>They worked, as the youth's fascination with tobacco was inadvertently replaced with cannabis
Lmao I wish, do you know how many people are vaping nic these days?
>they worked, as the youth's fascination with tobacco was inadvertently replaced with cannabis.
no they didn't, the cigarette companies just started selling kids flavored nicotine for vaping, which has the added benefit of high-schoolers being able to get away with using it indoors and during class because it doesn't set off smoke alarms and they can charge the pens in any outlet.
I finished highschool seven years ago back in 2015 and there were already gays charging their e-cigs in the classroom wall outlets, I can't imagine how bad it is nowadays.
I get 4 not having a port due to being stuck in Cell Hell and nips often being disposal-happy with their source codes/materials, but there's no good excuse for 1/2 to not get updated ports and 3 to not have a port at this point.
I used to smoke weed every day but I’m currently stopping because it makes me have a miserable panic attack and I start obsessing about my shitty breakup from two weeks ago. It’s making vidya a little less enjoyable sadly but hopefully I’ll just get the inspiration to start reading and running again soon… one of these days…
>depression and anxiety without it is hard
Yeah, yesterday was one of the lowest days of my life. The first three days of quitting anything is always the hardest part and you just have to soldier through it. You can do it and do not give up.
MGS4 already looked bad by 2008 standards. The character models were great but the environments were washed out and muddy with crappy brown/blue filters on everything. Crysis, Bioshock and Killzone 2 the year after completely blew it out of the water.
Gameplaywise the series only got worse after 2 with all the camo and crawling bullshit.
Go back to it. There's a ton of little things you can do in 4 that you can't in 5 for whatever reason. For example, you can go from prone to to hanging from a ledge.
Mgs4 biggest issue was probably the cutscene to gameplay ratio but the actual mgs4 gameplay and its mechanics is fantastic. >the amount of weapons each uniquely tuned >the octocamo system >all of the beast bosses while being call backs to previous bosses were all unique challenges unto themselves >the frogs and geckos >Rex vs Ray >Snake vs Ocelot >the online
And the main negative of the online was Konami handling all the updates and such through their systems and not through psn that made it a moronic hassle to update in a decent fashion
I remember beating this game on launch day and thinking it was the best game ever and most epic conclusion to a saga ever made. Was I emotionally manipulated? Apparently everyone on the internet hates it.
Does it fricking matter? Are you going to let some chromosome catchers who haven’t had an original thought in fifteen years make you not enjoy yourself?
Now do what I say and accept and enjoy that you enjoyed it.
It's okay to enjoy things. It doesn't matter whether or not it's objectively good or what Kojima thought about it and the series in general. Yeah, the references were creatively bankrupt, the humor was horrible even for MGS, it was trying too hard to explain literally everything and tie it all together leaving no mystery to remain in the series. There's still fun to be found there. There's nothing like MGS as a series anyway so why not enjoy it for what it is.
>it was trying too hard to explain literally everything and tie it all together leaving no mystery to remain in the series
You can't fault it for doing its job. Everything about MGS4 was intended to be the 'last game'. They even made that encyclopedia app on the PS3 just for the MGS lore up to that point. If it wasn't for Kojima trying to impress his son with a PSP game, 4 would actually have been the last game and most people would've been fine with that.
Most series don't get the luxury of going that hard for the finale. Hell, most series don't even end properly. It's remarkable that people take MGS4 for granted.
There are different ways to wrap things up. It doesn't have to be Lucas-like manic obsession with explaining every single detail. MGS4 didn't need to exist for the series to be considered done when every single MGS game was supposed to be the 'last game' until it wasn't. That's also the reason why I give MGS4 a full pass on its corny writing and meaningless twists and fully enjoy it for just being a MGS game.
They were trying to get a 50GB game to play smoothly on a console where 20GB hard drives were common. It's like complaining about old RPGs coming in 3 discs.
Honestly if the whole game was fleshed out like Chapters 1 and 2 with the whole picking sides in the battles, sneaking through huge warzones then I would've loved the game more.
It just needed longer gameplay segments. I wouldn't mind the long cutscenes if it wasn't for that. You're just starting to enjoy an area and then it's over, it seems like.
There were already tons of active public campaigns back then to convince young people to stop smoking.
They worked, as the youth's fascination with tobacco was inadvertently replaced with cannabis.
>They worked, as the youth's fascination with tobacco was inadvertently replaced with cannabis

But the message is to consider others when smoking?
Yeah no. Kids are vaping nic.
t. taught at a highschool last year.

Vaping makes you moronic btw, thought you zoomers should know.
Yeah, it was mindblowingly bad
sour grapes
I really would love to see a PC remaster. One for the first 3 too would be great. Too bad Konami is now exclusively a Pachinko company.
I get 4 not having a port due to being stuck in Cell Hell and nips often being disposal-happy with their source codes/materials, but there's no good excuse for 1/2 to not get updated ports and 3 to not have a port at this point.
I smoke almost every night. I feel guilty but I'm depressed and it's helping me eat more (bulking and lifting). I have to cure my SEVERE oneitis.

Just don't do it too long. I have been doing it every day for 2 years straight and today is my second day sober. I honestly feel free.
I can go a day or so, but the depression and anxiety without it is hard. Thankfully I don't wake and bake.
>depression and anxiety without it is hard

DUDE

MGS5 was the only MGS game with good gameplay
>inb4 shitty webm
MGS4 has better gameplay, the online is proof enough of that
>MGS4 has better gameplay
lol no
Search your feelings, you know it to be true.
Go back to it. There's a ton of little things you can do in 4 that you can't in 5 for whatever reason. For example, you can go from prone to to hanging from a ledge.
Also the camera is centered in 4.
Mgs4 biggest issue was probably the cutscene to gameplay ratio but the actual mgs4 gameplay and its mechanics is fantastic.

Pfff, I've stayed lit for the past decade.
I remember beating this game on launch day and thinking it was the best game ever and most epic conclusion to a saga ever made. Was I emotionally manipulated? Apparently everyone on the internet hates it.

>short as frick game
>installation after every level
It was dogshit
They were trying to get a 50GB game to play smoothly on a console where 20GB hard drives were common. It's like complaining about old RPGs coming in 3 discs.
>installation after every level
>Not doing the full installation
That's where you fricked up
Full install wasn't a thing until years after 4 came out.
Yup. It was in 2012 when they also added trophies
4 is amazing but I always drop it on replay once I get halfway through Shadow Moses and the novelty dies off.
It was impressive, yes.
Chapter 1 & 2 were (Until MGSV) peak metal gear gameplay.
Sadly, everything else about the game was (at the time) peak Kojima.
Honestly if the whole game was fleshed out like Chapters 1 and 2 with the whole picking sides in the battles, sneaking through huge warzones then I would've loved the game more.
Don’t be a homosexual anon. MGS is nothing without Kojima and his Kojimaness
Yes, but not every aspect of Kijimaness is a net positive.
The frame drops absolutely ruined this game for me. I'd buy a remaster on whatever system in a heartbeat
I remember when people would post videos of the intro saying it was the next assassins creed kek
i think is cool they had a full podcast in the game. the laughing octopus fight was cool too.
It was shit then and its shit now.
Story feels like fanfiction, pacing is abysmal, and most of the gameplay outside act 1 and 2 is tedious at best.
It still is. I've yet to see better cutscene choreography.
It just needed longer gameplay segments. I wouldn't mind the long cutscenes if it wasn't for that. You're just starting to enjoy an area and then it's over, it seems like.
you weren't alive in 2008
Still haven't touched it and I've played MGS2-3 several times.
Never released in PC.
