Racist or not is irrelevant. Nintendo and Japan owns the majority of recognizeable vidya character faces of all time. They are videogames icons for a reason.

Sonic and Megaman were made into Smash characters despite Sonic's every attack being "curling into a ball," and Megaman having a projectile based moveset despite the Smash format typically being about melee attacks and pokes outside of B buttons. Arguments about "You can't make a moveset from that!" are null and void.
Also if you meant about guns, we already have 2 now with Joker and Bayonetta. You could easily make shotgun blasts cartoony enough to be acceptable. And Snake has done rockets, so clearly that's not untouchable.
