This. They tried something nobody else had done and executed it flawlessly in one try. Brainlets only complaint was that it wasn’t a 90 hour “experience” because it lacked any filler or padding.
First one had a pretty boring story full of plotholes but who cares it was fun.
Catalyst was a "letter to the fans" who paraded an "open world" game for years. Yeah, we told you so frickers.
But they actually didn't do it right. The whole thought behind Mirror's Edge is that runners are free-flowing, seeing pathways where a normal person wouldn't and improvising on the fly, but catalyst was lacking in fun improvised movement potential. Instead they throw you a fricking linear grapple hook.
Like at any given point in Mirror's Edge you can usually see ways you could handle an obstacle more or less efficiently. I remember the vast majority of Catalyst being "run forward and jump off the rooftop, maybe swing off a bar or two"
There's STILL open world gays insisting "they just didn't do it right" instead of shutting the frick up and taking the L.
I'm not a fan of "open world" but it definitely could've been done a lot better. The overworld map is just bad, some areas are interconnected by a single point that you'll always have to go through, and the whole thing is kind of C-shaped so there's not a lot of room to actually tackle an objective your own way. I had to stop doing those delivery missions because the only way to make it in time is to turn on the runner vision trail thing.
In the subway of the city my grandparents live there's a big picture of that character with info about how to work at a videogame company
Never though that character would be from an actual known videogame lol
First game was great.
Second game is what's wrong with video games.
Game development by committee. Suits at the top wanting to check as many money maker check marks.
Making games to make money, not making money to make games.
Man, reading about the reasons why they didn't make a Mirror's Edge 2 was heartbreaking. They didn't make it not because of the poor sales or something like that. They didn't make it because they didn't want to do "more of the same", they were waiting for some "fresh ideas". Jesus Christ, they had a perfect game on their hands, a masterpiece with only downside being too short, and they just blew it off.
I want a Mirror's Edge Multiplayer game structured a little like Hunt Showdown or Tarkov.
You either play as a runner or a cop in an open city setting. Cops are armored and well-armed but have to rely on limited use vehicles to get around. Runners have basically the full run of the city including maintenance areas the cops can't get to. Runners have to deliver packages on a timer, Cops need to meet a quota of captured runners or contraband, both on a timer.
>EA had no faith in the concept selling without gunfights, consequently the only fun part of the game was time trials, which you need to beat the story to unlock >first person platforming is inherently janky *if it's too heavy for people playing for the first time >game is extremely short and most people really don't care to grind TTs unfortunately >in Catalyst the story was bad again, but also cringe future-feudalism shit, and they had an overworld that was annoying or too easy to navigate (never inbetween), and doubled down on combat, but with XP unlocks
In Mirror's Edge combat happens quickly. You steal a gun, you shoot the remaining cops in your way, and you keep running. The game keeps a good pace and you never spend much time at all away from the meat of the game, the parkour bits
Catalyst regularly has you engage in a mediocre beat 'em up
You could also beat the shit out of all of them. I remember towards the end of the game there was a part where a door opens up and a couple dozen cops show up and you're meant to run from them. Instead I just knocked them out one by one using a bit of wall running to build my speed shield back up and be immune to their bullets.
I must be the only person who enjoys the gun sections in ME, on some runs it's refreshing to kick guy in the nuts, take his gun spray two others and run away.
I like them too. The sections that are designed for weapon use are great, where you have to split up enemies and find a good time to steal a gun before you can fight back. It's different from going fast, but it's still about your movement and environment use and it lets you have a few moments of quiet after they're all dead instead of "Good work Faith, that swat team and their support helicopters just buggered off for some reason"
I love them, honestly. They're both a break in the gameplay and a strong contrast. You trade momentum to take out enemies just for a second and then it's back to running. It's cathartic, and it feels good.
Some of the segments are kind of annoying without using a gun. You need to bait enemies a lot and certain fights get funky and prolonged.
I've done it before but at this point I honestly find gun runs more fun. one parry, three blasts and continuing on is a better time than four parries or awkward punchouts.
Nothing, it's the perfect game and will be until the end of time.
this
>needs EA accoutn to be played
mirror's edge came out pre-origin, idiot
It never did. In fact GOG sells a DRM free version of the game
This. They tried something nobody else had done and executed it flawlessly in one try. Brainlets only complaint was that it wasn’t a 90 hour “experience” because it lacked any filler or padding.
Other than it being too short, nothing
It's a feature, perfect for one sitting, get a good time play it again next day and see if you can do better
First person platforming is kinda moronic in general.
Apart from the boring plot it is a perfect video game.

It needed to have a map-maker mode so people could upload levels and give it longevity.
Otherwise it's fantastic and pure soul.
The combat
the sequel
it's a tech demo, promoted as such and you homosexuals ask for more
what a fricking cuck mentality

no barefoot mod
didn't understand what made it good, just like bad company 2
that's because you have shitty taste.

Cutscenes and story. But at least it was made before the mandatory propaganda in EA games.
>what went wrong?
EA
It was first game of trillogy we never got.
Nothing. Absolute gameplay perfection.
Make it VR
>EA had no faith in the concept selling without gunfights, consequently the only fun part of the game was time trials, which you need to beat the story to unlock

couldn't play it because I'd get nauseous whenever faith rolled to soften the fall
Gun segments really were shitty. Graphics look cool but that's about it.
Catalyst was way worse for not having the gun segments honestly
That was one of the few good things about catalyst. Too bad everything else was just mediocre about that game.
Was it?

Wouldn't call it a beatemup tbh, if you have flow/focus/whatever that bar was, you usually onehit or twohit them and you keep running
You could also beat the shit out of all of them. I remember towards the end of the game there was a part where a door opens up and a couple dozen cops show up and you're meant to run from them. >Gun segments
Literally one section of the final level and that one sniper section which is easy as piss.
I must be the only person who enjoys the gun sections in ME, on some runs it's refreshing to kick guy in the nuts, take his gun spray two others and run away.

faith will never pop my head like a melon between her thighs
i would love a mirror's edge that borrows more from jet set radio
nothing, but maybe it's too hard for you
I finished it a few months ago and it was great. Beautiful colors
give her a white boyfriend and the sales would go up.
Recession.
Faith was cute in first game
In second one she has more jaw than Schwarzenegger
If you didn't beat the game without ever using a gun I demand you go back and try harder.
Some of the segments are kind of annoying without using a gun. You need to bait enemies a lot and certain fights get funky and prolonged.

Linear level design, basic moveset, poor cutscenes and it feels a bit clunky
>Linear level design, basic moveset
Good
If this is your first game you ever played then maybe you are correct
dilate opentroony
>mods are israelites
>shitalian living in Rome
Kek
The sales.
Everything else was on point. Yes, even the plot. I don't need Shakespeare, just a premise to going from point a to point b.
Mogged
