I'm usually a souls boomer purist. I don't play games that I don't nostalgically like on average.
After finishing elden ring and dumping hundreds of hours into it along with the souls games, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and try the monster hunter franchise.
Because people say monster is an amazing franchise with top tier combat that's better than elden ring, sekiro, dark souls etc.
I spend 30 fricking bucks (what I paid for sekiro for amazing combat) to get some weird game where you can't even run with your weapon unsheathed. You have to walk around talking to anime girls. Monsters have weird hitboxes that register weird hits by throwing around a tiny bit of blood. You can't even lock on to the monster. Weapons are ugly and oversized. You have to spend 10 minutes poking a monster a tiny bit with your sword and it doesn't even feel like your sword actually hit it. Hits don't feel satisfying, monsters don't even react to the damage. You can't even see the monsters health bar so you don't even know if you did any damage if the random pathetic blood didn't fly out.
The game feels so cheaply made that it isn't even funny
Any monster hunter after 3U (Tri or P3rd, really) is shit and not worth it
What blademaster armor sets are you boys liking in Sunbreak?
What's up with MHgays pretending to be anything special and using soulsgays as some punching bag when they're both normalgaycore games now?
>now
they always were normalgay core
Demon souls was a monhun knockoff, then it became mainstream in Dark Souls using the "Dark souls difficult" meme
Monster hunter was normalgaycore since the PSP, atleast in japan and mexico
>mexico
is monster hunter a big thing in mexico?
yep, all the psp games and Tri were translated to spanish, including P3rd
plus i am pretty sure they created the rumour of a patapon x monhun crossover
You got filtered, but Rise is shit too
I'm going to keep playing it till I like it. I paid 30 fricking bucks and I can't refund it. So I should play it. But I'm not addicted to the combat like I was in elden ring
Try all the weapons atleast once, just don't become a gunner homosexual
Gunners are preferable to LS and DBs.
Charge blade babs are the shittiest to be quite honest
I feel like I am missing something.
How many moves can you do with your long sword? Can you do jumping attacks?
Please don't play monster hunter with a keyboard
All the moves are listed in the hunter notes, plus some useful combos, you got 2 wirebug skills too in Rise, and some alternate moves you'll unlock later on.
You can do vertical slashes with triangle, stabs with circle, fade slash with both at once
spirit slashes, iai slash, counter, roundabout slash or whatever the frick it's called with R
You have to launch yourself into the air first, or use the helm splitter, a teammate can also send you flying, or with your wirebugs, then you can do air attacks
Or the insect glaive is the dedicated air weapon
Sounds good. Using pokes and slashes just didn't feel good at all when I did them
Longsword's gimmick is filling the little bar next to sharpness, you raise the level with the roundabout slash, up to 3 times, and you deal like 100% more damage or something like that.
also your attacks wont bounce
>mfw I unlock Bullet Barrage
GL mains got fricking spoiled this expansion, I love it
How do you unlock them? Certain point in the story or?
After an urgent quest in MR4.
How do you add palico secret skills to action bar? On one I see is fireworks.
>Because people say monster is an amazing franchise with top tier combat that's better than elden ring, sekiro, dark souls etc
Nobody says this. It's still a better game because combat autism simulators are trash
I saw it claimed recently
It definitely gives you more options, and the iframes rolls is more unforgiving, but the series combat has declined heavily with the newer titles.
I've recently started playing my first Monster Hunter (World; it was on sale) and it seems ok.
I wouldn't compare it to souls, too different. A better comparison would be to Dragon's Dogma. I think DDogmas's more fun but I'm aware that MHunter is designed more for multiplayer and I'm playing it solo.
Then how do you enjoy it?
>
Monster hunter is alright solo
i don't really see much of a difference in playing multiplayer, tbh, aside of the fact that you can get some air attacks if a hammer dude launches you upwards
t. Started on the dualpack on the psp and beat fu, p3rd, tri, dos on a chipped PS2 solo
