Now the original announcement trailer from 2017 was blue and distinctly phazon themed. With this new trailer and logo there is zero traces of phazon anywhere. Perhaps the original plan with was to bring phazon back and when Retro took over in 2019 they scrapped that idea?

I think they may have tried to make it look like a person is actually wearing the suit. Varia Suit in MP games and Super Metroid look awesome but it doesn't look like shoulders and arms work like that. Looks more like from a commercial, might take some time getting used to it.

You will never have a game that's actually good at everything and they could improve the combat in Metroid Prime by 10x and it still wouldn't be as fun as Doom wads from almost 30 years ago. I'd rather they focus development on aspects I actually play Metroid for like sequence-breakable world exploration and atmosphere. The substandard combat just needs to be kept to a minimum.

Well Metroid was always open world but it might be seamless as in not having doors between sections of the world.

Honestly I don't think there's been much actual "concrete" work for how long Retro's been assigned to it, or as much you'd think. I'd say the MP1 remake was a practice run for Switch development as well as building a contemporary control scheme.
After what happened in Singapore I think Nintendo wanted to make sure there was actually a path from greenlighting the game to a retail release.

They always have another in Sept/Oct. They will likely have more information then, where they will probably have shown off the Switch 2. Prime 4 will probably have it's finalized release date shown then and the game will probably be shown off in full. Considering that the new system seems to really exist and will probably be shown at the end of this year, like how it was for Switch. I honestly can't imagine they would slash the chances of Prime 4 selling, so it will probably be a cross gen title.
They have at least one more since I'm pretty sure they're showing off the Switch 2 this year.

Play Super Metroid
Dread is mediocre but you can get fun out of it, just don't expect much if you already love 2d Metroid prior to Samus Returns. There's stuff I like in Dread but I can't love it. Remaster I haven't played, my gripes with it are artstyle changes but the game is still the same, AFAIK, so I can't see a person disliking Remaster who loved Prime. Remaster also has different control schemes, so you aren't stuck only using the original tank controls if that's not your thing.
Dread is a great game. If you played the original Prime then you really don't need the remaster, but it is a nice way to play the game. The new models look really nice.

Prime 3's special ending scene was Sylux's ship chasing after Samus' after she flies off.
Out of all the hunters introduced in the DS game, he was always the one hyped up the most. He intentionally had a 'mysterious' backstory and had a vendetta against the Feds and Samus by proxy. The Prime Hunters sorta had a color wheel thing going on where hunters of the opposing color sorta mirrored each other (the yellow hunter was a chaotic evil psychopath while the purple hunter was basically a space cop), and while there was an orange rock-man hunter, it seemed like Sylux was always meant to mirror Samus instead, even though his actual role in Hunters was pretty small.
Of note is that Sylux is regularly referred to as 'it' instead of any real gendered pronouns so alt-universe Samus reveal is totally on the table here.
