Mojang Sweden has this Swedish progressive culture (surprise surprise) obsessed with environmentalism. They continually add new endangered animals to the game but they're completley useless as they refuse to make endangered animals drop loot. Literally just virtue signalling. They shot down any suggestion to add fauna like sharks for the same reason.

just about any mod, really. there are even modsto bring content from future updates to version 1.12, best version with the most active mod support
They should just release a proper modding API instead of breaking mods every update. We lose tons of content everytime they release something new to the point you try the new content to see it and then stay in the previous version until mods catch-up.

some modders are up there own ass too. one magic mod i liked to use, botania, doesnt play nice with optifine, makes a few blocks it adds invisible and ,made creating mana pools and other neat features it added too much of a hassle. when i looked for a way to fix it, the creator said it was optifines creator's fault and that he can fix it. wonder if someone ever found a workaround or if botanias creator calmed his autism and fixed it.
Optifine is closed source and basically not documented at all, moron: fixing incompatibilities is basically impossible unless the optifine devs do it themselves.

The Aquatic Update and Nether Update were good. Caves and Cliffs is an update stretched over 3 updates with a bunch of stuff missing so people are less generous
