>doing Afflicted Almudron with randos >It's zooming all over the fricking place >Everything but the tail and the head is a shitzone so we can barely break the cores on the legs and arms >Sometimes he hides the legs undermud so you can't even hit him >mfw
I fricking hated it, I'm surprised nobody even carted tho.
Kush is pretty fun in Rise, no idea what you're talking about, the lack of a constant wind aura pushing you away improves the monster significantly.
>Went into Afflicted Almudron after being condemned with 40+ MR Almudron runs trying to get a fricking mantle
Genuinely helped with understanding his openings, but man he's still obnoxious. Please no scatmon in the next game.
Kush is actually pretty fun now. Who would have thought having him actually on the ground would have made him not insufferable.
Kush was fun in Rise, but he's back to being an annoying c**t in Sunbreak >roars every other second >constantly jumps to the otherside of the arena like he's Barioth or some shit and spams projectiles and tornadoes >still has one of the worst downed animations in the game
The other two are great though.
I do agree that Kushala is more jumpy in Sunbreak compared to base Rise but I still had quite a lot of fun, besides, he's still made out of paper, i do agree on the downed animation however, trying to Perfect Rush it is a waste of time yet I still try it everytime.
I did find MR Kushala far more fun that MR Teo honestly, can't speak for MR Chammy since I haven't done him yet.
mr chameleos is a fricking Black person. i die every single time to the double body slam since i play gs with rage slash and greed, or am stuck on the recovery
You have no idea how fricking hyped that made me for RISE. it's sad because despite GU-like cooldown ability garbage from wireshit, I'm still much happier with the game than World just from the (traditional colorful) artistic direction and map design isn't cancerous.
I just fought what turned out to be a giant gold crown Chameleos and that was the most unpleasant monster hunter experience of my life.
Could not hit his head or tail or any non-shitzone at all.
There’s less and less “big” relases these days because of dev costs that are actually games and not “cinematic” garbo. So people gravitate towards the series that did survive the culling.
>Monsters finally have enough speed/distance covered to punish HBG (not LBG or Bow sadly) >A bunch of different ways to shoot depending on monster so you can mix things up >HBG wirebug counters don't protect from multi hit attacks, or rather the ensuing long ass animation guarantees a hit if there's more than one >Wirebug slide skill makes you feel cool when you dodge with it >Melee Attack switch skill acts as a handy GP >Healing Mech WyvernSnipe/Heart gives you a built in way to heal HP loss, but at a huge time sink and with actual potential to get hit
Dereliction HBG without dabbling in the HAME stunlock bullshit is really fun. I just wish the new Switchskills weren't solely "have more DPS" and instead focused on actually altering gameplay.
It's fun when you use it as an actual weapon, so very sub-optimally. Next I think I'll build a GS build by farming it with this gun, can I just play with Surge Slash and no charge attacks?
Also, I have a complaint. Counter Shot only fires a humble damage bullet and is actually fun to use despite costing 2 whole Wirebugs, while Counter Charger which is literally nothing other than a fricking flat massive DPS increase cost only 1.
I actually haven't played GS since I finished base Rise when it came out. I only know HBG right now. Where do I get the switch skill that lets me swing dodge?
>LR/HR mission unlocks, it'll tell you which is HBG >Craft a certain amount of a weapon to get the relevant one from Utsushi >MR1 you get 2 for free >MR3-4 just before Astalos Urgent gives you 2 more
HBG only has a relatively short sliding wirebug skill, it's mostly used for moving into Pierce position sort of use.
AH, I'm using the Garangolm cannon and it has a very limited ammo type. No pierce ammo unfortunately. Thanks for the info.

You can use it to zoom to the face and break their stupid mugs or launch into position to fire Slicing at the tail, I was just saying that it's a repositioning tool for your shots and not that it only works with Pierce.
Or alternatively to that, you can do what is inarguably the most chad move in Monster Hunter's entire history. Ignore all your absurd DPS to charge headfirst into the monster and smack him with your gun instead, if you manage to do this and KO the monster before the Hammer gets to do his last swing every woman within 3km's of you will instantly get soaking wet.
>No idea how guntrannies fair
You say this as if that nickname has any meaning at all and Bow isn't sitting right fricking there in the same boat as both Bowguns.
Relative to melee maybe but not with ranged. The skill floor and ceiling are higher. Guess I should've said lbgtrannies who can shoot while moving and having no attack commitments. But AFAIK hbg has a free escape wirebug move and can still pierce/stickysnipe.
Bow is the second safest Ranged option and shits out damage from complete safety just like LBG, HBG is the only relatively tame one and even that's only when you're not stunlocking the monster with the OP bullet of the year. Either all ranged weapons are "trannies" even though that statement makes zero sense, or none of them are. Your bow is not exempt.
>journey from low rank to high rank with all these monsters to fight >okay now go from high rank to master rank fighting all those monsters you already fought again but they're a little harder >now you've unlocked master rank afflicted quests! are you ready to go through the whole game a 3rd time fighting all the monster you already fought once gain but now they're even harder?!
>journey from low rank to high rank with all these monsters to fight >okay now go from high rank to master rank fighting all those monsters you already fought again but they're a little harder >now you've unlocked master rank afflicted quests! are you ready to go through the whole game a 3rd time fighting all the monster you already fought once gain but now they're even harder?!
>go from fighting monsters in the 1st rank >to fighting the same monsters with a few extra in the 2nd >and then the same monsters as the 2nd rank again, with a few extra in the 3rd again >and finally, fight the same monsters as the 3rd rank again but slightly stronger and in the same rank. Also with a few extras
Yes, anon. This is all MH has ever been, repeated fights and lazy developers.
>Rise was the side game >Next MH is main line >They go back to appealing to America again via dragons and dinosaurs >Also slabs of metal with a bit of the monster you just fought at the hilt
I really hope they go back to the World wep designs. It makes much more sense, I hate all these realistic glowy weeabo weps. I was so sad when I finally got Zinogre weps in Rise and it looked so different to world.
I think it's pretty likely they'll do exactly that with armours this time in MR, even if they're not the deviants themselves or their equipment. Just a similar fight to Soulseer and a new/returning gunner Mizu armour, for example.
It's easy as frick to do, earns them a lot of brownie points and the fanbase will 100% forgive them with that and then some.
It's not naive to assume that a company might put the least amount of effort possible in to make a change to something they were originally lazy with if their playerbase has had a huge issue with it. They'll put in slightly more effort this time and get really good press for listening to the players despite not deserving it, this isn't the old days where you could just pretend they don't exist. A massive portion of your advertising is online/social networking based and most major advertisements directly target consumers nowadays.
>they'll put in effort for good PR!
You do know you're talking about Monster Hunter Sunbreak here, yeah?
I just explained why it's possible they might. If the complaint of deviants without unique rewards actually reached Japan, then that's the incentive to do it right there. Your product can unironically live or die based on viral happenings, and most companies would fricking kill for a notable content creator or influencer *spits on the floor* to plug their product since the old ways of advertising barely reaches their market.
If it involved a lot of work to do it I'd be skeptical too, but it's not like they have to put much effort in. >slightly change existing Monster models to look more like Deviants, or just don't even change them and call them something else >model a few armour sets for each, don't even have to design them since Deviant sets or Gunner armours already exist. Literally just create the models and rearrange existing skills onto them. >think up 1-3 moves or changes to throw people off
There, done. Didn't they already show the slightest amount that they listen to fans by entirely creating a skeleton rig, armour, model, moveset, arena, custcenes and so on for Fatalis due to the fans wanting him even though it wasn't in their plans at all for Iceborne? Obviously this game isn't riding on the same hype wave, but the work needed here is also barely even anything at all.
I really wish the melding wasn't so garbage. I put in multiple full orders and I get 100% garbage. If I'm lucky I might get one with 2 level 2 slots but that's rare as frick and will always come with terrible skills. I don't know how they made this so awful.
Not him, but I just unlocked MR4 after beating Lunagaron and still have no MR melding nor the other switch skills, did I missed some hidden quests or what
Anon, at this point everyone know about Gaismagolm
But wait, I need to beat the final boss to unlock the other switch skills too????
wtf were they thinking
There's obviously going to be a Mizu variant of some kind simply because one of the silhouettes on the second panel of the roadmap is very obviously Mizu (with the other being Espinas).
No idea where people are getting the fire thing from though.
The fire part is speculation, but one of the silhouettes on the roadmap is clearly Mizutsune. They even zoomed in on the silhouette to make it less obvious when they updated it with Seething Bazelgeuse.
They would have said that instead of subspecies and rare species of that was the case. That’s also the only update that doesn’t add variants or “special species” of any sort, just subs and rares. Also if they were going to bring back deviants it would be more than just one or two of them and they would shill the frick out of it as a feature in a base game or expansion, not tucked away in random update with zero mention of it.
>Subspecies
Charges up a large fireball, flies up and then releases it. Sometimes it comes out faster, but flashes with a tell. >Rare species
Spits out DOT shit across the arena. In one quest, has a combination attack with the former with the two colliding into each other.
I'm hoping they do something more interesting with it in this game >Regular Espinas is shown hunting status toads in Sunbreak to explain why it has its poison and paralysis abilities >Subspecies Espinas completely replaces those two statuses with blast and sleep to match the other two toad types
The MH devs are autistic about changing monsters’ elements and statuses so I doubt it, but it would be neat. If they bother to bring Rare Species Espinas over too then they could give him the Zenith Espinas moveset, if they were feeling particularly devilish.
>The MH devs are autistic about changing monsters’ elements and statuses so I doubt it
What do you mean with that?
It's litterally the main way they are doing subspecies going from third gen onward
2 years ago
Anonymous
Espinas Subspecies is an existing monster that already uses fire, poison and paralysis, they aren’t likely to alter it. I don’t mean creating subspecies and variants so they can change elements and such, I mean reworking an already existing monster to use different elements/statuses. Like if they decided one day that Rathian and Rathalos were ice element instead of fire, rather than just giving them ice variants.
Anonymous
I mean, they could always make a new Espinas species for the mainline.

It’s more to do with naming conventions I guess. In Japanese the subspecies don’t get unique names like in English, they’re just “[monster name] Subspecies”, which is probably the reason they’ve never given a monster multiple subspecies before, as they would have the same name. There’s rare species and variants to get around that, but rare species have the same issue where their Japanese names are just “[monster name] Rare Species”. Variants do get unique names in Japanese, but the update with the Espinas silhouette is the only one to not list any variants, just subspecies and rare species, so it would seem his existing one is coming back.

What's the difference between a subspecies and a variant and a rare species?
Anonymous
Subspecies before third gen were just stronger versions of the existing monster. From third gen onwards they get new elements and appear in different maps, while variants take over the role of being “the same monster but stronger”. Rare species are endgame level versions of a monster that you fight in an arena or locked to a single zone, kinda like a siege fight.

Then...make a named subspecies?
the whole system is so stupid anyway
What's the difference between a subspecies and a variant and a rare species?
Like, let's be honest, subspecies are basically "the fist sub the monster get" and rare species are "the second sub a monster get"
The only case of this not happening is in frontier, where a lot of strange shit happen
About variant, in the new system were subspecies are usually quite different for the element they use, Variant are just the same monster but stronger for some reason
You could say that both subs/rare are genetic aberration of that monster that happen after a lot of generation of breeding.
Meanwhile, variant could totally happen in the same gen as the base species.
Maybe they are always enraged, maybe they lost some body part etc...
He has several. There’s an orange/brown subspecies, a white/purple rare species, HC versions (HC monsters were Frontier’s equivalent to Apex/Hyper/Tempered/Afflicted basically) with some minor appearance changes, and Zenith Espinas when Frontier Z dropped towards the end of the game’s lifespan.
The fire part is speculation, but one of the silhouettes on the roadmap is clearly Mizutsune. They even zoomed in on the silhouette to make it less obvious when they updated it with Seething Bazelgeuse.
Monster "Hunter", more like Monster "Brawler".
Every mission feels like an arena mission.
There's no "hunting" if you can get to the monster in under 30 seconds.
Go back to Monster hunter 1 so you can spend 75% of 40 minutes chasing Rathalos around and drinking your upkeep juice so the level doesn't burn you death.
Mud slicer have 280 attack,59 water and 0 crit
Your build give 90% crit meaning a 36% increase in raw damage
Now, the difference between AB 6 and 7 is 2% raw and 1 raw, meaning you lose around 6raw (that "become" 8 considering crit)
Meanwhile WA5 give you 20% element and +4, for a total of 17 more element
Now, let's take for example Tobi Kedachi head, with 48 slash and 30 water, you lose 4 raw for 5 element
On the tail (65raw, 30 water) you lose 5 raw for 5 element
On the neck (48raw, 20 element) you lose 4 raw for 3.5 water.
Honestly, element feel pretty meh, it's basically only good when hitting a weakzone that have full element weakness but only a "decent" raw hitzone.
I'm an idiot, I forgot indeed the bigger part
most of DB MV are about 10/15% so it's actually 1 raw lose at best vs 5 more damage.
Considering the 280 raw * 0.48 * 0.12 is about 16 damage, that 4 more is a good boost indeed
your attacks are slow as shit, but are great for punishing, abuse your tackle super armor and practice your TCS (True Charge Slash) so you dont whiff your swings and end up looking like a total loser.
Welp, time to put MH back on the shelf. Getting everything you want is just too easy now, I have two cats stealing shit, wyvern riding can give you like 6 drops, good luck gives you another 4 sometimes. Maybe I'll just autistically grind for decos or somethiny.
uhhhh you should take 7 min to find the monster then another 20 to kill it and you should only have a one-time 1% chance to get a mantle for the whole half hour and you should repeat that 20 times to get one mantle and you should do that 5 times to get mantles for weapons and armors you want to make
Wyvern riding is pretty mandatory, i guess you could just launch the monster but arbitrarily doing that is like pokemon levels of cope where shills say that you can just nuzlocke for a harder game
Does bubbleblight give iframes or evade distance?
Just got a Bubbly 3 Constitution 3 2-1-0 talisman and was thinking of making a bow build out of it along with Quick Breath for easy heals and resuscitate procs on demand. Maybe even pair it with Bloodlust.
If bubbleblight also provides evade distance then I can also forego a level of EE.
>once again have to beat the game to look good
God I hate this, at least LR armor should've been unlocked at the end of LR, at least gives me a reason to go back and dunk on the unfinished LR quests with HR gear.
Reminder of what we know is coming in updates thus far:
>Title Update 1
Lucent Nargacuga and Seething Bazelgeuse are confirmed. The roadmap says that there are multiple rare species and variants coming in this update, with “several” besides the confirmed two left to show, so that’s at least three more monsters coming in this update. Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos were datamined so they’re probably gonna be in this update, or at least one of them will be, but there were no other variants datamined so that proves the datamines were incomplete.
>Title Update 2
No confirmed monsters yet but it says that multiple rare species and subspecies are coming, so that means at least four monsters here. Espinas’ subspecies from Frontier was datamined, so he’ll likely be here, but no other subspecies were, so again the data mine was incomplete. Strangely though, a Mizutsune rare species was datamined. Assuming there isn’t also a subspecies coming in this update that just wasn’t listed, this will be the first time in the main series that a monster gets a rare species without having a subspecies. Who the other rare species ends up being is up in the air, it could be another new one or it could be Molten Tigrex since he’s in this game too.
>Title Update 3
Nothing known about this one other than the fact that it adds multiple variants and several monsters overall, so at least three monsters here.
>Title Update 4 and beyond
Nothing known about these other than that they’ll release in 2023. I doubt these will add much of anything though, the game’s support cycle will be rounding down by then if the last few MH games are anything to go off.
In lore, not much, rare species are just stronger and rarer than subspecies. In gameplay, rare species work like arena fights even if you don’t fight them in an actual arena, they stay in one zone and will never go to sleep. They’re also a lot bigger than the normal species and subspecies, and strength wise they’re on par with elder dragons and other endgame monsters. Shit like the metal Raths, Lucent Nargacuga, Abyssal Lagiacrus, and so on.
I don’t recall, he wasn’t in the longsword weapon description datamine which is the main one people are citing, but that could just mean he doesn’t have a longsword.
He was in the armor datamine from the demo, which we know is legit because it had all the new skills added to Sunbreak in it before we knew about them on the release date, but he wasn't in the weapon description datamine from the full game, so it could go either way.
They basically have to. Shagaru is missing his double wingarm slam into super slam and is basically just a GS tutorial in this game. Chaotic was designed to specifically shit on most of Shagaru's GS openings in 4U and I suspect they're going to do the same thing when he's added.
Historically speaking if it's not in the datamine it's not gonna be added. And historically speaking too the later updates are just collab quests. Realistically speaking we are only looking at 7 monsters that were datamined.
That was base Rise, which was from a different team to Sunbreak. Iceborne, the most recent G Rank game (before the current one), didn’t have every update monster referenced in the files at launch, while both base World and base Rise did. So we can assume that Sunbreak is formatted the way Iceborne was since it’s coming from the same team. The roadmap implies that at least 10 monsters are coming in updates when you take plurals and the word several in each section into account, so I think it’s safe to say that there’s more coming that aren’t in the datamined info. We have probably everything coming in update 1 and most of update 2, but there’s still at least one subspecies missing from update 2 and then several variants for update 3. So that’s at least four more monsters beyond the datamined ones.
>carted to a Bnahabara while mining because I wasn't paying attention to Dereliction HP drain >carted by a Bullfango because I wasn't paying attention to Dereliction HP drain >instantly carted to Blood Orange Bishaten on it's first attack of the hint because I wasn't paying attention to Dereliction HP drain
Soul...
oh no, 3 minutes hunts to get materials, the horror
also wtf you had way too much time to get the materials
going from "hurr durr there is nothing to do" to "uh actually there was something to do but I didn't care so I need to do it now when it's less fun"
Honestly, the Rampage areas and installations could work really well for a siege fight, but since the last siege fight was fricking Zorah Magdaros I would be perfectly happy if they never touch them again. And Shen Gaoren is too tall for any sort of normal fight, even with wirebugs.
Zorah took way too long, had too much waiting and the part where you traverse its back sucks, especially when compared to the Mohrans.
It was the worst big monster fight by a mile, IMO, somehow managing to beat even MHFU Lao Shan and that one Shen Gaoren you fight in Lao's area.
It didn't even feel impressive the first time you fight it, never mind the nth time for when you need a goddamn gem.
was cool, why everyone hate >Hit pimples >Wait five minutes, maybe beat up Nerg if he hasn't already fricked off >Load cannons >Fire Dragonator (or not if you don't want to listen to Proof Of A Hero played by the Symphonic Brap Orchestra) >Maybe load cannons again >"Quest Complete!"
It was fricking shit
i'm tired with everyone being okay with monster hunter being severe grindfest, i'm sick of spending all day farming for rare parts and talismans and getting nothing in return.
Then...don't farm all day? There has never been a reason for grinding other than MR for unlocks. You don't need a perfect build, infact you don't even need a build to begin with.
Honestly a game like MonHun needs some sort of fail safe or something >trade X amount of monster parts for a mantle/gem >destroy X number of decos to make the one you want >you need a thousando points >each part/deco has different value when you trade it in
Or you know just bump up the percentage.
this is why i really liked the melding pot in World where you could just toss in a ticket and get a gem out, i didnt even mind that the tickets were very limited and hard to come by, it was a always a good trade when you got to spend them on a rare part for a monster you hate fighting.
am i the only one that actually enjoys magmadron? im convinced its because it feels like hes 2x smaller than almudron and he isnt constantly in mud/water or whatever spazzing the frick out, way easier to actually tell what magmadron is gonna do which makes it fun.
He still wastes your time moving around a ton, that move where he dives in and out of the ground all over the zone in particular is just a massive time waster that isn't even dangerous
>t-they will put X monster because Y reasons right?
As they have shown a frickton of times already, no.
Nothing is sacred, nothing is a given, everything can happen
Then I can't wait for them to actually put money towards a good Monhun game for once. I meant like, what are their materials for and not the point of their entire existence.
Then I can't wait for them to actually put money towards a good Monhun game for once. I meant like, what are their materials for and not the point of their entire existence.
I don't get it, were you guys saying that shit too when you saw World boned weapons >lol no unique design, they didn't spend a lot on this game right? >they are probably getting ready for the next one
Dunno if you are the one that said "on a shoestring budget" or the one that said "hopefully they put money into a good MH game", but that doesn't change anything really
If you actually read the post shoestring anon replied to and my reply to him, you'd put two and two together to figure that I was just asking about Boggi and Gowngoat.
They said years ago that that was the result of an actual creative decision and not a budget/time/manpower constraint. Which is honestly even fricking dumber, the designers actually thought it was a cool idea and not fricking dogshit, and the art director and then the game director signed off on it. I never defended BONED and ORED weapon designs btw, I loved World but thought that was one of the worst ideas this series has ever had.
>creative decision
I sincerely hope you guys don't believe that just because they said it >we totally wanted em to look like that. Sure, some actually have they original design because...because yes, ok?????
They totally wanted but didn't have the time/budget.
he's one of the best monsters in the game with the caveat that you can be put into bullshit death situations with basically no way out at almost any time
I mean yes, that is obvious, but there's no real value in pointing that out
running around picking up birds until max health destroys the difficulty of the fun quests and lets you frick up over and over again due to wirefall
the thing people SHOULD be pointing out is the damage going through moxie which is because it's my lvl1 food skill and doesn't always proc
If you wanna be comfy, is there anything other than Malzeno chest and waist(I think its waist)? Im getting bored of doing max damage stuff and just wanna relax on some hunts.
Oh yeah. This is a general problem in Rise, not just armors, but they either cut things or reused a lot of assets. The flagship monster is based on Zinogre when you think about it.
At least we have different MR armors. God I was disappointed when I saw the HR armors.
I doubt that will happen, IIRC the reason they dropped gunner armour in the first place was because they thought it was a waste of resources creating twice as many armour sets that only 3 out of the 14 weapon types could use. They should have kept the gunner designs for the beta armours in World though, I don’t care that gunner armour as a feature/mechanic is gone but I do think it sucks to lose out on all those cool designs.
Anonymous
I mean, it's the same level of resources, but at least the gunner armor had a real use, compared to world "here, use that until the gacha give you the israeliteels to fill the good one"
Also as much as it's true that there are 3/14 ranged, there are many way to build em, like you can clearly see in Rise/SB that the devs have an hard time and we litterally have armor sets that are like "here 2 point in EVERY shot damage up skill ever, just use the one you need" and it's a bit sad.
Anonymous
Gunner hats often had same skills, but with less def and more points, AND you could wear those as blademaster, so those had a use.
I like it, its a little bit worse than Iceborne, and sometimes some Monsters have gained moves in MR that are extremely punishable. like so easy they should be a Low Rank move
World and IB to a lesser extent are my fav MonHun games by far, that being said I'll dearly miss SB combat, I fricking love zooming/jumping/countering all over the place, makes for such a fun fast paced combat. Everything else is just several steps back from every World improvement tho, buddying up with NPCs is kinda cool too.
It's okay
The additions are cool but the only 17 monsters meme is real. The game in general feels like the bare minimum for an expansion, a handful of new monsters, a handful of subspecies, a handful of returning monsters, and a grindy stat boosted mode to waste your time. Combined with removing Apexes and Rampage as flawed as they are and it feels like a sidegrade more than an upgrade.
It makes Rise a bit more tolerable but it's also not really finished either. I think there is some irony in that the games are more or less becoming what people actually thought Frontier was.
Every flagship after 3 has been cringe animeshit. 3 stayed just within the threshold, and gays that came after didn't understand that and just needed to keep upping the epicness
You are wrong lol
Steve exists
Nergi is basically Rex but elder dragon
Velk is not too different from other elders
Gore is egdy, but cool
Its a weird argument when rex lbg or any other joke weapon exists anyway
MH is better when its made fun through gameplay and its feel, grounding it and making it cinematic and serious is the worst mistake you can make
>3 stayed just within the threshold
If you mean third gen as a whole rather than just Tri then absolutely fricking not, Zinogre and Brachydios are still among the most ridiculous looking flagships to this day
Yes, but that's just because I like MH in general.
Comparing it to every other expansion in the series, its at the bottom for me. Still having loads of fun with it, but I hope that the next MH game doesn't feel as "barebones" in every regard other then just combat. Also bring back monsters fricking you up in one area, I'm sick of them either fricking off without doing shit or giving you a riding opportunity and THEN fricking off.
Not having to deal with the clutch claw horseshit that was made mandatory to deal good damage in IB makes SB a thousand times better baseline.
I still can't fricking believe they thought forcing that playstyle on everyone was a good idea.
>but anon, you don't like having to put your weapon away, switch to an ill fitting reticle to try to grapple a thrashing monster in the right spot, and even if you do, get immediately thrown off before you can do anything by a hip check?
Don't forget the god awful CC hitboxes where you would clearly grapple the head, but it would throw you onto the leg, back, or even tail. And then you would have to maneuver that shitty system of movement to get up to the head.
>Fighting some monster with friend >Friend finally gets to ride monster >Drags it halfway across the fricking map to slam into another monster so he can ride that monster and use it for damage
Its all so tiresome.
It's an upgrade from Rise, but still absolute trash entry.
I hate the fricking switch skills.
I hate the fricking wirebugs.
I hate those claustrophobic maps.
I hate arcade-tier combat.
I hate those SHIT graphics.
I hate spirit birds.
I HATE all the busy work I need to do in the hub every few missions.
I hate dangos.
I hate how trash co-op/SOS system in Rise is.
Yeah. Felt like a good addition to Rise, and I like that the anamoly hunts make shitmons challenging at endgame, so it's not just endless elder dragon grinding. Still not as good as GU, but a lot better than Iceborne.
>why promoted
Somebody was sniffing too much shoelace dust >why demoted
Because he is a shitter
Dont like fighting him, but he is easy and makes a decent early midgame hammer/gs set, his bits and pieces mixed with tobi and ingot lasted me till Gachaorgasm
>Already an overrated shitter in base Rise, nowhere near as threatening as the other monsters in that tier >Actually became even more of a shitter in Master Rank because it spends half the hunt with its face stuck in the floor

His armour was but the longsword description wasn’t. So he might just not have a longsword in this game. Also both the longsword descriptions and the armour index seem to be incomplete, so he could have a longsword but for whatever reason it was scrubbed and not the armour.
Before they added Seething to the roadmap, those silhouettes on update 2 were zoomed out and it was super obvious that the right one is Mizutsune. The left one is definitely Espinas though, it’s even in the same pose as Orange/Brown Espinas was in his official render from Frontier.
They do no damage at all, all the do is placing traps, healing you and wyvern riding
useful, a lot, but still no damage so it's basically like a cat with healing bubble, electric trap and frog barrage
What the frick
Hh feels wrong
Just another blunt weapon that you occassionally abc>fusion melody for free all songs
Nice nice.... 4 FRICKING SONGS? But why, who hurt someone so bad with it that this needed to happen?
Lbg and hbg dodge feels like aids, whoever added that charging mechanic needs to be shot
I need a drink
gore is incredibly spastic and spams "walking forward" lunges (the worst part of his old fight too) over and over in this game while shaggy lost his dumbass random mines in favor of much more fair, telegraphed attacks
charge master is dogshit, it maxes out at a 15% element bonus for 3 points. chain crit is amazing if you're playing elemental courage hammer. don't go whole hog elemental but pick up chain crit on your normal raw damage set with a good high element hammer and you're good to go
because chain crit gives both raw and element and is incredibly efficient for what it gives you.
Take a high element hammer like Almudron's with 74 water. Charge master would add 11.1 element. Chain crit adds 15 raw AND 8 element for the exact same cost. In practice it's even easier to slot because charge master is on garangolm armor and the general guy's set, both of which are pretty bad, while chain crit comes on furious rajang and final boss pieces with other good skills.
this set looks like it has low crit because it's operating off the assumption that you have a rousing roar cat for 30% crit and kushala soul gem for 15%
Think I gave the wrong impression but I'm nta and not asking about charge master. I'm not familiar with MR hammers but my general weapon knowledge tells me you sacrifice lots of raw for high element, so why wouldn't you use a high raw hammer that also has some element on it, rather than high element?
I haven't crunched the numbers myself. I'm mostly going off of what other people have said or told me, but courage hammer has an incredible amount of multihits especially when you upkeep the new silkbind buff so having a high element on your weapon is especially good when most monster heads are good elemental hitzones of 20 or more.

actually I forgot this set had frenzy on it, you don't need a rousing roar cat but keep the kushala gem in it
Think I gave the wrong impression but I'm nta and not asking about charge master. I'm not familiar with MR hammers but my general weapon knowledge tells me you sacrifice lots of raw for high element, so why wouldn't you use a high raw hammer that also has some element on it, rather than high element?
A lot of that is situational, there are some monsters where it's better to use high raw with low element and some where it's better to use low raw with high element if you really wanna be super optimal. That's why if you look at the speedrun weapons for stuff like SnS or SA they'd have multiple different weapons of the same element listed depending on the fight.
The best lance is the final boss lance, so you would run it raw but the playstyle doesn't change much, anything is viable
Spiral thrust spam, guard dash + leaping thrust, pokes, cross counter, charged sweep into shield tackle
Guard dash covers more distance, does no damage, strafes, can followup with shield swipe or leaping thrust for pretty good damage
Shield tackle is less range, does damage + stun, changes direction to input direction, followups are anything
I swap depending on monster; dash if they have a lot of openings or move a lot and tackle if they don't move much and have many fast hits (you'll be hitting them while you move through their attacks with tackle)
Does anyone else reflect on the difference between Iceborne's and Sunbreak's structure? I'm enjoying Sunbreak, and as I'm progressing through it I feel like I'm playing GU without gathering quests. There's very little pretense to gameplay, it's simply >do a few quests and sidequests >fulfill a few requests >urgent quest >receive new quests, sidequests, requests >repeat
There's no daily vouchers, no steamworks, no holidays (I miss holidays). There's no guiding lands-like experience where you have to grind monsters you don't want to grind to grind the monsters you want to grind. Monsters are behind HR and MR, and that's it.
This isn't a World vs. Rise thing, it's just interesting to me how hard World and Iceborne leaned into a "games as a live service" model, complete with features designed to generate daily engagement, while Rise and Sunbreak feel like they don't even care in comparison. The content's there if you want it (emergency quests, afflicted monsters, etc.) but the game doesn't pressure you to play.
World and Iceborne felt like the devs were deliberately trying to waste my time in a lot of cases. Rise has basically none of that and I hope to god that they don't revert to those design philosophies for the next major title.
>while Rise and Sunbreak feel like they don't even care in comparison
Can't do a live service MMO-esque game when the game is meant for a portable which doesn't always have connection to the net as opposed to a stationary machine.
Orion armor came back
Blossom armor came back
Gala anniversary armor came back
Diver armor came back
Harvest armor returned to being a bumblepumpkin set
We literally already have the Gala and Christmas armour from those games, as well as the Bloom set they just stole the design from Bnahabra for. Wait a few updates and you will 100% get the Demonlord armour for this Movie Monster themed game.
and also investigation quests. oh you wanna farm this fella? better hope you got lucky to get his quest!
i love both games and i feel like IB was still the superior expac (except crutch claw, that was the worst addition ive ever seen) but rise is way more comfy on the grinding and on the pick up and play aspect
this was also present in the last console game, right? Tri had real-time stuff too in Loc Lac versus the usual Portable way of treating content via downloads
Yeah rotating event quests were in 1, 1G, Dos, Tri, World and Iceborne. The handheld games didn’t do this because of technical limitations, and Rise didn’t because of how hated it was when it returned in World.
I wouldn't bank on mh6 being a home console focused game tbqh
Ps5 has flopped completely in Japan and Xbox still doesn't exist there. It's equally unlike to release a crossgen ps4/5 game in 2024
Will either be pc focused, or more likely cross platform including the Switch
High chance it'll be an Xbox release since Microshaft recognizes the opportune environment for it in Japan, like you said and also because Sony officially became a western company, and has already been capitalizing on it. They've dropped dosh for exclusive deals before (Idolm@ster, Lost Odyssey/Blue Dragon) and now is the only time it seems to make sense to actually do that given the current environment.
Capcom doesn't really give much of a shit about Japan at this point, all their other games are full focused on the west like Resident Evil and Street Fighter. MH6 on Switch isn't happening, even as a port.

I dont think mh6 will be on switch but they will definitely release portable 6 on switch as is tradition
Seems like thats the cycle we'll be going on for now, which I'm fine with

And on PC, as is tradition. Because China doesn't buy Switch. Sad but it's the truth presented at a board level meeting at Capcom
Switch has the online capacity to handle rotating event quests, so not having them when in the past the portable games didn’t have them because of limitations is more of an active decision this time around than just necessity.
Funny that you have to download stuff like event quests in RIse anyway. Or the fricking expansion itself which they don't include on the fricking cart.
As much as I think World and IB is just a better game the live service elements I despised more than anything else. They felt so out of place I suspected some suits force them to add them.
As much as I despise the talisman grind it is far more tolerable and not as essential to building your character as the deco grind. I was a lance main (frick me) and only got a guard up deco for the first time after the games lifespan was already over. I had to meld it.
I would be happy if these returned but event quests themselves were permanent additions like in the handheld games. Just double the rewards for event quests during festivals if they think having them available permanently will hurt engagement, as add new event quests more regularly. Problem solved.
>no daily vouchers, no steamworks, no holidays
good riddance. I don't need busywork.
Events were 50/50. Some were cool and you enjoyed the change and for others you just hoped for it to be over so the lobby could return to normal. >no guiding lands-like experience
That's my main gripe. All i want is something other than a long list of quests. I want to have some form of randomized endgame content where you can actually just go out and hunt without thinking about it
No, id rather have quests and fun hunts
GL were a fricking busywork galore
I dont want to diddle girroses to level zone a while delevelling zones b c and d
It was shit
Id you want something like that id rather have something like GQs
No levelling? >want to hunt monster a >it wont spawn >EAT A GIRROS INSTEAD LOL
Or, even better >nu GL experience >no levels, nothing >but you spent all of your luck allowance on the Valstrax mantles, so everything in the nu-GL is Almudron >even grass, even sun, even almighty Allah is Almudron now
As much as I like Sunbreak, I fricking hate that the devs felt need to give every damn monster either a charge, a backhop or both. It feels like 70% of the hunt I'm just running after a monster that jumped or charged to other side of the area.
full Bazel with Garangolm CB has a shitload of slots and literally every Impact Phial CB skill you need if you're just going for Axe Hopper spam.
Slot in Attack Boost 4 + Wirebug Whisperer or whatever with a decent talisman and you're good to go.
>be lance >spending the entirety of rise and sunbreak only allowed to have blue sharpness, a sliver at white at most. >Abyssal Icicle >numbers basically double
I finally remember why they limit our power bros.
God I fricking hate playing online now, especially with GS. I also don't understand how people do the follower quests and use cats/dogs with any weapon which needs the monster to have constant aggro on you to be most effective.
Unless you just mash rage slash and strongarm whenever an attack grazes you, but even then it sucks balls.
I am not even sure Followers can hold aggro for more than 1 attack since I'm constantly the target of Monster attacks even when I don't do anything, but no weapon "needs" aggro even if it performs better with it.
So I'm new to this franchise, and after playing for a few weeks I looked up a weapon tier list for the first time and saw that my beloved Gunlance is apparently bottom of the bottom tier.
I'm not gonna change my weapon but I did wanna ask one question: do people groan when they see a Gunlancer? I'm not sure what I could do to prove peoples' preconceptions wrong other than not die but I was curious about what other people think of this class when they're in a serious hunt.
There are tier prostitutes and metaBlack folk in most any multiplayer game. I dont think most people will care what weapon you use as long as you dont die or bother them with your swings.
In Gunlance's case it got a shiny new silkbind move that is very powerful and people love to spam it. However it knocks everyone in the area away.
If you want GL hate that's how you'll get it.
No, every weapon is viable for regular play. When people talk about weapon viability in Monster Hunter they’re talking about speedrun times basically, which only a minuscule amount of players actually care about. People form all sorts of biases and opinions towards users of certain weapons just from their experiences, but no one except a complete and total homosexualmaster will actually get mad about you not using perfect speedrun sets. So you’re fine, no need to adapt your current behaviour in co-op at all.
Rise is easy enough that every weapon is viable and will easily get sub-8 minute hunts with unoptimal comfort builds. If your weapon is truly low tier garbage you *will* feel it, assuming you dont poison yourself with the opinions of others.
Hunting horn? more like FUNting horn, change stun resist with def boost 7 since that anon said that i will get carted because i choose stun resistance 3 instead of def
Is the weapon tree still unfinished? Im in MR 5 trying to figure out what ele weapons to build and the trees i see online end with what i currently see
>finish quest with randos really quickly >check other player's statuses >they all have 470-ish attack >check mine >350
wtf I'm using the final boss weapon man
That's me. Dereliction + resentment from gorm armor. Actually I don't hit 500 unless I use all item buffs and bow's +30ish raw wirebug so they probably have attack up or chaincrit too or something (otherwise cheaters)
>Blame worldbabs
You freaks are so mentally ill it isn't even funny. Because yeah, obviously World is the reason PCgays cheat and not any trait inherent to PCgays. Fricking have a nice day you god damn loser.
+8 on a fast hitting weapon like DB isn't that bad, considering it would still be +3 on a weakzone, and with an attack usually hitting for around 16 it's nearly a 20% increase
if you could somehow fit the blessings and chain crit 3, maybe since you could push 100 ele on some weapons, but even then you're probably better off using derelection sets
It always occurs on the part you hit it with. Also if you're the same autist from yesterday just hunt the monster and stop wasting your time with part breaker and trying to find the optimal part breaks
Any advice on building a status LBG?
I remember it being a fun thing to do in rando mp hunts in 4u and 3u
Mostly interested in para and poison because randos
Thought about dog gun, but the position of the supposed trigger bothers me more than it should
Is Espinas lbg okay? Bishiten?
Dont see many RF options.
You're probably going to have to wank a dog, RF on all status is just too useful in terms of ammo conservation and overall status application.
Cham LBG is an option as well, but dog gun also has decent sticky, so you can rob hammer and HH of their KOs as well.
I'm starting with DB and I feel I should be using the evade counter and silkshine a lot, but I just run around doing aerial stuff into the super spin thing.
It works well enough but I really feel I should be using the other two.
Shrouded Vault has become my panic button.
Roar? Shrouded Vault. Big-ass attack? Shrouded Vault. Can't see the monster for whatever reason? Shrouded Vault.
Yeah, though you also need to hunt in multiplayer to get those. Wasn't IB's equivalent a bit more liberal, especially during events?
I think you could get them in MHFU by doing the double Furious Rajang in the arena event, but otherwise you're right. You had to play a lot with people whose guild card's you've gotten to get your unity up.
World was indeed way, way more liberal with them. Still only ever used 1 in World, for a Zorah gem.
>but I just run around doing aerial stuff into the super spin thing
It's just fun to do aerial with DB
Anyway, consider the evade counter like "i'm slightly away and the monster is roaring, better evade into it and get ready to jump again"
So i had this little thought
Monster Hunter 6 comes.
They have added swappable skills but have removed wirebugs. No more wirebug spam. But yes you can swap certain moves from your basekit to something else.
Would it be a decent addition to Monster Hunter?
Because i really like the idea of swapping your moveset around but i fricking hate the wirebug ""meta""
At some point you end up with too much moveset bloat.
Adding more moves to SnS wouldnt work.
I would love to see experimental moveset swap. Like removing backhop for something else.
Its either that or a new weapon.
I really want a new weapon in monster hunter.
>merge the bowguns
I'd only be fine with that if they added back bowgun part customization and allowed you to make your own light, medium or heavy one.
Sounds good to me, they're already pretty modular.
While they're at it they should let us pick phial types on CB and SA, and shelling type on GL

>picking phial types for CB
Would be literally broken with status CB. Element phials on para or sleep CB would be beyond busted.

>While they're at it they should let us pick phial types on CB and SA, and shelling type on GL
The whole point about picking a weapon is to choose that anon
they may as well let you decide raw and element and make all the weapons just skins lol

Seems a better solution that half the weapons just being useless because they have the wrong phial or shelling type.
Anonymous
>we could solve the element being shit problem >nah, let's just allow the player to use the only type of weapon worth using
Half the weapon will always be useless simply because once one is slightly better, then other are just straight up worse.
You can't solve that. They solved it mostly with SB with all the weapons getting to rank10
For example, Jyura GS is top tier

I thought about this too. They added a lot of cool stuff with switch skills, like GS combo, Hammer 'valor', Lance adept block, GL block reload, and I don't see any of those working on a single expanded moveset, would feel awful imo.
They should keep this instead of styles and remove wirebug, claw, wyvern riding and other intrusive stuff they try to force in new games.
I'm fine with endemic life as well, I never felt forced to grab any of the spiders or toads but its always nice when you find one on your way to the monster.
I talked about this with a friend a while back when we were playing before Sunbreak. We both came to the conclusion that having skill swaps to chanage out certain intricacies of a weapon would be fun to have and also what others would be running on their own weapons.
I honestly can't imagine playing lance without the shield tackle anymore or switch axe without the overhead slash.
This webm makes for a good use case for Earplugs but at the same time shit is way too expensive in both World and Rise. Miss these skills generally being a lot more relevant.
Your biggest attach is going to be impact crater, which double bonks is around 900 each for 1800 with the right build. Most of the time you’re going to using charge attacks.
>gave GS not just a counter to negate damage, and not just a counter that combos straight into TCS, but a counter that charges straight into TCS AND gives a 30% damage boost
What were they thinking
>gave GS not just a counter to negate damage, and not just a counter that combos straight into TCS, but a counter that charges straight into TCS AND gives a 30% damage boost
What were they thinking
To be fair, that counter is hard to pull off on a lot of monsters when you're not blowing yourself up to activate. So many of those frickers have multi hit attacks, lingering hitboxes, and attacks that move them through to behind you. You actually need to have attack patterns down to pull it off reliably.
Every time I do join requests for the A*4 monsters people just rush to the monster without picking up any spiribirds and get one shot. I just want these quests over with and soloing takes so long for me. Stop tripple carting before the 5 minute mark please
AB7, resetnment 4, heroic 4, dereliction 3 HP 1% demon mode one hit deal 60 damage
AB7, CE7, WEX3, CB3 demon mode one hit deal 62 damage
convince me to use AB7, resentment 4, heroic 4, dereliction 3
Combo loops or ZSDs. Try forward overhead slash, double morph slash, triple slash, double morph slash, repeat. Once you know what you're doing you can mix in fade slashes to reposition, ZSD to extend an opening, and so on.
It's crazy how fun Chameleos is now. Teo is actually kind of fun to.
Yet Kush remains an irredeemably miserable fight.
>doing Afflicted Almudron with randos
>It's zooming all over the fricking place
>Everything but the tail and the head is a shitzone so we can barely break the cores on the legs and arms
>Sometimes he hides the legs undermud so you can't even hit him
>mfw
I fricking hated it, I'm surprised nobody even carted tho.
Kush is pretty fun in Rise, no idea what you're talking about, the lack of a constant wind aura pushing you away improves the monster significantly.
>Went into Afflicted Almudron after being condemned with 40+ MR Almudron runs trying to get a fricking mantle
Genuinely helped with understanding his openings, but man he's still obnoxious. Please no scatmon in the next game.
Kush was fun in Rise, but he's back to being an annoying c**t in Sunbreak
>roars every other second
>constantly jumps to the otherside of the arena like he's Barioth or some shit and spams projectiles and tornadoes
>still has one of the worst downed animations in the game
The other two are great though.
I do agree that Kushala is more jumpy in Sunbreak compared to base Rise but I still had quite a lot of fun, besides, he's still made out of paper, i do agree on the downed animation however, trying to Perfect Rush it is a waste of time yet I still try it everytime.
I did find MR Kushala far more fun that MR Teo honestly, can't speak for MR Chammy since I haven't done him yet.
mr chameleos is a fricking Black person. i die every single time to the double body slam since i play gs with rage slash and greed, or am stuck on the recovery
Kush is actually pretty fun now. Who would have thought having him actually on the ground would have made him not insufferable.
roar spam... SOVL...
God damn I forgot how fricking ugly world was in a stylistic sense
It's so busy and washed out
You have no idea how fricking hyped that made me for RISE. it's sad because despite GU-like cooldown ability garbage from wireshit, I'm still much happier with the game than World just from the (traditional colorful) artistic direction and map design isn't cancerous.
>knows MHW monsters love to spam roars
>refuse to slot in earplugs
Autism
>using crutches like earplugs to beat monsters.
You didnt win.
>using earplugs
Just counter every roar for a billion damage bro lmao
>slotting earplugs in world and rise
Good fricking luck
Is it just me or was Teo in MR one of the fastest monsters I've ever seen? Heck, I could track Steve easier.
i always hated chameleos cause i hate invisible enemies. i like kush now. you can slap him out of the sky pretty easy now.
Kush would be fine if he didnt leave the area every three fricking minutes
Are you from some alternate universe or some shit? Kush is the only one of the 3 that didn't get 10 times more obnoxious and unfun to fight.
I just fought what turned out to be a giant gold crown Chameleos and that was the most unpleasant monster hunter experience of my life.
Could not hit his head or tail or any non-shitzone at all.
Was this really the case back then? Because we wasnt merely that hard when i played it on emulator.
Why the frick are so many former flagships a lot bigger now
There’s less and less “big” relases these days because of dev costs that are actually games and not “cinematic” garbo. So people gravitate towards the series that did survive the culling.
>Monsters finally have enough speed/distance covered to punish HBG (not LBG or Bow sadly)
>A bunch of different ways to shoot depending on monster so you can mix things up
>HBG wirebug counters don't protect from multi hit attacks, or rather the ensuing long ass animation guarantees a hit if there's more than one
>Wirebug slide skill makes you feel cool when you dodge with it
>Melee Attack switch skill acts as a handy GP
>Healing Mech WyvernSnipe/Heart gives you a built in way to heal HP loss, but at a huge time sink and with actual potential to get hit
Dereliction HBG without dabbling in the HAME stunlock bullshit is really fun. I just wish the new Switchskills weren't solely "have more DPS" and instead focused on actually altering gameplay.
I am a GS/Hammer guy but frick me I grew to love HBG so much.
>LR/HR mission unlocks, it'll tell you which is HBG
>Craft a certain amount of a weapon to get the relevant one from Utsushi
>MR1 you get 2 for free
>MR3-4 just before Astalos Urgent gives you 2 more
HBG only has a relatively short sliding wirebug skill, it's mostly used for moving into Pierce position sort of use.
Bow only works in Afflicted because of dodgebolt. No idea how guntrannies fair
Your bow is not exempt.
>journey from low rank to high rank with all these monsters to fight
>okay now go from high rank to master rank fighting all those monsters you already fought again but they're a little harder
>now you've unlocked master rank afflicted quests! are you ready to go through the whole game a 3rd time fighting all the monster you already fought once gain but now they're even harder?!
yeah no, this endgame is fricking stupid.
Get filtered, son.
There were fewer new monsters in High Rank than there are in Master Rank
you mean """"""""new"""""""" monsters
>go from fighting monsters in the 1st rank
>to fighting the same monsters with a few extra in the 2nd
>and then the same monsters as the 2nd rank again, with a few extra in the 3rd again
>and finally, fight the same monsters as the 3rd rank again but slightly stronger and in the same rank. Also with a few extras
Yes, anon. This is all MH has ever been, repeated fights and lazy developers.
Congratulations, you figured out how Monster Hunter works
>plays Monster Hunter™
>complains about having to hunt monsters
>Rise was the side game
>Next MH is main line
>They go back to appealing to America again via dragons and dinosaurs
>Also slabs of metal with a bit of the monster you just fought at the hilt
Start making sense
I really hope they go back to the World wep designs. It makes much more sense, I hate all these realistic glowy weeabo weps. I was so sad when I finally got Zinogre weps in Rise and it looked so different to world.
>mfw 548 damage counter morph elemental phial on narga's arm
>should we port the apexes to g rank?
>or just remove them so people won't bother us aboout armor lmao
I think it's pretty likely they'll do exactly that with armours this time in MR, even if they're not the deviants themselves or their equipment. Just a similar fight to Soulseer and a new/returning gunner Mizu armour, for example.
It's easy as frick to do, earns them a lot of brownie points and the fanbase will 100% forgive them with that and then some.
Your naivety is endearing
It's not naive to assume that a company might put the least amount of effort possible in to make a change to something they were originally lazy with if their playerbase has had a huge issue with it. They'll put in slightly more effort this time and get really good press for listening to the players despite not deserving it, this isn't the old days where you could just pretend they don't exist. A massive portion of your advertising is online/social networking based and most major advertisements directly target consumers nowadays.
they don't need to put in any effort at all so why bother?
I just explained why it's possible they might. If the complaint of deviants without unique rewards actually reached Japan, then that's the incentive to do it right there. Your product can unironically live or die based on viral happenings, and most companies would fricking kill for a notable content creator or influencer *spits on the floor* to plug their product since the old ways of advertising barely reaches their market.
If it involved a lot of work to do it I'd be skeptical too, but it's not like they have to put much effort in.
>slightly change existing Monster models to look more like Deviants, or just don't even change them and call them something else
>model a few armour sets for each, don't even have to design them since Deviant sets or Gunner armours already exist.
Obviously this game isn't riding on the same hype wave, but the work needed here is also barely even anything at all.
>they'll put in effort for good PR!
You do know you're talking about Monster Hunter Sunbreak here, yeah?
For bahari's eyes only
I really wish the melding wasn't so garbage. I put in multiple full orders and I get 100% garbage. If I'm lucky I might get one with 2 level 2 slots but that's rare as frick and will always come with terrible skills. I don't know how they made this so awful.
Did you unlock the MR melding already? Those give better skills and slots
Not him, but I just unlocked MR4 after beating Lunagaron and still have no MR melding nor the other switch skills, did I missed some hidden quests or what
you unlock it after the credits, not gonna spoil when they happen but you still have a bit to go
Anon, at this point everyone know about Gaismagolm
But wait, I need to beat the final boss to unlock the other switch skills too????
wtf were they thinking
Nah, switch skills unlock midway through
Switch skills unlock midway through mr4 because... because.
Well don’t be sad. You didn’t realize how much you loved wiener till you were older, right?
They could have totally gave a new set earlier and the final set mid MR4, wtf
How do you cut tails as Gunlance?
poke it
Can I shell to damage it and poke at the last hit?
no
Why not?
slash damage only
does spinny wyvernstake count as slash?
poke or slam but dont burst or shell, the tip of the gunlance is the cutting part.
>there's gonna be a Mizu sub!
>It's gonna be fire!
I have yet to see any proof of this, but I keep hearing it.
There's obviously going to be a Mizu variant of some kind simply because one of the silhouettes on the second panel of the roadmap is very obviously Mizu (with the other being Espinas).
No idea where people are getting the fire thing from though.
Gonna be funny when it's not Mizu.
But it’s quite clearly Mizutsune? Plus there’s a datamined Mizutsune recolour, adding two and two together doesnt leave much room for interpretation.
Could just be soulseer
"Deviants return!"
They would have said that instead of subspecies and rare species of that was the case. That’s also the only update that doesn’t add variants or “special species” of any sort, just subs and rares. Also if they were going to bring back deviants it would be more than just one or two of them and they would shill the frick out of it as a feature in a base game or expansion, not tucked away in random update with zero mention of it.
>with the other being Espinas
what was the espinas variation in frontier again?
I have vague memory of poisoned legs but im not sure.
>Subspecies
Charges up a large fireball, flies up and then releases it. Sometimes it comes out faster, but flashes with a tell.
>Rare species
Spits out DOT shit across the arena. In one quest, has a combination attack with the former with the two colliding into each other.
I'm hoping they do something more interesting with it in this game
>Regular Espinas is shown hunting status toads in Sunbreak to explain why it has its poison and paralysis abilities
>Subspecies Espinas completely replaces those two statuses with blast and sleep to match the other two toad types
Subspecies before third gen were just stronger versions of the existing monster. From third gen onwards they get new elements and appear in different maps, while variants take over the role of being “the same monster but stronger”. Rare species are endgame level versions of a monster that you fight in an arena or locked to a single zone, kinda like a siege fight.
Then...make a named subspecies?
the whole system is so stupid anyway
Like, let's be honest, subspecies are basically "the fist sub the monster get" and rare species are "the second sub a monster get"
The only case of this not happening is in frontier, where a lot of strange shit happen
About variant, in the new system were subspecies are usually quite different for the element they use, Variant are just the same monster but stronger for some reason
You could say that both subs/rare are genetic aberration of that monster that happen after a lot of generation of breeding.
Meanwhile, variant could totally happen in the same gen as the base species.
Maybe they are always enraged, maybe they lost some body part etc...
I mean they did completely overhaul everything about Lunastra and also retroactively added blast status to a lot of monsters
>blast timebomb ticking while you are slowly falling asleep, just to wake up to the explosion
>all of this while burning
Calm down stan
Chug your energy drink and start rollin'
Go back to Monster hunter 1 so you can spend 75% of 40 minutes chasing Rathalos around and drinking your upkeep juice so the level doesn't burn you death.
>so you can spend 75% of 40 minutes chasing Rathalos around and drinking your upkeep juice so the level doesn't burn you death.
Soul...
will Wyrmstake boost still take effect if a gunlances shelling level is already lv.8?
Why don't you try it?
>sacrifice one AB for 5 water attack
hope it's worth it
Mud slicer have 280 attack,59 water and 0 crit
You have to take into account the MVs for Raw and Elemental, and DBs usually have good Elemental MVs compared to Raw.
I'm an idiot, I forgot indeed the bigger part
most of DB MV are about 10/15% so it's actually 1 raw lose at best vs 5 more damage.
Considering the 280 raw * 0.48 * 0.12 is about 16 damage, that 4 more is a good boost indeed
picking up gs, what should I know about it
is the final boss gs good to start with or should I not commit a mantle
Make the Royal Order GS its cheaper and probably better in most situations
gs is the best for gaisma tree but you should get the kamura gs first to see if you like it
your attacks are slow as shit, but are great for punishing, abuse your tackle super armor and practice your TCS (True Charge Slash) so you dont whiff your swings and end up looking like a total loser.
>Hit MR 100 and killed the new flavor of brapcat
Welp, time to put MH back on the shelf. Getting everything you want is just too easy now, I have two cats stealing shit, wyvern riding can give you like 6 drops, good luck gives you another 4 sometimes. Maybe I'll just autistically grind for decos or somethiny.
>use literally everything at your disposal to get shit more easily
>"i hate that i get shit too easily"
I don't understand
uhhhh you should take 7 min to find the monster then another 20 to kill it and you should only have a one-time 1% chance to get a mantle for the whole half hour and you should repeat that 20 times to get one mantle and you should do that 5 times to get mantles for weapons and armors you want to make
that’s the TRUE monster hunter experience
Yes.
Wyvern riding is pretty mandatory, i guess you could just launch the monster but arbitrarily doing that is like pokemon levels of cope where shills say that you can just nuzlocke for a harder game
t. Gachacuck nonHOONTerchad
If bubbleblight also provides evade distance then I can also forego a level of EE.
only i-frames iirc
pair it with bloodlust + coalescence
When do I unlock HR/LR layered armor? I want to use the mizutsune set forever.
HR unlock so after Narwa
after hr plot
>once again have to beat the game to look good
God I hate this, at least LR armor should've been unlocked at the end of LR, at least gives me a reason to go back and dunk on the unfinished LR quests with HR gear.
You just know.
I doubt these will add much of anything though, the game’s support cycle will be rounding down by then if the last few MH games are anything to go off.
what's the difference between subspecies and rare species
In lore, not much, rare species are just stronger and rarer than subspecies. In gameplay, rare species work like arena fights even if you don’t fight them in an actual arena, they stay in one zone and will never go to sleep. They’re also a lot bigger than the normal species and subspecies, and strength wise they’re on par with elder dragons and other endgame monsters. Shit like the metal Raths, Lucent Nargacuga, Abyssal Lagiacrus, and so on.
>there were no other variants datamined so that proves the datamines were incomplete
Wasn't Chaotic Gore in there somewhere or am I getting confused?
I don’t recall, he wasn’t in the longsword weapon description datamine which is the main one people are citing, but that could just mean he doesn’t have a longsword.
He was in the armor datamine from the demo, which we know is legit because it had all the new skills added to Sunbreak in it before we knew about them on the release date, but he wasn't in the weapon description datamine from the full game, so it could go either way.
I would be really surpised if they dont put in chaotic gore
They basically have to. Shagaru is missing his double wingarm slam into super slam and is basically just a GS tutorial in this game. Chaotic was designed to specifically shit on most of Shagaru's GS openings in 4U and I suspect they're going to do the same thing when he's added.
TU2 is 100% getting Stygian Zinogre.
"Rare species" are more afflicted Tiers, new A* with Luna on August and another with Malzeno on Fall.
Rare species have been a thing since MHG on PS2, you dope of a larper.
Yeah just like how Apex where a thing and then on Rise they are a whole different thing you fricking tard.
Except Rare Species have been consistent across every game so far and the Apex thing in Rise was the result of a mistranslation, you fricking mong.
Historically speaking if it's not in the datamine it's not gonna be added. And historically speaking too the later updates are just collab quests. Realistically speaking we are only looking at 7 monsters that were datamined.
I think that's just because Rise launched unfinished with the rest of the game moved to title updates
The guy who directed Iceborne quit
Yeah but the rest of the team is monster the same, they have a new director but their general workflow and pipeline won’t have changed that much.
Black person they're not the same. Fujioka is not there too. All the bigwigs are working on MH6.
>carted to a Bnahabara while mining because I wasn't paying attention to Dereliction HP drain

>have to beat HR monsters for useful decos
>and some of them need a low drop rate
who greenlighted this shit?
Me.
The same guy who said no crosssaves.
oh no, 3 minutes hunts to get materials, the horror
also wtf you had way too much time to get the materials
going from "hurr durr there is nothing to do" to "uh actually there was something to do but I didn't care so I need to do it now when it's less fun"
What about people that just bought the game, moron?
Stop defending trash game design.
Then stop rushing through the game.
NTA, but to be fair that's how drop rates have always worked.
I hope that the crabs get an endgame sub/variant, I want more endgame variety.
a big, long and tall variant
I know but Shen is a literal never ever
Honestly, the Rampage areas and installations could work really well for a siege fight, but since the last siege fight was fricking Zorah Magdaros I would be perfectly happy if they never touch them again. And Shen Gaoren is too tall for any sort of normal fight, even with wirebugs.
What if infinite wirebugs just for the fight
So you can get up there lol
Zorah was cool, why everyone hate
though I also like Mohran and Dalamadur so I may be biased
>running around doing chores and hitting dildos was cool
Zorah took way too long, had too much waiting and the part where you traverse its back sucks, especially when compared to the Mohrans.
It was the worst big monster fight by a mile, IMO, somehow managing to beat even MHFU Lao Shan and that one Shen Gaoren you fight in Lao's area.
It didn't even feel impressive the first time you fight it, never mind the nth time for when you need a goddamn gem.
was cool, why everyone hate
>Hit pimples
>Wait five minutes, maybe beat up Nerg if he hasn't already fricked off
>Load cannons
>Fire Dragonator (or not if you don't want to listen to Proof Of A Hero played by the Symphonic Brap Orchestra)
>Maybe load cannons again
>"Quest Complete!"
It was fricking shit
Shen Gaoren
let me fight a lobster
We need more crustacean monsters, getting the Akura's from frontier would be a good start.
Being denied MR apex is such a bitter slight by the devs, no rustrazor or the Damiyo version.
I miss Rathalos world tour
Quick question on for World, do Bonus Vouchers count for all teammates or just yourself?
I swear vouchers work for everyone.
Nevermind they don't according to wiki
>Lucky Voucher effects are NOT shared between every party member.
https://monsterhunterworld.wiki.fextralife.com/Lucky+Voucher
Only vip/gourmet voucher works for all
i'm tired with everyone being okay with monster hunter being severe grindfest, i'm sick of spending all day farming for rare parts and talismans and getting nothing in return.
Then...don't farm all day? There has never been a reason for grinding other than MR for unlocks. You don't need a perfect build, infact you don't even need a build to begin with.
Honestly a game like MonHun needs some sort of fail safe or something
>trade X amount of monster parts for a mantle/gem
>destroy X number of decos to make the one you want
>you need a thousando points
>each part/deco has different value when you trade it in
Or you know just bump up the percentage.
this is why i really liked the melding pot in World where you could just toss in a ticket and get a gem out, i didnt even mind that the tickets were very limited and hard to come by, it was a always a good trade when you got to spend them on a rare part for a monster you hate fighting.
You're playing the game, there doesn't need do be anything else as a "return". If you don't have fun just stop playing, it's not a job.
>Severe grindfest
>Rise
Don't play the old games, you'd have a panic attack. Alternatively, download a mod to cheat it in as your "pity" system.
Just save edit your talisman bro.
It's monster hunter not talisman farmer
Did the update change anything about skills like Dereliction? I feel like I have about 20 less attack than before, but I haven't played in a week.
am i the only one that actually enjoys magmadron? im convinced its because it feels like hes 2x smaller than almudron and he isnt constantly in mud/water or whatever spazzing the frick out, way easier to actually tell what magmadron is gonna do which makes it fun.
Actually has decent hitzones when he's heated up so he's less shit.
He still wastes your time moving around a ton, that move where he dives in and out of the ground all over the zone in particular is just a massive time waster that isn't even dangerous
So theres no fricking way theyre not gonna put amatsu in the nippon monhun game right?
>t-they will put X monster because Y reasons right?
As they have shown a frickton of times already, no.
Nothing is sacred, nothing is a given, everything can happen
>add cool Boggi and Gowngoat small monsters
>don't give them any comfy Moofah style or Great Jaggi-esque equipment
What is the point of these two?
Sunbreak seems to have been produced on a shoestring budget.
Then I can't wait for them to actually put money towards a good Monhun game for once.
I meant like, what are their materials for and not the point of their entire existence.
I don't get it, were you guys saying that shit too when you saw World boned weapons
>lol no unique design, they didn't spend a lot on this game right?
>they are probably getting ready for the next one
Kindly don't include my reply in your post, I have nothing to do with this topic.
The art director and executive director for World is the same person; Fujioka.
Glad he learned his lesson.
What lesson? He's Fujioka. He created the series
>creative decision
I sincerely hope you guys don't believe that just because they said it
>we totally wanted em to look like that. Sure, some actually have they original design because...because yes, ok?????
They totally wanted but didn't have the time/budget.
I was honestly expecting both, I'm loving SB but that was quite disappointing
Garam Masala
this fricking cat, man
captcha: 4KOTN
Died in the same exact way earlier, I hate him less the more I fight him but god damn does he have some bullshit moves
he's one of the best monsters in the game with the caveat that you can be put into bullshit death situations with basically no way out at almost any time
>that life and stamina
>taking that long to dodge
You weren't even trying.
You staged it to make a cool "le MHRise is hard" webm
wtf is wrong with my life and stamina
NTA, but you wouldn't have fainted if you had more health.
I mean yes, that is obvious, but there's no real value in pointing that out
running around picking up birds until max health destroys the difficulty of the fun quests and lets you frick up over and over again due to wirefall
the thing people SHOULD be pointing out is the damage going through moxie which is because it's my lvl1 food skill and doesn't always proc
>you wouldn't have fainted if you didn't faint
Yeah?
Yeah
>that life and stamina
Wait, what's wrong with that? You don't actually expect people to collect all the birds, do you?
Care to not cut youself with all that edge anon
No wonder this Magnamalo is scorned, he’s a fricking c**t!
If you wanna be comfy, is there anything other than Malzeno chest and waist(I think its waist)? Im getting bored of doing max damage stuff and just wanna relax on some hunts.
Blood Rite is very strong with even 1 point you can full hp with a few attacks.
The other option is 2 piece Kush for its blessing
either of these will make you not use potions ever again
how many hit it take to fill full hp from 1% with blood rite 1?
I wish we got world monster subs in Sunbreak, I liked Viper Tobi and Fulgur Anjanath.
tobi already has viper moves
>capture Bagel
>get handler outfit
t-thanks
At least Mushroomancer and Speed Eating are fitting.
nice steam achievements
>getting filtered by one of the monsters with some of the most telegraphed moves in the series
sounds like a skill issue.
so in the end did you like sunbreak?
yes
I'd like it more if Valstrax would drop some fricking mantles.
Yup.
I enjoy playing it, unlike IB, even if I b***h about it daily.
Shame that armors were slashed.
>slashed armors
What do you mean?
No armor variants (alpha/beta or melee/ranged) on a single mon
Thats a base Rise problem, though
Oh yeah. This is a general problem in Rise, not just armors, but they either cut things or reused a lot of assets. The flagship monster is based on Zinogre when you think about it.
At least we have different MR armors. God I was disappointed when I saw the HR armors.
I hope this stays a Rise only thing and we go back to 2 per monster next game
Yeah, getting back ranged armors would be cool
I doubt that will happen, IIRC the reason they dropped gunner armour in the first place was because they thought it was a waste of resources creating twice as many armour sets that only 3 out of the 14 weapon types could use. They should have kept the gunner designs for the beta armours in World though, I don’t care that gunner armour as a feature/mechanic is gone but I do think it sucks to lose out on all those cool designs.
The second best for actual new monsters added anon, that must still be worth something
MH is better when its made fun through gameplay and its feel, grounding it and making it cinematic and serious is the worst mistake you can make
Good, boring shit can stay on the PS2.
>3 stayed just within the threshold
If you mean third gen as a whole rather than just Tri then absolutely fricking not, Zinogre and Brachydios are still among the most ridiculous looking flagships to this day
Yes. Thank god they fixed Lance.
Yes. Not as much as Iceborne but it’s still one of the best G Rank expansions to date. We’ll see how it stacks up once all the updates are out though.
No, I don't, frick off Capcom
Don't forget the god awful CC hitboxes where you would clearly grapple the head, but it would throw you onto the leg, back, or even tail. And then you would have to maneuver that shitty system of movement to get up to the head.
And you had to do it twice with "light" weapons
>bitches about clutch claw
>no b***hing about wyvern riding
every fricking time
>reminder wyvern riding is the evolution of the clutch claw
>Fighting some monster with friend
>Friend finally gets to ride monster
>Drags it halfway across the fricking map to slam into another monster so he can ride that monster and use it for damage
Its all so tiresome.
>an optional gimmick vs a mandatory gameplay requirement in a game that's supposed to be about offering you multiple varied ways to play
/v/tards please learn the difference
Disable ride on hit
Now you have another opening to cave the mons face in
It's an upgrade from Rise, but still absolute trash entry.
MH6 can't come soon enough.
If you couldn't tell by the direction the series has been going in for some time now, you're in for one hell of a rude awakening.
I like it much more than base Rise. I pretty much brought the game from a "meh" to "really fun" for me.
Yeah. Felt like a good addition to Rise, and I like that the anamoly hunts make shitmons challenging at endgame, so it's not just endless elder dragon grinding. Still not as good as GU, but a lot better than Iceborne.
>make shitmons challenging at endgame,
If only, shitmons are still huge shitmons, but now you need to farm them for materials.
Got Fatalis to 59000/65000 hp, making progress
Almost there bro. What weapon you using?
Dual Blades
How did you know its health
https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/142?tab=posts
Whats the deal with destroyer oil?
I can't notice any difference
The deal is that it basically makes no difference. Ignore it.

>Got demoted back to shitter status in Sunbreak
But why?
Did you really need to ask?
>Goss Harag was end game tier for base Rise
>Gets demoted to shitter tier with the likes of Anjanath
That's the real mystery.
I thought goss would get some electric subspecies to resemble frankenstein but instead we got a monkey which im also fine with
>a shitter goes down to the tier he actually belongs in
Makes sense to me.
Yes, but enough about your life story.
>why promoted
Somebody was sniffing too much shoelace dust
>why demoted
Because he is a shitter
Dont like fighting him, but he is easy and makes a decent early midgame hammer/gs set, his bits and pieces mixed with tobi and ingot lasted me till Gachaorgasm
>Already an overrated shitter in base Rise, nowhere near as threatening as the other monsters in that tier
>Actually became even more of a shitter in Master Rank because it spends half the hunt with its face stuck in the floor
Promoting him was a mistake. All the other World mons getting promoted in base Rise was great though.
Hes a shit fight, shit monster, boring world design
The only redeeming thing is his armor
How's Wide GL poke/shell with erupting cannon? I'm eyeing that final boss GL with its Wide 8 and the Bazel set is pure perfection for GL.
>How's Wide GL poke/shell with erupting cannon
Good but boring
do we know what monsters are coming in the title updates aside Lucy and Seething?(and metal raths since theyre 100% coming)
Look here
interesting. Wasnt Chaotic also datamined?
His armour was but the longsword description wasn’t. So he might just not have a longsword in this game. Also both the longsword descriptions and the armour index seem to be incomplete, so he could have a longsword but for whatever reason it was scrubbed and not the armour.
looked like silhouette of plum crab and either orange or white espinas.
Before they added Seething to the roadmap, those silhouettes on update 2 were zoomed out and it was super obvious that the right one is Mizutsune. The left one is definitely Espinas though, it’s even in the same pose as Orange/Brown Espinas was in his official render from Frontier.
Ooh, neat.
So...Followers are actually just extra cats with no damage?
They have decent AI...usually.
>gramps with hammer
>decent ai
usually
They do no damage at all, all the do is placing traps, healing you and wyvern riding
useful, a lot, but still no damage so it's basically like a cat with healing bubble, electric trap and frog barrage
This good?
Id swap camo and barrage
Why Whirlwind assault and not something useful to you like go-fight-win?
Same for camo istead of summon endemic or power drum
I played the demo as recommended
What the frick
Hh feels wrong
Just another blunt weapon that you occassionally abc>fusion melody for free all songs
Nice nice.... 4 FRICKING SONGS? But why, who hurt someone so bad with it that this needed to happen?
Lbg and hbg dodge feels like aids, whoever added that charging mechanic needs to be shot
I need a drink
Not even his final form
is this something too frontier for pme to understand
By late MHFG they gave late mainline imports a different appearance when enraged.
>no ahtal ka
>no goss harag subspecies
>no big monster to showcase what gods hunters are against a giant now
it could've been the perfect roster...
Gib Gog
Not giant enoughto be shit
Generally fun too
Dala was alright
Everythings all fun and games untill that preying mantis frick monster rides somthing dangerous AT us
I liked fighting Gore and hated fighting Shaggy in other games, but it’s swapped in Sunbreak. Dunno why.
gore is incredibly spastic and spams "walking forward" lunges (the worst part of his old fight too) over and over in this game while shaggy lost his dumbass random mines in favor of much more fair, telegraphed attacks
What's the verdict on charge master? Is elemental the new hammer meta?
charge master is dogshit, it maxes out at a 15% element bonus for 3 points. chain crit is amazing if you're playing elemental courage hammer. don't go whole hog elemental but pick up chain crit on your normal raw damage set with a good high element hammer and you're good to go
Why high element if chaincrit is a direct addition not multiplier
because chain crit gives both raw and element and is incredibly efficient for what it gives you.
Sounds good
Post set
this set looks like it has low crit because it's operating off the assumption that you have a rousing roar cat for 30% crit and kushala soul gem for 15%
I haven't crunched the numbers myself.
That's why if you look at the speedrun weapons for stuff like SnS or SA they'd have multiple different weapons of the same element listed depending on the fight.
>riding basarios
>just spamming death lasers for 800 damage each
This is the best.
Can someone give me a quick rundown on why people on here like to call Seregios Steve?
They called him Steve once.
>level 4 slot
>chain crit 2
good charm
redpill me on lance. is it raw only or can it run ele and stats as well
kinda burnt out on gs and sns atm
anyone? hello?
The best lance is the final boss lance, so you would run it raw but the playstyle doesn't change much, anything is viable
Spiral thrust spam, guard dash + leaping thrust, pokes, cross counter, charged sweep into shield tackle
Not him but what's the difference between guard dash and shield tackle
There's very little pretense to gameplay, it's simply
>do a few quests and sidequests
>fulfill a few requests
>urgent quest
>receive new quests, sidequests, requests
>repeat
No gay homosexual Black personhomosexual event rotation too
I forgot about those because I didn't bother with them on principle
World and Iceborne felt like the devs were deliberately trying to waste my time in a lot of cases. Rise has basically none of that and I hope to god that they don't revert to those design philosophies for the next major title.
Guiding Lands went from
>I can just hunt for hours!
to
>I have to just hunt for hours...
really fast
>Rise has basically none of that
would agree with you but charm grinding exists and they took out material melding
And charms have far less impact on your power level than full list of decos
Especially with charms being as weak as they were
>while Rise and Sunbreak feel like they don't even care in comparison
Can't do a live service MMO-esque game when the game is meant for a portable which doesn't always have connection to the net as opposed to a stationary machine.
but warframe is on switch
Ironically Switch has the most cloud games out there
>no holidays
>which means no free seasonal armor sets too
I really miss the demonlord set.
Orion armor came back
Blossom armor came back
Gala anniversary armor came back
Diver armor came back
Harvest armor returned to being a bumblepumpkin set
It's easy asset reuse.
Good riddance to the rotating event quests.
this was also present in the last console game, right? Tri had real-time stuff too in Loc Lac versus the usual Portable way of treating content via downloads
Yeah rotating event quests were in 1, 1G, Dos, Tri, World and Iceborne. The handheld games didn’t do this because of technical limitations, and Rise didn’t because of how hated it was when it returned in World.
>Rise didn’t because of how hated it was when it returned in World.
Are you saying they won't come back to MH6? Because you hate them?
?
Surely
I dont think mh6 will be on switch but they will definitely release portable 6 on switch as is tradition
Seems like thats the cycle we'll be going on for now, which I'm fine with
And on PC, as is tradition. Because China doesn't buy Switch. Sad but it's the truth presented at a board level meeting at Capcom
>dude capcom doesn't care about making money
Lmao
I don't know how you can be this stupid. Do you even know that Rise sold less than World in Japan?
well the other explanation would be the most often said one, Rise is a portable entry
World was so fricking bad. Frick that live service shit
Festivals, armors, events and cerulean tickets were great.
I would be happy if these returned but event quests themselves were permanent additions like in the handheld games. Just double the rewards for event quests during festivals if they think having them available permanently will hurt engagement, as add new event quests more regularly. Problem solved.
yeah its almost like we're playing a real monster hunter game again
>no daily vouchers, no steamworks, no holidays
good riddance.
Guiding lands without the level bullshit is kino, just random hunts in a big, layered map.
No levelling?
>want to hunt monster a
>it wont spawn
>EAT A GIRROS INSTEAD LOL
Or, even better
>nu GL experience
>no levels, nothing
>but you spent all of your luck allowance on the Valstrax mantles, so everything in the nu-GL is Almudron
>even grass, even sun, even almighty Allah is Almudron now
Lures existed.
As much as I like Sunbreak, I fricking hate that the devs felt need to give every damn monster either a charge, a backhop or both. It feels like 70% of the hunt I'm just running after a monster that jumped or charged to other side of the area.
What happened with Steve
He feels extra ADHD now, im having more trouble with him than with dragons
Is there a good cb set with enough deco slots to put in everything you need?
full Bazel with Garangolm CB has a shitload of slots and literally every Impact Phial CB skill you need if you're just going for Axe Hopper spam.
Slot in Attack Boost 4 + Wirebug Whisperer or whatever with a decent talisman and you're good to go.
Garangolm CB is quite awful though besides the slots
Isn't a very high raw weapon?
Should have some use, I remember people using that awful Akantor CB because of the godly raw for phial explosions
phial explosions dont care about sharpness
My tomboy knight wife was never real. She was in my head the whole time.
I'm lvl 100/100 and just learned about elemental weaknesses
>i just found out about a basic thing after 645 hours of gameplay
Based moron bro
>doesn't even learn game mechanics, just fricking HOONTS
based hoonterchad
>be lance
>spending the entirety of rise and sunbreak only allowed to have blue sharpness, a sliver at white at most.
>Abyssal Icicle
>numbers basically double
I finally remember why they limit our power bros.
God I fricking hate playing online now, especially with GS. I also don't understand how people do the follower quests and use cats/dogs with any weapon which needs the monster to have constant aggro on you to be most effective.
Unless you just mash rage slash and strongarm whenever an attack grazes you, but even then it sucks balls.
I am not even sure Followers can hold aggro for more than 1 attack since I'm constantly the target of Monster attacks even when I don't do anything, but no weapon "needs" aggro even if it performs better with it.
Skill issue
GS online is for the surge combo and TCS when downed
Imagine eating a Rhenoplos egg or an even bigger egg. I'd love it. Munch on a huge cooked egg, be splattered by the yolk. I WANT IT TO EXIST NOW.
Just go eat an ostrich egg.
I don't live in Australia sadly.
Why do you care what others think? Play the game the way you want to dummy.
People groan when you exist in their lobby no matter what you do, just do whatever.
I love seeing lesser used weapons in hunt
id rather the hunt be longer than do another run surrounded by homosexual gunners
Gunlance moveset-wise in 5th gen games is still in a better position than it has been historically.
Rise is easy enough that every weapon is viable and will easily get sub-8 minute hunts with unoptimal comfort builds. If your weapon is truly low tier garbage you *will* feel it, assuming you dont poison yourself with the opinions of others.
Post master rank arena completion times
Why yes, I did get sub 5 with GS on Furious and LS+SA on Espinas on my first tries, how could you tell?
What the hell how are you typing with your tiny paws
Gunlance is the best weapon in multiplayer hunts not counting ranged due to its ability to do high burst damage and approach the monster quickly
>its another phasing through downed kushala while doing perfect rush episode
Hunting horn? more like FUNting horn, change stun resist with def boost 7 since that anon said that i will get carted because i choose stun resistance 3 instead of def
>survive with a sliver of hp instead of dying due to defense boost
>die anyway due to stun lol
Or
>survive a hit but get stunned
>eat a kamehameha and die
You get stunned after 3-5 hits, not 2 barring specific monster, so stun res is almost never helpful when homosexualmons 1 or 2 shot you now.
When it happens it makes me want to kill myself
So id rather slot in 3 lvl1 decos
>barring specific monster
who
Kot
*misses*
*sits for ages and stops helping you because monster chased the sniping bowguntroony across the area*
are you guys fine with title updates?
Is the weapon tree still unfinished? Im in MR 5 trying to figure out what ele weapons to build and the trees i see online end with what i currently see
Yes it doesn't finish until certain TU monster. And before that, most is locked until MR7-30, final at 100.
Why are you lying? All the trees are finished using afflicted materials, Furious, Scorned, or g rank Valfalk.
They better bring back my boy with the metal raths.
You need to build shit weasels for two elements and pregnant snek for another.
pegora is trying to hunt steve...
What do I need to kill to upgrade my Malz GS
I kinda like its looks
Incel Magnamolo
>finish quest with randos really quickly
>check other player's statuses
>they all have 470-ish attack
>check mine
>350
wtf I'm using the final boss weapon man
>pc shitters already hacking the gane
I knew something felt off
hbgshitters explain
>still average reload
what is even the point
The embarassing thing isn't even the 1300 attack, but the fact it still need 1500 def and a shield lol
That's me. Dereliction + resentment from gorm armor. Actually I don't hit 500 unless I use all item buffs and bow's +30ish raw wirebug so they probably have attack up or chaincrit too or something (otherwise cheaters)
must be running attack boost 7, dereliction 3 and resentment 5 at the very least but it still sounds a bit high
you still have crit boost, wex, and crit eyes?
no, haha. you'll have to choose between crits or attack boosting. anything over 400 attack with all crits is bullshit
alright, thanks
what about element? you don't play with that?
>mh is a grinding game
>just mod out the grind bro!
pc players are moronic
Blame worldbabs who could create mantles out of thin air and made them accustomed to that type of convenience.
VE Cosmic Tickets have existed since at least FU, I think?
Yeah, though you also need to hunt in multiplayer to get those. Wasn't IB's equivalent a bit more liberal, especially during events?
>Blame worldbabs
You freaks are so mentally ill it isn't even funny. Because yeah, obviously World is the reason PCgays cheat and not any trait inherent to PCgays. Fricking have a nice day you god damn loser.
anyone here use kushala or teostra blessing when using fire or water element?
Not worth using their armors, really.
s the extra water/fire attack +10% not really worth it?
Even if you had 80 element you'd only get +8 from that, and you're forfeiting a lot of damage skills to get it
>+8
that's sad, guess i'll remove it from my other ele build
+8 on a fast hitting weapon like DB isn't that bad, considering it would still be +3 on a weakzone, and with an attack usually hitting for around 16 it's nearly a 20% increase
It is bad when you consider what skills you'd be giving up to use those armor pieces
if you could somehow fit the blessings and chain crit 3, maybe since you could push 100 ele on some weapons, but even then you're probably better off using derelection sets
Me.
Well, I will be once I get this stupid set together.
I want MAX ICE to remove Blos from existence with the Aurora CB.
Kushala arms now give 2 points, so that's the only part you need to run.
But you could be running better arms with good skills, slot the elementwhatever rampage deco and probably get a better deal out of it.
There aren't actually that many options to increase the damage of your elemental SAED.
Plus I think it's fun
Does Partbreaker and Blast even work together? I assume Blast always occurs on an unbroken monster part same as it used to right
>I assume Blast always occurs on an unbroken monster part
Doesn't the blast proc on the part you hit to proc it?
In World, visually it did, but technically it was on a random unbroken part
It always occurs on the part you hit it with. Also if you're the same autist from yesterday just hunt the monster and stop wasting your time with part breaker and trying to find the optimal part breaks
Any advice on building a status LBG?
I remember it being a fun thing to do in rando mp hunts in 4u and 3u
Mostly interested in para and poison because randos
Thought about dog gun, but the position of the supposed trigger bothers me more than it should
Is Espinas lbg okay? Bishiten?
Dont see many RF options.
Ass to attract attention
Capcha is 8p0rn lmao
You're probably going to have to wank a dog, RF on all status is just too useful in terms of ammo conservation and overall status application.
Cham LBG is an option as well, but dog gun also has decent sticky, so you can rob hammer and HH of their KOs as well.
It just occurred to me that they got rid of the directional GS blocking where you can turn around while blocking with a GS. How backwards is that?
>got rid of turn around
>How backwards is that?
apparently not
I'm starting with DB and I feel I should be using the evade counter and silkshine a lot, but I just run around doing aerial stuff into the super spin thing.
It works well enough but I really feel I should be using the other two.
Shrouded Vault has become my panic button.
Roar? Shrouded Vault. Big-ass attack? Shrouded Vault. Can't see the monster for whatever reason? Shrouded Vault.
How easy is Bow to pick up?
Very easy
Just bend over it's not that heavy
In High rank it was kinda easy, but it could be a bit harder in G rank.
When do I unlock mr valstrax?
MR70
I tried a bit earlier but I couldn't do it, anyone know if Velociprey can still be cut in half by hitting them midjump with a GS? lol
>Would it be a decent addition to Monster Hunter?
Yes. As long as you can't do it mid-combat and one skill isn't just powercreep on the other.
I really like the lance block alternative.
Its a bit clunky to use in comparison to normal block but you get a counter move if you time it.
Yes, but like the other anon said, it would require some fine tuning to be sure one options isn't just better.
No skills or styles. Ever thought of that? Just expand the moveset. That's what World did.
At some point you end up with too much moveset bloat.
Adding more moves to SnS wouldnt work.
I would love to see experimental moveset swap. Like removing backhop for something else.
Its either that or a new weapon.
I really want a new weapon in monster hunter.
They should merge the bowguns and put in tonfas or accel axe, to keep it at 14.
I just want a halberd. Not the french kind.
Just give me a cool halberd style weapon.
There were longswords with chink halberd models
BG should be customizable to allow for light/medium/heavy bowgun again
No.
They should UNmerge the bowguns
I want my siege
I want more RF options
I dont want slow running med bowgun and fast running med bowgun
>merge the bowguns
Seems a better solution that half the weapons just being useless because they have the wrong phial or shelling type.
>we could solve the element being shit problem
>nah, let's just allow the player to use the only type of weapon worth using
Half the weapon will always be useless simply because once one is slightly better, then other are just straight up worse.
You can't solve that. They solved it mostly with SB with all the weapons getting to rank10
For example, Jyura GS is top tier
It looks like ass still.
I'd rather wank a dog than use this shit.
>and make all the weapons just skins lol
Rampage_Weapons.png
Works for frontier
?t=196
>Works for frontier
Yeah, exactly
Happy to see you got the point
>every weapon should have 19401 inputs at the same time all the time
Honestly, no.
Yeah, I really like having surge and rage combo on alt scroll for dealing with shitters like various -ggis or just to mix things up
This webm makes for a good use case for Earplugs but at the same time shit is way too expensive in both World and Rise. Miss these skills generally being a lot more relevant.
How did you change a follower's weapon loadout again?
X when selecting the follower, on Switch at least. Also only works in Surveys, regular follower quests lock them in their default weapon.
What are the best hunts for leveling MR? Getting to 100 feels like it's taking forever.
Just farm outfit vouchers, you need a gorillion anyway.
This makes the Tendie piss and shit their pants
I'm going to try hammer now that people talk about elemental being a thing
Is the playstyle more than silkbind spam?
Your biggest attach is going to be impact crater, which double bonks is around 900 each for 1800 with the right build. Most of the time you’re going to using charge attacks.
some day i will get a good charm
and then you'll ALL be sorry
Now that I'm in MR I miss my full valstrax set. I miss it, bros.
you know i thought afflicted are a good endgame concept but afflicted aknosom is really making me rethink it
frick this animation cancelling c**t
I'm MR60, why don't I have any more Palico armour?
Something is broken
Or
You are a liar
If first, fill a bug report
If second, fill your ass with my wiener
Maybe you haven't made any new MR armour so you haven't gotten any scraps?
Nah, the moment you fight a monster its palico/palamute gear should show up immediately.
>optimal GS play involves literally blowing yourself up with a bomb
Kinda based
What
>monster is incapacitated
>place down small bomb in front of you
>use counter on explosion
>hit monster for huge number
You still need to place a bomb and counter
Wouldnt it be better to just slap a regular charge combo into its face?
you clearly don't know how powerful the GS counter is
Isnt it just a shortcut to t3 rage/tcs?
The only boost it can give is offensive guard if you have it slotted in.
The counter itself gives a big damage boost.
No it would not. SS gives you like an extra 30% damage boost on youre TCS.
Frick
Thats juicy
>gave GS not just a counter to negate damage, and not just a counter that combos straight into TCS, but a counter that charges straight into TCS AND gives a 30% damage boost
The frick Garangolm's armor is literally just Barroth's armor. The frick is this crap?
but with better skill?
Every time I do join requests for the A*4 monsters people just rush to the monster without picking up any spiribirds and get one shot. I just want these quests over with and soloing takes so long for me. Stop tripple carting before the 5 minute mark please
It's pretty telling of how obnoxious and unlikable a mechanic spiribirds are when even when it's literally necessary, people still don't do it.
It’s not necessary
AB7, resetnment 4, heroic 4, dereliction 3 HP 1% demon mode one hit deal 60 damage
AB7, CE7, WEX3, CB3 demon mode one hit deal 62 damage
convince me to use AB7, resentment 4, heroic 4, dereliction 3

I fricking hate ice somnacanth.
It's annoyance has surpassed Almudron.
what the frick is wrong with MR teostra
no sex
He has to deal with Ms Lunastra
You cheeky bastard.
How the shit do I use this Switch Axe? It feels so different from 4U that I've become a baby again.
spam the counter
Use counter to get amp
Spam 2 stage morph slash
Hold on, what the shit is "amp" anyway? Is that the weird outline that creeps up on my sword meter? What does it do?
Amped state allows your sword (and axe) to deal phial damage along with your normal damage.
Yes, it's the outline. When it's full your attacks deal additional phial damage and you can ZSD for maximum damage.
I don't know what any of that shit means lel
You don't spam the new morph sweep, it's just for refilling sword gauge when it gets low.
Well what else am I supposed to be doing between counters?
Combo loops or ZSDs. Try forward overhead slash, double morph slash, triple slash, double morph slash, repeat. Once you know what you're doing you can mix in fade slashes to reposition, ZSD to extend an opening, and so on.
>punches ground
>gets 2 different elements
Heh nothing personnel frontier
Do most people even play multiplayer anymore?
I play with friends in lobbies.
Not so much with randos
I like joining pubs if I'm just farming one monster for a while.
X, X, A, A, A, X+A, Backstrap, maybe perfect rush if possible.
So much of the SnSs kit feels pointless.
100% Affinity GS set, never sharpen ever again. Fun as frick
