Mario sparks of hope

The presentation was pretty good. Why the frick did nobody react to it. It’s so dead on yt outside of gamexplain and good vibes gaming

Are people interested or was it just a timing thing. Guaranteed if that was a direct instead, people would’ve watched it.

The first game continues to be the most persistently on-sale Mario-related game ever. I can only assume the Rabbids content keeps most people away until they can buy it for under $20.

      Anonymous

A shame if true since not only will sparks of hope probably be arguably the best Mario game to date (or on par with some of the 3D mario games), it’ll run the risk of not selling as much as Ubisoft might want and could cause Ubisoft to stop making these games.

      Anonymous

It was already the best selling third party game on switch long before it got its first sale. Also, Ubisoft LOVES to put their stuff on constantts sale for some reason.

      Anonymous

that's because it's a ubisoft game, and ubisoft games go on sale constantly

      Anonymous

      >I can only assume the Rabbids content keeps most people away until they can buy it for under $20.
The game is published by Ubisoft, not Nintendo (hence why it was at a partner's showcase). Ubisoft decides the price, so they put it on sale whenever they put the rest of their games on sale.

        Anonymous

Why is this the case, anyway? In regards to Ubisoft being the publisher. You figure Nintendo would be stubborn enough about their IPs to the point that being on sale for that cheap would have them saying some shit about product quality and how Mario games always deserve the pricetag, how a cheaper price damages the character's image, etc.

          Anonymous

          >In regards to Ubisoft being the publisher.
It's their game. They came up with the idea, pitched it to Nintendo, and it surprisingly got approved. Nintendo's teams were highly involved in supervising how Ubisoft used the Mario branding, but the game design, dev-work, and business practices were all done by Ubisoft.

              To what homosexual?
              It's still Nintendo's ip.
Ubisoft can't touch the series unless Nintendo allows it.
              You being moronic on purpose?
Miht as well ask pokemon or fire emblem to be ported.

                Anonymous

Yeah, and why would Nintendo let their own IP be sold at 20 bucks when they're stubborn at keeping everything the same price for an entire generation? I get that it's Ubisoft's game but I'm talking about why Nintendo is fine with them selling it for so cheap with their characters. Miyamoto/Nintendo in general is hellbent on the "seal of quality" stuff and never settling for less than 60 bucks.

They're probably just comfortable stepping back and letting Ubisoft handle it. It's not like MarioxRabbids is the only Mario game, or even the FIRST Mario game you'll think of on the Switch.

I’m sure it’ll be a great game, though. Finally getting around to playing the DK expansion, and I’m having a lot of fun. If you have a Switch, the first game is one of the best options on the eshop for the (sale) price.

            https://www.gamedeveloper.com/design/blending-two-game-worlds-in-i-mario-rabbids-kingdom-battle-i-

It's common knowledge really. It's understandable that they want to keep a monopoly in mario platformers so is not like the autistic theories about the vagillion nintendo mandates that want to say that they unpersoned a character because X and Y though

          Anonymous

we're not gonna see any paper characters but I bet my left nut that Wario will have his own DLC adventure.
          >miyamoto's only mandate was that he didn't add platforming elements
they did the same for Luigi's Mansion 2 with NLG, it's basically to have them focus on what they're making, and not relying on platforming like the Mario games have.
It makes sense, they want something completely new to the Mario franchise, and adding in platforming elements would go against that.

            Anonymous

It would also keep things fresh and not take sales away from mainline 3D mario games. I’d assume after a while if a spin-off series like LM and Mario rabbids had platforming then the sales of mainline 3D mario Would eventually start to drop due to how people will feel tired out of constant Mario platformers

At this point, the rabbids in these games are barely even rabbids anymore, they more feel like unique characters with some rabbid aesthetics, not that it’s a bad thing, it’s a good work around for new unique characters without going against the Mario mandate
