Whose bright idea was it to let the actual princess and heir to the throne screw around a crater where they expect a nation-destroying monster to appear?
That's a good idea. My go-to has been Narga head with Gore bottom for max spooky edgelord ninja, but I might find the hat you're talking about. Is it the bumblepumpkin one?
Yeah, the one done with the pumpkin you get from the trading minigame
Not having layered weapons is suffering, for now the Somna "staff" weapon is fine, but eventually I will change it

>layered weapons
My only regret is that I cannot duel wield the Gore and Astalos SAs. Even with layered weapons I'd still have to choose just one.
I don't know for sure but you made me google 'mmz bosses' and fricking hell
LUNAGARON IS A MEGAMAN REFERNCE, ITS EVEN GOT THE WEIRD TRIANGULAR TAIL, I THOUGHT THAT TAIL WAS FAMILLIAR
>meld decos and rng talismans >meld talismans and rng decos
I'm not sure which system is more garbage here. Final update IB let you meld pretty much every important deco so this one is worse I guess.

I don't think clownsuits were that bad back when a lot of sets had a very similar aesthetic and could look good being mixed and matched but I'd rather be DEAD than be seen wearing this.
I think the biggest problem for me is just the colors chosen. The colors in the game in general already look not great, but some of the armors are so exceptionally ugly BECAUSE of poor color choice.
You should probably not wear that even under a layered set anon
god, why are all rise armor sets fricking terrible.
>noooo why every set is not just another armor knight colored like the monster reee
W*rld did a disaster with the weapons, but the armors weren't exactly peak example of variety
>even more inane post
literally what the frick does this even mean. i just stated my opinion on the armor designs which seems to be shares by more people. how is this inane, are you actually moronic? im just going to stop replying cause you are the homosexuals that will defend capcom at all costs. >>>>>he
sure
What I should mention, litterally any other MH having armor like Rise?
Accept it, everyone talk about world shit because it's litterally limited to world
>You should probably not wear that even under a layered set anon
Do you not know about the Narwa-Ibushi set bonus? It's really great for comfy hunting + the MR version has a level 2 slot on every piece. With my charm, my current skills are:
Guard 5, Crit Boost 3, Wex 3, Razor Sharp 3, Guard Up 3, Offensive Guard 3, Slugger 3, Partbreaker 3 and Flinch Free 3. The set bonus, alongside giving 2 points in every one of the armor skills, also gives you Great Luck. I also have Artillery 3 and Rapid Morph 3 but those just came with the armor and obviously do nothing for lance. Wind and Thunder alignment also boost your dragon and thunder res.
I was thinking about the HR one and without the slot is kinda meh
I remember the MR ones catch my interest alreay in the datamine exactly because of those slots
That's part of why I liked relic armor so much. You could mix in a pierce or two to get some pretty good skills while also having a lot of choice for he look.
I never grinded out relic armor. It was just too much for me. I did find a pretty cool weapon though. What was that really armor that looked like some badass version of the Elite Knight armor from Dark Souls? It was like Rebellion X or something.
Minmaxers should look like homosexuals whereas soulful fullset roleplayers should look good. >b-b-but layered armor gives me options
No it doesn't, nothing is stopping you from wearing all the cool armors in the game
We're talking only about armor sets, there's nothing hard about just crafting a set, even if you don't want to minmax and bother with talismans and decos it's just dumb to not get the armor with the skills you want and fashion up with layered

damage. that's it, you just want to wear a googled meta clownsuit and not look like a drooling moron.
compare that to >wearing a cool set, it has a weird build >crafting a unique weapon to match the unique build >you can immediately tell what build your fellow hunters have just by looking at their armor
of course no one fricking cares because this is le action game now. no one joins lobbies and chat with each other, no more "kick all insect glaives from my lobby" memes on Ganker. its all soulless random matchmaking. number go up im so cool my weapon has 50 iframe attacks.
layered armor is the definition of soulless. search your heart, you know it to be true

anon, i hate to tell you this, but if these backwater japs came up with the idea of layered armor 15 years ago, they would have included it. Jap developers just have to copy qol improvements other games had 10 years later
thats because gen 1 and 2 armor was designed to be modular, the original skills system that MH1 used was based off using random clownsuits for skills, thus the armor was designed to be of a similar style between all of them. of course they reused most of that armor across all titles, but 4th gen really started to up the amount of over the top armor designs that didnt really mesh well with mixed sets
>options bad
You can still clown-suit as you please.
I don't think clownsuits were that bad back when a lot of sets had a very similar aesthetic and could look good being mixed and matched but I'd rather be DEAD than be seen wearing this.
Doing Hyper monsters have been fun so far, people are good and do what they need to do. I've been stuck on Aurora for like four runs now, always that one hunter who carts two or three times
Damn why'd they screw the ninja sword over so hard?
Laughable raw for no element, no white with HC like the HR version got, no improved slots AND only a lvl 1 rampage deco, and they didn't even add a lvl4 bludgeoner to utilize blue. Like you can scoll down once to the royal sns and it's just straight up better.
>lvl4 bludgeoner to utilize blue
I think that would break HR and it kinda matter.
It's unheard for a skill level to be "locked" until a certain rank so I dunno the solution
There are two ways they could've handled leveling instead while still incentivizing multiplayer for other zones: >can level all zones, takes longer to compensate so there's still a reason for joining others full leveled zones >can only level one zone to max, but really quickly so it only takes a few hunts, you might want to join someone else if you want to do multiple high level zones in quick succession
It's nice to know what drops what ahead of time before clearing the quest. So if I just got to the tier that has Fangs and Claws, and I only need Fangs, I know which quests to take while still getting to hunt a variety instead of farming one monster.
yeah the pattern is REAL simple >bones come from fanged beasts (just the low threat ones) >pelts are raptors, simple enough >monster bones come from... some bird wyverns, a brute, a leviathan and fricking basarios >blood comes from... also fanged beasts but also crab, and also khezu i guess >scale comes from... another assortment of 4 completely unrelated monsters >shell comes from... the other crab, mudfish and somnacanth, alright so it's an aquatic theme??? no there's also fire bishaten
Yeah it doesn't seem very well thought, you even get the same amount of items. Why would you farm the stronger monster.
I suppose the advantage is you being able to farm both the mats for regular stuff AND the special items at once. So there's no point in doing the regular monsters.
Nah there are advantages and disadvantages to the system.
With all different mats you'd be forced to farm X monsters many times, instead you can kill a different monster every time if you feel like it.
For fun!
A 15 minute Pukei feels like dragging hell, but a 15 minute Anjanth feels a little more like a hunt.
Also, for those sweet quest completion checkmarks. If I need a Scale and I've already beaten the other three, might as well take out the Rathian.
I don't know why everyone thinks garangolm is easy. He hits me every single time. Just triple carted to afflicted garangolm earlier. For reference I also just killed furious 4 times no carts, 15 mins each.
that category was pretty hard to choose from, but i would say garngolm is the easiest with his weakspots to hit and the easiest to telegraph compared to narga barroth and magnamalo who probably can all one shot you too
barioth, i assume you meant, telegraphs a lot
i hated fighting him in HR but i don't mind him in MR now
maybe it's surge slash being a lot more mobile, idk
honestly i had more trouble with centanaur and fricking mr tobi for some reason lol
>bones
Ok, all the Arzuros skeleton basically, make sense >pelt
the raptor, sure! >bone
Uh, that's...a bit confusing >blood
Ok, why that suddenly got so confusing??
Didn't you know? Bears don't bleed, they have honey flowing through their veins. And only reptiles and birds have bones, everything else is held together by skin and hamstrings.
Look, the point is not that everyone should drop blood and shit, just that they grouped em in some random way istead of, for example, making a drop for each species.
Why does it feel like armours cap way too little? If I'm wearing maxed out armour nothing should be one shotting me from full heath when I have health bugs. That's cheap. I'm tempted to run defence boost with that lvl 4 deco that gives you 5 levels in one.
>Some Dev accidentally put an extra 0 in the motion values
What is this referencing? Pierce element? I was wanting to do a build with that one charge skill from garangolm's armor. I hope element doesn't get nerfed.
I fricking hate Rathalos. In World you could just flash him out of the air into a free knockdown but he recovers from this near-instantly in Rise. How the frick do I make this butthole let me split its head open with my sword?
I never have not found a match, it's almost sorcery, I can select the most garbage old event quest that no one should have problem soloing and still get a group
They're not event they're the last rank 7 HR quests

do people on PC not make lobbies for farming specific monsters and stuff? do they mostly just use the join mid quest feature? i never see any lobbies targeting monsters i want to farm
i dont think thats such a big deal when this game came out on switch i was having lobbies constantly filled even without needing to name them. i am just surprised to never see a targeted monster when i look at the lobby list. i assume everyone just uses the join mid hunt option or something.
I don't miss footprint sniffing but I do kind of miss the presence of the footprints. I miss seeing the presence of monsters in the area in general, like with scales and markings being left around.
There's even less tracking in that there is no tracking at all. All monsters are visible on the map always, immediately. Even brand new monsters are visible on the map with a ?.
Wow, that sucks. Still sounds better than following scoutflies though

Paintballs felt like you were actively hunting the monster and more inmersive to the whole hunter in monster hunter but i prefer rise's aproach to the fricking slog that was world

>region lock >filter option "same language" and "any language" is based on your in game language instead of your region >filtering for "any language" won't even show you same language rooms >effectively the majority of rooms is filtered out for me
goddammit capcom
>finally hunt in a Kingdom that’s not under guild jurisdiction >still identical to previous games for the sake of diplomatic relationships
But I want to be a poacher
Question:
Is anyone here using the new classic filter?
I find it to make the base rise maps look much better and less washed out, but since the new ones are so vibrant already, they end up looking a bit worse.
How do I get good in this game? MR 52 now, still get hit all the time, chug all first aid meds and almost all mega pots every hunt, have defense 7 decorations, never cart and all hunts take 15-30 minutes. If monsters actually killed me in 2 or 3 hits I might actually be forced to try to become better.
Same. For me, he just didn't stand out. His design/fight is okay. Malzeno isn't that hard either, but I like the vampire aesthetic and 'nothin personnel' sound effects. Made the encounter more memorable in comparison, personally.
>troonyfied my character to male in SB after making tomboys the past 4 games >actually like it a lot better and adore some of the full knight armor pieces, currently rocking a Dukemon esque look
Initially did it for better self inserting with (Me) x Fio, but I think I like this better than my old witch bawd as a whole.
I wish MH would just let me change my appearance anytime like in Elden Ring though.
>At least no one is contrarian enough to pine for that
You have no Idea the hateboner this place has for gunners, I have seen SEVERAL times on alot of threads mormons claiming that Item crafting should be back at pre-World era.
I'm just tired of these homosexual gunners staggerlocking the entire fricking team, cutting the other three hunters' damage down thanks to the crippling inaction inflicted by their homosexual pierce shot spam. Makes a hunt take forever.
I dunno, this never bothered me because majority of that shit had 90-95% chance and you had the crafting books and the crafting chance improved over time. Am I also a contrarian for liking the huge wet blood slash effects when hitting monsters and underwater combat from 3U?
Crafting success rate just get in the way of gameplay in the worst way, legit just rng, nothing to do with skill
I do however miss when you could clearly tell if you were hitting a weak spot because I'm not playing with damage numbers on and hate them in the first place.
Underwater combat is whatever. I've only ever experienced underwater combat in Tri since I never played 3u and it was kinda shit but not game ruining
No matter how many people will tell you "n-no, we actually miss it"
you got a point there, never ever combo book were used in the discussion about "old vs new"
Litterally the first time I read about them in at least 40 MH thread
I forgot it was a thing since I only played gunner for specific fights like Metal Raths before, I approve of combo books after anon reminded me of them
They aren’t good but all mother makes them look serviceable. Playing the MR version after sunbreak being high quality really makes it apparent this shitstain trio were covid throwaways rushed out the door.
>The Monster Hunter™ will Rise™ to see the Sunbreak™... just like the legend said...
I don't know, guys, don't you think this was a bit too on the nose on Capcom's part? Was this line really necessary?
>sunbreak wards off and kills the denizens of the dark >the entire time you're fighting against the legions of Dracula and later Satan >after you defeat Satan, the sun comes up
It's not too bad.
it's better, you don't have to knock down the entire lobby of useful weapon users that actually do damage, more damage than shitlance and it isnt a troon weapon
Lots of different options for counters and generally short animations. Once you get decent with it, it feels very safe and you never have to stop attacking at any time. Trying to use Gunlance after maining Lance for a long time feels very unsafe in comparison.
If I'm running GS, what weapon trees should I keep an eye on for Sunbreak? Rise's original GS underwhelmed me but I really like the new skills you can get for GS in Sunbreak.
Is Guard worth putting points into for SnS to make use of my GP? It's so weak at base that I get staggered even by weaker roars like Mizutsune. I'd like a parry to use when Shoryugeki's on cooldown.
Considering I don’t remember using it despite playing like 200 hours of SnS in base rise using all sorts of wack builds meaning I would have tried it, it’s probably trash. It may be more worthwhile with shield charge but I doubt it
Lunagaron helm, ingot greaves, start with those and go from there. Squire waist is good, especially if you use water strike. Barroth gloves are super good also. Chest there are a few that work, just see what else you need once you factor in your charm, slugger is easy to slot in to any open 4 slot for +2
subspecies in general just aren't that great. Some of them are very iconic, but they're often kind of just lazy content.
you've either got element flips with overdesigned weirdness going on [common in late 3rd gen] that negates the way the original monster was designed to, usually, look like something that would actually be related to whatever element or environment it lived in, going against that naturalistic element of monster hunter that leant the earlier entries some charm. Or,
recolour with some moveset change, which just feels like a non-entity and an excuse to make you fight more of the same monster, when taking the concept just a BIT further by slightly redesigning the monster and coming up with a new name and pretending its a 'related' species instead would be imo more fun and immersive. You see this actually done in places, such as the dromes or 'aggis, or even jagras/shamos/dodogama in world being probably the peak of it as they're substantially different to the point its debatable they even class as an example, which is how different monsters should be to begin with.
He isn't really great either. I think the only one I don't mind is Ivory Lagiacrus because the colour on it isn't weird or outlandish and the idea of a very close species of lagiacrus that simply favours land and became more proficient fighting there is extremely down to earth, but even that falls into the latter category and 'land leviathan' is effectively already filled in 3rd gen by Agnaktor, who is one of my favourite fights in the series.
I don't understand what kind of weird thing you morons are smoking. Dunno about Rakna but trash? What the frick? Bishaten and Somnacanth share like two moves with their original. The rest of their moveset is original. They're some of the best subspecies if anything.
No skill, ez mode to use and does a lot of damage. Used by trannies and morons alike, if you want to play a ranged weapon that involves some kind of skill involved there is only bow
I don't like HBG because I hate having to charge every single shot. My autism doesn't let me fire uncharged shots of any kind because it makes me feel like I'm wasting ammo.
I dont know if it was mentioned in a previous thread already, but did the exact contents of the patch get datamined yet?
What exactly did they do to A1 and A2 monsters?
Still mad at no cross-save compatibility.
Would have bought the PC version and Sunbreak if I could somehow transfer my save over. I don't want to play Sunbreak at 720p30 if I can easily get 1080p144 on my PC, but I also don't want to slog through the base game again.
Still does big dmg and can easily target weakspots and elemental is very good on bows. Have constitution and spam dodge - lvl 4 shot with animation cancel straight into 2 power shots, dodge to maintain charge, repeat, use aerial switch skill when available for even more damage, good to use as you run pit of stamina from spamming dodges as you'll regen your bar with two aerial attacks in a row.
Supposedly got a "nerf" but with elemental + final boss armor skill you'll melt every monster in minutes. Unlike bowgunners, you at least have to manage stamina. Apparently gunners are even more broken with the same armor skill + chain crit. Past couple of randoms I joined were gunners and they killed the monster before I could even reach them.
It's just a bit of a silly weapon really but I'm a purist so I think that about everything added after 2nd gen and frankly half the 2nd gen weapons too.
Realistically, what annoys me is that because IG exists the way it does with a huge aerial capability, monster moves have gained bizarre vertical hitboxes to make sure IG can't just avoid everything , however this means the few moves on other weapons that do lend verticality are largely useless for dodging things. the new verison of Shoryugeki on SnS for instance gets hit out of the air a mile above the monster if it does a charge half the time, or gets clipped for full damage on its plunging attack because the entire creature's back is also a full damage hitbox just incase. This is less IGs fault and more a lazy bandaid balance to it's verticality, but IG players would probably be unhappy with any major change to that
I think a lot of the vertical attacks in Rise are more because of wirebug mobility rather than IG's fault in particular. Several attacks like Somnacanth's aoes and other sweeping beam attacks are made with wirebugs in mind.
I noticed the extreme vertical hitboxes when I'm using lance and I try to wirebug up after getting hit only to be hit out of the air by seemingly nothing. It definitely seems like it's also there to combat wirebugs too.
I think a lot of the vertical attacks in Rise are more because of wirebug mobility rather than IG's fault in particular. Several attacks like Somnacanth's aoes and other sweeping beam attacks are made with wirebugs in mind.
It's at its worst in rise because of wirebugs too, yeah, but it's been a growing issue since at least Generations I feel
Aerial IG attacks do shocking DPS now. A helicopter on a weak wing or back hitzone tears shit up just as well as a max DPS ground combo, and in group play helps the group get breaks on out-of-reach hitzones. This isn't 4U or even World anymore.
>wirebug whisperer 3 talisman with 2 2 slots
Nice. Kind of useless now though since wirebug whisperer is pretty much the only worthwhile lvl 4 deco but when we get later lvl 4 decos it'll be nice.
Does anyone have any hard numbers on how much Wirebug Whisperer reduces the wait time after using certain moves?
Surely there's a spreadsheet listing each silkbind and I dont have to go into the training room and manually count the seconds as I slot in WW decos.
1 point of WW is a top priority in weapons with heavy wirebug use, 2/3 points is lower priority than basically everything else you would want, only take it if you get it naturally from armor or you run out of offensive skills to slot
Can someone explain how Critical Draw works? I had level 3 of it running in training grounds and every time I did any greatsword attacks, I had no +60% affinity in my status screen.
Only works on your unsheath attack. It's pretty shit, only works around a playstyle of sheathe, hit with the draw charge attack, sheathe, run away and wait for another opening. It was decent back in the day but has been irrelevant for years
Malzeno set is comfy for the wex, attack boost, blight resist, and bug whisperer but I'm thinking of moving on from it since blood right doesn't synergize that well with dual blades. Any armor recommendations?
I've been having a lot of fun with the suicidal build - shagaru head, malzeno chest/waist, final boss arms/legs
if you're comfortable with being low health constantly then you can swap out the malzeno stuff for more damage I suppose but having it to rely on once you have a part break feels nice
>IG players were super hype about powder >It doesn't scale at all and falls off hard in endgame >The new silkbinds are all trash too
IG literally can't stop losing.
I play aerial glaive and my non-afflicted hunts are all sub-10 minutes and I'm not particularly great at the game. It's clearly not the best weapon in the game, but it's not like it's massively underpowered.
Frontier anons now that the genie has been unleashed from its bottle what other frontier monsters you could see being added in future?
I was browsing the monster list and thought (from pictures alone) that Abiorugu and the red n blue doggo duo could be brought into this or future gens.
Abiorugu looked cool to me as a of prototype of glavenus.
Haven't played any Rise yet, are there any monsters like this in the game or DLC? I mean like more arthropod or whatever looking than draconic? I thought the big sand crab or whatever looking thing from the Wii era was so cool back in the day. I always liked the unorthodox monster designs the best.
pretty much, yeah. gs technically can get a tiny bit of use out of it since tcs first hit will trigger the buff for tcs second hit, but it's more of a fast weapon type of thing
I wish the lighting on this game didn't look so fricking shit on the faces outside of character creation and in the "close up" menus.
My character goes from being white in CC to looking like a smooth overly shiny pink person in-game.
jesus this game has so many fricking waifus it's insane
I only dabbled with old Monster Hunters on the PSP briefly, and played some World. Is having lots of waifus part of the traditional Monster Hunter experience?
MH always had cute girls in it.
However world was also the only game to have an ugly annoying girl as your partner.
So after that mistake they dialed it up to 11 with Rise.
If she did something of actual value instead of simply including herself as part of your accomplishments she'd be less of an annoying c**t, but still an annoying c**t all the same.
>try not to use Impact Crater all that much >keep buff on >use bugs on Swaying whenever >do dogshit >spam IC like before >use spare bugs on Swaying when I really need it only >ignore buff >crush monsters in record time
heh I really thought I was going to get away from Crater spam. Luckily I am one of the ones who don't mind it because it's satisfying as FRICK.
>Anchor Rage has to be used reactively, there's no time to swap to it while attacks wind up >Spiral Thrust can be used to counter some attacks by using it as a dodge, but often if it's not used at the start of the attack you will be punished so switch skill swapping to it doesn't always work out >Shield charge requires points in guard to prevent knockback stopping you against some attacks >Sheathing Retreat can be used to gapclose but you lose out on the damage or stun from other options >Twin Vine can be used to gapclose but then you don't get sheathing retreat and might need guard up >The standard charging attack lacks block so you will get hit with a fireball or some shit while gapclosing against many attacks
Sheathing retreat is the best thing Lance has gotten in this game. Now I don't take thirty years to sheath my weapon. I love and hate Insta-block now. It's easier to use than ever, but there's still a weird pause if you miss. I heard you can cancel out of it but I need to practice more with it.
What are you even complaining about? SB made lance better than ever and you're still not happy? First off, the new shield tackle is godly. You can quickly change direction with it, reset poke combos while building stun, and chain it into a counter thrust/instant block. Instant block was always good but got a huge damage buff, making it even stronger. Sheathing retreat is fantastic for disengaging to heal/sharpen and also negates the need for guard plus. You don't need twin vine for gap closing, just use a normal shield charge, spiral thrust, or sheathing retreat. Yes lance needs guard 5 to function correctly but that its. Just get guard 5 and you become an unstoppable tank that can shield tackle/dash through everything and deliver nonstop pokes and instant block cross sweeps.

nah normally there's just like, one or two. The guil girls are usually meant to be kinda waifu-y, but I don't feel they ever leant into it properly until 3rd gen with the Moga Sweetheart [Aisha] and the guild girls in 3U

The cute girls mostly come in from Tri onwards, but there’ve always been top tier females in the series (including player characters like Kirinbawds)
Ahhh... I see, I see.
>after that mistake they dialed it up to 11 with Rise
That makes a lot of sense too. They also seem to have gone all in on the glorious Nippon angle.
Anyway they knocked it out of the part with Hinoa and Minoto, goddesses (bangs and himes cuts are the best, THE BEST!!!) I look forward to playing your game.
No, however you can hover over an equipment loadout and tab directly to your layered loadouts, and picking a layered loadout from this menu also equips the set you were looking at.
I've lost respect for Greatsword players, this shit isn't fricking Greatsword anymore it's just counter spam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97xqdB6J5s0
I don't need to cope, I have 4U KINOsword to enjoy while you gays spam counters and PRETEND to play Greatsword.
TA is something only recently popular. If you are using TA as a metric for whatever, you're moronic. Especially when you are complaining about old GS Black person
>it's the way it plays
First of all, you linked a TA video as "backing" to your claim. Second of all, "its the way it plays' is entirely dependent on the user. Im going to stop replying now because you're actually a genuine 20 iq moron. You wont understand a thing if this is your reply dumbass
thank god there's no stupid lingering DoT attacks in Rise to counter the bullshit they injected into the game, shit was the absolute worst trying to fight a bunch of stuff as a blocker
>Playing the 2 Furious Rajang quest on PC >Longsword player is having the best evasions I've ever seen >Never loses health once, thought this was one of those fabled godlike asian players since the name was in Korean >Then I noticed he goes through the beams when missing his foresight slash >Turns out he had something akin to an invisible temporal mantle that never wore off. Keeps it the entire match and takes 0 damage.
I was so disappointed when I saw that shit. I felt like how Goku does he sees someone really strong and wants to improve.
Half the weapons lost their old identity in the transition to faster paced, less robotic combat. In some cases like SA seemingly taking cues from Alchemy SA this is arguably a good thing, but GS/LS/HH/Bow/Hammer in SB feel pretty alienated from their Old World versions.
I do like how aerial IG is finally viable though
GS has been changed so much its crazy. I've been an SnS main since FU and while I enjoyed some additions like the shield punches in Tri [although Tri had whack button mapping for classic controllers, 3u fixed this] I've been fricked up a lot by weird stuff like the backhop and charged attack mostly being accidental inputs, and perfect rush I more or less refuse to engage with and again often get into it by accident, and it takes a while to roll out of it. Sunbreak seems to have really changed SnS though, it has a unique shield-walk animation from lance now but for some reason its made it far more difficult to queue a directional block out of things, general directional queueing has been getting worse for a while I feel due to combos expanding meaning it has to keep you in the same direction waiting for a potential input to the last moment. I feel you, man, but you've definitely got it worse than me at this point
Why hate Perfect Rush? It was too strong in World, but it’s neat in SB for use on downed monsters. Reaper combos do comparable enough DPS that you need to be sure you’re landing the whole PR for it to be worth it.
I hate it because I don't like that kind of combat or inputs in general. I much prefer the more considered and clear controls of the older entries in the series, I'm not even a fan of directional inputs mid-combo which've been in the series a long while now. I don't really care how strong or good it is, I just don't want it. My ideal SnS moveset is probably GU aerial style without the silly dodge, very clean cut and simple with one button does one thing design. Although I'm not sure if I recall correctly but I think you lost the roundslash combo finisher in that style and I'd like to keep that.
Are you serious? You're an absolute poser if you think RISE's greatsword is the straw that broke the camel's back with how unrecognizable greatsword has become.
It started with G/GU, got even worse in World due to TCS completely over centralizing its moveset, and now its basically pissing on its grave.
have a nice day, poser.
Valor was acceptable, but shit like adapt and aerial are so gay.
What I think was worse though is TCS, as its basically killed the entire crit-draw/hit and run play styl, and rise basically doubled down on it.
Rise is the most pozzed version you inept homosexual. Do you want me to sit and go over the entire history moron? No fricking shit its slightly changed over the years especially with TCS, but wirebug homosexualry has changed the weapon along with the zoom zoom style of monsters making a slow weapon even more worthless unless you force yourself to commit to arts and shooting across the map like spiderman. I cant believe i have to explain to a failed abortion like you that a great sword isnt meant to be played like LS or IG.
that post was a bug.
I actually think speedrunning is troony autism and I mock my friends for watching GDQ, but if there was GOING to be a series when time matters Monster Hunter is probably the top of the list.
Everyone wants to kill the mon as fast as humanly possible; that is the entire point. We want to become as efficient murderers as possible.
No it didn't. Mainstream media and influencers ruined the community, like they always do with everything. It's important to place blame correctly, otherwise things will never get fixed.
How did they think bullet barrage was balanced lmao
That shits OP >Other weapons got like a dodge or some shit >GL gets a move that dumps your entire bullet, stake and wyvern fire in one move for just 2 wirebugs
because it's not and good fricking luck landing it on A1 or 2 monsters. There is a reason even Caoslayer and that guy who says 'shields up' or whatever the frick who play GL 24/7 all went shelling.
Thankfully I haven't run into any cheaters yet in Sunbreak. >10,000 Defense
Is it even possible to die with that? You could probably go afk in an afflicted hunt and be fine.
game has a damage stat cap of 2k something, and a defense cap of 3k something - so even though they've cheated to make their stats sky high they're effectively only 2kish and 3kish
still moronicly high but explains why they aren't outright murdering everything while also never dying
The way defense effectively works after a certain point is you talk half as much damage each time it doubles. So 10% more defense is 10% less damage. idk the chances of divine protection 3 but since it's probably better
Max out Offensive Guard, always.
You only need Guard 3. Guard 5 is overkill in this game and might teach you bad habits; you have different counters and different tools to deal with high knockback or high chip attacks instead of relying on Guard 5. Guard Up is situational. Barroth is probably the easiest full set to start with if you want to start simple.
>Guard up >Evade Extender
Then later on slot in partbreaker and some affinity stuff and you should be good. Maybe speed sharpening until you get a good mid or end-game lance.
>tfw made a set without EE2 on it just to test out a weapon >tfw I felt like a snail all hunt with how slow I was going >tfw even getting around the map feels worse since EE applies to wirebug dashes too
I'm probably missing something obvious but can someone please explain how to change the facing direction after using Strongarm so I can get TCS to actually land? I read it was possible but I can't seem to manage it at all.
you need one of each element if you don't want the hunts to take 25 minutes each. DB might be the most OP weapon in Sunbreak actually, but the speedtrannies haven't posted all their runs for the plebs to know it yet.
You WILL need to grind your ass off to get to that point, though.
Guard 5 is actually really fun on SnS. It makes the guard slash counter work on a lot more attacks. I was using it on Espinas and could successfully shield bash through his charges. Also worked on that annoying attack where he drags his head towards you for a while. That attack can be hard to avoid without evade extender but with max guard I could shield bash through it.
The mods on nexus are literally 90% porn, you do, however, have to make an account to see them.
If you're a kid diddler though you'll have to go search somewhere else.
I do have an account. I've had one for a long time and I'm no stranger to finding mods on it, but I've seen a Fiorayne nude mod, and the blacksmith chick naked apron mod and I can't find those on nexus.
I want to hunt with Chichae!
I WANT TO HUNT CHICHAE
Whose bright idea was it to let the actual princess and heir to the throne screw around a crater where they expect a nation-destroying monster to appear?
She asked nicely
She could be one of many unwanted heirs, obviously. I dunno, maybe she's the only one, I hammered through all the dialogue.
She wanted to feel useful despite not being a hunter, so they made her the receptionist
The unwanted heir is either making dango or you
Nah, she just proved to the queen how serious she was by studying rigorously and cutting her hair for prime character development.
why would you restrict your resources in the face of a nation-destroying threat?
what kind of resource is she?
Morale.
Sexual relief
Comfort woman
Sex with Chichae.
I WANT CHICHAE AND YOMOGI TO FEED ME MOCHI MOUTH-TO-MOUTH.
Who the hell names their kid chicharrones?
>chaotic gore weapons probably won't have double affinity

No, Dumb Horny cat Jail for her.

>reddit cat armor
Trying too hard
Rent free
I miss nerscylla cat armor.
I miss the xenojiva pretty much alien cat bride armor.
>not using the Espinas armor
I will not use the permanent reminder that we were robbed of a cool Omukade monster and got a poo poo pee pee homosexual instead
>be worst, most annoying fight in the game
>get a sub that adds explosions
Sorry but my son will wear Garangolm armor instead
Why would I use that when we've got Gore Ghost back
You WILL run with an edgelord can and you WILL like it.
I like to use the bottom gore and top pumpkin, look like a FF Black mage (but with the heart of a thief, obviously)
I seriously don't knwo if going for Ghost Gore or layered nun, both are amazing.
Is your cat a bawd or an edgelord? Let your heart guide you.
>bawd
I'm Catholic, I have no lustful thoughts over nuns.
Anon, those are the only people who DO have lustful thoughts over nuns. Don't lie to us as if we don't know.
why the frick would you use anything but this for both cat and dog
Am I insane or is this outfit supposed to be a MMZ reference
I don't know for sure but you made me google 'mmz bosses' and fricking hell
LUNAGARON IS A MEGAMAN REFERNCE, ITS EVEN GOT THE WEIRD TRIANGULAR TAIL, I THOUGHT THAT TAIL WAS FAMILLIAR

Loves blowing up Monsters with Heavy Bowgun and Gunlance? Could she possibly be......Best Girl?
I don't know. How does it do knocking out Afflicted Monsters?
played too much SA in base Rise, how's GS and Charge Blade in Sunbreak?
26 levels to go bros. I'm almost there. ; ;
>crit eye level 3
>level 3 slot x 1
This is my best talisman so far
How much better can it gets?
Playing on switch so no cheat for me
i have a critical eye 3 weakness exploit 2 3-1
I've been using a wex lvl2 1-1 since hr. Charms are kind of just a cherry on top of your build. Better to grind for decos and better armor sets imo.
X + A over and over again was literally the strongest sustained DPS on downed monsters, XA was for KOs
What the frick were they thinking with this talisman melding system? Jesus what a load of garbage, at least let me craft what the frick i want.
World was the outlier. Melding is the classic way.
>meld decos and rng talismans
>meld talismans and rng decos
I'm not sure which system is more garbage here. Final update IB let you meld pretty much every important deco so this one is worse I guess.
I played World for like a thousand hours and never got an Artillery or Load Up deco
Fricking vile.
IB flooded you with both of them, especially artillery and attack.
Holy shit, shut the frick up. Single-handedly got me to switch to grug language.
BRING OUT THE HARD STUFF
I'm about to do the same.
THEYRE MASTERWORKS ALL YOU CANT GO WRONG THEYRE MASTERWORKS ALL YOU CANT GO WRONG THEYRE MASTERWORKS ALL YOU CANT GO WRONG THEYRE MASTERWORKS ALL YOU CANT GO WRONG THEYRE MASTERWORKS ALL YOU CANT GO WRONG

All NPCs do this if you sit in the menu long enough and its annoying as frick.
I have the mod on so i dont even focus on what she saying
DAIMANZOKU SASECHAU KARA NE
Why are there so many cuties in Sunbreak?
Glad I'm not the only one.
She SINGLE HANDEDLY made me switch the language to Japanese.
May switch it to MH language because she's STILL fricking annoying.
>didn't have it in JP to begin with
?
I just mute the game whenever I go to her. She's annoying in every language.
why does this b***h tell me her entire life story every time I open the weapon tree
Around when do I have to get rid of my HR armor/weapon for G rank? That MR3 Narga was pretty fricking tough.
anon what
you should have at least one MR set by now, they have so many skills and slots that you can make a build for any weapon by the end of MR1
Not him but I used HR bazel until MR3 myself.
Well shit, heard MR was bugged on PC and you didn't accumulate MR points until after the final boss so I beelined the story.
You heard that from here, and no one posting knows anything about anything
It's not bugged, it's capcom being moronic, same as base rise.
Any mods that fix it?
PC Sunbreak room if anyone are up for a few hunts. MR30+

still up? full?
No one joined for 10-15 minutes, so I closed it
I just got home so I would have been down.
>No one joined
Sorry bro. Blame Capcom/Nintendo for no cross-play.
Every day i wake up knowing there are six nuts in my balls that should have been busted inside of Minayle
layered armor is a mistake
armor is a mistake
Why?
Why?
I have only crafted 2 pieces of layered armour since I got to MR. Nothing looks any better than the shit we had in HR.
Get fricked, Fujioka
I don't think clownsuits were that bad back when a lot of sets had a very similar aesthetic and could look good being mixed and matched but I'd rather be DEAD than be seen wearing this.
god, why are all rise armor sets fricking terrible.
Both mr and hr ibushi/narwa look like brap fetish suits
The designs themselves are fine but the serpent armors have the ugliest fricking colors for no reason
I think the biggest problem for me is just the colors chosen. The colors in the game in general already look not great, but some of the armors are so exceptionally ugly BECAUSE of poor color choice.
You should probably not wear that even under a layered set anon
>noooo why every set is not just another armor knight colored like the monster reee
W*rld did a disaster with the weapons, but the armors weren't exactly peak example of variety
i fricking knew this would happen. frick you Black person, literally no one mentioned world, obsessed Black person
He was making an inane comparison for your even more inane post
Seems reasonable, and clearly you have a personal bias for some reason
>even more inane post
literally what the frick does this even mean. i just stated my opinion on the armor designs which seems to be shares by more people. how is this inane, are you actually moronic? im just going to stop replying cause you are the homosexuals that will defend capcom at all costs.
>>>>>he
sure
There is no need to samegay, just get World out of your head and you'll be fine.
Optimizing armor sets to be both visually pleasing AND functional was a fun minigame.
>tfw no jingasa in Rise
That's part of why I liked relic armor so much. You could mix in a pierce or two to get some pretty good skills while also having a lot of choice for he look.
I never grinded out relic armor. It was just too much for me. I did find a pretty cool weapon though. What was that really armor that looked like some badass version of the Elite Knight armor from Dark Souls? It was like Rebellion X or something.
Yep, relic rebellion. Gotten from teo quests which were 2nd only to rajang fir rewards, so it was one of the easier sets of armors to get.
Jesus Christ, that top one is so cool. I'd call someone really mean things to make it happen again.
It was fun, but it also made me completely avoid weapons where i couldn't put together a pleasing armor set
There's a tiny jingasa in the Deluxe kit. It's no big hat tho
Agreed. I'd rather be dead than be seen using a Lance.
Minmaxers should look like homosexuals whereas soulful fullset roleplayers should look good.
>b-b-but layered armor gives me options
No it doesn't, nothing is stopping you from wearing all the cool armors in the game
>Sacrificing benefits that are right up in front of your face just for some dumb purism
>benefits
i dont care about shaving 2 minutes off a hunt and i dont care about grinding autistic talismans
We're talking only about armor sets, there's nothing hard about just crafting a set, even if you don't want to minmax and bother with talismans and decos it's just dumb to not get the armor with the skills you want and fashion up with layered
>the skills you want
damage. that's it, you just want to wear a googled meta clownsuit and not look like a drooling moron.
compare that to
>wearing a cool set, it has a weird build
>crafting a unique weapon to match the unique build
>you can immediately tell what build your fellow hunters have just by looking at their armor
of course no one fricking cares because this is le action game now. no one joins lobbies and chat with each other, no more "kick all insect glaives from my lobby" memes on Ganker. its all soulless random matchmaking. number go up im so cool my weapon has 50 iframe attacks.
layered armor is the definition of soulless. search your heart, you know it to be true
anon, i hate to tell you this, but if these backwater japs came up with the idea of layered armor 15 years ago, they would have included it. Jap developers just have to copy qol improvements other games had 10 years later
Real autismo hours.
>minmax
Anon the ibushi and narwa sets literally have a shared fullset bonus as they're meant to be mixed.
thats because gen 1 and 2 armor was designed to be modular, the original skills system that MH1 used was based off using random clownsuits for skills, thus the armor was designed to be of a similar style between all of them. of course they reused most of that armor across all titles, but 4th gen really started to up the amount of over the top armor designs that didnt really mesh well with mixed sets
>options bad
You can still clown-suit as you please.
Disco Heihachi's looking good.
get fricked
This is very true. There was so much more value in being stylish. Now everyones stylish and a gear prostitute. Shitsux.
>HR 100 and done Ace Combat
>Have to do the apex and those multiple ones and I can finally start SB
I hate being autistic about particular things
Any tips for the MR Arena quests?
>choose arenas with multiple monsters
>run like a b***h while the two kill each other trying to kill you
>almudron starts spinning in a circle low on the ground
>somehow still slaps you out of the air
Doing Hyper monsters have been fun so far, people are good and do what they need to do. I've been stuck on Aurora for like four runs now, always that one hunter who carts two or three times
Its me, i am that hunter. Plz b patient i have autism
It's a gameplay metaphor for japan (ninja sword) bowing down to the west (royal sword)
Had it too good and needed correction.
>lvl4 bludgeoner to utilize blue
I think that would break HR and it kinda matter.
It's unheard for a skill level to be "locked" until a certain rank so I dunno the solution
Just make it a new skill and name it Bludgeoner (L)
Eh fair.
At least the skill had some small meaning in old game because Akantor weapons had green in G rank too
unbeaten... undefeated... unmatched..
>unbeaten
yea i didn't play it for longer than an hour
>undefeated
>unmatched
undefeated and unmatched in awfulness? correct
pretty sure it sounded funnier in your head
Do people actually defend content like limited time raid and guiding land?
>guiding land
this is bad because?
Guiding Land? Best exploration mode in MH, period.
Raising and balancing GL levels? Worst thing in MH period, even worse than Wystones.
There are two ways they could've handled leveling instead while still incentivizing multiplayer for other zones:
>can level all zones, takes longer to compensate so there's still a reason for joining others full leveled zones
>can only level one zone to max, but really quickly so it only takes a few hunts, you might want to join someone else if you want to do multiple high level zones in quick succession
they don't know I would die for them
I would die for every single felyne and melynx (also for Fio and Minoto)
Even Navirou?
I read that some people actually play this game without the MH language voices. Is that true?
I'm not a weeb, sorry
>ackshyually it's not japanese
Yes anon, not everyone on the planet play the game they bought mindlessly follow the way you approve without a second thought, shocking I know.
can someone post some decent looking huntresses they all seem to look like shit with those weird protruding eyelids and exaggerated expressions
For anyone else tired of pulling up wikis
Afflicted parts are put in the hunting notes after you hunt them so I don't know why anyone would need this
It's nice to know what drops what ahead of time before clearing the quest. So if I just got to the tier that has Fangs and Claws, and I only need Fangs, I know which quests to take while still getting to hunt a variety instead of farming one monster.
To me it's faster to bring up something like that image on my second screen.
Much faster than the Hunter's Notes at least.
there's a pretty simple pattern here anon
yeah the pattern is REAL simple
>bones come from fanged beasts (just the low threat ones)
>pelts are raptors, simple enough
>monster bones come from... some bird wyverns, a brute, a leviathan and fricking basarios
>blood comes from... also fanged beasts but also crab, and also khezu i guess
>scale comes from... another assortment of 4 completely unrelated monsters
>shell comes from... the other crab, mudfish and somnacanth, alright so it's an aquatic theme??? no there's also fire bishaten
SIMPLE
Do I need to unlock one of all of these to unlock the final tier of weapons?
Different weapons need different parts, but some weapons require multiple. I'd hunt at least one of each category.
Thanks fren
lmao imagine subjecting yourself to hunting rathian for afflicted scales over pukei
Yeah it doesn't seem very well thought, you even get the same amount of items. Why would you farm the stronger monster.
I suppose the advantage is you being able to farm both the mats for regular stuff AND the special items at once. So there's no point in doing the regular monsters.
I really wish they hadn't been so lazy about it. New mats per monster can't be that hard to implement
Rathian is fun as frick
>BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
inhale my stinky fumes with your shit take
She really is MH's bicycle
Easiest afflicted per material?
basically just hunt all the easy afflicteds then?
>wroggi
>khezu
ftfy
anyone from the pelt category is a joke, and khezu takes longer to hunt that bishaten imo
I don't know why everyone thinks garangolm is easy. He hits me every single time. Just triple carted to afflicted garangolm earlier. For reference I also just killed furious 4 times no carts, 15 mins each.
probably because he's less spastic than the other three
that category was pretty hard to choose from, but i would say garngolm is the easiest with his weakspots to hit and the easiest to telegraph compared to narga barroth and magnamalo who probably can all one shot you too
barioth, i assume you meant, telegraphs a lot
i hated fighting him in HR but i don't mind him in MR now
maybe it's surge slash being a lot more mobile, idk
honestly i had more trouble with centanaur and fricking mr tobi for some reason lol
>bones
Ok, all the Arzuros skeleton basically, make sense
>pelt
the raptor, sure!
>bone
Uh, that's...a bit confusing
>blood
Ok, why that suddenly got so confusing??
its not that confusing
Didn't you know? Bears don't bleed, they have honey flowing through their veins. And only reptiles and birds have bones, everything else is held together by skin and hamstrings.
Look, the point is not that everyone should drop blood and shit, just that they grouped em in some random way istead of, for example, making a drop for each species.
Why does it feel like armours cap way too little? If I'm wearing maxed out armour nothing should be one shotting me from full heath when I have health bugs. That's cheap. I'm tempted to run defence boost with that lvl 4 deco that gives you 5 levels in one.
UHMMMMM, FRONTIERSISSIES??!????! Your "ultra hard" flagship is literal sub-1 minute kill fodder trash??
I still don't get the hype around Espinas
>Some Dev accidentally put an extra 0 in the motion values
What is this referencing? Pierce element? I was wanting to do a build with that one charge skill from garangolm's armor. I hope element doesn't get nerfed.
I fricking hate Rathalos. In World you could just flash him out of the air into a free knockdown but he recovers from this near-instantly in Rise. How the frick do I make this butthole let me split its head open with my sword?
>get too close and she just inhales all the dango
Not the sharing type eh? Guess I won't be sharing any healing powder then when your ass gets knocked out. Again.
Hold up, let's not be rash. Even a defense powder will suffice.
Why are all MH girls such greedy hogs.
>no visual variations between low, high and master rank armor
laughable, no content DLC
blindbro?
homies with no eyes be like
Friendly reminder that this is the only set volvidon has ever had since it was conceived 12 years ago. It didn't even get a deviant like its cousins.
You can't upgrade what's already perfect
>brapmaster Volvidon was stolen from us
Sad day
>Volvidon helm
That's the good shit.
Shame the male variant make you look like a fricking lardass
Frontier feels closer to Classic than Sunbreak to be tbh
OK, Any good HH sets for afflicteds? I'm just at A1 and I wanna try a new weapon.
>Nobody is doing any of those
Are they that bad?
the event quests from base game? why would anyone be doing them now?
They're not event they're the last rank 7 HR quests
How does the matchmaking work?
I can never fine anyone playing at 4AM my time, but I see Japanese players so isn't it world wide?
I never have not found a match, it's almost sorcery, I can select the most garbage old event quest that no one should have problem soloing and still get a group
>region lock
based capcom
>PC
Not an issue.
But it IS the PC issue anon.
Is a non issue for me because I play on Switch, even if it costs me $25 a year Region lock is a non issue.
Why are you even replying to me when anon posted PC version?
Is there not a mod or some workaround to fix this shit? It’s pretty awful to get zero fricking gayassworm hunts
Pretty sure the region lock is based on your download region, and that's a setting you can just change at any time
What is the threshold for WE again? 45?
So where's the porn at? Rise and Sunbreak seems to have relatively smaller amount of lewd compared to its predecessors.
Rinoa and Minoto got a lot of porn, but I'm not seeing much from SB, and most of time it's just Fiorayne
>Rise and Sunbreak seems to have relatively smaller amount of lewd compared to its predecessors.
You're either blind or moronic
>that Anjanath cutscene
>go to download the patch
>steam says it's downloading all 30 GB again
wtf capcom
nvm it just read through all the files or something lol
I'M NOT BUYING A FRICKING SWITCH (OR PLAYING A SHITTY PC PORT)
When will they change the icon on the switch? I'm tired of looking at magnamalo
im going to use the steve switchaxe even though it's an objectively inferior option and nobody can stop me
>Fio's SnS is actually among the best in the game at the moment
>barely even needs sharpness maintenance
I’m using it just because it fits my aesthetic and because I like sharing Fio’s weapon, but I’m finding it drops out of purple too fast.
You can run kushala's chest for 20 more hits of purple
Ooh, thanks
You can’t even name lobbies anymore
i dont think thats such a big deal when this game came out on switch i was having lobbies constantly filled even without needing to name them. i am just surprised to never see a targeted monster when i look at the lobby list. i assume everyone just uses the join mid hunt option or something.
I do a follower quest and two more take its place when I'm done like a damn hydra, how many of these quests are there?
Does bringing additional followers affect monster health?
Is bladescale hone any good?
Also curious. Is it like 4U where it was 10 rolls per sharpen, and I think 15 for lance hops? I'd mostly want to use it on lance.
I think you have to actively dodge an attack for it to sharpen, you can't just roll around, but it also restores way faster
Might be worth it for lance then.
You need to roll "near" an attack, no even need to activate the Iframes
there are various video about it on Youtube, pick your poison
No. You now have to perfectly evade attacks for it to sharpen, and it takes several evades for it.
I haven't started Sunbreak yet as I've been busy, but I'm curious how the end game is. Is it as empty as base Rise?
Reminder to do Nagi the Buddy Agent's side quest so you can customized your Palico support skills.
Gunlance chad here, did the most fun weapon get buffed in Sunbreak?
Is tracking monsters boring in Rise like it was in World?
I miss paintballs, bros.
There's no tracking at all in Rise.
I miss paintballs too, but I prefer Rise's lack of tracking over World's.
I don't miss footprint sniffing but I do kind of miss the presence of the footprints. I miss seeing the presence of monsters in the area in general, like with scales and markings being left around.
Wow, that sucks. Still sounds better than following scoutflies though
There's even less tracking in that there is no tracking at all. All monsters are visible on the map always, immediately. Even brand new monsters are visible on the map with a ?.
>I miss paintballs, bros.
frick off
also
>tracking in older games
>relevant
Cope zoomie
Paintballs felt like you were actively hunting the monster and more inmersive to the whole hunter in monster hunter but i prefer rise's aproach to the fricking slog that was world
after the first few paintballs that shit felt like a forced and tedious upkeep, nothing of real value was lost
Wish they had a middle ground between auto psychoserum and having to interrupt the flow of combat paintball monsters.
They had. Just remember the spawns and escape routes. It was all predetermined.
How bout we paint it once and it's kosher for the rest of the hunt
I think making ALL the monster always start as (?) would have been a good idea, like the owl tell you where the frickers are but not WHAT fricker.
do people on PC not make lobbies for farming specific monsters and stuff? do they mostly just use the join mid quest feature? i never see any lobbies targeting monsters i want to farm
>region lock
>filter option "same language" and "any language" is based on your in game language instead of your region
>filtering for "any language" won't even show you same language rooms
>effectively the majority of rooms is filtered out for me

>finally hunt in a Kingdom that’s not under guild jurisdiction
>still identical to previous games for the sake of diplomatic relationships
But I want to be a poacher
>the final secret about Chichae is that she had long hair before the game started

Question:
Is anyone here using the new classic filter?
I find it to make the base rise maps look much better and less washed out, but since the new ones are so vibrant already, they end up looking a bit worse.
>nothing stops you from headcanoning your Hunter and Fio marrying after game events
Make an HP regen build and run zero pots instead of defense 7
Go naked
Nergigante > Malzeno !
Nergigante is a SHIT
It's weird, I don't dislike nerg and I think it's a pretty good fight, but for some reason I don't miss him at all
Same. For me, he just didn't stand out. His design/fight is okay. Malzeno isn't that hard either, but I like the vampire aesthetic and 'nothin personnel' sound effects. Made the encounter more memorable in comparison, personally.
>troonyfied my character to male in SB after making tomboys the past 4 games
>actually like it a lot better and adore some of the full knight armor pieces, currently rocking a Dukemon esque look
Initially did it for better self inserting with (Me) x Fio, but I think I like this better than my old witch bawd as a whole.
I wish MH would just let me change my appearance anytime like in Elden Ring though.
Anyone have a decent bow setup I can copy? I want to try out ranged and bow seems the most interesting.
Good god remember having success rates on item crafting
At least no one is contrarian enough to pine for that
>not wanting to filter g*nners by forcing them to carry Combo Books
I would unironically be fine with success rate returning
I already get mad enough with the fricking dangos missing constantly on a 80% chance
I SURE DO MISS IT WHEN I HAD TO CARRY AROUND MY CRAFTING BOOKS. WHAT ABOUT YOU GUYS?
I just use 10 mega pots and stat items, so i can spare some slots for that
>crafting books
>having to buy pickaxes and nets
>hot and cold drinks, plus demon powder, plus life powder to carry shitters and morons
Bro you don't understand, combo plus was my favorite 5 slot skill
>At least no one is contrarian enough to pine for that
You have no Idea the hateboner this place has for gunners, I have seen SEVERAL times on alot of threads mormons claiming that Item crafting should be back at pre-World era.
I'm just tired of these homosexual gunners staggerlocking the entire fricking team, cutting the other three hunters' damage down thanks to the crippling inaction inflicted by their homosexual pierce shot spam. Makes a hunt take forever.
You didn't hunt it.
>mormons
Joseph Smith was fine with gen 5 MH.
It forced rangedgays to carry books, so it was based.
I forgot it was a thing since I only played gunner for specific fights like Metal Raths before, I approve of combo books after anon reminded me of them
So does Recovery Up do anything to Blood Rite? Will it make the healing from Blood Rite more potent or is it a waste of slots?
I can't honestly believe people got one shotted from full hp by those A1 and A2 monsters.
Woever designed ibushi and narwa deserves a bullet in the head. What garbage fights
Was this line really necessary?
>sunbreak wards off and kills the denizens of the dark
>the entire time you're fighting against the legions of Dracula and later Satan
>after you defeat Satan, the sun comes up
It's not too bad.
>too on the nose
Itchy Nose wasn't involved this time.
whats your guys' go-to-dango? mines booster, defender (hi) and weakener
Defense hi lvl 4 bird caller lvl 3 and then defender lvl 1. Basically never die with that
Did they nerf Flinch Free? I have level 1 slotted, but noticed I still get flinched sometimes in the head gangbangs online.
What's the appeal of lance over gunlance?
I just wanna poke, for Christ's sake
Unironically more damage, faster hunts, smoother to play
Also as a Lance main since the first monster hunter, it's just personally more fun to me.
>damage, faster hunts
Lance is objectively more damage than translance though
>translance
You're thinking of the SwitchAxe.
it's better, you don't have to knock down the entire lobby of useful weapon users that actually do damage, more damage than shitlance and it isnt a troon weapon
Lots of different options for counters and generally short animations. Once you get decent with it, it feels very safe and you never have to stop attacking at any time. Trying to use Gunlance after maining Lance for a long time feels very unsafe in comparison.
I get an erection every time I instablock
Poke
It's very easy to aim at weakspots
Counter is more sexy than Michael bay.

I miss when the character would get excited over a rare carve and hold it over their head.
If I'm running GS, what weapon trees should I keep an eye on for Sunbreak? Rise's original GS underwhelmed me but I really like the new skills you can get for GS in Sunbreak.
Kamura tree, the best all around gs in the game. Craft it super ez, don't have to worry about any other tree, plus it has very comfy slots and purple
Just noticed they added 42 new achievements.
That's cool.
It may be more worthwhile with shield charge but I doubt it
Any good Hammer sets? I'm currently peak clown with half Pirate for Good luck and half Scholar for Wide Range
Lunagaron helm, ingot greaves, start with those and go from there. Squire waist is good, especially if you use water strike. Barroth gloves are super good also. Chest there are a few that work, just see what else you need once you factor in your charm, slugger is easy to slot in to any open 4 slot for +2
aight thanks. I might just make a layered set from my current outfit, it looks too goofy to throw in the trash
Say that to my 1k damage perfect block counters followed by my 1.5k skyward thrusts and then 175 damage a poke and not online and see what comes about
cute moron
>bombed me out of stun
unironically smarter than the average human player
why are all the rise monster subspecies in sunbreak trash? i mean blood orange bishaten is cool but hes kinda just as easy as regular bish
subspecies in general just aren't that great.
You see this actually done in places, such as the dromes or 'aggis, or even jagras/shamos/dodogama in world being probably the peak of it as they're substantially different to the point its debatable they even class as an example, which is how different monsters should be to begin with.
the greatest subspecies of all time is tiger zamtrios
FALSE, it's Acidic Glavenus
He isn't really great either. I think the only one I don't mind is Ivory Lagiacrus because the colour on it isn't weird or outlandish and the idea of a very close species of lagiacrus that simply favours land and became more proficient fighting there is extremely down to earth, but even that falls into the latter category and 'land leviathan' is effectively already filled in 3rd gen by Agnaktor, who is one of my favourite fights in the series.
acidic glavenus is mine, cool moveset changes and more interesting than a standard element swap
World did subspecies well.
As opposed to what, exactly?
I don't understand what kind of weird thing you morons are smoking. Dunno about Rakna but trash? What the frick? Bishaten and Somnacanth share like two moves with their original. The rest of their moveset is original. They're some of the best subspecies if anything.
I prefer these than fighting Azure Rathalos and Pink Rathian for the 100th time, the laziest subspecies ever.
i rather have 1 brand new monster over 2-3 subspecies
I need luchika to Amazon press me in her hunter mood
Is HBG fun? I never see anyone talk about it. Does it take any skill compared to LBG?
No skill, ez mode to use and does a lot of damage. Used by trannies and morons alike, if you want to play a ranged weapon that involves some kind of skill involved there is only bow
I don't like HBG because I hate having to charge every single shot. My autism doesn't let me fire uncharged shots of any kind because it makes me feel like I'm wasting ammo.

people waited for g rank?
Sunbreak is new, are you dumb?
I soipogged when steve's theme started playing
I dont know if it was mentioned in a previous thread already, but did the exact contents of the patch get datamined yet?
What exactly did they do to A1 and A2 monsters?
Everyone keeps saying they got nerfed, but I don't know. I was already done with them when patch came.
Still mad at no cross-save compatibility.
Would have bought the PC version and Sunbreak if I could somehow transfer my save over. I don't want to play Sunbreak at 720p30 if I can easily get 1080p144 on my PC, but I also don't want to slog through the base game again.

QRD on bow?
rangeshit but slightly less safe and has stamina management so I regard it as less cancerous than the guns, not A rank like that anon put it in tho
Why does everyone hate my weapon so much IG hasn't been broken since 4U
je suis monte PTSD runs deep
A FRICKING BAGUETTE
people here hates everything that isn't GS or Hammer, they are basically dumbasses
It's at its worst in rise because of wirebugs too, yeah, but it's been a growing issue since at least Generations I feel
lots of randos using it just spent all their time in the air not contributing shit
Aerial IG attacks do shocking DPS now. A helicopter on a weak wing or back hitzone tears shit up just as well as a max DPS ground combo, and in group play helps the group get breaks on out-of-reach hitzones. This isn't 4U or even World anymore.
Blame the French
its the designated french shitter weapon, 99/100 an ig player in your lobby will be whizzing about in air doing frick all
>zoomer lists where "troony" is a category
holy shit just go to Thailand and get your dick sucked by a ladyboy so you can lose the obsession
ive been playing this game for a week non stop and now my girlfriend wants me to come watch the new minions movie with her what do
Are you dating a 10 years old?, actually, don't answer that.
>wirebug whisperer 3 talisman with 2 2 slots
It was decent back in the day but has been irrelevant for years
That's the thing. I did unsheat attacks and immediatelly went to check status screen and there was no change.
The boost is only applied to that specific attack, not an overall boost to your affinity stat
That's dumb as frick. Why would anyone use this skill in Rise/Sunbreak.
LS gets way more mileage out of it than GS
does it apply to all three hits of Sacred Sheath or just the first one?
It's a legacy skill that now works with LS more than GS since iai is a thing.
Malzeno set is comfy for the wex, attack boost, blight resist, and bug whisperer but I'm thinking of moving on from it since blood right doesn't synergize that well with dual blades. Any armor recommendations?
Seregios is pretty nice if you're a sharpness fiend. Bladescale Honing is easy as piss to maintain with DBs
taking bladescale hone on db would be dumb, their new silkbind already does exactly that effect
I've been having a lot of fun with the suicidal build - shagaru head, malzeno chest/waist, final boss arms/legs
if you're comfortable with being low health constantly then you can swap out the malzeno stuff for more damage I suppose but having it to rely on once you have a part break feels nice
How do I get Heavy Humble Scraps?
put regular humble scraps on Hinoa's diet
I've seen them in the meowscenaries.
Which glowy item?
I think it's just a random drop from anything.
>IG players were super hype about powder
>It doesn't scale at all and falls off hard in endgame
>The new silkbinds are all trash too
IG literally can't stop losing.
I'm just playing the exact same way I've played since 4u.
I would do that but then hunts would take triple the time, its play our way or enjoy damn near failing a quest cause you're too slow.
I play aerial glaive and my non-afflicted hunts are all sub-10 minutes and I'm not particularly great at the game. It's clearly not the best weapon in the game, but it's not like it's massively underpowered.
Are you guys excited for Afflicted Magma Almudron in the first Title Update?
might prefer that than metal shitverns
Frontier anons now that the genie has been unleashed from its bottle what other frontier monsters you could see being added in future?
I was browsing the monster list and thought (from pictures alone) that Abiorugu and the red n blue doggo duo could be brought into this or future gens.
Abiorugu looked cool to me as a of prototype of glavenus.
Already fought him in IB. Give me the scorpion
I just want added Duremudira for the theme and because there is no ice+poison elder in mainline
Dure would need a massive fricking rework. No one's prepared to deal with his corruption shit and lasers that could completely engulf a Gravios.
>lasers that could completely engulf a Gravios.
Im sorry what?
Kino boss
so how are you supposed to fight this without i-frame dodging through everything?
That's the neat part, you don't
You don't. Frontier requires I-frame mastery unlike mainline.
>he doesn't know
?t=232
Every Frontier endgame vid I’ve seen looks the same, some homosexual spamming attacks in the monster’s face and never taking damage
Maybe it's just me but this doesn't seem all that crazy, although it might be because the guy is using tonfas and jumping over everything.
Easy choice
Haven't played any Rise yet, are there any monsters like this in the game or DLC? I mean like more arthropod or whatever looking than draconic? I thought the big sand crab or whatever looking thing from the Wii era was so cool back in the day. I always liked the unorthodox monster designs the best.
yes
There is a spider and two crabs
DLC has these 2 species:
Is Chain Crit something that only works with fast hitting weapons?
pretty much, yeah. gs technically can get a tiny bit of use out of it since tcs first hit will trigger the buff for tcs second hit, but it's more of a fast weapon type of thing
Chain crit's first level is activated by only one strike and gives 5 raw and element already
Armor recs for SnS?
currently using the Lunagaron helm, chest, and arms along with anjanth coil x and ignot greaves x
What skills does that give? Not home atm
Neither am I, but it gives you agitator 5, attack 4. crit eye 4, and then I gem in protective polish, wex, and a level of evade extender
I wish the lighting on this game didn't look so fricking shit on the faces outside of character creation and in the "close up" menus.
My character goes from being white in CC to looking like a smooth overly shiny pink person in-game.
>Tfw your weapon is such a disappointment practically no one is doing runs with it so you can't learn new tech

Cool warlord design.

Skipped leg day/10
MH always had cute girls in it.
However world was also the only game to have an ugly annoying girl as your partner.
So after that mistake they dialed it up to 11 with Rise.
If Handler had actually fought alongside you like Fio, would she have been nearly as hated?
She'd still be annoying but at least she wouldn't be useless
If she did something of actual value instead of simply including herself as part of your accomplishments she'd be less of an annoying c**t, but still an annoying c**t all the same.
why is it acceptable in the devs minds to have melded like 500 sunbreak talismans and not a single one has had high levels of attack/crit eye/WEX?
>try not to use Impact Crater all that much
>keep buff on
>use bugs on Swaying whenever
>do dogshit
>spam IC like before
>use spare bugs on Swaying when I really need it only
>ignore buff
>crush monsters in record time
heh I really thought I was going to get away from Crater spam. Luckily I am one of the ones who don't mind it because it's satisfying as FRICK.
did the rainbow pigment get added back in?
also cheevos
as far as I know, no
bogus
can someone explain to me why zinogre doesnt have an initial roar when you engage him that stuns you?
He's too cool for skool.
Is it possible to ban gunners from joining your hunts?
>Anchor Rage has to be used reactively, there's no time to swap to it while attacks wind up
>Spiral Thrust can be used to counter some attacks by using it as a dodge, but often if it's not used at the start of the attack you will be punished so switch skill swapping to it doesn't always work out
>Shield charge requires points in guard to prevent knockback stopping you against some attacks
>Sheathing Retreat can be used to gapclose but you lose out on the damage or stun from other options
>Twin Vine can be used to gapclose but then you don't get sheathing retreat and might need guard up
>The standard charging attack lacks block so you will get hit with a fireball or some shit while gapclosing against many attacks
It's all so tiresome. Lance is still fun, though.
>The standard charging attack lacks block so you will get hit with a fireball or some shit while gapclosing against many attacks
Unless they changed it I'm pretty sure you can press the guard button and you'll cancel the charge into a standard guard pretty quick.
You lance Black folk are never happy
Sheathing retreat is the best thing Lance has gotten in this game. Now I don't take thirty years to sheath my weapon. I love and hate Insta-block now. It's easier to use than ever, but there's still a weird pause if you miss. I heard you can cancel out of it but I need to practice more with it.
>might need guard up
>might
why are you not always running at least one point of guard up if you're playing lance?
Just get guard 5 and you become an unstoppable tank that can shield tackle/dash through everything and deliver nonstop pokes and instant block cross sweeps.
jesus this game has so many fricking waifus it's insane
I only dabbled with old Monster Hunters on the PSP briefly, and played some World. Is having lots of waifus part of the traditional Monster Hunter experience?
nah normally there's just like, one or two.
Becky is my absolute wife and I wish she was real so she could break me
MH is fun and the only long running franchise that didn't shit the bed
>b-b-but my World/Rise
Stop coping
I agree but I think it only has one more generation left in it
rise did shit the bed
This but with Iceborne/World
bing bing wahoo
Is there way to link equipment and layered sets together so that you dont need first pick equiment set and then the layered set separately?
No, however you can hover over an equipment loadout and tab directly to your layered loadouts, and picking a layered loadout from this menu also equips the set you were looking at.
Lmao on Reddit and everyone is disappointed in Sunbreak and waiting for World 2. Tendies lost.
Anyone know what armor Pharo is wearing?
I've lost respect for Greatsword players, this shit isn't fricking Greatsword anymore it's just counter spam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97xqdB6J5s0

I don't need to cope, I have 4U KINOsword to enjoy while you gays spam counters and PRETEND to play Greatsword.
TA is something only recently popular. If you are using TA as a metric for whatever, you're moronic. Especially when you are complaining about old GS Black person
It's not about TA you fricking moron mongoloid, it's the way it plays
>it's the way it plays
First of all, you linked a TA video as "backing" to your claim. Second of all, "its the way it plays' is entirely dependent on the user. Im going to stop replying now because you're actually a genuine 20 iq moron. You wont understand a thing if this is your reply dumbass
what does this image make you feel?
It was introduced in the same update as lunastra and makes me feel like lunastra is one of the worst fights in recent MH
thank god there's no stupid lingering DoT attacks in Rise to counter the bullshit they injected into the game, shit was the absolute worst trying to fight a bunch of stuff as a blocker
>I now remember world lunastra
For all of the good things they did that was the worst
Disgust, as any normal human being should feel
Imagine if it was Rise that introduced a tool that made you invincible.

Powder is shit anyway, use an assist type and endlessly divekick monsters into unconciousness with the new kinsect slash.

>played Great Sword since goddamn PS2 MH
>style has not changed this drastically at all
What the frick did they do to my weapon? I thought the non hitstops were bad, but what the frick man!?
Cope. Sunbreak is peak Greatsword
Whatever you say you counter spam happy homosexual.
Lol damn even LS the golden child got nerfed? Truly there is no god here.
It didn’t exactly get nerfed, but it plays like an entirely different weapon from pre-World LS now.
Most of us skipped GU/World and came back for Sunbreak because it's a return to classic.
>because it's a return to classic.
At this point who still believes that?
There’s probably a handful of tendies who unironically do tbh
GU GS was great, Valor was a fun spin on GS
Valor was acceptable, but shit like adapt and aerial are so gay.
What I think was worse though is TCS, as its basically killed the entire crit-draw/hit and run play styl, and rise basically doubled down on it.
>hating adapt GS
You will never know the joy of dodging a monster’s attack and countering it causing a part from it to break
And its been playing like LS/SA since World, moron.
TCS and Shoulder Tackle have ruined the weapon
I like Surge Slash but base Rise GS was perfect. I wish the monsters weren't so overly aggressive so charge GS was a bit easier to play
Is Redirection worth mastering?
I don't think so
how come the merchants in this game dont sell a bleed remedy item?
Because you get rid of bleed in 2 seconds of crouching as opposed to 6 now
its so awkward to crouch in this game though, you need to stand completely still for like 2 seconds and your character skates all over the place
I hate both of teostra's new attacks
I hate teostra, take a fricking vacation already

That's a mighty fricking fast speedrun
I wish TA autism wasn't allowed. Those goddamn speedruns ruined this fricking community.
that post was a bug.
So the community has been ruined at least since FU because of the TA/speedrunners?
You are a really special child.
Go back
How did they think bullet barrage was balanced lmao
That shits OP
>Other weapons got like a dodge or some shit
>GL gets a move that dumps your entire bullet, stake and wyvern fire in one move for just 2 wirebugs
because it's not and good fricking luck landing it on A1 or 2 monsters. There is a reason even Caoslayer and that guy who says 'shields up' or whatever the frick who play GL 24/7 all went shelling.
>each missed one is another minute added to your fight minimum
suffering
>IG in group fricking vaporize monsters
>Get curious
>See this
Ah, I see, that's how french players roll.
HON HON HON
What's wrong anon, are you JELLY???
No just wondering how he carted with stuff like this.
You don't cheat because you're good.
Interesting that you can see he was going for some gimmicky blast setup before he said frick it and started cheating
Thankfully I haven't run into any cheaters yet in Sunbreak.
>10,000 Defense
Is it even possible to die with that? You could probably go afk in an afflicted hunt and be fine.
Like I said, he carted once.
What were you guys fighting? I just can't fathom how one could cart at that point. The damage alone should kill anything before it could kill them.
Bagel and Magnamalos.
He'd often take damage from magna because I guess he didn't cared about anything and just started to grug in his constantly.
Forgot to mention it was HR Bagel and Magna.
game has a damage stat cap of 2k something, and a defense cap of 3k something - so even though they've cheated to make their stats sky high they're effectively only 2kish and 3kish
still moronicly high but explains why they aren't outright murdering everything while also never dying
you take .007% damage compared to the usual .1% damage
The game must have a cap on defense then or it wasn't actually registering it
The hidden values behind defense have always been weird to me. Which is more sturdy? Defense 7 or divine protection 3?
The way defense effectively works after a certain point is you talk half as much damage each time it doubles. So 10% more defense is 10% less damage. idk the chances of divine protection 3 but since it's probably better
game has a defense cap of I think 3600 or something like that
Whats a decent build for starting out with lance?
Max out Offensive Guard, always.
You only need Guard 3. Guard 5 is overkill in this game and might teach you bad habits; you have different counters and different tools to deal with high knockback or high chip attacks instead of relying on Guard 5. Guard Up is situational. Barroth is probably the easiest full set to start with if you want to start simple.
>Guard up
>Evade Extender
Then later on slot in partbreaker and some affinity stuff and you should be good. Maybe speed sharpening until you get a good mid or end-game lance.
>tfw made a set without EE2 on it just to test out a weapon
>tfw I felt like a snail all hunt with how slow I was going
>tfw even getting around the map feels worse since EE applies to wirebug dashes too
It's all over for me. I can't let go of EE.
It's okay anon, with how fast the monsters are now you kinda need it.
>tfw outspeeding dogs with EE2
so fricking good that shit was nasty on swaxe. maybe i'll try out EE2 lance
>there's a guild card award for talking to all Elgado NPCs
>I don't have it
God dammit not again
do square/y while talking to the buddy plaza dude to talk to his two dog companions
that's the one that most people are likely to miss
I'm still missing someone in Kamura, no goddamn clue where this mystery person is.
Did you talk to the hidden cat in your room?
>missing someone in kamura
personally I'd forgotten the palico to the right of rondine when I searched for that medal, kinda hidden
I'm probably missing something obvious but can someone please explain how to change the facing direction after using Strongarm so I can get TCS to actually land? I read it was possible but I can't seem to manage it at all.
shoebill dog raven
What the frick is this thing?
small nargacuga
A Gargolda
Citadel rare endemic. The sounds it makes ads fricking insane.
Any tips for someone starting on DB? I finished HR with SnS and wanted a change for MR
you need one of each element if you don't want the hunts to take 25 minutes each.
That attack can be hard to avoid without evade extender but with max guard I could shield bash through it.
>afflicted shogun ceantaur
is this where the fun stops?
Classicgays really deserve the rope. Go play the old titles if you can't adapt. Every weapon is better now. You are obsolete.

where do i get the lewd mods from? I don't seem them on nexus
One of them is literally on the front page.
