls like : hit feedback is fricking garbage and the roll anim sucks dick. Fromsoftware animators are seriously overlooked.
I am at the point where I just look at every new release, scoff, and continue playing my shitty old games. I just stopped caring.
her face wasn't anywhere this bloody in the pre-fight cutscene.
That's likely after some other part of the game. She becomes a level up lady (I think) after you beat her.
She's the level up babe? That'd be extremely based.
From what I've heard, she levels up your healing. You level up at bonfires, and some other NPC upgrades your lantern. I think someone said the blacksmith is female, but I can't be certain about that.
>blacksmith won't be a trusty oldman
Yikes
I still find it funny how "level up lady" is one of the "core features" that a lot of Souls-likes copy in some way.
would sex
Quelaag or Pieta?
Yes?
I never realized Quelaag had a beauty mark. FROM is always putting in details like this that will never get noticed unless you're extremely autistic.
Shills, tell your boss not to casualize the game
Is there going to be a level 1 wretch class? Those are the only classes worth playing as its the only time a game feels like a real RPG
Condemned, yes
Do not sex the holy woman
i will sex the holy woman
The one thing I'll praise about this is that it doesn't have horribly telegraphed attacks designed to roll catch you.
>The rolling also look better since it's a step dodge.
No it doesn't, It looks dumb as frick as you literally go through chest high swords that a roll animqtion would make you duck under
>One thing I really dislike about Elden Ring combat is how it requires you to chain together rolls to dodge attacks.
You are hardly ever requested more than 2 dodges for special boss attacks
>Muh BB dodges
The only reason Bloodborne implemented dashing is the fact that most enemies don't even have a weapon. In Lords of the Fallen it looks like shit because most enemies are dudes with swords
I've counted up to 5 consecutive dodges in Dark Soul III for certain attacks.
>I've counted up to 5 consecutive dodges in Dark Soul III for certain attacks.
Well, that happens when you are shit at the game
> A successor to the 2014 video game of the same name
> the same name
Jesus fricking christ, why do they do this. I hate it. Frick off.
>6 gorillion particle effects on screen all the time
>that liquid injected plastic looking Unreal engine 5-esque models
>floaty underwater hair physics
>every piece of metal is wet and shiny all the time
>Sopping wet pool noodle combat against AOE spam angel guy
Cool, all the reasons why I didn't like the DeS Remake and other modern action games
Might try it if it goes on sale. That or just pirate it.
>no soulsroll
im sold
So, anyone going to use a magic build?
I don't think so, magic builds always make the game too easy
I always make one whenever I can. I hope greatsword wizard is viable
Magic always adds tons of utility and variety.
yeah probably
pyromancy looks cool
>we have coca cola at home: souls edition
now that from has gone full open world slop, souls clones are free to try and fill the niche of the more metroidvania level design and tight enemy encounters of ds1, the dual world gimmick can be interesting, it's the only thing it has going for it
I sincerely doubt this will be anywhere close to fully capture the feeling of from ds1 due to being made by westoid hacks but it's also obvious that as far as blatant ripoffs go this is easily the closest they've gotten to replicating various aspects from the from formula, this is the first one I'm willing to try. you can tell they tried to go for the same depth of build variety which is a big task because from has been building and refining its asset library since DeS, they're doing pvp which is a big task to add, they actually seem to have hired decent talent for art direction, it's extremely derivative but there is some decent taste on display compared to usual western dark fantasy standards, animation and combat feel still seem very poor
mortal shell had some decent art direction early on but frick all build variety and was super short, with typical westoid floaty animations
At the very we are getting PvP in a soulslike.
It won't be the first time, but it also won't be the first time that it turns out to be fricking awful
The frick is happening here?
Why do devs not understand that games like this need good netcode to work on PvP? It's like a Fighting Game.
The situation is infinitely worse than you would ever expect in a fighting game, where people with bad connections simply stop trying to play online.
>t. got rekt by a red
lol kys homosexual
>reading comprehension
everything he said was right. if you fromdrones weren't such cultists they might actually listen to people like him and improve the online
The specs listed on the steam page doesn't seem unreasonable unlike most UE5 games. It even has relatively small file size of 45gb.
647282832
have a nice day
The only thing I remember from this game is DSP somehow crashing the ps4 version then having an autistic meltdown and never playing it again
I remember playstation gave this game out for free or something but I never touched it because the game cover is literally a close up photo of some knock-off Kratos looking fricker looking all pissed and it annoyed me.
This is a reboot coming out in October. In this you can make your own character.
>Soulsreddit like
*YAWNS LOUDLY* let me know when we have SEKINO like
This is probably the closest "Sekiro clone" we have right now.
>This is probably the closest "Sekiro clone" we have right now.
No, that's the Jedi games.
They deserve praise for evolving the defense system beyond rollspam
>sekiro positioning doesnt matter
yes and no
if you do the moronic r1 l1 r1 l1 then yeah nothing matters
But the prosthetics and combat arts are op as frick. They encourage sidesteps, dodges, precise positioning, jumping over (or even ducking under) certain attacks, etc. Which also makes it a lot easier and more fun
the problem is that the game does jack shit to encourage the later playstyle. So most people just l1r1 with maybe firecrackers and shuriken for free hits
the animations in these souls ripoffs always look so bad
>almost 400 replies
Good Lord
Only Ganker is contrarian enough to shill a fricking Lords of the Fallen game
Are you THAT desperate to feel unique and special?
I am genuinely looking forward to it.
>Are you THAT desperate to feel unique and special?
no Black person, I'm looking forward to it because I like the genre, it's better for me if it turns out to be good, I'm not going going to shit on it for no reason just like a fromdrone would.
Isn't this by the same dudes who made the Surge?
Why should I give them a chance after 3 abysmally bad souls like?
This is a new developer and this is their debut title
I guess I'll give it a shot if they release a demo, then. Character design looks like western trash but it's a bit better than the first one. If they don't release a demo I'm just not gonna bother. First one was a bad enough experience to make me sour.
Those guys made the first Lords of the Fallen. This is a completely different studio.
Why are there BDSM knight ladies in this temple? For Mortal Shell.
This is apparently the Queen of Mournstead. She wanted a kid and listened to Adyr.
I can fix her
the first of lords of the fallen were utter trash
>shit story
>balancing
>gameplay
>dialogue
literally nothing was good
why would i trust this company to produce a good sequel lol
It's a different studio developing it and the original LotF is supposedly only canon in lore. It's basically a reboot.
They could have dropped the title altogether and nobody would give a shit. I have no idea why they thought they should keep this game in any way related to the dumpster fire that was the original game. It will only serve to turn people away.
Different dev studio.
I feel conflicted about Code Vein.
It's my second favorite game after Bloodborne, but that comes from a really high tolerance for jank.
I have a 10 page shopping list of faults with CV but the fact that I played it long enough to build up that list means it still got enough right to be fun. It certainly did better than LotF
CV had decent combat but such shit level design.
I've been playing souls games for a long time and I love me some anime shovelware every once in a while, Code Vein is the best of both worlds
also
>shitting on Senran Kagura
get a load of this homo
I found this from looking up the subject matter. I assume you are playing it on Steam? https://steamcommunity.com/app/628670/discussions/0/3114771547432701032/
Deer can be scary, demonic beings.
*trying stuff out
Really? Worse than CV's DLCs?
It's honestly garbage.
I'll put it like this: Of all the notable Soulsclones CV is the only one that never got a sequel. This very thread is about the second Lords of the fallen game.
CV is THAT shit. It's not open to debate.

Why does Hellpoint randomly delete my save data? I want to play the game and like it but
https://steamcommunity.com/app/628670/discussions/0/3114771547432701032/
I never had this problem on my PS4 or PC runs so I have no idea, but even the dev says they don't get deleted, just flagged as "Erased". Also, stay away from the DLC, it's easily the worst Soulslike DLC ever made.
Wow thanks I didn't expect such a prompt response. That seems to have restored an early game file, cool.
Glad to hear it, anon.
Code Vein 2 soon, brothers. Trust the plan.
I see they still haven't learned how to animate for this type of combat
There is a new video with first 13 minutes. It's IGN though so the guy who plays does it in... lackluster way. Also there is some weird silence, but I feel like this is because of this being an early build where not everything is implemented yet as they said they work on sound effects for instance and it should be different in final product.
Oh shit, nice. DEMO WHEN
holy frick the guy playing is so fricking bad, it's painful to watch
looks like soulless UE slop
>Blocking attacks without 100% damage reduction does Wither damage to your HP
Ah, neat. I assume this doesn't apply to perfect blocks.
Lightreaper's enthusiasm sounds a bit goofy.
This dude doesn't sound enthusiastic at all.
Nah rolling looks better
You honestly think rolling 5 times in a row looks better than a short hop?
>rolling looks better than a short hop?
yes
>5 times in a row
skill issue
why the frick do you roll 4 times in a row? also yes, you aren't magically traveling through blades
I usually don't like the aesthetics of non-From soulslikes but this one actually looks really good. Might buy it when it launches. Anyone who played the 2014 LotF, how was it?
SOUL
Complete shit. Combat feels like wading through molasses, and not in a satisfying way.
>how was it
Mediocre, pretty short and overall unimpressive.
>Anyone who played the 2014 LotF, how was it?
Shit
The frick is Dolmen anyway. Never heard of it.
Healing is splashing Pieta's blood on your face. Apparently upgrading certain stats also gives you more information in item descriptions.
Okay tying stats to item descriptions is a pretty cool thing not gonna lie.
Pieta is probably going to be the waifu character.
I wouldn't be surprised if she is assuming she doesn't die at some point.
We need more waifus with Wings. It's rad AF
We know she upgrades our flasks and given that it is HER blood that is being used then... yeah.
Apparently the blacksmith is a woman
Lots of shilling right now.
One guy who was heavily shilling for the game (he preordered the Deluxe edition before the publishers even contacted him) stated that he got a bunch of armor sets off of enemies during his playthrough of the demo.
Oh thats good news, like i said i think they nailed the aesthetics, so worst comes to be and the game is shit at least it will be good screenshot thread fodder.
Yeah true, though i do think Iron Pineapple tends to be more accepting of other series, specially with his steam search videos, got a few small gems myself thanks to them.
One guy said he did found more and apparently there is A LOT of armors in this game. He found I think 4 armor sets.
>wonder why they didnt try the big fish like vaati or oro
they probably did but Bandai Namco owns their asses plus they love that Fromsoft wiener
Probably because most big channels won't give the game a proper chance beyond contract shilling.
Besides what the other people have said, they're probably also busy with shit like Armored Core.
I just noticed that one of this thing's heads is dead. It's the one that the MC kills in the reveal cinematic.
good eye
The first had the most shitty ass floaty combat and this looks to also have mediocre combat unless I play pirated copy I won't know how bad it is, one thing that dark souls does well is the feel of weapons hitting enemies and environment
Reviewers compared the feel of heavy weapons to Mortal Shell, if you've played that.
bruh mortal shell is ass, fug. I guess we've gotta wait another 4 years for new from soft souls like
>Mortal Shell is ass
I'm enjoying the combat right now...
I didn't enjoy it, the only souls like not from from software I enjoyed was Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Is this an entirely new studio and we're just pretending 2014 never existed? Is it a Prey situation?
New studio, first game is still canon.
Quality of the souls-like game is determined by it's Protag's maiden. Lies of P has that Kpop blue hair doll. Pietta seems cute so it's a promising game, i hope we could bang that Queen witch in Demon lord ending.
She is cute
Everyone is distracted by twink freckles.
Looks like a loser gril in a harem anime
>Code Vein has Io
>Lies of P has the Blue Fairy
>Mortal Shell has Sester Genessa
Any others?
I honestly didn't give two shits about any of the girls in Elden Cringe, maybe I liked Roderika a bit but she ended up lusting after Hewg's mibegotten dick
youre a gay, son. each man is a knight and each knight must have a maiden to fight for.
