Bungie maintained control of the Marathon IP when they were acquired by Microsoft in 2000. Myth went to Take Two at the same time, who have done precisely nothing with it in the last 23 years.
Humorously Take 2 has is not even aware they own it. One of those cases where an ip is bought and permanently vaulted.
You can therefore make Myth stuff and use myth assets and distribute it without much problem since they have not a single care
basically, myth just feels extremely physical. it's not like other games where one model does an animation near another model and some hp gets magically substracted. a model has a damage dealing appendage (a sword, or a projectile) and if the damage dealing appendage connects with the enemy model, damage gets dealt and the the enemy model staggers. it feels meaty and impactful. it's possible to dodge projectiles, it's possible to stunlock an enemy by surrounding it with weaker units whose hits stagger it before it can complete its attack animation. also explosives exist in the game so it's possible to have shrapnel and it's possible for units to get torn apart by a bomb and for other units to pick up torn limbs and exploded rocks and throw them at you again.
OP is a homosexual felcher, we don't need a remake
This too, I just played both games for the first time this winter/ spring and they hold up fantastically.
And I don't mean project magma, I mean Myth TFL 1.3 and whatever version the last official patch of Soulblighter is.
There are only 4 issues I had with the games, all technical: >DRM required the .iso for the game to be mounted every time I wanted to play them >Myth 1 crashed sometimes after completing or loading a mission >Myth 1 also has that "Out of memory" error unless you use the launcher .exe that some dude made a bunch of years ago >Both games required an external Glide wrapper to be set-up
Nothing major or unfixable, but still a bit annoying. Nothing that old GOG couldn't fix. Not sure if new GOG could though. And since Bungie doesn't own the franchise anymore, it's unlikely we're ever going to get a release too.
There is zero reason to actually buy this game since nobody who worked on it will see any cash from it. If there was ever a "pirate this game" list, Myth would be on it.
True, and even if Bungie still had the IP most people that worked on Myth are long gone. The only benefit would be that the game would be more accessible/ portable.
No, I don't mean mobile shit, I mean that having to lug around .iso files that work/ are clean (not that many people inject malware in 20+ years old games) + official patches + unofficial fixes for modern OS is more of a hassle than downloading an installer that works out of the box from a central, safe server.
I've already got everything archived and backed up but I still fear having to transfer it all over to a new PC.
but what marathon is getting is not a remake but another looter shooter online game?
So analogue with Myth would be some sort of online RTS with cards for loadout or something

So... not likely.
didnt myth 3 the wolf age get released under them?
>myth 3 the wolf age
Is it any good? I still have a copy of it but never tried it.
Myth 3 was a cash grab

>a modern myth remake
do devs even know how to make models actually interact with each other anymore
That's a pretty good question.
>how to make models actually interact with each other
what do you mean? never played myth, just curious what you had in mind.

Myth: the MOBA
Pre-order the first season pack lootbox pack and you get the "Connacht the Wolf" epic skin for the champion "Balor".
Myth doesn't need a remake.

It's already playable on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Phonegays ruin projects when they start getting catered to (JA2 Stracciatella)
