Pends aren't even popular overseas where they CAN read. The mechanic just isn't very fun.

Things are getting better for them at least. Both God Slime and Ancient Chant were $40 and $60 cards respectively until they got reprinted in Rarity Collection and MAMI. Guardian Slime is probably next.

I struggle to think of a card that lets you summon a pend to their field. There's that Nouvelles spell that throws a Patissciel at them but it archetype locks you.
Also this card is ass unless you're facing something like Lab that targets everything.

Sometimes I forget I'm talking to children who need everything spelled out for them. Maxx c is the only noteworthy one because it's the only one that broadly affects a majority of decks in the game. Shit like circular or scarecrow being banned is largely irrelevant because you weren't going to see non-stop mathmech or fricking shs matchups in the event anyway. Those cards being banned will be no different from you having just matched up against a different deck in the first place.
Meanwhile the maxx c hit fundamentally affects everything. The decks you will match up against are going to be built differently and play differently because maxx c is gone. Maxx c is the ONLY card whose absence will be notably felt.
I'm assuming it's going to be "the currently existing banlist, and then anything that's hit in the TCG that wasn't already hit gets hit". So anything that's already hit in MD stays hit, but then anything that's banned in the TCG also gets hit. That's how these special banlist events always go - shit that was already banned stays banned.

But they also release archetypes and non engine that just shits all over them and Pend cards that are really just monster/spell combo cards that have zero Pendulum synergy so it's hard to say. Not only is it easy to choke, a bunch of plays that pend has to do have pretty serious locks like shit scales that you cant get rid of if your plays gets stopped or beyond the pendulum negating everything on board if you don't pend summon right after (she also has to be summoned in the EMZ)
If you think about it scientifically, Pendulums are the most fair type of summoning mechanic, since they're by far and away the most hurt by the Konami mandated floodgate spam.

The asshurt with Pendulums from the OCG part comes from enduring around a year of a Tier 0 deck called PePe ironically most of PePe's power came from the fact it could make Rank 4s easily and R4 pool was great back then
From the TCG side it mostly comes from boomers that didn't even play hating on the mechanic when it came out. Pends in the TCG have been historically bad with a few exceptions (namely Metalfoes and 2 weeks of PePe). Boomers then latched on to it as the main reason the game went to shit for years even though people that actually play hardly care and are mostly indifferent towards it.

I like them but I played them with an evil eye engine, not a punk one so I don't know how they feel to play in that kind of deck. They put out a consistent 3-4 disruptions and pin baller is a fricking insane boss monster. I do think leon/star leon is fricking overrated though. I'm surprised they made his cards the URs instead of roller baller/pin baller.
You use them as extenders in decks like P.U.N.K. or Evil Eye when your main play gets interrupted. You will simply not brick on non-engine cards.
Half the time you're cut off the main P.U.N.K. line which is Amazing Dragon to bounce on opponent's turn because you used your level 3 P.U.N.K.s for Chariot.

You can have your entire Branded hand shuffled into the deck sans a singleton Branded Fusion and full combo. You can't do that off any single Dinosaur card
You'll typically notice that any 1 card combo replay will have no other cards in hand sans exactly the card in question, like Unicorn, Branded Fusion, Circular, etc. If you need to open another card in your hand, it's not a 1 card combo. Every Dinosaur card cannot full combo without one of several combinations of at least 2 cards

Earth Machine piles use a mishmash of Trains, Infinitracks, Machina, Ancient Gear and any other decent machine they can get their hands on

Pends aren't even popular overseas where they CAN read. The mechanic just isn't very fun.
Facing it is a travesty because most people haven't the slightest clue what to stop so they just gun it on Electrumite.
Building it in MD (unless you're making Deedeedee) is miserable because it needs a bunch of UR used only for pends.
Playing it is meh, because there's only 5-6 or so actual pend decks that are played at all and it's because despite how people complain about the mechanic so much it's not that good.

Things are getting better for them at least. Both God Slime and Ancient Chant were $40 and $60 cards respectively until they got reprinted in Rarity Collection and MAMI. Guardian Slime is probably next.

Beyond is a double edged sword, it's not opt so nib can clear fields, but also mean whatever negate on board get fricked.
Negating pend scale effects is good thing tho.
If you think about it scientifically, Pendulums are the most fair type of summoning mechanic, since they're by far and away the most hurt by the Konami mandated floodgate spam.

The asshurt with Pendulums from the OCG part comes from enduring around a year of a Tier 0 deck called PePe ironically most of PePe's power came from the fact it could make Rank 4s easily and R4 pool was great back then
From the TCG side it mostly comes from boomers that didn't even play hating on the mechanic when it came out. Pends in the TCG have been historically bad with a few exceptions (namely Metalfoes and 2 weeks of PePe). Boomers then latched on to it as the main reason the game went to shit for years even though people that actually play hardly care and are mostly indifferent towards it.

I like them but I played them with an evil eye engine, not a punk one so I don't know how they feel to play in that kind of deck. They put out a consistent 3-4 disruptions and pin baller is a fricking insane boss monster. I do think leon/star leon is fricking overrated though. I'm surprised they made his cards the URs instead of roller baller/pin baller.
You use them as extenders in decks like P.U.N.K. or Evil Eye when your main play gets interrupted. You will simply not brick on non-engine cards.
Half the time you're cut off the main P.U.N.K. line which is Amazing Dragon to bounce on opponent's turn because you used your level 3 P.U.N.K.s for Chariot.

You can have your entire Branded hand shuffled into the deck sans a singleton Branded Fusion and full combo. You can't do that off any single Dinosaur card
